《Introduction of Magic》


 Chapter 1

    At the first stage it created itself.


    At the second stage it brought water to cool itself.


    At the third stage it brought land to warm itself.


    At the fourth stage it made life to amuse itself.


    At the fifth stage Planet ¡°Janus¡± brought magic and chose a protector from the life it made.


    The Life it made was not able to sustain the initial mana and will die, so it chose many protectors to distribute it¡¯s mana.


    Adrian woke up feeling every vein of his body burn as if his blood screamed, with every breath his lungs swell and his pain reached new highs with just the slight brush the air made inside his body, until he couldn¡¯t bear with it anymore and fainted, this happened a few times and each time he screamed, he was scared of waking up only to realize that last time didn¡¯t hurt as badly as this time.


    The word Sole protector appeared in his mind and that was when his body felt a new type of energy being forcefully inserted, but it was something foreing and unknown, his body rejected it, his veins began to show on his body, his heart rate rose, he got feverish, his body did everything it could to attack this energy, for it was too much for him, then he saw the word ¡°Sole¡± disappear and the energy calmed down a little and Adrian lost consciousness again.

    Across the world many protectors appeared from the life it created, but as the world has yet to develop it¡¯s self awareness it couldn¡¯t tell the protectors what they had to protect, the world only acted through instinct, but as it learned from the first experience, this time he gave it¡¯s mana to it¡¯s protectors slowly.


    Adrian opened his eyes and saw the green lamp, his eyes hurt so he averted his gaze and saw on the wall a framed photo of himself and his best friends Luca and Milly before their graduation ceremony, he looked to the left and saw the light brown door open with his mother standing there.


    Mina is Adrian¡¯s mother, she is a strong willed woman in her forties with calluses in her brown skinned hands, Mina was the six child of the family and the day her mother sold one of her sisters, she left her house, she was a teenager and got on the first train she could and started a new life, she tried to seize every opportunity she saw and with many years of effort she bought her small house where she an Adrian live, Mina vowed to herself to never let Adrian live that, so when his father said he never wanted to have a family, she let him be out of the picture before he could do any damage to Adrian. The same Mina was looking at her son who just the day before started to scream loudly while watching Tv and passed out. She nursed him and tried to call an ambulance only to find the line was broken, she was so scared, every time Adrian opened his eyes they were red and he would scream his lungs out, he couldn¡¯t even make words, just noises, so when her son opened his eyes without making any sound, and his eyes went back to their natural green color, she felt so relieved that she allowed herself to cry.


    That day Adrian stayed in bed, he was too weak to stay up for long, he his voice was hoarse, his body ached and he only got up to go to the bathroom, his mother told him each time to not lock up the door, just in case he had another ¡°episode¡±, he somehow managed to convince his mother that all he needed was some rest or maybe she let him stay at home because he was too weak to leave the house, and the phone wasn¡¯t working so they couldn¡¯t even call an ambulance, regardless, he felt like a patient and neither the Tv nor his cellphone were even working, but he was alive, that was all that mattered and the fact that his mother didn¡¯t see him die.

 Chapter 2

    The next day Adrian¡¯s body still hurt but he was able to move around the house on his own, his hands still trembled a little so he didn¡¯t help much with the chores of the house, he did try to keep her mother company while she did them, though it was mostly because she stopped whatever she was doing every few minutes to check on him.


    Mina: Adrian remember we¡¯ll go to the hospital in a bit, so don¡¯t forget your ID and you might be hospitalized so grab some clothes and your toothbrush.


    Adrian: Mom don¡¯t worry i got all i need on my bag¡¯ and if i forget something that¡¯s cuz i prob¡¯ won¡¯t need it.


    Mina was watching the news on the Tv and the anchor said that it still wasn¡¯t clear the reason for the malfunction of the electronic devices two days before, the strangest thing is that it happened in different cities almost at the same time, but that people shouldn¡¯t worry since everything seemed to be working just fine now. In other news there is a monkey that slipped past security at the airport and got into a plane, the flight attendant took a selfie with the monkey at the back while the monkey was stealing a bottle of water, the monkey has been identified as a ¡°Trachypithecus obscurus¡±, how the monkey got there is still a mystery.


