《The Sightless Seer》 Ch 0: Introduction Ch: 0 Introduction The oath ceremony, a holy event where the citizens all across Serrvull¡¯la gather in their respective temples to swear themselves to a path. Whether that path be woodcutting, fighting, building castles or even burglary. though you''d be caught by the guard quite quickly if that were the case, maybe even the templars if you make a really bad oath. After all, our oaths are "sacred commitments that shape our future permanently". If the priests spent half the time praising Serr for our paths as they did training and learning the truths we''d be living in the clouds, according to Jerah they actually are really dedicated to their training compared to the nobles of Leis. How true this is is anyone''s guess since Jerah¡¯s not the wisest lad, despite his parents being merchants. Considering that it is possible to change paths I think they may be overstating their importance, but then again I don''t have one so who''s to tell, plus I''ve heard they''re painful to remove. Back to the oath ceremony, all the pathless boys in the city between 14 -16 summers old were gathered to choose a path. This is my second time attempting the ritual. I actually failed last year after trying to get an oath of a blacksmith. It was pretty stupid considering both my parents are scholars and whould have been of no help in training me in the art of smithing, but i wanted to try anyway. It had been somewhat of a childhood dream of mine to craft some legendary artifact or to make a paladin''s armor, it just wasn''t meant to be. So this time I would be swearing the oath of a scholar like my parents and hope it would work, though I doubted my chances were bad since they had been instructing me in the small truths since I could understand them.I checked my Guider while i was waiting for my name to be called, the priests in charge of the ceremony were currently trying to remove some spoilt brat from the Swearing Stand. The idiot had tried to get some sort of noble oath, not sure since I don''t really care, and had been ignored by the guide.

It was as empty as always, it brought a reminder of what would happen today. I will finally have a path, I will be an adult, but most importantly of all I get to join the order of truth. I will finally be taught the Great truths that my parents have been teasing for the last year since I completed school. ¡°Deusus Exul Machina¡± The priest in charge of the ceremony called, Jeroff i think he called himself, They had finally gotten rid of the rich brat and were continuing the ceremony.Which means there''s only five more until it¡¯s my turn. ¡°Lius Mechas Leido¡± Four more ¡°Dexer Lithus Mallim¡± Three more ¡°Diexer Lithus Mallim¡± Two more ¡°Mergon Tratis Regus¡± One more ¡°Terrus Legas Niader¡± As I saw Terrus ascend the stairs to the Swearing Stand I was figuratively sweating with nervousness, what if my oath is denied? Will my parents disown me? Will I become homeless? Okay calm down¡ breath in¡ breath out¡everything will work out, there''s no way I will fail, after all I''ve been practicing for years. It would actually be weird for the guide to actually reject me, okay here we go¡ ¡°Eldrian Koen Faerun¡± Shit, Shit, SHIT, when Terrus finished the ceremony? I looked up to the tired eyes of Jeroff from across the temple as he waited for me to step forward. Okay, it can''t be as bad as last time at least. I steeled myself and started walking towards the raised altar at the end of the cathedral, I set my eyes forwards as I ignored the tapestries of old saints and heroes decorating the walls. As I arrived in front of the raised pedestal I had managed to calm myself, and when I finally came face to face with Jeroff. It was now or never. I kneeled in front of the Swearing stand and stated my oath. Ch 1: The Oath Ch 1: The Oath ¡°I Eldrian Koen Faerun hereby swear to uncover the hidden the truths of the world and I ask of your guidance in fulfilling my path¡± The actual Oath was rather short considering the amount of thought I put into it, I didn''t want a long one though since then there is a higher chance my words might get misunderstood by the guide. Now all I had to do was wait for their response, it shouldn''t take more than a few seconds¡ unless I was rejected again¡ ¡®Notice¡¯ Entity Eldrian¡¯s oath has been accepted YES, IT WORKED! Now I won''t have to go back to my parents with another news of failure. And I finally get access to more of my guides! Okay, calm down and let''s see what I get. ¡®Notice¡¯ You have acquired the path of the ¡®Seer¡¯ Umm¡ okay, I thought I would get a scholar path, the seer path should not be much different though. After all, my oath is still about learning the world''s truths, and a path is never too different from the oath. yea let''s skip this and check the more interesting parts. Before I could interpret the rest of the messages Jeroff coughs next to me. ¡°Cough, seeing your joy I assume you''ve acquired your path young one¡± ¡°Ahh, yes, s-sorry for my rudeness, it is the path of the seer¡± He looks at me quizzically and writes down the result down in a scroll before facing the crowd below us and saying ¡°Eldrian Koen Faerun has started on the path of the seer, let us welcome him amongst us as a adult¡± A polite applause reaches my ears as I thank the priest and start heading down the stairs. I see my parents waving at me and smiling from their seats on the left side of the cathedral. I wave back as I head towards them and take my seat. ¡°Look at you, my little book stealer! A full fledged adult now, I''m so proud!