Chapter 618 Summoned By The Council
"Mother, why can''t I save the realm without marrying a god?" Selena argued, frustrationcing her voice. "Because marrying a god will multiply your powers," the high priestess replied calmly, though her tone held a firm finality. "You are not aplete goddess, Selena. You only carry the essence of the Moon Goddess as her descendant."
"But what about my mate? I''ve been married to him, and we have a son," Selena questioned defiantly as her voice trembled with emotion.
They called her the queen of the realm, worshipped her as their goddess, but as others continued to dictate her life, she felt less like a queen with authority and more like a pawn in their game.
"He has forgotten about you," the high priestess reminded Selena. "They all have forgotten you, even your son. If it weren''t for the mate bond, Alpha Zander would never have acknowledged you, Selena. You don''t matter to them, to Alpha Zander. So it''s better you stay here and fulfill your duty as the queen of the Lunar Realm.
Selena''s heart sank at the revtion her mother had just made. The high priestess saw her daughter''s face fall, and for a fleeting moment, guilt wed her chest, softening her resolve. But she quickly buried it beneath the heavy cloak of duty.
She was helpless-bound by the responsibility she bore. To save the Lunar Realm, she had no choice but to break her daughter''s heart, to force Selena to turn away from her mate and embrace the fate that awaited her as their queen.
"But then why did the Moon Goddess pair me with Alpha Zander if we weren''t meant to be together?" Selena argued, her voice cracking with frustration and pain.
The high priestess let out a sigh of disappointment, her eyes softening briefly before hardening once more.
"Sometimes even the Moon Goddess makes mistakes," she murmured. Turning her back to Selena, she hid the turmoil in her gaze, unwilling to let her daughter see the truth in her eyes.
Selena and Zander were true mates; no force, not even the Moon Goddess herself, could change that. Their bond had been sealed by destiny, not in this lifetime, but thousands of years ago. True mates were fated to find each other in every life, drawn together by an unbreakable thread of fate.
Yet the high priestess had always known her daughter''s fate. When she agreed to sacrifice Selena for the sake of the goddess, she had epted the heavy burden of that choice. Her daughter was not just her child but the key to saving the Lunar Realm-and perhaps the entire universe.
Now was not the time for emotions to cloud her judgment. There was no room for weakness, no space to undo the years of dedication and sacrifice that had led them to this moment.
She pushed down her guilt, steeling herself with the cold resolve of duty, and spoke further, "It''s time to correct that mistake. God Kaelvor is here, and all the preparations are done. Once the wedding isplete, we will be one step closer to saving the Lunar Realm."
Today was Selena''s wedding to Kaelvor, the God of Destruction. Though she wanted nothing to do with it, she was forced to ept the alliance. The high priestess had insisted it was necessary to save the world. "Get ready ande quickly to the altar. Everyone is waiting to witness the wedding of their queen," the high priestess instructed before turning and leaving the chamber. Her face remained cold and expressionless, devoid of any joy one might expect on the day of her daughter''s wedding.
She went straight to the guest chamber where Kaelvor, the God of Destruction, was staying as he prepared for the wedding.
"High Priestess," Kaelvor smirked as she entered the room.
"Everyone leave. I need a moment alone with God Kaelvor," the high priestessmanded. The lunar royal servants, who had been attending to Kaelvor, quickly bowed in respect and exited the room.
As the door closed, Kaelvor''s smirk faded, reced by a serious expression. "Why the sudden rush for this marriage?" he scowled.
"Alpha Zander," the high priestess stated simply.
At the mention of the name, Kaelvor''s eyes flickered with a sh of nervousness, of course, because of a different reason, though he quickly masked it with indifference.
"What about him?" he asked sharply.
"He has realized Selena is his mate," the high priestess replied calmly.
Kaelvor stiffened, his gaze
hardening as the words sank in. For a moment, disbelief flickered across
of the
his face. In all the realms, no one remembered the first true mates, When the realms had forgotten what had truly happened, no one remembered the first true mates. That''s why Kaelvor was shocked upon hearing that Selena was the
Alpha King''s mate.
"She''s the Alpha King''s mate?!" he repeated. "Why didn''t you tell me this sooner? I''m worried about what he''ll do when he finds out I married his mate."
"Alpha Zander is no match for you, God Kaelvor," the High Priestess replied, her voice dripping with ttery. "You don''t need to worry. Once the marriage isplete, he won''t be able to do anything."
Kaelvor seemed somewhat
reassured by her words. Though he was the God of Destruction, the tales of Alpha Zander''s bravery still weighed heavily on him. He knew how fearless Zander was-so
fearless, in fact, that even
fel
gods
could fear him. Zander was à force to be reckoned with, his power rivaling that of the divine despitecking godlike abilities. Kaelvor seemed momentarily reassured by her words, though there was still a lingering unease in his eyes. Despite his title as the God of Destruction, the stories of Alpha Zander''s bravery and power had made an impression on himo Zander''s fearlessness was legendary, and even a god like
Kaelvor couldn''t dismiss the aura of
power he carried.
"But we need to move quickly," the high priestess continued. "We mustplete the wedding before Alpha Zander has a chance to interfere."
"Yes, let''s finish this quickly," Kaelvor said, knowing that once the marriage wasplete, Selena''s power would merge with his, making him even more powerful-more powerful than any god or goddess in the universe.
The two of them proceeded to the wedding altar, and soon Selena appeared. The crowd gathered around them, eager to witness the sacred union. The high goddess stood between them, ready to guide them through their vows. But just as the ceremony was about to begin, a guard rushed in with a messenger from the council.
"This wedding cannot proceed," the messenger announced. "Alpha Zander has filed an objection and opened a case against Selena Ardolf, the Queen of the Lunar Realm, for fraud and infidelity. He demands that she appear before the Council as soon as she receives the summons."
Selena''s jaw dropped at the usations directed at her. The charges were serious enough to ce her under the council''s supervision, confined to the council house until further proceedings and judgment. Kaelvor and the high priestess exchanged a look of despair, realizing that underestimating Alpha Zander had been their biggest mistake.