    When we arrived at the hospital my mother tried to explain to the best of her abilities what had happened to the hospital receptionist, who asked us to fill a form and to wait. My mother was furious and now she was the one screaming and making unintelligible noises, but somehow it worked a doctor heard her screams and came to see what was happening, he lead us to a room and took some blood, then X rays, asked if i did drugs, last sexual partner and some other question that didn¡¯t seem to be related and after 40 minutes of my private life being exposed to my mom, we were out already on our way home, the doc said i didn¡¯t need to be hospitalized, just to take things slow and to come back if i got another episode, before we left he gave my mom the number of a psychiatrist, just in case.Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent.     At home we had dinner, played some card games together and then each to their own, i went to my room, got in my bed and then from my lower back i felt something familiar and it gave me the chills, my body started to tremble and i felt it, the same energy that made my first bone fracture seems like a sunny day at the park, as i was feeling it I got panic-stricken, my mind run a number of scenarios when in each the best thing that happened was that it was all a dream or that i died before the pain started, but after who know how long as i was in a pool of my own sweat, I realized that nothing happened I checked my phone it showed 4:32 AM, I unlocked it and called Gabriel.


    Gabriel is my neighbor and one of my closest friends, he is the type of friend who is always there like a guardian, maybe it¡¯s because he is the oldest of the kids in the block, maybe because he was always the tallest and strongest of the group or maybe because he is an older brother, but whenever someone needed someone to talk with or had a shitty day he always listened, so when my panic attack was over I instinctively or by impulse called him.


    Gabriel woke up in the middle of the night with his phone ringing, he was about to turn it off until he saw that it was a call from Adrian, earlier he heard his mother saying something about Adrian going to the hospital and he thought that maybe it was important, his brother was still sleeping in the next bed so he left the room after grabbing a pack of cigars and started to walk down the stairs while picking up, he had just managed to leave the house with a cigarette half lit when he noticed Adrian was panting, probably crying too, Gabrield tried to calm Adrian down over the phone while walking towards Adrian house, he had pass over two houses before reaching Adrian¡¯s, He had yet to said a word so Gabriel tried to think about what to say when he remembered that Adrian was always the happiest when Jack, his bully, had a shitty day. Adrian I saw Jack today, I think he was on his way home, anyway he was walking when suddenly a scared cat jumped on him scratching his face, it was such a rewarding sight, but then i saw from what the cat was running and you won¡¯t believe me, there was a fucking monkey throwing shit to the cat and Jack got Hit right on the head, he was piss, he went after the monkeythat¡¯s when I lost sight of him, I laughed so hard I wish I could have recorded it, maybe some street camera got that or at least I hope so.


    Adrian¡¯s panting stopped while Gabriel was talking but he still didn¡¯t say a word, he couldn¡¯t just yet, suddenly there was a knock on the window and there he was, the neighborhood guardian.

 Chapter 3

    Gabriel was outside my window, which was still closed, but mostly because I was stunned I had a mixture of emotions that I had never felt before ?A sense of comradeship perhaps? All I needed was someone to talk to or to be more precise to hear the voice of someone I trust and hopefully forget about this shitty experience I¡¯ve been going through, I didn¡¯t asked him to come, shit I haven¡¯t said anything over the phone, but he somehow knew I needed a friend and walked here in the middle of the night after a single call ?who does that? Gabriel does I guess, it felt nice to know I can rely on him, and just like that my frustration and my sense of helplessness vanished and a soothing feeling arrived, my tears stopped while I realized this and I opened the window.


    Gabriel came into my room, closed the window, sat on my bed and didn¡¯t say anything. I think he was waiting for me to talk first, and I tried, but wasn¡¯t sure how to begin yet, so I just said the first thing that came to my mind and asked him about his brother.


    Adrian: How¡¯s Thomas doing?


    Gabriel: He¡¯s fine, he''s probably still sleeping.


    Not sure why I asked him about his brother in this circumstance, it feels awkward anyway, so I guess it doesn¡¯t matter.


    Adrian: sorry for calling you at this hour I just didn¡¯t know who else to call


    Gabriel: Don¡¯t worry man.


    Adrian: The other day I had what my mother called an ¡°episode¡±, but it wasn¡¯t a disease nor anything like that, I felt something invisible enter my body, like electricity but more liquid, can¡¯t really explain it in words, but it hurt so bad, I fainted a few times and wished to not wake up anymore as a token of mercy for myself and earlier tonight I felt the same energy tingling in my body so I panicked.


