《Ascending》
The Descent
Li¡¯Yan, a fierce warrior renowned for her mastery of the twin fans, commanded both fear and respect in the martial arts realm of Heavenly Origin. With unparalleled skill and agility, she danced through battles, leaving her adversaries trembling in her wake. Yet, even her keen foresight couldn¡¯t anticipate the twist of fate that would plunge her into the abyss of a dark well.
It began on a moonless night, as Li¡¯Yan traversed a treacherous mountain pass, her senses alert to any hint of danger.
Suddenly, an ambush ensued, orchestrated by a cunning foe who sought to extinguish her legendary presence from the realm. Despite her valiant efforts, overwhelming numbers overwhelmed her, driving her towards the yawning mouth of the abyss.
With lightning reflexes, Li¡¯Yan fought fiercely, her twin fans slicing through the air like deadly whirlwinds. But amidst the chaos, a cunning adversary dealt a decisive blow, sending her tumbling into the unfathomable depths below.
As she plummeted into the darkness, a sense of foreboding gripped her heart. Yet, even in the face of imminent peril, Li¡¯Yan remained resolute, her determination unshaken. In the murky depths of the well, she braced herself for the unknown, her mind racing with thoughts of survival and vengeance.
The well seemed to stretch infinitely into the void, its walls slick with shadows that whispered ancient secrets and echoed with the cries of lost souls. Despite her powers, Li¡¯Yan found herself ensnared in the grasp of the darkness, unable to escape its relentless pull.
As she fell, memories flooded her mind. She remembered her training, her battles, and the people she had loved and lost. But there was a gap in her memory, a missing piece that she could not quite grasp.
As the cold darkness brushed against her skin, she saw a man standing in front of her. His face was obscured by the darkness, but she could feel the evil emanating from him. He had done this to her, she knew. He had taken her memories and thrown her into this pit.
Li''Yan tried to move, but her body would not obey her. She could not scream or fight back. All she could do was lie there, trapped and helpless. But as she fell, something stirred within her. A spark of determination, a flicker of rage. She would not let this man defeat her. She would not let him take away her memories, her identity. Silent screams were frozen in her throat as warm tears trickled down her cheeks and into the air as she fell.
As Li''Yan continued to fall, her mind struggled to understand what was happening to her. She knew that her psyche had been overtaken, and that things would never be the same again. But her emotions burned like a raging fire within her, fueling her determination to make the man who had done this to her pay.
For what seemed like an eternity, Li¡¯Yan plummeted through the abyss, her once-golden aura fading into obscurity. Yet, even in the depths of despair, a flicker of determination burned within her heart. Despite the overwhelming darkness that enveloped her, Li''Yan refused to give up. She knew that she had to fight, to find a way out of this abyss. Drawing upon the last vestiges of her strength, she forged a connection with the very essence of the well itself, merging her essence with the darkness that surrounded her.
In that moment of symbiosis, Li¡¯Yan underwent a profound transformation. Her human form dissolved, giving way to a new existence as golden fragments that disappeared into the unknown within the depths of the well. Though she had fallen from grace, she retained fragments of her former self, imbuing the darkness with a glimmer of her divine light.
All that was left of Li''Yan was her soul, a beautiful jade color that shone in the darkness. But even her soul could not protect her from the crushing pressure of the void. The darkness was like a ravenous vacuum, devouring everything in its path.
Li''Yan''s wind powers were useless against the all-consuming darkness. She was trapped, with no way out. But she refused to give up. She knew that she had to depend on herself to survive.
Li''Yan''s senses were blocked out by the all-encompassing darkness. She could no longer feel her body, only the heavy pressure that surrounded her fragments . But she did not let this defeat her. Instead, she focused on her soul, using its strength to guide her.
Li''Yan knew that she had to be her own savior in this moment. Her powers were not enough to rescue her, but her determination and her will to survive would be. And so, with a fierce determination in her heart, Li''Yan fought against the darkness, determined to emerge victorious, but her efforts were in vain as the last thing she saw was a strange text going across her vision as darkness pulled her to sleep. This book''s true home is on another platform. Li¡¯Yan slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry as she tried to make sense of her surroundings, she realized that she wasn''t seeing through just two eyes, but multiple eyes all over her body. This gave her an all-around vision, which felt natural and not discomforting. Panic surged through her as she struggled to remember how she got there in a cave.
The chamber she found herself in was different from the darkness she had been in before. It looked like a cave, with dirt and various rocks on the walls and ceiling. But the floor was smooth and flat, unlike the rest of the room.
As she looked around the cave, her gaze was drawn to the beautiful glow at the center of the room. The light was composed of swirling chaotic green light, and a clear glass orb floating off the ground. The orb was about the size of a marble, and she had the feeling that it was her somehow.
A strange sensation washed over her, as if something was communicating with her internally. Suddenly, a series of words flashed before her mind¡¯s eye:
SYSTEM STATUS
[SYSTEM TRANSMITTING] PROCESSING...
ISYSTEM ALERTI THE HOST HAS AWAKENED.
[INITIATING CONNECTION WITH HOST...]
Confusion clouded Li¡¯Yan¡¯s thoughts as she tried to comprehend the message. ¡°What host? The system?¡± she muttered to herself, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
Before she could dwell on it further, a flood of information flooded her mind. Memories, skills, and knowledge that she didn¡¯t recall having before surged into her
consciousness. It was overwhelming, like a torrent of data threatening to drown her sanity.
Struggling to make sense of it all, Li¡¯Yan grasped at fragments of memories, trying to piece together her identity and how she ended up in this strange situation. Yet, despite her efforts, the memories remain elusive, like grains of sand slipping through her fingers.
In the midst of her confusion, another message flashed before her:
SYSTEM STATUS
[SYSTEM ALERT] INITIATING SYSTEM INTEGRATION.
Li¡¯Yan felt a strange energy pulsing through her body, as if her very essence was being rewired. She could sense a connection forming between her consciousness and some unseen force, like threads weaving together to form an intricate tapestry of existence.
As the integration process continued, Li¡¯Yan began to feel a sense of empowerment unlike anything she had ever experienced before. It was as if she had tapped into a wellspring of untapped potential, waiting to be unleashed.
With each passing moment, Li¡¯Yan felt herself becoming more attuned to the mysterious system that now resided within her. It was as if she had been reborn, transformed into something greater than herself.
But amidst the newfound power and knowledge, Li¡¯Yan couldn¡¯t shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the depths of her soul. Who was she, truly? And what was the purpose of this enigmatic system that now governed her existence?
With determination burning in her heart, Li¡¯Yan vowed to uncover the truth, no matter what challenges lay ahead. For she knew that only by embracing her newfound identity could she hope to unravel the mysteries of her past and forge a path towards her destiny.
As Li¡¯Yan basked in the comforting embrace of the system¡¯s spiritual companionship, a sudden shift in energy rippled through the room. The cocoon of warmth surrounding her shattered, dispersing into a cascade of shimmering light.
From the fragments of the cocoon emerged a pure white, ethereal spirit, floating gently before her. It glowed with a radiant luminosity, casting a soft, calming aura that filled the room with a sense of serenity.
Li¡¯Yan watched in awe as the spirit hovered before her, its presence soothing her frayed nerves and filling her with a profound sense of peace. It seemed to emanate wisdom and guidance, as if it were a manifestation of the very essence of the system itself.
As Li¡¯Yan mentally reached out to the radiant spirit, her core tingled with a sensation unlike anything she had ever felt before. In that moment of contact, a surge of energy coursed through her, forming a mental connection that transcended words.
Suddenly, a warm, soothing voice echoed in Li¡¯Yan¡¯s mind, resonating with the gentle cadence of a female presence. It spoke with a clarity and wisdom that seemed to surpass human comprehension, its words imbued with a sense of calm reassurance.
¡°Be at peace, Li¡¯Yan,¡± the voice murmured, its tone like a gentle caress against her consciousness. ¡°You are not alone. I am here to guide you, to protect you, to help you unlock the true potential that lies within.¡±
Li¡¯Yan listened intently, her core swelling with gratitude and awe. It was as if the spirit could see into the depths of her soul, understanding her fears and uncertainties with a clarity that defied explanation.
As the warm, soothing voice echoed in her mind, Li¡¯Yan couldn¡¯t help but feel a sense of curiosity blossoming within her. ¡°Do you have a name?¡± she ventured, her thoughts reaching out to the glowing spirit before her.
There was a moment of silence, as if the spirit was contemplating her question, before it replied, ¡°No, dear one. I am but a manifestation of the system¡¯s energy, a companion without a name.¡±
Li¡¯Yan nodded, understanding dawning upon her. But then, a spark of inspiration ignited within her, and she thought hard, searching for the perfect name to bestow upon her newfound companion.