¡± My mom says as she squeezes me into a hug that threatens to break my ribs. ¡°Honey, were in the middle of the ceremony wait until after¡± ¡°Fine! But once we were done you got to tell me all about your skills! I''m so exited!¡± Even while crushed by mom''s hug I can tell he¡¯s proud, though the massive grin on his face might have given it away. once mom lets go of me enough for me to breathe again I return my attention to the remaining notifications ¡®Notice¡¯ Intelligence stat unlocked ¡®Notice¡¯ Wisdom stat unlocked ¡®Notice¡¯ Flow stat unlocked ¡®Notice¡¯ Patience stat unlocked ¡®Notice¡¯ Spirit stat unlocked ¡®Notice¡¯ Skill ¡®True sight¡¯ acquired ¡®Notice¡¯ Skill ¡®Prediction¡¯ acquiredUnauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. That''s really good, I mean not in the league of a true genius that has 7-9 skills but still better than the two skills that most get. and I even have FIVE stats, most only have two to three for their first vow. Hope they have good skills or I might end up like Jarved, poor him and his six useless skills.

T-that is super cool! Although I don''t quite get the last one, but the first two more than make up for it, with this I could easily get a position in the order. I would be able to predict the results of risky experiments with ¡®Prediction¡¯ and ¡®True Sight¡¯ could become a great appraising skill if I level it up a bit. On top of that I have FIVE different stats, and all of them are mental as well! If I fail to get in the order with all of this I don''t know what I''ll do. Okay calm down, no need to freak out. I raise my head and turn my eyes to the Swearing Stand and watch the next kid go up the stairs, the last one it seems. Once he¡¯s done with his oath and is announced as a carpenter Jeroff walks to the middle of the platform and addresses the crowd. ¡°Now that the ceremony is almost over I wish to thank you all for attending us in the presence of Serr¡¯la. We are glad to announce the number of paths granted this year as more than last year, I say we thank Serr¡¯la for this great fortune and¡¡± At that point I, as well as most of the crowd, tuned the rest of the speech out. It has been repeated almost exactly the same for the last couple decades as far as I''ve been told and most of us know it by heart at this point. Instead I think about what I will do once I get home and how my parents will react to my skills. * * * * * By the time the high priest finishes his speech I''m sure at least a pace of time has passed or even two since I almost dozed off somewhere in the middle before dad mom noticed and pinched me awake, traitor. We had barely sat ourselves in our carriage when mom and dad start their relentless flurry of questions, dad''s calm fa?ade dropped in an instant as I''m swamped with questions. How many skills? What stats did I get? What skills did I get? Can I see their path now that I am a seer? Whoa, hold on! I didn''t even know that the last one was a thing! ¡°Wait, let me speak!¡± ¡°Fine come on, don''t keep us hanging, we want to know everything¡± I smile as I look my dad straight in the eye and raise three fingers. his eyes widen in joy as he asks. ¡°Three stats! That''s great! with that you could really do something¡± I shake my head as I wave my hand in front of me. ¡°Wait, you mean you got three skills!?¡± Mom exclaims in joy, at this point my grin gives it away and dad also realizes what it means. Both of them restart their rigorous questioning and when I reveal my five stats as well dad almost faints from joy. It seems they were equally if not more nervous than me about my result after last year''s failure, it¡¯s not until we pull up to our house that they finally start calming down. I didn''t even eat anything before I crashed in my bed and started sleeping, dreaming of curling lines and skills. Ch 2: The Instructor Ch 2: The Instructor ¡®Notice¡¯ Skill ¡®Flow of Time¡¯ has leveled up(0 - 1) ¡®Notice¡¯ Skill ¡®Flow of Time¡¯ has leveled up(1 - 2) ¡®Notice¡¯ Skill ¡®True Sight¡¯ has leveled up(0-1) ¡®Notice¡¯ You have gained a level(0 - 1) Huh¡ I leveled up? Already? but I haven''t used any of my skills yet? Unless they leveled up while I was sleeping? As I''m thinking about my levels I start getting dressed and heading down to the kitchen, on the way I pass by a window and see my reflection. I''m wearing scholar''s robes, a gray/whitish cloak