    Gabriel didn¡¯t talk, just listened. I''m not sure if he believed me but if he didn¡¯t, he still listened.


    Gabriel: My mom said you went to the doctor today ?What did he say?


    How did she know? Did my mother tell her? Why and when?


    Adrian: He did a few tests, asked me a bunch of questions and said to go back if anything happened, but I¡¯m not sure if I want to go back.


    Gabriel: m¡­ ?what were you doing before you felt it?


    Adrian: The first time I don¡¯t remember, actually I don¡¯t remember much of that day, but the second I had a good day, went to sleep and suddenly felt it from the lower of my back.


    Gabriel: Mind if I take a look? I¡¯ve heard electricity leaves scars, maybe this thing left a mark too


    Adrian: I think the doc would have told me, but sure I don¡¯t mind.


    Gabriel stood up and came closer to me so I lifted my shirt and he took a look at my back. He was just staring so I asked ¡°?do I have something on my back?¡± He said ¡°nothing¡± and then he put his hand on my lower back and it hurt a little.


    Gabriel: I felt something there. Did you feel anything?


    Adrian: Just some pain, but it¡¯s bearable.


    Gabriel was looking at his hand with a weird look on his face, he is probably trying to make a guess of what it was, but I don¡¯t think that¡¯s going to work.


    Adrian: Do you believe me?


    Gabriel: I have no reason to not believe you

    We talked some more, he told me about Jack again, but this time he said he met him while leaving from an interview that his mother got him in a shop of an old friend of hers and I fell asleep at some point, when I woke up he wasn¡¯t around. The weird thing is I knew he wasn¡¯t around before I opened my eyes.


    I feel a lot better now. I should probably thank Gabriel when I get the chance, maybe buy him a snack or play with Thomas, yeah let¡¯s do both. I was getting out of my room when I heard my mother from her room asking if Gabriel was having breakfast with us, guess she heard us talking last night, my answer was that it was good to know my room isn¡¯t a private place before I get myself a girlfriend, she just laughed, it¡¯s been a few days since I heard that contagious laugh, didn¡¯t know i needed that, maybe I should stay at home today and see if i can hear more of that, we could order some food and watch a movie, but first, breakfast while watching the news, my mom handed me some toast with scrambled eggs while I sat on the couch and on the news the anchor was talking about a fire on the west side of the city, that a perimeter around the building had already been put in place and that people should avoid the place so firemen can do their jobs and there were several ambulances outside waiting, the building that caught fire is a butcher shop, that been in business for 15 years, the firemen think that a refrigerator short-circuited making the initial fire. We finished breakfast and my mom said she has to go back to work from today, she works at a nursing home that¡¯s like 30 minutes by bus from our house, before she left she asked me many times if I was going to be okay and made me swear that I would call her if anything happens, she also said she was going to call every two hours and would come right away if I didn¡¯t answer the phone, looks like we won''t be ordering food.


    It¡¯s been a few days since I went out and now that I think about I haven¡¯t talk with Luca nor Milly these days, well it¡¯s been pretty hectic anyway and I¡¯ve been hanging out with my mom while she was absent from work, we have a chat for the three so I grabbed my phone and texted them, ¡°Hey, I¡¯m free today and need some kind of distraction anyone want to go out?¡± I grabbed my byke and got out, rode for a few blocks when I heard a beeping kind of sound from my phone, so I stopped and checked, it was Milly she texted back saying she was going with her parents to check some universities today, but that she would be free at night and maybe we could all hang out at her place, with everything that¡¯s happened I kind of forgot we just graduated last month, so I sent a thumb up emoji in our chat and then texted my mom saying I was ok, so she didn¡¯t need to call me, then i grabbed my bike and kept riding, some more time passed and I noticed I was pretty far from my house and I wasn¡¯t even tired, usually whenever I ride for more than a hour I take a little break to catch my breath and check my phone, but today I felt like I could go hours without stopping, then my phone made the beeping sound so I stopped and checked, this time it was Luca saying he was free, but if we were going to Milly¡¯s later then he rather we met there, then he asked me privately if I was ok saying we could meet if I needed, but I was pretty happy now so I texted it was ok and not to worry, I was now pretty close to that fire on the news so I turned around and started to ride back home, but then something made me change my minds, an invisible force pushed towards the fire and my body corresponded and started to go faster, I must be out of my damn mind it¡¯s like it¡¯s calling me and I¡¯m the fool who¡¯s actually going.


