《Yet another dungeon core》 Chapter 1 - The Beginning Excerptof a Dungeoneers study Upon my many years of study into the origins and source of the places that we inhabitants of this world have come to call Dungeons I have come across one singular truth across them all. There are no new dungeons and no old dungeons. I have delved their depths and spoke to their avatars and they all agree with one thing, the only varience is their time of reveal and that is why they always have the same amount of floors. Their purpose is unknown to them but we have used them for wealth, glory, power and in some cases defense of the land itself. -Unknown --------------------------------------- ---------THE-------START-------- --------------------------------------- At the start of creation, or as someone would just call the beginning, the world was in its infancy all on its own. With time different mortal species began to evolve and with it a system came into existence as the world attempted to give its peoples the power to defend itself from the threats of the [Beyond]. This is where the first flaw lay, it created a system of [Experience] where by the use of actions you could grow stronger and craft yourself a [Class] solely unqiue to yourself. This seemed fine at the start, no one knew how to use it until someone studied it. Where most took the warrior, healer or crafting route in an attempt to lay waste to the monsters which the lands produced naturally a singular mage began to study what would become known as [Necromancy]. By brining the first [Undead] into this world and the first [Minion] was formed. The newly created [Necromancer] sent his creation out into the fields and saw that as it slew the [Slime] which were within his influential sphere both it and he grew in [Experience] and so it snowballed. He took the core of a [Slime] and created a [Necrotic] version with its own ability. You see, when a slime grows enough, it splits and an undying one such as the one he created was a blight upon the planet. Growing and spreading indefinitely the world had to intervene. First the world began to take note of what its System had created, then it made the Arbiters, beings of immense power made to sanction and prune parts of the System as and when required. These Arbiters became known as the [Gods]. Falling upon the mortal realm they ended the blight and the [Necromancer] which had begun it before leaving. Each one taking an aspect unto their own and so the first limit was laid upon a class. [Necromancer] or rather the [Necromancy] that it granted to the user was no longer allowed to keep the naturally occurring skills of a monster that was raised and they gained the racial restriction [Undead] and the first [Priest] class was granted, its own magic which was simply known as [Holy] was created to oppose such a thing as the [Undead] species gained a natural weakness to this, at least the lower tiers did. What happened next was a massacre, for the first time since the creation of the system a new threat from the [Beyond] slipped through the planes and found its way onto this still forming society. The being was easy to describe in one way, a writhing mass of black shadows and tentacles that dragged its way through the world leaving pathways of corruption behind it and from this came the first [Void Egg]. A [Void Egg] at this time was a simple 4ft tall ball of spikes which when given enough [Experience], as the mass which came from the beyond stole it from those they killed, hatched into a horrific facsimile of a human. Their bodies made from the same shadows as the beast from the [Beyond] except their arms were tipped of blades. Together they tore through the inhabitants of our world until the [Gods] descended once more. Applying their own understanding of the system to create a fracture in the world, splitting the landmasses into smaller ones in their battle to remove the [Voidlings] and the beast of the [Beyond]. Once their fight was over they returned to their own plane where they contemplated just what to do. After all, they couldn''t manage the System the world created if they had to descend and deal with these beasts could they. So they wondered what to do, before one of them took the idea of that first [Necromancer] and thought of a self replicating monster which the mortals could use to gain [Experience] in order to grow their [Class] and become able to defend their selves. This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there. First they tried the [Slime] taking a core out of the freshly created body of the [Impure mana] of the planet and condensed it into the tiniest of spherical gems, first they programmed it to absorb this [Impure Mana] and to expel it into a [Mana] more acceptable for the mortal body. They planted this core into one of the newly formed land fractures and waited. As they waited and watched they saw how the conversion was not perfect, the core absorbed and absorbed the [Impure Mana] yet only let out a fraction of the [Mana] which mortals could use. The passive [Experience] gain of the area may have gone up. But it was of no use. So they fractured the core and let it shatter, releasing just as much [Mana] as it had absorbed. Mortals in the immediate area gained experience at a rapid rate. So they changed their plan. Taking another set of these cores, they condensed multiple and created the first [Mana Core]. This acted in a new way, consuming [Impure Mana] and pumping out monsters of varying types, yet when these ones were killed they granted a higher tier of [Experience] to the mortals upon the planet. And so they watched. The levelling of these mortals increased immensely on this continent, but it was not enough. Another beast from [Beyond] was brought into the world and while the mortals managed on their own, the continent was left a wasteland where nothing could survive. The [Mana Core] shattering when the beast entered the world. So they went back to the metaphorical drawing board. This time they combined the ideas, create something which could absorb the [Impure Mana] and pump out both [Mana] and monsters. Yet nothing happened when they placed this upon a new land. It was inert until a young mortal passed on near it. There was a small spark as the body of the mortal vanished along with its equipment. The system reacted and for the first time since the experiments began a new change to the system was created. A [Primal Core] was formed and the World itself took note. The world prodded this [Primal Core] and granted it a small hint of access to the System triggering a change, slowly the [Primal Core] woke and began to consume [Impure Mana] and the land itself at an immense rate all while pumping out new monsters, made from this [Mana] and when they died these dropped their own items what became known as [Loot] as well as the [Experience] mortals needed. A ripple ran through the World that day as it shattered and took the [Primal Core] into its own hands. Letting the [Gods] watch and input their own essence and knowledge of the system, binding this new creation. They created a set of spherical gems now known as the first [Dungeon Cores] each one granted its own access to the system and its own sentience so that it could do its job with a few directives. 1 - To absorb [Impure Mana] from the world 2 - To output [Mana] in the forms of Monsters which can provide [Experience] and [Loot] to those who slew it 3 - To understand that if it was [Shattered] then it would no longer exist. 4 - To always be accessible to the world. 5 - To be a Dungeon you need Floors and Monsters. This was so that the [Dungeon Core] would slowly evolve with time, no longer being just an animal but its own thinking being, at least that was the hope. The World proceeded to seed these [Dungeon Core]s within their own plane so that they could grow without restraint. First they would create their initial floor and portal to the world itself. Then it would lure mortals within it and fight. This caused what is now known as the first System Edict. A message to all mortals appeared and so it read: {Rejoice! For the World has seen your limits and the World has watched and listened. As of now there will be the formations of [Dungeon]s. A place to gain riches, loot beyond your wildest imaginations but more importantly [Experience] for your classes and growth. Be aware, these [Dungeon]s are not meant to be a place to have fun and play around. They are a place to test your mettle for the defense of the World. Good Luck.] And so the World fell silent once more, leaving it to the [Gods] and mortals. --------------------------------------- ---------THE-------CORE--------- ---------------------------------------- Now, while all this was going on we have our own main character if you will. The [Core] of this story in more ways than one. It was not sentient, not really, it was a smaller [Core] of no colour and you could see right through it. As it saw its own System directives it simply waited. While the other [Core]s grew, gained sentience and expanded gaining their builds, their floors and their monsters, it just waited. Simply falling asleep once again, letting the planes energies wash over it. Absorbing it in preparation for when it felt ready, if it did. Chapter 2 - Where are my tables Exerp of a Dungeoneers study A [Dungeon] is a place unlike any that we would find naturally. These are places granted power by the very World, goverened by the [Gods] themselves. They take in the [Impure Mana] of the world which we mortals are unable to use and as a result, this lessens the amount of rogue monsters spawning within the land for the most part, of course we still have our natural formed beasts which unless culled can grow at an immense rate due to the impurities. However in [Dungeon]s this is different. In a [Dungeon] the [Core] takes in these impurities and forms a limited version of a monster who''s difficulty seems to scale based upon the floor itself. Some [Dungeon]s like to stick to a theme, for example the one deemed the [Dungeon] of Radience has taken to having only monsters which could be seen as having a positive alignment upon the world, the opposite to the [Dungeon] of the Damned who only seems to spawn those of a negative alignment. Of course this is only two examples out of the many out there. Upon slaying one of these [Dungeon] monsters it releases a burst of pure [Mana] which we can use to increase our own strength as a mortal and continue to curate our own [Class] in the race to become strong enough to defend what we need. Not just this occurs as there is also [Loot] which drops from these monsters but that is another chapters story -------------------------------- ---------THE--CORE--AWAKENS----- -------------------------------- In the plane where all [Dungeon]s reside we have our resident sleeper itself. An unammed simple [Core] who simply let itself drift within the waves of the [Dungeon]s who have long since settled into their role and awoken properly. It would be during a convergence of their [Avatar]s which this one awoke, as much as a clear spherical gem with a base understanding of its directives could. The [Core] stretched its presence out, slowly, steadily before it came to a hault. It opened its awareness and took hold of what it could see. It was nothing, yet something. And then it became aware of the blue screen. /Create Core Room?/ /YES - NO/ The screen floated, awaiting a selection. The [Core] paused its actions, taking a moment before selecting YES. Time seemed to hang for the young [Core] as materials were granted by the world itself, slowly a small cavern of a black rock formed around the spherical gem before a small pillar of this black rock formed beneath it. /Congratulations - Core Room created, you are now ready to start building your first floor. Follow your directives and the [Gods] shall watch in your favour/ Another screen floated, seeming to grant instruction before blinking away. The [Core] took a moment, or moments, for time did not matter to it just yet to survey its new [Status] |STATUS| |Species - Core| -Core Stats- | |Health - 10| |Level - 1| |Mana Generation - 10.42 per hour| |Mana Bank - 500| |Experience - 0/150| |-Titles-| It pauses at it looks at this new screen before selecting [Core Stats] moving onto its next window. |Core Stats| |Awareness - Basic, Growing| |Vitality - 10| |Strength - TBD| |Mob Cap - TBD| It pauses seing the small window of only two single stats before focusing on them... |[Awareness] is the sense of self which a being gets as it grows from a non thinking being to one of sentience. This can be increased| |[Vitality] is the stat tied to ones health or [HP], where normal beings have a base multiplier you are a [Core] which has a health tied to their [Strength] This can be increased| |[Strength] is the numerical value of which a being can produce a force, however being a [Core] this is the value in which you can take damage. This can be increased| |[Mob type] This is a classification a [Core] undertakes once it has finished its first floor and is ready to take its first step into generating monsters from the [Impure Mana] which lays upon the planet for Mortals to slay.| It pauses a moment before going over the screen a few times, watching as [Basic, Growing] turned into [Growing]. For the first time, the [Core] generated something close to a hum for it. Seperating its newly forming awareness from the screen and dismissing it, it looked at the other sections. Selecting [Titles] there was a flicker of blue as yet another new screen occured. |-Titles-| |None| |Congratulations for accessing your status and viewing your titles, for showing this the World shall now look at your actions from hence onwards and grant you titles you are worthy of.Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. Congratulations. Title granted. [Patient One].| |[Patient One] For staying unaware and resting while your fellow [Core]s have built massive empires spanning the size of worlds you have been provided a slight bonus in regards to your [Mana] If your [Bank] is not full by the end of the day you shall gain a free 10% of your bank. Remember to stay active!