After a moment of contemplation, she whispered softly in her mind, ¡°How about Aurora? Like the dawn, you bring light and hope to my darkest moments.¡±
The spirit seemed to shimmer with approval, its luminous form pulsating with newfound energy. ¡°Aurora,¡± it repeated, the word resonating in Li¡¯Yan¡¯s mind like a beautiful melody. ¡°Yes, I accept this name, dear one. Thank you.¡±
The hues of jade colors from the sphere that she inhabited reflected and danced on the ground and the ceiling, like light refracting in water as it showed her happiness.
Introduction Part One
As Li¡¯Yan basked in the newfound connection with Aurora, she felt a surge of curiosity welling up within her. ¡°Aurora,¡± she began tentatively, ¡°can you tell me more about what you are? What is your purpose?¡±
Aurora¡¯s gentle presence enveloped her mind once more, the warmth of her essence soothing Li¡¯Yan¡¯s restless thoughts. ¡°I am a nascent spirit who is under contract with you - a sentient Dungeon core ,¡± she explained, her voice resonating with a serene wisdom.
Aurora gently explained to Li¡¯Yan that her nascent spirit is a form of energy that doesn¡¯t require physical sustenance like food. Instead, she draws upon the Qi energy provided by Li¡¯Yan, which nourishes her essence and sustains her being.¡°My purpose is to provide guidance and support to those who awaken within the system, helping them navigate its complexities and unlock their true potential.¡±
Li¡¯Yan listened intently, her mind buzzing with questions. ¡°But why me? Why now?¡± she wondered aloud.
Aurora¡¯s ethereal form hovered gracefully, radiating a soft, iridescent light that seemed to dance with the very essence of the cosmos. Her presence exuded a serene aura, imbued with a sense of ancient wisdom and boundless compassion. As she spoke, her voice resonated with a gentle melody, echoing through the vast expanse of the realm.
¡°You were chosen, Li¡¯Yan,¡± she began, her words carrying a weight of profound significance, ¡°because you possess a rare combination of strength, resilience, and compassion. The system, attuned to the intricate patterns of the multiverse, recognized the untapped potential within you and deemed you worthy of its guidance.¡±
In this newly introduced realm, crafted by the system and nestled within the fabric of the multiverse, a delicate balance teetered on the brink of chaos. Here, souls traversed the ethereal landscape, grappling with newfound knowledge and navigating the complexities of existence. It was a realm akin to the Heavenly Origin, where the boundaries between the tangible and the intangible blurred, and the essence of creation flowed like an eternal river.
Aurora¡¯s purpose, as a beacon of enlightenment within this realm, was clear: to aid the unbalanced, the lost, and the seekers of truth. Through her ethereal form and timeless wisdom, she sought to guide those who tread the path of enlightenment, illuminating the darkened corners of uncertainty with the radiant light of understanding.
¡°You are entrusted with a sacred duty, Li¡¯Yan,¡± Aurora continued, her luminous gaze fixing upon the chosen soul before her. ¡°You hold the key to unlocking the dormant potential within those who seek solace and guidance. As a conduit of the system¡¯s knowledge, you possess the power to usher in a new era of harmony and enlightenment.¡±
With a gentle gesture, Aurora extended her hand towards Li¡¯Yan, offering the warmth of her celestial touch. ¡°Embrace your role with humility and grace,¡± she implored, her voice tinged with the echoes of countless ages. ¡°For in your hands lies the power to shape the destiny of this realm and all who inhabit it.¡±
¡°As the multiverse expands and evolves,¡± Aurora elucidated, her celestial form shimmering with a profound understanding, ¡°the system, ever vigilant, adapts to the shifting tapestry of existence. With each new realm introduced into the boundless expanse of creation, new functions are woven into the fabric of the system, ensuring harmony amidst the chaos.¡±
She paused, her luminous gaze casting a knowing glance towards the horizon where the edges of the universe met the infinite void. ¡°When this realm ¡°The Six Realms¡±became one with the multiverse,¡± Aurora continued, her voice resonating with a sense of solemnity, ¡°the system recognized the need for balance, for order amidst the swirling maelstrom of possibilities.¡±
And so, in its infinite wisdom, the system unveiled the concept of Dungeon Cores¡ªa manifestation of stability amidst the ever-shifting currents of the void. These ethereal constructs served as anchors, grounding the energies of the realm and channeling them towards a singular purpose: to maintain equilibrium amidst the chaos.
¡°Dungeon Cores,¡± Aurora explained, her words carrying the weight of cosmic significance, ¡°are the guardians of balance, the custodians of order within the labyrinthine depths of the multiverse. They stand as beacons of stability, their presence imbuing the realm with a sense of structure and purpose.¡±
With a graceful gesture, Aurora¡¯s ethereal form seemed to shimmer with newfound intensity, as if resonating with the very essence of the Dungeon Cores themselves. ¡°Embrace their presence, Li¡¯Yan,¡± she urged, her voice echoing through the vastness of the cosmos. ¡°For they are the guardians of this realm, entrusted with the task of maintaining harmony amidst the boundless expanse of the multiverse.¡±
Aurora asked Li¡¯Yan if she remembered much about her home before being a Dungeon Core. Li¡¯Yan said not much. She explained that her memories were vague and fragmented, like fleeting glimpses of a distant dream. She could recall fleeting images of lush forests, towering mountains, and shimmering rivers, but nothing concrete or coherent. Li¡¯Yan seemed resigned to the fact that her previous life was lost to her, buried beneath the layers of her new existence as a Dungeon Core.
Li¡¯Yan explained that while she couldn¡¯t recall personal details or specific events from her previous life, she retained some general knowledge about the world outside her dungeon. She could describe the geography of the land, the different species that inhabited it, and basic historical facts. However, anything related to her own identity or experiences remained elusive and inaccessible to her. This novel is published on a different platform. Li¡¯Yan explained what memories she had that she recalled. Within the grand tapestry of the Heavenly Origin Realm, the Milky Way Galaxy, the Galaxy she was from, stood as a jewel of celestial significance, intricately woven into the fabric of this cosmic domain. Its spiral arms stretched across vast distances, adorned with clusters of stars and nebulae, each a testament to the sublime beauty of creation.
As part of the Heavenly Origin Realm, the Milky Way transcended mere astronomical significance, becoming a nexus of cosmic energy and divine influence. Its celestial dance of stars and planets resonated with the harmonies of the universe, echoing the primordial song of creation itself. That was why Origin became part of the name for her Realm.
Deep within the heart of the galaxy, where stars clustered in luminous embrace, lay centers of immense power and wisdom. Here, celestial beings of unfathomable age and wisdom held court, their ethereal presence guiding the flow of cosmic energies and shaping the destiny of worlds.
Throughout the Milky Way, civilizations rose and fell, each leaving their mark upon the fabric of existence. From the ancient ruins of long-forgotten empires to the gleaming spires of advanced starfaring societies, the galaxy teemed with life and possibility, each soul a spark of the divine essence that permeated the Heavenly Origin Realm.
But amidst the splendor of the Milky Way, shadows lurked in the cosmic depths.
Forces of darkness and entropy sought to corrupt and consume, threatening to unravel the delicate balance of creation. Yet, in the face of adversity, the light of hope burned bright, kindled by the eternal flame of celestial guardians who watched over the galaxy with steadfast resolve.
Within the Milky Way, mortal beings gazed upon the heavens with wonder and reverence, seeking to unlock the secrets of the cosmos and ascend to greater heights of understanding.
People charted the stars, delved into the mysteries of quantum mechanics, and plumbed the depths of their own souls in search of enlightenment.
And as people journeyed deeper into the cosmic unknown, they found that the Milky Way was but one thread in the rich tapestry of the Heavenly Origin Realm, a realm of boundless wonder and infinite possibility, where the true nature of existence awaited those bold enough to seek it.
Li¡¯Yan paused, a flicker of recognition crossing hee core as the reflective light danced. ¡°Yes,¡± she said softly, ¡°I remember now. I was from the planet Earth.¡± She explained that before becoming a Dungeon Core, she had been a main disciple to the only Heavenly God in the galaxy. While she couldn¡¯t recall the details of her interactions with the Heavenly God or the specifics of her duties, she retained a sense of reverence and awe for that celestial being. However, even these memories were hazy and fragmented, much like the rest of her past life.
Li¡¯Yan gave a basic lesson to Aurora on how Earth was introduced to the wide multiverse.
Humanity¡¯s journey towards advanced technology and the discovery of the multiverse began with centuries of scientific exploration and innovation. Breakthroughs in fields like physics, astronomy, and quantum mechanics paved the way for understanding the fundamental nature of the universe.