    When I arrived there was a perimeter but it didn¡¯t seem to be anyone around, the ambulances were there like the anchor from the news said, but they were empty so I got past them and now I was standing right in front of a portable fence with a ¡°no trespassing sign¡± and past those I could see the butcher shop, but there wasn¡¯t any smoke around and the shop wasn¡¯t on fire either. Why would they set a perimeter and evacuate the area? if this was some kind of fire drill it wouldn¡¯t have appeared on the news, now I was in front of the shop I grabbed the handle of the door and as soon as I grabbed it, the invisible force pushed me, but this time it managed to throw me really hard and while I was been thrown I heard screams, when I hit the ground I clearly heard someone yelling. A kid got in! someone grab him and get him out of there! It¡¯s too late, they saw him! Then I heard gunshots and finally saw who yelled, he was in a military uniform and was running towards me when a green creature jumped out of nowhere and stabbed him in the neck then the creature got shot on the head, but it wasn¡¯t just one there were tens of them and the creatures were in between the military men and me, so I run crouching a little with my hands on top of my head while gunshot went around, while running I felt something hitting on my back, but it didn¡¯t stop me from running so I kept at it until I hid on the back of the building inside a big dumpster, I checked my back and I wasn¡¯t bleeding nor did it hurt, I grabbed my phone and used the light to see around, there was some decomposed meat in bags, glasses and below them there was an old rusty knife which I hurriedly grabbed and kept close to my chest, while breathing rapidly. I spent some time in the dumpster until the gunshot ceased, finally they must have killed those things.


    I slowly opened the lid and looked around I was alone, I got out of the dumpster and walked toward the front of the building slowly, when I was close to the corner one of those things appeared and run in my direction, this one was unarmed, it jumped on top of me and threw me to the floor, it hands had long nails like little claws, they hurt, it tried to pierce my head, but I used my left arm to block and it got stuck, then i used all my strength to strike him with the knife on my right hand, the rusty knife pierced it¡¯s skin easily, it¡¯s skin was soft and there wasn¡¯t much muscle behind it, but it had bones, i hit his ribs, it tried to back away, but his claw was still on my left arm, so I pushed my arm and managed to get on top of him and pressed the knife even more, it was about to scream when something inside of him crushed and it stopped moving, I kept stabbing while blood splashed on me, I was covered in blood and some had even entered my mouth but I was unaware of this yet, then from the corpse some of the same type of energy that¡¯s been haunting me flew to my body and I runned back to the dumpster in fear of getting unconscious out there with those green things going around.

 Chapter 4

    Luca and I have been friend since kinder garden, one day a kid fell from his seat while throwing a tantrum and we both laughed, we¡¯ve been hanging together ever since, we went to the same school and we even liked the same girl once and even though one year we didn¡¯t see each other much at school and made new friends, we were still best friends and that¡¯s the year I met Milly, she was a cute girl who had just arrive to school at sector 19 and pretty much everyone noticed she came from a better sector, because her skin glowed, so yeah all the boys in our school liked her for her looks, but in one of the breaks on her first day one of the guys from one year above us tried ask her out and Milly beat the crap out of him and run away to one of the empty classroom, which is where I was hiding from Jack who had a really bad mood that day and wanted to take it out on me, but I knew he was never going to look in the chemistry lab, he was more of a sport guy and the only science he was good at was biology. Anyway that¡¯s how I met Milly and then I introduced Luca to her, Luca¡¯s new friends weren¡¯t happy with him being friends with me, so he ditched them when they demanded him to never see me again, weird kids, but due to that Milly made us promise her that we wouldn¡¯t judge, betray nor being late, there¡¯s probably a story there but we never asked hoping she would tell us if she wanted to I guess she is either over it or she still doesn¡¯t want to talk about it, but that¡¯s ok.


    back to my current situation, if I make out of here alive Milly is going to kill me for being late, it¡¯s already night time i¡¯ve scouted a bit from the corner of the alley and I haven¡¯t seen nor heard any other person, sometimes the green ones come close enough for me too see them but they are always in groups so i¡¯ve kept myself in this alley, once it begun to get cold and my stomach was making sounds due to hunger I decided to leave the alley, hoping those things would be asleep.


