《Deviants》


 Prologue

    In the year 2020, a vicious virus ravished the world. This virus became known as the Beast Plague. The Beast Plague started infecting all animals on the planet. It made animals turn on each other and start attacking each other for no apparent reason. Soon 80% of the wildlife population was gone. News outlets stated this was the end of the world''s ecosystem as we knew it.


    As animals destroyed their usual food sources, they turned to attack humans. A state of emergency was declared across Planet Earth and humans waged war with the remaining animals on the planet. Within 5 years of the first outbreak among animals, 100% of the wildlife population was gone. Humans adjusted to life without animals, but many who''d been bitten during the war started to notice a change in their personality.


    These humans bitten by the infected animals started to display aggressive behavior towards others. Moreover, they noticed that they had magical powers thanks to magical animals called Familiars. Familiars gave average humans the ability to control different magical elements and these magical humans became known as Deviants. This divide among the world¡¯s population created a war that was known as the War for Humanity.


    The War for Humanity wiped away 50% of the Earth¡¯s population and was headed to destroy the whole world, until eight individuals appeared with extraordinary magical power and allied with the non-magical humans to overpower the Deviants. These eight individuals became known as The Council. As payment for The Council¡¯s help, the leaders of the world gave seven out of the eight Council members control of each continent. The remaining Council member without a continent, the leader of the Council known as Lucifer, became known as King of Earth.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.


    The Council renamed each continent:

    <li style="font-weight: 400">Australia became The Heart Nation</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">Asia became The Spade Nation</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">Europe became The Diamond Kingdom</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">North America became The Wasted Land</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">South America became The Republic of the Eye.</li>


    </ul>


    As part of Lucifer¡¯s deal to protect humanity from the Deviants, he implemented three new laws for the planet:

    <li style="font-weight: 400">Law 1: All Deviants must be captured and put into internment camps.</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">Law 2: The five strongest Deviants in each of the internment camps must participate in an annual televised fight called ¡°The Hunt¡± where they will fight among each other till only three Deviants remain.</li>


    <li style="font-weight: 400">Law 3: The three winners of ¡°The Hunt¡± had to join The Council¡¯s Deviant Hunter army and fight for The Council to capture Deviants and put them into internment camps.</li>


    </ul>


    These laws helped wipe out the majority of the Deviant population and granted humanity survival. Furthermore, this caused the Deviants left on Earth to go into hiding and those with Familiar powers to hide their powers from others. The Hunt went on for more than 200 years until 2225 when a simple spark caused a flame of rebellion.

 Chapter 1: The Dream

    "All I remember is a lullaby. I don''t know who was singing this lullaby, but I know the woman had long blue hair and a gentle and calming voice. I saw tears falling like raindrops from her eyes, but I don''t know why she was crying. What I remember the most is her smiling through her tears and singing the lullaby."


    At that moment, a compassionate voice said, "How about you tell me this lullaby?"


    "Ok, it will be a short story, but I will start with what I remember from the dream. In this dream, the lovely lady was holding a child. Her presence was warm and comforting. The child looked about two years old. I''m guessing the child was me because I was looking up at her, yet my vision was blurry. I was coddled in her arms as the tears from her face trickled down to mine. Then in a soft voice, she whispered¡­"


    ¡°My little Prince, I love you so much! No matter what happens, I want you to know that I love you and you are destined for greatness. I am sorry I will not physically be with you on this journey, but I will always be near you. I will be in your dreams and always walking beside you.¡±


    At that moment, I heard a bang! The beautiful woman said, ¡°My Prince, it is time for us to depart from each other.¡± As she said those words, I cried and she said in a gentle voice, ¡°My Prince, you must be silent or they will find you!¡± For some reason, I could not stop crying. I believe deep down inside, I knew this was the last time I would see her. The banging grew louder and louder. As it intensified, so did my cries.     I looked up at the lady¡¯s worried face as the tears continued to fall from her face to mine. At the moment she whispered, ¡°My Prince, I will protect you and ensure our legacy lives on. Voco super pectus magicae!¡± As she spoke those words that I did not understand, a blue and gold chest appeared. She stood up with me coddled in her arms and gave me a kiss. For the last time, she said ¡°I love you my Prince! Don¡¯t forget me. and My one mission for you is to find your sisters!¡±


