    I bolted upright, body trembling. Heart pounding and skin crawling. I could hardly breathe as I looked around my room trying to identify what had woken me. It was dark. Darker than it should have been. What time is it? I wondered. I grabbed my phone. Dead. Of course. I got out of bed and walked to the window. Nothing. I could see nothing. I sighed and turned back to my bed. I saw a shadow within the blackness of my room. I squinted, trying to see more. It seemed to be moving slightly. Like breathing. It moved more. Toward me. I started backing up in fear. It kept getting closer and closer. My back touched the wall. I was trapped. I could do nothing as icy fingers gripped my arm in the darkness. I was silent.