    I got close to the corner and looked around, there wasn¡¯t a single one, there were two cars with bullet holes on the other side of the street so I went there crouching hoping they would cover me while giving me the chance to look around a little more, I had the rusty knife in my hand and apparently I grabbed the knife so hard that my hand bled a little, once behind the cars I looked to the place where the military were before saw a pool of blood, but no bodies, ¡°good they must have made it¡±, then I looked over the building, that¡¯s weird I¡¯m pretty sure I came through that store, how come I¡¯m outside? I didn¡¯t notice before with all the gunshots and the surprise of my life being threatened. Maybe if I make it there I''ll be able to leave this place, but first I''ll have to get past those things. There''s a bunch around but all of them are wounded and bleeding.

    I went back to the alley to grab some things from the dumpster, some trash to throw and make some noise, broken glass and some bags to cover them, the body of the green one I killed it¡¯s still there, at the entrance of the alley I spread the broken glass and ripped the bag and cover it, then I run over to the back of the cars and threw some cans near the alley hoping that the green ones would run over there see the corpse and spend some time there looking for the killer, so I could run to the entrance of the store and in my mind, still in shock, this was a great plan.


    I threw the first stone in between the alley and the green ones, some noticed the sound and looked to see if there was anything, then I threw the second to the alley and one of them went to look, only one, this one made a noise and screamed then it looked around the floor and run to my direction, how did this fucker knew where I was? Then I noticed it¡¯s not that it knew where I was, but it was following the blood on the floor, my blood.


    Where I¡¯m at I can see from afar the big group of green ones to my right and to my left I can see the alley and there is a wall behind me, if I stay here all of them will notice I¡¯m here and i¡¯ll be done for, the group to my right can¡¯t see the green one that¡¯s coming to me, and I¡¯m not in a lighted area, so the can¡¯t see me yet.


    I decided to go for it so I started to run to the green one that¡¯s coming to stab him and then run in the opposite direction of the group, but he dodged my stab and even scratched my arm, I kept running to avoid the group and the green one chase me, he was faster than me and jumped to attack me, it threw to the ground and I kicked him in the balls if he has any, then grabbed the knife tightly and slashed in his direction while standing up, he carefully started to circle around me looking for an opportunity while I kept slashing randomly in the air every now and then, looking for a way to run away, but that¡¯s when he screamed and I panicked ¡°Is he calling for help?¡± while he screamed I jumped onto him and stabbed him with the full force on my body, he managed to stab me back on my other arm with his claws, i grabbed the knife and look in the direction where the group was and saw two more running towards me


    I was hurt in both arms, one I couldn¡¯t move anymore, I was bleeding  and didn¡¯t really have the time to stop the bleeding, I had nowhere to run and while I realized this, this time I saw a blueish light coming out from the body of the green one and flying straight to me, this is the energy, why is it coming out of those and why do I have that too? I didn¡¯t have the time to panic this time but i wasn¡¯t in a sane state of mind either, when the two green ones were getting close I jumped on top a bench from the bus stop and jumped on top of one of them, using the knife to stab him in the head, then jumped on the second and smash his head against the floor, it was a matter of second but I felt stronger and faster, this time I didn¡¯t get hit and I was the one who attacked first, from both of them the same blueish energy came out and went into me, I hid inside of one of the cars and wrapped my shirt on my bleeding arm and I heard gunshots again, the military men were back.

 Chapter 5

    Mom told me when I was little that our country ¡°Razvita¡± used to be separated in five, though the actual names have been forgotten, they are currently named after a unique characteristic of the area the belonged, these are the Mountain Kingdom to the North East, Forest Kingdom to the North West, Sea Kingdom to the South West and the Land Kingdom to the South East and the fifth was the Shadow Kingdom, they had no land and many claim they didn¡¯t exist, but many assasination of people with a good household of the time were said to be committed by them and the most important thing is the first Queen of Razvita left a warning to her heirs, to never mess with the Kingdom of Shadows.