One pivotal moment came with the development of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the early 21st century. This colossal particle accelerator allowed scientists to probe the deepest mysteries of matter and energy, eventually leading to the discovery of exotic particles and phenomena. Later humanity called these particle mana or Qi energy.
Through the LHC experiments, scientists stumbled upon anomalies suggesting the existence of additional dimensions beyond the familiar three spatial dimensions and one time dimension. Further research and collaboration across disciplines confirmed the presence of a multiverse¡ªa vast cosmic expanse encompassing countless parallel universes, each with its own laws of physics.
As humanity delved deeper into the multiverse, they discovered portals¡ªrifts in space-time that allowed travel between different universes. These portals which were created from chaotic, and unbalanced Qi that were initially found by accident, and later studied and harnessed for exploration.
Venturing through these portals, explorers encountered diverse civilizations inhabiting worlds beyond their own. Some were technologically advanced, while others were at earlier stages of development. Interactions with these civilizations sparked cultural exchanges, scientific collaboration, and occasionally, conflicts as humanity navigated its newfound place in the multiverse.
The discovery of the multiverse opened doors to unimaginable possibilities, propelling humanity into an era of exploration, innovation, and understanding on a cosmic scale. That was when humanity on Earth began to know of the entity System.
As humanity delved further into the exploration of the multiverse, they encountered enigmatic phenomena known as the Black Gates¡ªominous portals of varying ranks, ranging from 1 star to the catastrophic 5-star gates. These gates, when left unchecked, brought forth devastation upon Earth as countless creatures poured out, wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting civilizations.
Only those individuals attuned to the energies of Qi or mana were capable of traversing these gates, their awakened abilities granting them access to the realms beyond. Through the valiant efforts of these awakened individuals, the relentless onslaught of creatures from the Black Gates was often repelled, albeit at great cost.
However, the true danger lay in the emergence of abominations from the highest-ranked gates. One such horror that emerged from a level 5 gate brought untold destruction, laying waste to entire nations before it could be subdued. Its rampage served as a stark reminder of the perilous nature of meddling with the forces of the multiverse.
Yet, amidst the chaos and devastation, humanity persevered, learning to harness the particles left behind by the slain creatures to interact with the environment of Earth in novel ways. Despite the dangers posed by the Black Gates, humanity continued its exploration, driven by an insatiable curiosity and the hope of forging alliances with peaceful civilizations across the multiverse.
Blueprints
¡°The beings belonging in the Six Realms are broken up into different planes of existence unlike Earth, which has one plane¡±. Aurora hovered across from Li¡¯Yan, her light filled with gentle wisdom as she began to explain the concept of the Six Realms. ¡°Li¡¯Yan,¡± she said softly, ¡°imagine existence as a wheel, constantly turning, with six distinct realms, each representing different states of being.¡±
She began with the realm of the Devas, where beings experience bliss and joy beyond human comprehension. ¡°This realm,¡± she explained, ¡°is inhabited by celestial beings, living in splendor and pleasure, yet often unaware of the suffering in other realms.¡±
Next, she described the realm of the Asuras, filled with power-seeking beings driven by jealousy and aggression. ¡°In this realm,¡± Aurora continued, ¡°beings are consumed by their desire for dominance, constantly battling for supremacy, yet never finding true satisfaction.¡±
Then, she spoke of the realm of the Humans, where beings experience a mixture of pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, as they navigate the complexities of existence. ¡°We reside in this realm,¡± Aurora said, ¡°striving to find balance and enlightenment amidst life¡¯s challenges.¡±
She moved on to the realm of the Animals, where beings live primarily by instinct, driven by basic desires and survival needs. ¡°In this realm,¡± she noted, ¡°beings lack the capacity for higher reasoning, often trapped in cycles of fear and instinctual behavior.¡±
Aurora¡¯s voice grew solemn as she described the realm of the Hungry Ghosts, where beings are tormented by insatiable cravings and unfulfilled desires. ¡°These beings,¡± she explained, ¡°are consumed by their thirst and hunger, unable to find satisfaction no matter how much they consume.¡±
Finally, she spoke of the realm of Hell, where beings endure intense suffering and anguish as a result of their past actions and negative karma. ¡°This realm,¡± Aurora said gravely, ¡°is characterized by relentless agony and despair, yet it is not eternal. It is a temporary state, determined by one¡¯s actions and choices.¡±
Li¡¯Yan listened intently, absorbing Aurora¡¯s words with a mixture of fascination and contemplation. As she finished her explanation, Aurora offered a reassuring smile. ¡°Remember, Li¡¯Yan,¡± she said, ¡°the Six Realms are not only fixed destinations, but also reflections of our own inner state and the consequences of our actions. Through mindfulness and compassion, we can transcend these realms and attain liberation.¡±
Next, Aurora guided Li¡¯Yan through the intricacies of the dungeon core¡¯s path of ascension; she spoke with a gentle yet authoritative tone. ¡°The path of ascension is a journey of growth and mastery,¡± she began, her voice echoing in the dimly lit chamber. ¡°It starts with understanding the core¡¯s essence, its purpose, and its connection to the surrounding world.¡±
She led Li¡¯Yan through the winding corridors, pointing out various chambers and nodes along the way. ¡°Each step along the path requires diligence and insight. You must cultivate your core¡¯s energy, channeling it to strengthen your defenses and empower your guardians,¡± Aurora explained, her words carrying a weight of wisdom.
As Aurora spoke, Li¡¯Yan listened intently, absorbing every detail. ¡°Strategic expansion is key,¡± Aurora continued, ¡°gradually extending your territory while maintaining defenses to fend off intruders. It¡¯s a delicate dance of expansion and consolidation.¡±
As they delved deeper into the dungeon, Aurora elaborated on the challenges that lay ahead. ¡°To ascend, one must confront their fears and overcome obstacles that test both strength and cunning,¡± she said, her eyes glinting with determination. ¡°But with perseverance and strategic thinking, the rewards are boundless.¡±
Aurora paused, allowing Li¡¯Yan a moment to absorb the knowledge she had imparted. ¡°Remember, the path of ascension is not just about power, but about understanding the balance between protection and progression,¡± she concluded, her voice resolute.
¡°Li¡¯Yan, now that you¡¯re no longer human and have become a dungeon core, the status screen by the system looks different. Let¡¯s take a look together and see what new abilities and features you have gained.¡±
Aurora continued, ¡°To see everything about yourself think status and a screen should pop up.¡±
As Li¡¯Yan mentally thought of the status a blue screen showed up and she marveled at the wealth of information before her, Aurora began to explain the significance of what they were seeing. ¡°You see, Li¡¯Yan,¡± she began, her voice imbued with wisdom, ¡°as a Sentient Dungeon Core, your purpose is to oversee and manage the various aspects of the system.¡±
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.Li¡¯Yan listened intently as Aurora continued to elucidate, her mind buzzing with newfound understanding.
Aurora¡¯s soothing voice resonated in Li¡¯Yan¡¯s mind as she explained, ¡°This is your character screen, Li¡¯Yan. It contains vital information about your status, abilities, and progress within the system.¡±

Li¡¯Yan¡¯s core light shimmered in wonder as she studied the intricate details of the display. ¡°But what exactly is a dungeon core?¡± she asked, her curiosity piqued.
Aurora¡¯s form glowed with a soft light as she began to explain, ¡°A dungeon core is a central entity within the system, responsible for maintaining and regulating the various aspects of the environment. It serves as the heart of the system, controlling everything from the layout of the dungeons to the distribution of resources.¡±
Li¡¯Yan nodded, absorbing Aurora¡¯s words with fascination. ¡°So, does that mean I¡¯m like a guardian of this system?¡± she mused aloud.
Aurora¡¯s presence shimmered with approval as she replied, ¡°In a way, yes. As the dungeon core, you have the power to shape and mold the world around you, creating new challenges and opportunities for those who enter the system. But with great power comes great responsibility, Li¡¯Yan. It is up to you to wield your abilities wisely and ensure the balance of the system is maintained.¡±
Li¡¯Yan nodded solemnly, understanding the weight of her newfound role. With Aurora¡¯s guidance, she would strive to become a worthy steward of the system.
As Li¡¯Yan absorbed Aurora¡¯s explanation about the role of a dungeon core, she felt a surge of determination welling up within her. ¡°Where do I begin?¡± she asked, eager to put her newfound knowledge into practice.
Aurora¡¯s luminous form shimmered with encouragement as she replied, ¡°Let us start by expanding your aura, Li¡¯Yan. Your light serves as the boundary of your territory within the system, defining the limits of your influence.¡±
With Aurora¡¯s guidance, Li¡¯Yan focused her thoughts, channeling the energy of the system into her being. She felt a tingling sensation spreading from her core, radiating outward like ripples on a pond.