| The [Core] flickers along the screens infront of it, understanding a little as it continued to read on. Doing the maths that tied to its Mana Generation of 10.42 an hour that would mean that per day it gained a total of 250 at this point with a total of 300 including the effect of this [Title]. Pausing it flicks its growing awareness through the plane it now existed in, almost looking at the other [Core]s first floors. They were all basic things, a small regular animal or a slime of some kind with obvious traps. The [Core] pauses, a flicker of thought passing through it. It didnt want to do these. After all, they were not... exciting. It was the same, basic almost. It wanted more. It wanted to [Evolve] and grow. The [Core] turns away from its minor muses, its own directives pushing it to move on. Focusing back on its own little core room it begins to expand itself. Building a new small corridor infront of it which lead into a slow cavern. There was nothing special about this [Room] a simple cave really with jagged edges and lips where creatures of the underground could live, in all honesty it would not be amiss if you stumbled upon a cave System from the ground but that didnt stop our young creator and it pushed on, creating a few more looping corridors and two extra rooms before yet another screen showed up. |Floor Limit reached. Congratulations you have now set up your first layout. Out of these 3 rooms 2 of which will be for your own defense and 1 will be an entrance way in which [Adventures] can come in without worry. This shall be the [Entranceway]. For building this you have now unlocked your first monster type. Please select from the below| |Species - Description - Evolution Paths| |Slime - A common species, formed when the concentration of [Mana] takes on the aspect of a [Core] without the worlds interference. This forms what is known as a [Mana Shere]. A [Mana Sphere] left alone will aspect with a type based on its surroundings before producing a small gelatinous blob of minor intelligence which, without direction, shall consume and split continuously. Be warned, a [Slime] left unhindered can soon become a hoard. - Evolution paths are currently unknown, to unlock these you can either absorb a [Slime] of this kind, a [Mana Sphere] or perhaps experiment yourself. Who knows| |Goblin - Goblins are a blight upon the World, these small green beings are not very smart but their instincts drive them to procreate and spread. A [Goblin]s pack tends to be small but can rapidly swell when not corralled or culled by the local population. When a pack does swell there will be unique [Evolution]s that are tied to the pack. - Evolution paths are currently unknown, to unlock these you can let a [Gobin] pack grow, absorb the corpse of an [Evolved Goblin], or experiment yourself. Be warned choosing a solo [Goblin] type dungeon is a risk, they have been known to rapidly procreate themselves and if they [Evolve] far enough then they may just decide you are a source of [Experience]| |Rat - Its a [Rat], what do you expect of them? Fine, [Rat]s are the swarming vermin of the world, rife where there are disease and all of the like. These small vermin are not unlike a [Goblin] in the fact that they are quick breeding and fast to swarm, but unlike a [Goblin] these animals will happily take to cannibalism if there is not enough food in the area. - Evolution paths are unknown. Experiment to find out more| |Lizard - The [Lizard] is a rather unique monster to claim as a first, these small reptiles are theorised to have, given enough time [Mana] and [Experience] evolve into both sentient Mortals and [Dragonoid]s alike. Though this is just a thoery after all. A [Lizard] has very few disadvantages but it is worth noting that while they do not have a very high level of agressiveness, if they do manage to gain [Experience] then they just may become something unique. - Evolutions are currently unknown, the System provides the theory of their possible [Evolution]s but that would require you to experiment to find out| |{UNIQUE} Dungeon Chimera - The [Chimera], or the [Amalgam] is a unique monster, only being available to the most patient of [Core]s or a [Core] which has lived an exceptionally long time and absorbed a multitude of rogue monsters and adventures. The [Chimera] harkens back to the early days of the System where the World let anything go. These beings were usually created by some aspiring mortal trying to create a class relating to a [Flesh Golem] through the fusing of different species. The [Dungeon Chimera] is different in that aspect, like that of a slime a Dungeon Chimera is powered through the use of a [Mana Sphere] and their strength is matched only by the [Material]s used in the creation of a specific pattern. Due to this no two [Dungeon Chimera] are guaranteed the same no matter how a [Core] creates this. Furthermore, a [Dungeon Chimera]s [Mana Sphere] can be augmented by other [Material]s in on itself, with various tiers providing different bonuses to the final product. Evolutions - Any [Evolution]s vary based on the [Material]s, [Mana Sphere] and [Part]s used within a [Dungeon Chimera]. This is truly the one to go for if you wish to build a {UNIQUE} [Dungeon]| The [Core] hums, flicking over the choice that now lay before it. So simple to some after all how could a [Dungeon Chimera] be useful to those who have yet to gain any [Material]s or [Pattern]s of other kinds. However, this is something that our young [Core] does not yet understand. As the young [Core] goes through the 5 choices infront of it, it finds its desicion made rapidly, seing the {UNIQUE} tag it chose it believing this to be the best option. |Congratulations| |You have now chosen your first [Mob] - The [Dungeon Chimera]. For chosing a [Mob] which you cannot create the System is granting you two free [Pattern]s.| |.... Choosing Patterns...| |Patterns chosen. [Rat] and [Lizard] obtained. To gain more patterns please absorb more species or [Level up]| Chapter 3 - Science and numbers Exerpt of a Dungeoneers study [Dungeon]s, a place of mystical wonder... Well to the uninitiated. These places only have 3 things in common. [Loot], [Mob]s and Death. [Loot] is an interesting thing, it is created from the [Mana] that we as mortals cannot convert in one sense but at the same time it is wholly different. From what those like me have found, [Loot] seems to be intrinsically tied to the [Floor] one gains it on with later [Loot] being deemed as worth more due to it being much more effective or unique in some way shapes or form. A common theory is that these items are there to incentivize delving the depths to grow stronger and to gain the [Experience] for us to fight the incursions of the [Beyond]. Of course we cannot be sure of this as the [Avatar]s of these [Dungeon]s and even they will not share their secrets. [Loot] tends to have tiers tied with its difficulty. The earliest, bare basics. Leathers, daggers, sticks that aren''t quite [Wand]s yet but have a fraction of their ability seem to occur in the early [Floor]s with various chests, moneys and the like. This does scale with each [Floor] one descends with rumor''s that those which have reached the [Core Room] being granted unique skills, items, equipment of a type which can only be seen in the [Dungeon] which granted it. This [Core Room] [Loot] has only been revealed to the world a handful of times with them being decreed national treasures in each land which they have been shared. The Northern lands which were rules by the [Pirate King] Lester Blackwood revealed the [Buccaneer''s Blade] which doesn''t strike anyone with confidence, but the [Pirate King] put it to great use. After conquering the [Sea Labyrinth] he came out with a this treasure which is known to be able to command the seas themselves. Historic recollections tell us of the [Pirate King] using it to summon a [Lightning God Kraken] to fight of an invasion from the [Beyond] consuming Lester''s energy in the summoning of such a beast. Another example was a [Ring] brought to us by the [Hero Priestess] Lumare. This [Ring] was told be named [The Ring of Ashes] and by fulfilling a set of conditions which we know to be: The ashes of a recently felled mortal No more than 2 days since death A willing sacrifice Then we were able to bring back anyone who had fallen. Following the history of this [Ring] shows us that Lumare used this ring thrice before the gems which it held fell dull and that there was no longer any way to use this ability leaving us back where we were. Some say that we should have never used such a device granted by the [Dungeon] we came to call [Angel''s Rest] and others say that we put it to good use. But it is all speculation and we cannot act further. Now [Mob]s, do not get me wrong when I say this. Every dungeon has them, that is the only similarity that is guaranteed between them, each one has their own variations, their own beasts, their own ecosystems sometimes which means one thing. No two [Mob]s of the same type will be the same in two dungeons. A [Slime] in [Angel''s Rest] is a passive beast, one best described as [Experience] fodder for our youngest mortals whereas a [Slime] in the [Sea Labyrinth] is a large amorphous blob who will attack with ranged spears of water if you even enter its range of awareness. So do not expect the same thing whenever you encounter one anywhere. To this I would point you to the [Bestiary] which is updated regularly by the [Guild]s who help manage [Dungeon] runs. Another thing to keep in mind about [Mob]s is that they are more than just stronger the deeper you go, but they are older. A [Dungeon] with an ecosystem will pit their creations against each other in order to make them grow and evolve into different and unique beings. Those of us research [Mob]s have theorized that if they evolve or level to a certain degree then they could just gain [Sentience] and if they manage that then they are granted a few things by their [Core]. 