    She laid me in the chest and closed it slowly. The chest was dark and cold. I heard the banging sound getting louder and I became very scared. I started crying just as loud as the banging sound. Then I heard the lovely lady say, ¡°My Prince, do not be scared. I will sing your favorite lullaby.¡± Just then, I heard the most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life. The song went like this¡­


    ¡°Just close your eyes. The sun is going down. You¡¯ll be alright. No one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I will be safe and sound¡­¡±


    Then I heard a loud bang and everything was silent. Absolutely silent. At that moment, I knew I was alone and the dream was over. I never got out of the blue and gold chest and I don¡¯t know what happened to the lovely, gentle lady with blue hair who sang the most beautiful lullaby I had ever heard.

 Chapter 2: Call Me Bo

    ¡°Aww, that was such a touching story? I bet the audience agrees, that story almost brought a tear to my eyes.¡±


    *Audience claps in agreement*


    ¡°Now I remember when I was a contestant in The Hunt. I was nervous but excited! One thing I know is that the whole world wants to know how you ended up here! So can you tell me, out of all the Deviants in The Wastelands, how did you Bo end up as a finalist in this year''s Hunt?¡±


    ¡°Well, it all started about a year ago when I woke up in the middle of Central Park and met a girl named Nia.¡±


    Date: March 15, 2224


    Where am I? Where is mom? Where is Shaunda? Where is Kizzie? What is this white stuff on me? Why am I cold?


    Then, I heard a voice in the distance say; ¡°Hey, sir it¡¯s not safe for you to be laying in the middle of the park during a snowstorm?¡±

    ¡°Are you drunk sir? Let me help you up!¡±


    At that moment, a woman with long black hair reached her hand out to help me up. However, after she got a good look at me, she jumped back and screamed; ¡°Someone call the Deviant Hunters! It¡¯s a Deviant! He¡¯s trying to attack me!¡±


    Confused, I asked her, ¡°What is a Deviant?¡±


    She did not answer me back. She just kept staring at me horrified pointing at my black horns. Once again she screamed; ¡°Someone he¡¯s trying to kill me! I need help!¡±


    Before I knew it, two men and one woman dressed in purple, white, and gold wearing a golden crown surrounded me. One of the men ran to the woman with black long hair and said, ¡°Miss, you are safe now! We will take care of the Deviant.¡±


    Just then, the woman wearing the golden crown pointed at me and shouted; ¡°Come forward icy chains. Wrap him up and freeze his body.¡± As her chains approached me, I did not know what to do. Should I run? Should I ask what''s going on? What did I do wrong for her to be attacking me?


    As I stood there frozen without an idea of what to do, I noticed the chains weren¡¯t touching me. Every time they tried to get close to my body, they were repelled back. The woman screamed to the other, ¡°He is using his magic to deflect my attack!¡±


    At that moment, the other man wearing the golden crown started walking toward me. He was very muscular with one arm that looked like a black dragon''s arm. He told the woman that he will take care of me and screamed out, ¡°By the power of the black dragon clan, I call for the hands of the dragon of death.¡± As I looked around, everything started to get dark and two big black hands grabbed me. I closed my eyes thinking this is the end and I still did not understand what was going on. I was going to die here. Alone without my mother or sisters. I closed my eyes and wished that someone could save me.


    All of a sudden, my body started to feel hot and a bright white light started to glow from my chest. The light was so bright that it dissolved the black hands.


    The man and woman wearing the golden crowns both looked confused and scared. The woman screamed out, ¡°Who are you, better yet what are you? What kind of magic is this?¡±


    I looked back at her confused but I cracked a smile and shouted, ¡°Well, I don¡¯t know anything about magic; but I¡¯m the future Prince of the Underworld! However, you can call me Bo.¡±