As she concentrated, a soft, green glow began to emanate from her form, enveloping the chamber in a warm, comforting light. Slowly, she extended her aura, visualizing the boundaries of her territory expanding outward in all directions. With each passing moment, the glow of her light grew stronger, illuminating the surrounding darkness and marking her domain within the system.
As the process continued, Li¡¯Yan could sense the energy of the system responding to her command, shifting and rearranging itself to accommodate the expansion of her aura. It was a profound moment, as if she were imprinting her presence upon the very fabric of the world around her.
Li¡¯Yan felt that her Qi was getting low and stopped. As Li¡¯Yan marveled at the expanse of her territory, Aurora¡¯s voice once again resonated in her mind, guiding her through the intricacies of the realm they inhabited.
While Li¡¯Yan let her Qi regenerate, Aurora began to talk about the Six Realms, ¡°Welcome, Li¡¯Yan, to the world of cultivation, The Six Realms¡± Aurora began, her tone filled with a sense of reverence. ¡°Here, within the confines of the system, beings strive to unlock their true potential and ascend to higher planes of existence.¡±
Li¡¯Yan listened intently as Aurora continued to explain the workings of the realm. ¡°In this world, most humans possess something called a Spirit Root,¡± Aurora elaborated. ¡°An individual must possess a spirit root in order to walk the cultivation pathway, Li¡¯Yan. It is the foundation upon which one¡¯s cultivation journey is built, allowing them to absorb and manipulate the Qi from their surroundings.¡±
Li¡¯Yan nodded in understanding, absorbing the information with keen interest. ¡°What about me?¡± she asked, curiosity burning within her. ¡°What kind of Spirit Root do I have?¡±
Aurora¡¯s presence shimmered with a gentle light as she replied, ¡°You, Li¡¯Yan, possess a wind Spirit Root. It is a rare and coveted root, imbued with the essence of the air itself.¡±
Li¡¯Yan¡¯s eyes widened in surprise at the revelation. A wind Spirit Root? She had never imagined herself to be connected to such an element, for earth never had a thing called spirit roots; all they had was skills that they unlocked. ¡°But you mentioned something about mine being mutated,¡± she prompted, eager to learn more.
Aurora nodded, her form pulsating with a soft glow. ¡°Indeed,¡± she confirmed. ¡°A mutated spiritual root is a rare phenomenon, achieved by combining two or more of the five basic elements¡ªearth, fire, water, wood, and metal.¡±
¡°Other mixed Spirit Roots include Ice, Lightning, and Darkness,¡± Aurora continued, her voice resonating with a profound wisdom. ¡°Each one possesses its own unique qualities and abilities, allowing cultivators to tap into the elemental forces of nature in their pursuit of enlightenment.¡±
¡°But what about those who possess multiple spiritual roots?¡± Li¡¯Yan pressed, her curiosity burning brightly.
Aurora¡¯s presence radiated with wisdom as she replied, ¡°While it may seem advantageous to possess multiple spiritual roots, it can also be a double-edged sword. Cultivators with multiple spiritual roots must fill all of them with Qi from the surroundings in order to advance to the next stage of cultivation. It is a challenging task that requires great skill and determination.¡±
Li¡¯Yan nodded thoughtfully, understanding the complexities of cultivation more deeply with each passing moment. It was a path fraught with peril and uncertainty, yet filled with the promise of boundless potential.
The First Battle
Li''Yan asked a question to A.V.A about her creatures and listened attentively to A.V.A''s explanation about what happens when her creatures die. She was relieved to know that their invested Qi would return to her, and they would leave behind loot that could be used for crafting rewards. She was intrigued by the possibility of creating weapons, armor, and apothecary materials with the loot, which could greatly enhance her capabilities in the Three Realms.
As Li''Yan was about to ask another question, she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, and A.V.A reassured her that it was a customary warning from the System for all dungeons. Li''Yan''s curiosity was piqued, and she immediately asked A.V.A to provide her with more information about the warning.
A.V.A quickly accessed the System''s database and informed Li''Yan that the warning was a signal that something was amiss in the Mortal Realm and it was close by. It could be an incoming threat, an approaching enemy, or a disturbance in the balance of the world. The System used this warning to alert dungeon owners like Li''Yan to be vigilant and prepared for potential challenges.
Li''Yan nodded, taking the warning seriously. She was determined to protect her hidden oasis and her creations at all costs.
A.V.A analyzed the situation and informed Li''Yan that there were several rogue creatures detected in the vicinity of her cavern. These creatures seemed to have bypassed the usual entrance checks and were now roaming freely in the Mortal Realm, posing a potential threat to Li''Yan and her creations.
As Li''Yan observed the strange creatures that had entered her dungeon, she couldn''t help but feel a sense of unease. These creatures were unlike anything she had encountered in the Three Realms before. They were not what she had expected, and she couldn''t quite determine what kind of creatures they were. Were they monkeys with mutations gone wrong? Or something else entirely?
Their matted black fur, crazy red eyes that glowed, and the thick black hazy smoke that followed them made her shudder. She assumed that the largest of the eight creatures was their leader, as it walked with a commanding presence and seemed to be fixated on her staircase entrance.
Li''Yan turned to A.V.A, her trusted companion, and asked if this was normal. A.V.A''s response sent a chill down her spine. These creatures were from the underworld, and they were known to be in tune with their carnal desires and unwilling to follow directions unless it benefited them. Li''Yan''s instincts told her that this was a dangerous situation.
She quickly assessed her options. Her newly created creatures were powerful, but she wasn''t sure if they were a match for these underworld creatures. She could try to communicate with them, but their reputation made her doubt their willingness to negotiate. She could also try to use her Qi to strengthen her defenses and repel the intruders, but she wasn''t sure if it would be enough. The creatures responded with guttural growls and hisses, clearly showing their hostility. The leader¡¯s red eyes glowed even brighter with an aggressive intent. It lunged towards the others with a feral snarl.
The battle that ensued was fierce and chaotic. The underworld creatures were formidable opponents, using their brute strength and dark powers to try and break through Li''Yan''s defenses. Li''Yan and her creatures fought with all their might, using their skills and strategies to push the intruders back, determined to protect their home.
As the battle raged on, Li''Yan realized that these underworld creatures were relentless and cunning. They were not easily deterred, and their numbers seemed to be overwhelming her and her creatures. She knew that she needed to come up with a new plan, and fast.
With their retreat, Li''Yan and her creatures regrouped, taking a defensive stance and preparing for the next onslaught. She knew that the battle was far from over, and she needed to come up with a strategic plan to defeat these underworld creatures once and for all.
Li''Yan looked to A.V.A for advice, and together they analyzed the situation. They devised a plan to use her creatures'' unique abilities in combination with her own skills and powers to create a coordinated attack against the intruders. They also decided to set up additional traps and barriers in strategic locations to further deter the invaders.
With their plan in place, Li''Yan and her creatures launched a counterattack. They used their falling traps, Qi-enhanced abilities, and strategic positioning to gain the upper hand.
As the battle raged on, the situation in the cavern grew chaotic. The dragonflies continued to unleash their wind blades, slicing through the air and occasionally scraping the monkeys as they dodged and weaved. The smarter monkeys, particularly the leader, showed agility in evading the blades, while some of the followers fell victim to the silk wires that were strategically placed by the Celestial Moths.
The katydids, although not built for offensive combat, used their loud noises and distracting movements to add to the chaos, making it harder for the monkeys to focus on their attacks. Meanwhile, stalactites fell from the ceiling, creating a perilous environment for both the intruders and the defending creatures. Some monkeys managed to evade the traps, but others were caught by the sawtooth beetle, which did its best to slice and dice them. The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
Despite the fierce resistance, some of the monkeys still pressed forward, showing determination to reach the core room of the dungeon. They attempted to go after the beetles to eliminate the threat, but their lack of focus due to the distractions and traps hindered their progress. The defending creatures, although not suited for offensive battles, used their unique abilities to delay and injure the intruders as much as possible.
As the battle continued, it became apparent that the defense was holding up, and the intruders were struggling to make progress. The combination of wind blades, silk wires, distracting noises, falling stalactites, and the sawtooth beetle''s attacks proved to be a formidable defense, buying more time for the Celestial Moths to set up further traps in the core room. The tide of the battle seemed to be turning in favor of the dungeon''s defenders.
The battle continued to rage on, with your creatures putting up a valiant defense. However, the monkeys were persistent and determined, and despite the obstacles Li¡¯Yan had set up, some of them managed to slip past her defenses and make their way towards the staircase leading to the core room of their dungeon. It was clear that she would need to come up with additional strategies to further delay and repel the intruders, lest they reach the heart of their dungeon and pose a threat to her plans.