1 - They will always [Respawn] following their death once the floor is clear. 2 - The [Respawn]ed version shall know everything the prior did all the way to its point of death. 3 - There is no difference between one who has not been [Respawn]ed and one who has been which lays the question, is it the same soul in a different body? Do [Mob]s have the ability to gain a soul but are unable to leave the [Dungeon]s domain due to their body being built from [Mana] 4 - Their name will be displayed by the [System] for us and that colour will display just how strong they are. One notable example is [Kain The Kobalt Lord] from the [Volcanic Depths]. A [Mob] with a golden name, which is currently theorized to be the oldest and strongest. And this leads us to our final similarity. Death. The one consistent upon the world and especially the [Dungeon]s. A [Dungeon] is not a place for those faint of heart. The early floors may be their to train us and level us but we will always risk chance of death. There is no out unless we find another or stronger [Ring of Ashes]. Death is final for us, but not necessarily for [Mob]s. Do not forget this reader, if you enter without preperation, you will die. Always enter with a party, trusted allies, friends, family, whoever just make sure you are not alone. There have been no people who are able to delve a [Floor] on their own, even those who have attempted to cultivate a [Class] for this. -------------------------------- -------THE-CORE-EXPERIMENTS----- -------------------------------- So here we are with our newly formed and slowly growing [Core] just after it has found its first [Mob] the [Dungeon Chimera]. The [Core] lets out a soft ripple, it could progress now. Flicking through its menus it comes across a new section |SPAWN MOB| /Mob Type/ |Would you like to spawn a [Mob] initial cost will vary based on materials, type, level and stats.| |YES|NO| Selecting yes the small [Core]s mind was taken to what could only be described as a "DESIGN YOUR MOB" screen. |[Mob] type chosen. [Dungeon Chimera].| |Only 1 variation of [Mana Sphere] variation available.| |Solidified Mana sphere {Unaspected} chosen| |Patterns available [Rat] and [Lizard]| |Incorporated currently available patterns into designer.| |Would you like a TUTORIAL| |YES|NO| The [Core] pauses, viewing the screens which had popped up in front of it. Coming to the conclusion that as it had little to no variation available on what it could use the system quickly sped through a few early selections, hoping that this would change in the future it flicked those screens away until it came to the TUTORIAL option. Selecting |YES| a new set of explanations appeared. |Design''a''Mob| |Welcome to Design''a''Mob an exclusive area only available to those [Core]s who take to experimenting with their patterns! In your case you are building the full pattern from scratch based on pre-existing ones to make new things for the system! That is the way of the [Dungeon Chimera] to take what exists and apply it in new an exciting ways!| |During your selection of this new variation of [Mana Sphere] [Mob] you were provided with the patterns and materials for 2 already existing animals, the [Rat] and the [Lizard]. In this selection screen we shall go through what each selection means for you and your monsters.| |First. Materials, of which you have 4! Each one has their own bonus, or stat multiplier, to the final total of points that you have to play with. Please note that each material may or may not have a different effect upon a [Dungeon Chimera] further to what you have already noted. This can be learned and your materials list updated once you realize just what occurs.| |Material Type | Base Stat | Stat Multiplier | Special Bonus | | Unaspected Mana | 0 | 0.25 | ???? | | Bone | 1 | 0.75 | ???? | | Stone | 1 | 1 | ???? | Flesh | 2 | 1 | ???? | |As you can see above each material has its own pros and its own cons. These work in the following ways: Base stat - This is the initial combination of numbers which will allow you to have a minimum number of stats for that pattern. Stat Multiplier - The total of this will be summarized in the following sum to make a stat total: Base stat x Stat Multiplier = Base Stat Total Once you have that BST (Base stat total) you will be able to allocate this into the nodes for each pattern which will result in your level 1 stats.