    The four kingdoms used to be at war to get each other resources, until Land and Mountain made an alliance, Mountain wanted salt and Land needed lumber and by joining together they could plunder their ally neighbor, this made the war complicated to Forest and Sea and led them to join together in order to survive.


    Eventually with time, each alliance melted and the west and east kingdom were formed and war continued for many years, both kingdom were tired and made a new alliance sealed with the heirs marriage so peace could arrive to the kingdom and it did¡­ until the Queen got pregnant and a new fight began to see whose last name would the yet to be born child have, they didn¡¯t wage war, but they interfered with each other business, made fake rumors and even went looking for the bastards of their contenders, just to look more appealing to the current King and Queen and force them to use the last name they desired.


    The King and Queen endured the childish fight thinking it would be solved once the child was born, but the morning the Queen went into labor one of the nurses was caught trying to swap the child with another one from one of the former Kings but they didn¡¯t know which one made the order,  the Queen infuriated made a party to gather all the nobles and former Kings, the attendance was mandatory for it was the day her son would be shown to the nation or that was what the invitation said, but when everyone arrived the Queen ordered the guards to block the castle exits and to make a fire so bright that even the sun would be envious of such brightness, the current King didn¡¯t know of the Queen¡¯s plan and was inside of the castle.     The redhead Queen discarded her family name and gave her son the name of Naveen Razvita, she made sure that the names of the old families were forgotten including her own name, forbade people to have a last name that wasn¡¯t given by the King or Queen and she told his son while he grew that his father shined so bright that he became a star and watched him from the skies.


    When Naveen became an adult he inherited the crown and the former Queen was assassinated on the same day, on her diary on the first and only page there was a message for her son, ¡°The shadows have given me time to see you grow, don¡¯t ever retaliate or it would have been for naught¡±.


    Naveen Razvita was a great king and he made a new governing system, he and his family lineage would remain the monarchs by choosing an heir from his children, but each king would choose a representative from the candidates the citizens choose, to rule each of the four areas of the country, Mountain, Forest, Sea and Land.


    Nowadays the royal family still rules over the country and chooses a representative to be president for ten years for each of the four areas, the only things the presidents can¡¯t interfere is in the city of the Royals, other presidents'' areas and with death, but the King can always interfere and to do so the Royals have the strongest and cruelest military with a red uniform in the memory of the unnamed Queen of Razvita.


    Rumors say that if you see a red uniform, you will never be seen again and right now i¡¯m running toward them hoping for it to be just a rumor.

 Chapter 6

    The red uniforms saw me coming and two soldiers with rifles and a big knife on their waist run past me, I heard gunshots behind me while I run at full speed panting, then three more soldiers run past me and more gunshots were heard, then five and finally eight more, I arrived at an improvised base where there were 2 soldiers one with a red uniform and the other with a green one they were talking, then someone dress as a doctor yelled and signaled me to get over there, he led me to an ambulance and made me get on the gurney, he gave me a mask with oxygen and a shot while I was focused on the mask.


    Soldiers PoV


    I Ewald, a 3rd tier of the royal army, I¡¯m taking charge of the current operation. How many active officers are on ground?


    Once we received a report of an anomaly we came with 15 police officers, of the 15, 3 died on arrival from a surprise attack and we have 4 injured unable to act.


    So we have 8 officers, 20 soldiers and 2 doctors, what are we dealing with?


    The officer calls them goblins, they are green creatures the size of a 10 years old child, most of them attack with their claws, but they take whatever weapon they can get. We saw them take the baton of my deceased officers, but they ignored the handguns.

    We killed around 30 of them at the beginning, but since they didn¡¯t seem to decrease in number and we had some injuries we retreated while killing the ones that approached.     The fucker run freely this time from my lower back to my neck this thing is trying to get to my head, the sheer level of pain got myself to convulse to the ground scaring the shit out of me and also Luca and Milly, both Saw me fell and reacted almost inmediately reaching their hands to me, but as soon as they touched me the energy reacted leaving my body violently surroinding me in a sphere, like a blue Cage, Milly retracted her Hand as a reflex, but Luca didnt and some of the energy got inside of him, the second it did, the pain got bearable and I was able to move again, I felt relieved even when in front of me Luca was now the one convulsing and screaming from the pain, I wasnt alone anymore and that gave me comfort.