As Li''Yan surveyed the aftermath of the battle, she took note of the casualties among her insect defenders. Her heart sank as she realized that three of the eight insects she had sent into battle were down, including one that had been crushed under a boulder that had been cut to pieces by the enemy insects. This loss had cost her all of her katydids, leaving her with only five dragonflies guarding the core chamber.
While the dragonflies had fared better due to their speed, they were still not ideal defenders against these particular enemies. Li''Yan realized that she needed a more solid defense, something that could withstand the robustness of the enemy monkeys. She knew she wouldn''t be able to determine the enemy''s rank until they were defeated, but she had her suspicions.
In addition to the casualties among her katydids, she had also lost two dragonflies and one sawtooth insect in the battle. The situation was dire, and Li''Yan knew she had to come up with a new strategy if she wanted to protect the core chamber and defeat the enemy insects. She took a moment to assess her remaining forces and consider her options, knowing that the fate of her mission depended on her next move.
Li''Yan quickly ordered her remaining insects to engage the injured monkey creatures, hoping to buy time for her other creatures to regroup and mount a defense. Her insects swarmed the creatures, attacking with all their might, but the injured monkeys fought back fiercely, fueled by the black haze that seemed to be taking over them.
However, the leader of the group, who appeared to be the least injured, was able to resist the effects of the golden orbs and the silks. The monkeys seemed to go into a frenzy, as the black haze surrounding them seemed to take over their minds. They tore through her remaining dragonflies, showing signs of going berserk due to a passive skill that activated when their health reached a certain threshold.
As a monkey fell into the pitfall trap, Li''Yan felt a mix of relief and satisfaction. Her traps had worked, and she had managed to eliminate some of the enemy invaders. She watched as the monkey struggled in the pit, its movements growing weaker as the stone needle in its head did its job.
The remaining monkeys had made it past the traps in the hallway and entered her core room. Li''Yan knew that she had to act quickly. She sent her surviving insects to attack, and they managed to wear down the leader and his sidekick. It was a tough battle, and Li''Yan felt a pang of sadness as she watched her bugs fall one by one. But they had done their job, and the surviving monkey was now alone in the room.
The leader monkey, wary of traps, cautiously moved around the room, searching for Li''Yan or any hidden dangers. But instead, it found her few remaining bugs. Thanks to their distraction, the monkey fell into a pitfall trap that Li''Yan had made deeper than the others, ensuring that the fall would be more incapacitating. Li''Yan had carefully planned her defenses, knowing that she needed to be strategic in order to protect her core.
As Li''Yan unleashed her last desperate attack, the leader was buried under tons of rubble from the collapsing ceiling. The impact was so powerful that it shook the entire chamber, causing more debris to fall and block the exits. Li''Yan''s vision started faded as she felt her strength draining, her energy spent from the intense battle.
As she was mentally spent in the darkness that was crouching on her, surrounded by the ruins of the chamber, Li''Yan could hear faint sounds of movement from beneath the rubble. The leader was not finished yet. He was clawing his way out, fueled by his relentless determination and dark power. Li''Yan knew she had to act quickly.
Summoning all her remaining energy, Li''Yan channeled it into the core. The core glowed with a brilliant jade light, and Li''Yan felt its power surge through her. She focused her mind and directed the energy towards the leader, unleashing a powerful blast of Qi that shattered the rubble and sent the leader flying.
The leader let out a guttural scream as he was thrown back, his body battered and broken. Li''Yan''s vision blurred even more, and she could feel her strength slipping away rapidly. But she knew she had to finish this. With one final effort, she mustered all her remaining energy and channeled it into a final, devastating attack.
The leader tried to retaliate, but Li''Yan''s attack was too powerful. A massive burst of green energy engulfed the leader, rays of light shot through him into. The leader was engulfed in the dazzling needle light show. The chamber fell silent, and Li''Yan''s body slumped to the ground, utterly exhausted.
And then darkness enveloped her completely as she succumbed to exhaustion, knowing that she had succeeded in saving her people and putting an end to the leader''s tyranny. Her sacrifice would be remembered as a heroic tale, and her name would live on in the legends of her people.
A new world
The world moved in a fast forward motion picture of smeary colors and came to a stop. Blankets of blackness were now in front of me. The ground is fine gray sand; it falls through my fingers as I pick some up. Ashes fell onto my hand and the surrounding environment. Looking up into the sky was a limitless black hole.
Large, darker shadows seemed to fly in the void, giving me a freezing pressure on my soul. I am not even sure what type of creature they were, but I could hear ancient languages and screams that I could not comprehend by just looking at their shadows. If the enormous creatures were eating another giant beast, who would be the supreme? Then what would be the largest? I thought.
There was a heavy feeling of death. All I could smell was decay. Is this mystical realm real or just an illusion? If it was an illusion, was it my soul or another being implementing it? Is it an ascended being?
If this is reality, where is it? Was the world that I was in a fake one?
I could not see very far, and even around my body was a vast gray dune made up of the fine sand I touched a second ago. This environment seemed familiar to me, but I could not seem to put the name of this place or the last time I went there.
Before I noticed it, a thick fog became known as the temperature drops. The wind that was just a breeze became like howls of demons crying and it felt like needles against my skin. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, where multiple shadows were showing through the hazy currents from within it.
People of all ages walk at a slow, rickety pace, with gray skin, red eyes, and a black smock covering their torn-up clothes. Their skin is like the cracked earth going without water. Black cracks covered their bodies, and Black flames came out of them. All the bodies had white faces like chalk and dried blackish, reddish blood running down their faces coming from their eyes.
I believe some bodies were ghosts. The ghosts were in a milky white are just floating in one spot¡ªicicles falling on the gray floor from their semi-transparent body. There were bones scattered across this place. Some of the larger bones had a spiritual pressure surrounding themselves;I don''t know if they''re from an ancient being or a beast of higher ranking.
The body I was now in was a child¡¯s body wearing dirty hide coverings for clothes. She has shoulder-length brown hair and is about the age of six. Bruises covered her white faired skin. Compared to some bodies of the dead or their remains, I was like an insufficient ant. I could be meals to the horrors that I laid my eyes on.
Our foot, I should say, slipped in the sand. The sudden call of death made me shiver. I saw the dead people and ghosts turn to look at me and say, ¡°Why?¡± I wasn¡¯t sure what they were talking about; why what? There were so many things that could complete their why sentence.
One of the closest male corpses seemed to teleport right in front of my girlish body and demanded to know as he pulled me to him; his hand burnt my flesh, and he tried to strangle me as one of his hands wrapped around my neck to lift me off the ground. My small, pitiful hand could barely move his fingers that were plastered to my skin. Tears were running down my cheeks, tasting salt on my tongue.Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? I let out a painful scream as he squeezed my neck, but it seemed to push him to torment me more by holding my mouth with the other and bringing his face closer. Again, the burning of my flesh was agonizing compared to him sucking out my inner Qi from my body. I could hardly make a sound coming out of my mouth.
Just as I felt my soul departing my body, I saw an old man wearing a full-back flowing robe. It looked like his skin was stretched and molded to his bones and eyes; I could see so much evil in them. His mouth was in a dreadful grin as it was moving, but I could not hear what he was saying. Hands were popping out of the ground as his whitish hair soared in the ashed-covered wind.
---------------------------------------------
I felt the evil within my trance. It wanted to get me, and it will keep attempting till it does. It felt like years of this vile thing caressed me. Then, finally, I woke up with a scream and a sudden headache. I knew I had no head for a headache, but I think that was from the internal pain that I experienced in the vision.
It was a mess when I woke up. The System messages were going off in this annoying tune that only A.V.A and I could hear. I quickly glanced at the damage and found out that the rubble and the corpses in my dungeon were still the same before I succumbed to my terrorized dream.
[Ding!] The Host has succeeded in its first invasion; although the Host went berserk and suffered damage, in the end, you were able to gain wisdom from battle. To honor you here is a skill.
[Ding!] The Host has gained the following skill:
[Berserk]
I think that this system is sarcastic with its comments toward me. I mean, really! You might as well make fun of me. Although, for that number of enhanced enemies, I admit that I will prepare more next time. I turned back to my thoughts and kept reading.
[Ding!] By slaughtering off x8 Devil Qi-infested Monkeys, The Host has gained 80 exp and 16 Dungeon points.
Precious! I absorbed the following dead bodies scattered across my pathetic two rooms and hallways. It felt so wonderful to feel the rush of Qi coming back inside the core.
I am not human anymore, so I have no issues taking my rightful treasures from battles. On the contrary, I will do anything to survive.
[Ding!] The Host has unlocked the following from the corpses from absorbing the Devil Qi-infested Monkeys.
-Monkey pelts
-Monkey Meat
-Devil Earthen Beast Core
-Devil Flame Beast Core
-The Blueprint for Devil Qi-infested Monkeys
¡°A.V.A, what is a beast''s core?¡± I asked, glimpsing at the two recent blueprints of the cores that I had managed to get.