| |Please do note, that the average level of a mortal is 5 by the time they enter their first [Dungeon]. However this does not mean equality between each [Race] each race has their own [Racial]s which will shift their base stats around to best suit them or effect them in other ways. An average level 5 mortal should have a base of 5 in every stat no matter the [Racial]| |Another thing to note is that [Mob]s can level up, something some [Dungeon]s do is create a pseudo ecosystem or battle area in which any [Mob]s on a floor can fight with one another in order to grow stronger and gain [Experience]. In this situation a [Dungeon Chimera] would only need to beat a fellow [Dungeon Chimera] in such a way that only the [Mana Sphere] remains so that they can gain a small amount of [Experience] but if the [Mana Sphere] is consumed a total of 75% of the accumulated [Experience] is passed on, with each a cap of a 2 level increase at a time as to avoid mass powering up.|The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. |The final thing to note about a [Dungeon Chimera] is that as long as their [Mana Sphere] is still in tact and within a [Dungeon]s sphere of influence then they are able to reform at a rate of Cost*2 instantly or for Cost*0.9 if it has [Mana] pumped into it over time. Additionally once spawned a [Dungeon Chimera] will slowly consume a small amount of your [Mana] per day which lowers the amount you will gain.| |Now that we have explained in a very large info dump about the ins and outs of your [Dungeon Chimera], their [Mana Sphere] materials and to a degree the math''s behind it. Its time to discuss patterns!| |Patterns are a wonderous things created by the system so that a [Core] does not have to individually remember and recreate the exitance of an animal or [Mob]. Through the use of the records a [Core] can then manipulate and chose to save an edited pattern to its own personal record be this unique [Evolution]s or just a variation on creation to increase or decrease something in regards to it. More often than not this tends to be a [Mana] cost.| |At the moment you only have access to two patterns but this does allow you for a lot more play than other [Core]s. As a [Dungeon Chimera] [Core] you are able to mix, match and combine your patterns in order to create a shell or form for each of your designs, be this a [Lizard] with a [Rat]s tail or some other combination. What makes this so unique is that you are able to create a [Mob] with the abilities of another. Think of what you could do with the pattern of a [Dragon] or a [Basilisk] a stone gazer [Rat] or a [Lizard] which can breath fire. The possibilities are defined by you and you alone... Well within reason of course the stats you apply and the [Mana] you produce are your limiters.| |CONGRATULATIONS - TUTORIAL COMPLETE| |Grow young [Core], experiment, learn. Survive| |CLOSE TUTORIAL| The [Core] flicks through the TUTORIAL slowly, taking in the instructions which lay before it another small spark within it, a spark of imagination really, occurs as it does so. It could create, not recreate or modify, but create new exciting beasts eventually, though not as it was. A flicker of something runs through it as it selects the |CLOSE TUTORIAL| option. Once the screens fell away the Design''a''Mob screen became viable. On the left lay the different patterns that it had available and on the right it had the materials that were also available. Looking over these it saw those which were mentioned within the TUTORIAL. With the equivalent of a [Core]s smile it got to work. First it selected the pattern of a [Rat] which was broken down into a schematic, in which there was a small table near the bottom of the Design''a''Mob screen which consisted of a quick description, stat total and breakdown of the schema. |[Rat] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Rat | DEFAULT | | Torso | Rat | DEFAULT | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Rat | DEFAULT | |Total stats: 32| |For a rat the default selections are that of rat species parts and the default material is of Flesh.