embroidered with patterns of eyes that seem to blink with the movement of the cloth. And like most Velorian I''m a little more than 2,10m tall and have near white pale skin, blonde hair and ice blue eyes. According to what I know of history, we Varian¡¯s are an evolved form of a species known as Humans, and we were adapted for the freezing frost of the far north. But it¡¯s mostly seen as church propaganda since the only humans I know of are those found in archeological expeditions to the first layer. It is actually a hot topic whether or not they are extinct or just live so far away that we haven''t found them yet, or maybe rediscovered? Anyway as I entered the dining room I saw my mom being, rather forcefully, sat down at the table by the head maid while arguing about something. ¡°What! I said I could help!¡± ¡°With all due respect ma''am, last time you ¡®helped¡¯ we had to replace half of the kitchen¡± ¡°Come on! That was one time and it''s ¡ Oh hi there Eldrian, nice of you to join us¡± Her attitude made a complete shift as she saw me and made a gesture to her right, it was the seat at the head of the table. Where either mom or dad would usually sit. ¡°Are you sure?¡± I asked, it was unusual for her to give up her seat. ¡°Just sit there son, it''s your aging day after all¡¡± The ¡®aging day¡¯ huh¡ after the ceremony there were three days where different celebrations were to take place, and first of them was the aging day. Where i was to spend time with my parents as they introduce me to the intricacies of the guide. ¡°...we managed to get a hold of a good path instructor. He will be showing up any minute and will be guiding you through your new abilities and hopefully helping you reach the first tier.¡±Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. But then again they have never been much for tradition. ¡°Really? Who is it? I thought you were going to introduce me?¡± ¡°We were originally but he was recommended to your father by one of his colleagues.¡± ¡±Apparently he¡¯s really good, one of his mentees actually made it as a Paladin¡± After that I could barely wait as I scarfed down my breakfast while trying to ask my parents what to expect from him. They were unrelenting though and told me nothing, saying that: ¡°It¡¯ll be a fun little surprise¡± It didn''t take long after that for him to arrive, the maid that came with the news was nearly flattened against the wall as I ran down the corridor, rushing to finally get started with my skills. After passing through several finely laid stone corridors I arrived at the entrance, seeing that no carriage was on the road. I was confused. Where are they? ¡°I see that we¡¯ve got ourselves a eager one here¡± I jumped at the voice as I turned around. There in front of me dressed in scholar robes the same as mine but with deep royal blue eyes was a man so old and frail he looked like he would fly away with the lightest breeze. His hair was so shriveled that he was practically bald, his bent stature making him barely 1,80 lengths tall. But none of that did anything to hide the aura of wisdom that surrounded him. the gentle wisps of words flowing around his form with every movement. almost as if he were the presence of knowledge itself. ¡°Tier four¡¡± ¡°Indeed boy, it seems you have been taught the basics, I''m assuming this means we can go straight to the important stuff then¡± He said as he started heading towards a nearby park with much more grace than should be possible. ¡°Ah, wait let me tell my parents¡¡± ¡°Dont worry about it, i just spoke with them about what we¡¯ll be doing, there fine¡± I stared questioningly at¡ him. I need to learn his name. It had barely been a minute since I left my parents. ¡°Umm, when did you¡¡± ¡°Didn''t I tell you! Just now, and you really need to work on your speed if you think that''s fast. By the way you can call me Verrod, and no I''m not older than 200 thank you very much¡± I looked at Verrod in wonder as he answered all my questions, I hadn''t even asked him half of them¡ Yet¡ ¡°How¡¡± ¡°Did I know what you were going to ask?¡± ¡°Yes! I¡¯d like to know¡± ¡°It''s one of my skills, I wouldn''t be much of a teacher if I couldn''t understand my own students.¡± ¡°Wow¡ so you can understand what I want to know?¡± ¡°Yep, and no I''m not going help you sneak in to the women''s changing room¡± ¡°I wasn''t even wondering about that!¡± ¡°Yes you were, just not openly¡± I grumbled as we reached the middle of the park and Verrod sat down on a bench. It was in the middle of summer and the Frost Gales were blooming all over the nicely trimmed lawn, each shining in a different shade of white and blue. Birds of all sorts of colors were chasing each other through the trees seemingly singing in harmony with nature. There was no one around in sight but me and the old instructor. ¡°This seems like a nice spot to talk in¡± He said as he made himself comfortable. ¡°Lets not waste any more sunlight and start, tell me about your skills Eldrian¡±