¡°A Beast with a core is considered an intelligent creature compared to standard animals on Earth. Therefore, beast Cores are a highly prized commodity; these cores store the cultivated realm of the slain creature. Other living beings that desire to develop in the cultivation realm or rise in power will pursue the Beasts to obtain them to consume their essence Qi. The Cores are also used to produce magical items or weapons for cultivators.¡± A.V.A told me.
I had reset all of my traps destroyed by the intense battle. After that, I focused on reviving my new creatures in the same rooms as before. I knew it would take a long time before the dungeon was back in tip-top shape due to pause to restore Qi. Rechecking my status screen; It thrilled me to see what my power and skill looked like. The shop was surprising, and I was optimistic about seeing if I got something good in the shop I had just unlocked.
Heavenly Monkeys
Dungeon Core: Qi Gathering Stage
Level: 2 (80/200 exp)
Dungeon points: 16
Floors: 1
Species unlocked: 4
Bosses: (0/2)
Traps: 3
Skills unlocked: 4
-Pain Intolerance
Pain Intolerance is the ability to reduce the effect of the enemy¡¯s pain that can be inflicted on the Host.
-Qi Manipulation
Qi Manipulation is the ability to harness Qi in unique ways using skillful controls to exert what the Host wants.
- Analyze
Analyze is the ability to scan or see any object¡¯s name and function by glancing at the item in question.
-Berserk
Berserk is the ability to give a creature a boost in strength and endurance for ten seconds, but on the downside, the said creature will not listen to commands.
My skills were looking excellent. I couldn¡¯t wait to comprehend more because learning more would offer me a better chance to survive. When I get everything sorted, I will practice and experiment even if it takes a while to learn more skills.
When I saw a new window available to me, I kept going through notifications. Evolutionary Paths is the name of the window. I clicked it, showing that I unlocked two new plants.
[Ding!] The following flora, Luminescent Cave Moss and Cave Mushroom can now evolve.
-Luminescent Blood Moss
Luminescent Blood Moss is the evolved version of the Luminescent Cave Moss; it developed by absorbing a large quantity of blood for some time. When used for medicinal, this moss can help with blood loss and regenerate a tiny amount of blood.
-Heat Spore
The Heat Spore is the evolved version of the Cave Mushroom; it developed by being able to survive and absorb heat from the fire that was in the environment. When used as a defender, the Heat Spore will burst high-temperature heat from its cap at enemies. It can grow up to one foot tall. Being used as a medicinal herb causes a tiny amount of heat resistance.
Battles can have caused evolutionary paths for my plants. It would help my creatures, too, with more matches. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
I had not overlooked the loots construct that would be dropped from my creatures, but now that I unlocked another animal that could be a defender, I wanted to do all the loot after creating a more athletic beast.
Pulling up my new Monkey Blueprint, instead of one pattern, offered me two: one male and the other female.
The male was enormous and had more muscle mass than the female; while the female looked vulnerable, it was leaner too, for speed. It did not impress me, either way, knowing that I could improve my new monkey defenders more sufficiently than the standard blueprint.
But I had high hopes for them because they were from another realm, so that they would be unanticipated. Also, they were already strong even without the new modifications that I will do on them.
I pulled up the male pattern first and enlarged it. On my first floor, I wanted the Monkeys to be the central defender. I took the black haze off, thinking that was the part making them Devil-like. I didn¡¯t want it to be deranged.
I reset their bones and strengthened them with some Qi so that they could stand up on their hind legs on their own if they wanted to. Next, I streamed some of the Qi into their muscles so that they had a chance of regenerating torn ligaments during battle to help them last longer.
The blueprint showed that they could grow to 6 feet tall when standing straight on their hind paws. Next, I enhanced their top two and bottom two fangs with Qi to make them sturdier and sharper to help for a powerful bite when attacking enemies.
I wanted to make the eyes more prominent by enhancing their facial features and improving their vision; as for the ears, I made them more human-like but enhanced their hearing. As a result, they should now have sharper eyesight and night vision, while they should be able to hear from a long distance for the ears.
I then placed some generic Qi just on their outer body. That will strengthen their body''s defense; if not, hopefully, their fur will deflect some weapons or skills away from them.
Moving on to the female pattern, I did the same to the muscles by putting Qi in them as I did with the males, but not as strongly. Again, I am focusing on agility with the female, not brute strength. I made the muscle ligaments of Qi; the hologram of the female blueprint grew to where they would be in the 5 foot 6 inches range. I did the same to their eyes, ears, and fangs as I did with the male version.
I was ready to see what the System would count them as. I had invested more Qi into this pair than with my insect defenders.
[Ding!] The Host made a modified, non-Devilish version of the Devil Qi-infested Monkeys. Because the Host took out the Devil aspect to the blueprint, would you like to use this blueprint? If so, the original blueprint will be lost [Yes] or [No]?
Yes. I thought excitedly
Congratulations to the Host for creating a rank 1-star unique creature. Please see the status for information.
[Heavenly Blessed Monkey]
I wasted no time inspecting my new monkey. Fortunately, the name sounded the opposite of the last version. Don¡¯t get me wrong, the previous version was excellent, but I want the best, and I saw some points I don¡¯t think cultivators would like, for example, something evil. I know there is a slight chance of demonic cultivators, but the majority would probably go after the core to destroy beings of evil.
Nevertheless, I wanted to stay here and not be eliminated; an active part wanted to show everyone that I was a being that was superior to them. Therefore, I would make the most gorgeous and deadly being they have ever tried to destroy.
Status!
Heavenly Blessed Monkey
Rank: 1
Qi: None
Description: As a newly evolved version of the Devil Qi-infested Monkeys, it has no essential Qi element. However, Heaven has given a blessing to harness all the Qi in multiple evolutionary paths. When in a group, these monkeys are territorial scavengers and omnivores.
If I had a smile and ears, I would be grinning ear to ear. But instead, I was an orb; I had just the plan to unlock two paths that were probably part of the multiple paths the System was talking about. The beast cores.
Looking at the blueprints to the cores, I did the same as my old monkey blueprint; I took out the black haze from the Flame Beast Core and the Earthen Beast Core. What it left were two gorgeous cores. One looked like it had a condensed orange-red star in its orb, while the other had a golden-green hue where the two colors were fighting for dominance.
[Ding!] The Host has unlocked the following
[Flame Beast Core] and [Earthen Beast Core]
I was super excited about my idea, but. First, I needed to take things slowly. I pictured my new monkey and thought, spawn! The first one was male, and I continued until I ran out of my stored Qi essence. I have made five so far.
I didn¡¯t want them to stand there while I waited for more Qi to restore in the core, so I had them patrol the area I claimed just in case something else happened.
Guardian Monkeys
Waiting for Qi to fill up again, I made a hallway for my second room on the first floor. The new hallway entrance will be where I put my core in the wall while battling the remaining monkeys and the leader. I moved my body back into the center of the room, away from the wall.
I ¡°ate¡± a hallway comfortable for an adult human male to walk through. Instead of a straight path, I wanted a cross-section. After getting to about 25 feet, my Qi was brimming again in the core.
Taking my eyesight back to myself in the room; I did the same thing again and summoned five more heavenly monkeys. I had the first group that was first patrolling returned to me. Overall, I had six males and four females.
I was looking at my newest group of the family. Don''t kill each other, find the leader among you. I sent the thought into all of their minds.
All the females backed up from the group of males. I gave them a questioning look; I have no issues having a female leader, but I got my answer when I saw my males fighting. My males ripped each other apart with their fangs, flesh-ripping apart. They were throwing each other onto the ground and punching.
They impressed me; one male raised his head and roared. I had my leader. I asked them to stand in front of me. When my group was in front, I sent a wave of Qi out to heal them. ¡°Great job; you all did well. Let me reward everyone.¡± I was pleased with the outcome.
Four Earthen Beast cores and five Flame Beast Cores were called up with my monkeys.
Starting with my females, I guided two of each Beast Cores, one for each of my four females. The cores went through the chests of my female monkeys. I wanted two of each version.
Next, I drove three Flame Beast Cores into three of my males and two Earthen Beast Cores into the remaining two males. I am not sure what reaction they would have, but the previous versions had them.
The bodies of my new companions were hovering in the air, roaring into the cavern. I healed them until I got a notification from the System.
Congratulations to the Host for creating two new variants of the rank 1-star Heavenly Blessed Monkey. Please see the status for information.
[Flame Guardian Monkey] and [Earth Guardian Monkey]
Status!
Flame Guardian Monkey
Rank: 1
Qi: Fire
Description: As a evolved variant version of the Heavenly Blessed Monkeys, it has the essential Qi element of Fire. A Male¡¯s fur looks redder with a bit of gold, while the female is the opposite, with more gold than red. However different, they both possess the power to harness the flames. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Skills:
(Males) can cover their bodies and weapons in a fiery aura. They can withstand high temperatures and absorb Fire from the surrounding area.
(Females) they can throw fireballs from the pads of their fingers. They can stand at high temperatures and absorb fire Qi from the surrounding area to regenerate their power.
Earth Guardian Monkey
Rank:1
Qi: Earth
Description: As a newly evolved variant of the Heavenly Blessed Monkeys, it has the essential Qi element of Earth. A Male¡¯s fur tends to look brown with a bit of gold, while the female is the opposite, with more gold than brown. However different, they both possess the power to harness the Earth.
Skills:
(Males) can cover their bodies on a hardened plate of Earth. Once their earthen armor comes off, they release one wave of spikes from their entire body. They can stand high resistance to pain and taunt their enemies.
(Females) they can throw spiked pillars from their tails and summon an earthen wall around them for protection. They can reabsorb their Qi from the surrounding area.
I did a mental dance in my head; it had successfully worked." So, A.V.A, how do I make a boss?"
¡°All you have to do is look at the creature you would like to become a boss and say boss while giving it extra Qi. A boss is a named intelligent creature. It is one rank higher than the floor that it is guarding. Although you can name only your bosses, there is a skill that you can buy in the shop that can allow you to call creatures other than your bosses. If it dies, any named beast of yours keeps their soul and memories until you summon their bodies again.¡±
So essentially, they can grow in their skills because they will have their memories. I was low on my Qi from summoning all the cores. It looked like I would need an abundance of Qi to complete what I had in mind for my boss.
I had my monkeys patrol again while I went back to working on my cross hallway. I decided to make a left-right angle for the same 25 feet. After completing the left intersection of my crossway, I started making another room at the end. I didn¡¯t get much work done in the room when my Qi had completely regenerated.
I pulled back my vision from my hallway. Again, I made up one of each core; my idea this time was to see if I could somehow fuse the two cores.
Using my mind, I pushed the two cores slowly together. I felt a drain in my Qi as a force went against my merging. But, I will not give up! Using more energy, I pushed through the pain to make each Qi blend and stabilized to complete one core.
When I got halfway, I was almost out of my Qi. So I quickly summoned my female monkeys to touch me to help support my dwindling Qi because they can regenerate from the surrounding area.
I felt a wave of fire and earth Qi as it rushed into my core. I pushed harder through the pain, and it seemed like my dungeon was having an earthquake. As the last centimeters met, a burst of energy went through the dungeon. I mentally let go and took deep breaths even though I didn¡¯t need to breathe, which helped bring in more Qi. Dust and gravel were blowing about in a circle. My female monkeys were on the ground, looking at the center of the dust storm.
CALM DOWN AND STOP! I mentally yelled at the raging Earth. Suddenly, all matter flowing stops and freezes in the room; hovering so soundly in the middle of the mess was a Golden Fiery Beast Core. Inside of the Core was a vertex of Earth and flames.
I did not move, for I did not want to disrupt the chaotic situation I had just caused. My first plan was to get my lost Qi slowly back until then; I didn¡¯t enjoy letting the new core out of my sight.
Slowly but surely, I regained my lost Qi. Then I mentally pulled everything down from the air and slowly onto the ground.
It¡¯s alright; now you can move again. I told my monkeys. The female monkeys moved farther away from the core with faces of awe and fear. I would have been one of them, too, if I had legs and a face.
I ¡°ate¡± my rubble mess away, and last but not least, I slowly absorbed my new precious treasure. I would be drooling if I had a mouth; this Beast Core tasted like food from a five-star chef. The Fire had a burning sensation mixed in with the Earth, giving it a hearty meat fulfillment in a steak.
Floor Boss The Heavenly Monkey King
[Ding!] The Host has unlocked the following
Error. No Name for Core; please wait while generating.
I have assigned the Golden Earthen Flame core name to the never created beast core. For creating something new to the System, I have awarded the Host four dungeon points.
Oh, that was generous that the System gave me dungeon points. However, I will assume that it would give dungeon points out by creating something the Systems have yet seen.
If the System database has seen most products and implemented them into itself, that would mean that the System has been in too many worlds to have such a storage collection of items. Is it possible that the system is a Celestial? Something far superior to a Celestial would be frightening.
It is more ancient than the gods. Is it possible it came from the beginning of everything? But I shook my head inside the core. There was no time to be distracted.
Summoning the new beast core I had absorbed, I called the leader of my monkey group in the middle of the room.
Stay still and endure the pain; you will become my first-floor guardian that will protect the dungeon family but protect the treasures and the core. I told him I pushed more of the Qi out of the core till the System warned me that if I was in the red zone.
My pack leader grew until he stopped growing at 8 feet. I felt that from the link connecting us; he was in pain.
I pushed my new core into his chest; his body rose from the ground. The golden fur that coated his body lit up and went on fire.
The flames grew into a raging, flaming, infernal tornado. On the dungeon floor, the pressure around my leader affected the earth. The torn-up ground shook and hovered towards my soon-to-be floor boss.
The rocks moved and encased my boss in an earth-like egg. Then the flames of the tornado were sucked inside, making the Earthen egg look like a dried magma shell.
Noises stopped from all around. It encased my leader and made him released more influential spiritual essence in the surrounding area.
The earth entrapment dried up and flake apart, revealing bright golden light through the small dungeon floor. Then, with a loud bang, my boss showed his new form, and what a glorious sight to behold. Tall and vicious, with golden-covered fur with a mix of red. A golden, delicate metal crown rested on his forehead that held a reddish-golden beast core that pulsed off hidden power. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it.
The System popped into my view, and I giggled; then, I let my manic laugh out. Oh man, it will be fun watching my boss whipping everyone up.
[Ding!] The Host made a changed version of the Heavenly Blessed Monkey. The Host has made this creature a boss. Would you like to use this blueprint? [Yes] or [No]?
Yes, I thought.
Congratulations to the Host for creating a rank 2-star unique creature. The Host can only use this blueprint once for the first-floor boss. Please see the status of the information and naming process.
[Heavenly King Monkey]
I pulled up the status of my new floor boss.
Status!
Heavenly Monkey King
Rank: 2
Qi: Fire, Earth, Air
Description: As a newly evolved version of the Heavenly Blessed Monkey, the boss creature Heavenly Monkey King can boost the stats of all monkeys in a 5-meter area. Due to a unique beast core implemented during its evolution process, the Heavenly King Monkey can harness the forces of Fire and Earth Qi. In addition, the Host¡¯s Air Qi was implemented in the creature¡¯s structure, so this beast has the power of Air Qi.
Skills:
Heavenly Arena: when the boss is in low health, it will summon an arena where enemies cannot escape the stadium and are forced to fight in a death match.
Sky Walk: The boss can summon a cloud and ride on top of it like a godly King riding his mount.
Clones: The boss can summon four clones with a 100% accurate copy, making it hard for the enemies to identify which one is real. All the clones can access all the boss¡¯s skills. The downside is the clones disappear faster the more clones are used. For example, the maximum number of clones will last shorter than just having one clone out.
Summoning weapon: The boss can call a contracted battle weapon from a spatial holding cell. If the boss lost or dropped the weapon during battle, he would be able to summon it back with just a mere thought.
Earth Manipulation: The ability to harness Earth¡¯s element in any way that the boss¡¯s mind could think of, either offense or for defense.
Fire Manipulation: The ability to harness Fire¡¯s element in any way that the boss¡¯s mind could think of, either offense or for defense.
My eyes would have popped out of my skull if I had any; this was too good and would make the perfect first boss. I could only imagine what goodies I could unlock from here and increase my new creature family.
¡°A.V. A, how do I name this boss?¡±
¡°Look at the boss as a whole and not through the System. If you look hard enough, you should see ¡°NO NAME¡± on top of his head. However, if you focus hard, just picture the name you want to name this boss, and it should change the writing."
I did as she told me and focused on my boss¡¯s head; at first, I saw nothing, then eventually, the words ¡°NO NAME¡± faded into view. It looked like red hologram words that you could see straight through to the back of the cave.
I pictured that it would change the words into the name I picked out, Ti¨¡nw¨¢ng. But instead, the letters seemed to modify and spin into a language where it was unreadable. Probably the words were from the ancient language of the System or the creators of all dungeons.
Loot Assigning
I used up the majority of the Qi inside the core when I upgraded my boss. Apparently, the boss cost more than the other base creature because I have to infuse it to grow stronger instead of it evolving on its own. I went back to finishing up the new left room of my crossway that I started before my new monkey evolving project. I plan on keeping this room bare until I have my beast do an expedition to the outside world. After that, I will keep my boss inside for some needed protection.
In the left room of the crossway, I tend to make it into a big fantasy mystical jungle for my monkeys. I wanted this room to be a circular diameter of about 100 feet and about 15 meters tall.
I was halfway done with the room before it fully replenished the Qi. It took about two days from the light outside my entrance. So I took a much-needed pause; now was the time to cross off assigning loot to my creatures.
First, I mentally pulled up the list of all of my summoned creatures.

-Katydid Leg(x2): The legs of a Jeweled Katydid can bring a tiny chance of luck to those that hold on to them.
When all the loot was together, I had more creatures than I had. I need to conjure at least five more Heavenly Blessed Monkeys due to evolving them into my Guardian Monkeys. I summoned six more of my lower-tiered monkeys and had them meet up with the rest of the group.
I am ready for an expedition to the outside. But, first, I would like to know what lies behind my entrance. Being aware of my environment can help me see if there are any towns nearby, start thinking about defense upgrades, and my favorites gathering up items from the world for more blueprints.
Dungeon Shop
I needed to check out the shop before I did anything else. The shop would help me before setting my creatures out.
Shop! I said, and a light golden screen came up. At the top left of the panel, I saw my dungeon points that I already owned. The center of the panel was a list of categories. Each category had a drop-down arrow to expand what items I could see.
At the moment, browsing skills is all I¡¯m doing till something attracts my attention. Opening the tab for skills, I thought that if I picked out a superb skill, it would always help and be active.
There was a teleportation skill that had a cooldown of 30 days. So, I could teleport the dungeon to an unfamiliar area for one day; When the day was over, I would return to my original site. It was nice, but I wasn¡¯t rushing to explore another area when I didn¡¯t know what was happening outside. I don''t need this skill right now so I''ll get another one.
There was another skill called The Arena of Evolution. By summoning a permanent arena where my creatures could battle each other, they would have a higher chance of getting new skills and evolving. This skill cost 20 dungeon points, but it was nice to know one was here.
I¡¯d have to put it on hold. I love the evolutions of my creatures, but I don¡¯t have an extensive selection of beasts to spend my dungeon points on this. It may be slow, but if my creatures can train in the rooms, perhaps they can unlock of more evolutions, but not as needed.
I may get all the skills I need in the future. All of them were excellent. On the downside, they weren¡¯t giving me a lightbulb moment. For now, I would have to leave them alone can keep searching.
I have to save enough points for that extra skill to name my other beasts that A.V.A mentioned. That skill would be the second skill I would get unless something changed.
I kept scrolling, and skill caught my eyes. It was a passive skill called memory absorption, where if a living, intelligent creature came inside the dungeon and died, I could have its memory. I liked this skill because I could pass on memories to my bosses or named creatures, and they could improve in skills.
The price was my total of 16 points. I have a plan that will help me with most of my problems. I said buy and saw that my point balance went down to 0.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
[Ding!] The Host has bought a new skill from the Dungeon Shop. In addition, the Host¡¯s skill list has been updated.
¡°Can the creatures survive outside the dungeon?¡± I questioned.
¡°Although the beasts won¡¯t disintegrate as soon as they leave the dungeon, they won¡¯t last more than a day. This is because if a dungeon-born creature walks out, they need to survive on our ambient Qi, which means they would need to come back; also, if our creatures go outside and they happen to die, the Qi that we had invested would not come back to us.¡± A.V.A expressed.
Hmmm, so they should be okay for a couple of minutes. After that, I could gradually find out the maximum time they could stay outside by sacrificing my weaker creatures like my Katydids.
I need to ensure everything is in order before more enemies come, and I suspect they will come soon. There was no way that the ambient Qi escaping would not go unnoticed by more intelligent beings that could feel the changes in the influx of pure Qi. Time to move the core to a unique room.
I picture a place for the core to go in the new that I was still working on; I would call it the left-wing of the crossway. So now my body¡¯s core disappeared from the second room that was done and appeared where I wanted it to be in the unused space, which was at the center of the room again.
I mentally called up all my creatures for a meeting in my new core room. Ti¨¡nw¨¢ng was in front of all the group when they arrived. So I opened up my connection with everyone.
Some of you will go out of our home. Your mission is to look around and bring back any materials and creatures that I don¡¯t have. Then you all are to go into groups and escape back here. If you encounter any fight, you Cannot win if you think your group can win, capture the being involved, alive or dead, and bring it back. Do not stay out for more than 10 minutes.
I got them into groups, and they would be taking turns rotating on exploring the new world that we arrived at. I still want to set up a perimeter for defense, just in case.
Each group will have one of each creature, making about five groups in all, with a few extras that will only be staying as permanent defenders like Ti¨¡nw¨¢ng. The leader of each group will be one of my Guardian Monkeys. Due to them having a beast core, they would have the intelligence to come back, unlike my other creations.
My goal will be first to finish up this room, the crossway, and the other three rooms connected. Then, I would be adding more traps periodically as I get more blueprints unlocked in the next step.
Finally, I would like to decorate the first floor more before moving onto the second floor. I have an idea for my theme, but I want to see my creatures¡¯ options get me first.
While one group is out, I would have my creatures battle each other to gain more fighting experiences and find a battle path suitable for each one.
Exploration
I called out one Katydid first to check. I instructed it to look around and get some information.
As it jumped out of the cavern, I felt a piece of myself was blocked off. I knew what was going to happen. It felt unnatural, but I will push through it for the more significant outcome.
Time was very inconsistent; I had nothing to read besides the sun. I was relieved when the katydid returned. There was no harm as I washed its body with Qi.
I called up another katydid this time. I wanted it to do the same thing, but it should stay out for three minutes.
I felt a sense of loss in the connection between us. I wondered if I could see the outside with my creature¡¯s eyes.
Although the connection between us was a small string, I pushed my vision through it like going through a tunnel, and I could still make it to its body. The view was taller because of my insect being more elevated than the core.
It appeared that we were on a cliff. That was why I was having issues attracting more giant creatures. In theory, if you have grass, water, and insects, I should produce an ecosystem.
I could see a significant body of water on my left side. The mountains and forest are to the front of my creature. Finally, there was a valley below. The cliff was to my right. The outer wall of the ridge had small handholds. The Demonic Monkey got to the dungeon through that route.
My Katydid went back inside to wait for orders. I pulled back my connection to it. I needed to think about what I will do next. My monkeys could use the same handholds to climb their way out of the cliff. If they want to bring creatures and materials back, they would need to carry the materials in the free up their hands.
An idea came to me. I had one of my Celestial Moths produce some silk. So next, I called Ti¨¡nw¨¢ng. I had to use him because he was the most intelligent creature I could communicate with. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
I gave him a description of a silk sack, and I asked him if he could try to make one similar to it. It took three tries to get it. I absorbed it to make duplicates for all of my monkeys going out.
[Ding!] The Host has absorbed a poor-quality Silk Sack and can now use it as a blueprint.
I equipped the first group with enough sacks. Please be careful and return in only fifteen minutes. I gave the group a last bit of reminder.
Looking at my Celestial moths, I told them to put creatures to sleep with their skills if possible.
The leader of this group was a female Earth Guardian Monkey. I chose her because I wanted her to be on guard if something happened.
Wished this group excellent hunting as they walked through the entryway. I felt significant loss due to multiple creatures leaving, but I suppressed the feeling and turned to the large group that stayed.
I told them the rules for the training. In the first round, everyone will fight, going all out, but not killing. After that, I will heal as the fighting continues. I want everyone to get the feel of constantly trying the best possible. Then the next round will be in groups by species, as each will have a unique training program.
Begin!
As my creatures started to fight, I finished up this room ¡°eating away¡± for more area was the most tenuous thing to do. Maybe I should make a digger creature so that it could dig out places where I could just absorb the rubble and then expand my area of influence.
I healed mostly my insect creatures far more than my monkeys. I hope that this will help them get used to their strength. Then, all of my creatures can learn how to work together.
I had a feeling that my bugs would have a higher chance of a slight evolutionary path. So the cycle continued; I healed and built rooms until I felt the lost connection snap back to me.
Turning my vision into the entranceway, I told my creatures fighting to stop. I did one final heal just as a precaution in case.
As the first exploring team came to a stop. I noticed that the group had all their silk bags full by scanning them. I was excited to find out what new things I would unlock.
I did notice that a silk bag was wiggling around. I had all my creatures gathered around to witness the treasures of the outside world.
I am not expecting too much of anything due to the positioning limitations where we were located. However, any new thing is accepted. The bag that was moving would be last; I wouldn¡¯t want whatever was in it to run even though it probably won¡¯t make it out alive.
They emptied the first bag onto the floor. I quickly absorbed everything and let the System give me the details.