| Upon selecting the rat and seeing this the [Core] quickly saw what lay in front of it before swapping to the [Lizard] schematic. |[Lizard] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Lizard | DEFAULT | | Torso | Lizard | DEFAULT | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Lizard | DEFAULT | |Total stats: 32| Seeing that there was no initial difference in between the two [Mob]s the core decided to start playing around. First it selected a base of [Rat] and decided to toy around with some of the selections, swapping the default material to stone and watching as the schema began to change. |[Stone Chimeric Rat] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Rat | Stone | | Torso | Rat | Stone | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Rat | Stone | |Total stats: 8| |Bonus Effects| | ?????????? | | ?????????? | The [Core] pauses noting a the more important changes. First, the pattern had seemingly changed dynamically, whilst it was still a [Rat] in form it had gained the [Stone Chimeric] additional to its species. Secondly there was a major drop in the base stats, instead of having the 32 which the [Rat] had the [Stone Chimeric Rat] had a base of 8. Finally, the unknown bonus effects, two in this case which it knew it would only find out by actually creating the beast. Setting this seemingly lackluster beast aside it began to toy with the schema once again, this time selecting that of a [Lizard] and choosing bone. |[Skeletal Chimeric Lizard] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Lizard | Bone | | Torso | Lizard | Bone | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Lizard | Bone | |Total stats: 12| |Bonus Effects| | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | The [Core] pauses at this, pulling up the [Stone Chimeric Rat] it compares the two patterns it now held before noting 2 things. Bone seemingly had a larger base stat in some way and that the [Skeletal Chimeric Lizard] had 1 extra effect. Deciding not to focus on this for now the [Core] moves onto its next experiment, this time using a mixture of selections. Bone, Flesh and Unaspected Mana just to see what could occur. Once it had selected these materials it chose the tail of a [Lizard] and a [Rat]s body. |[Mana Touched Skeletal Tipped Rizard] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Rat | Bone | | Torso | Rat | Unaspected Mana | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Lizard | Flesh | |Total stats: 15| |Bonus Effects| | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | The [Core] takes in its new creation, flicking over the results. First, it was the strongest creation so far with a base of 15 total stats atop of anything it would begin with. Secondly, 7 different and unknown effects. The young [Core] felt itself spark. Experimentation was seemingly the way to go, but it had to do something about the name. Focusing upon it a smaller box showed up |Name editing| |Is your creations name too long? Would you like to edit it? Welcome to the fabulous name rater where we take your name and throw it at you. Please not this only works with new creations and not base patterns.| |New name| |--------| Selecting the blank box it quickly input F.M.B Rizard. The box closed and the pattern changed |[F.M.B Rizard] Schema| | Body Part | Selection | Material | | Head | Rat | Bone | | Torso | Rat | Unaspected Mana | | Arms | =Legs | =Legs | | Legs | Lizard | Flesh | |Total stats: 15| |Bonus Effects| | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | ?????????? | | Renamed | With its new base patterns the [Core] moved on. It had to spawn them. Flicking its awareness over to its first cave it focused on one of its [Stone Chimeric Rat]s and watched as it began to spin into existence. As the pattern first created the [Solidified Mana{Unaspected}] [Mana Sphere] there was a new pop up |Allocate your stats| |As you are spawning a [Dungeon Chimera] for the first time please allocate the -8- points from creation to the base level 1. Please note these are permanent and shall not be editable in the future unless you recreate the pattern.| |Vitality: Base 7| |Strength: Base 5| |Agility: Base 2| Focusing on the stats the descriptions for each showed |Vitality| |This is a measurement of how strong a [Mob]s defenses are, the higher this number the harder they are to kill. They are survivors.| |Strength| |This is a measurement of how strong a [Mob]s offenses are, the higher this is the better they are at killing. This also makes the beast more vicious than most.| |Agility| |This is the simple measurement of how good a [Mob] is at moving, dodging and the like.| |Stats are a simple numerical value, however these do have various multipliers, additions, subtractions which shall affect them in truth. Additionally, buffs or added affects can change this.| As the [Core] read these blocks of information it allocated its [Stone Chimeric Rat]s stats to be the following: | Base | Bonus | Extra Effects | Total | |Vitality: 7| 0 | 10 | 17 | |Strength: 5| 2 | 0 | 7 | |Agility: 2| 6 | 0 | 8 | |Mana cost calculated - Per instance of this [Mob] you require 3.2 Mana per day to sustain this. Failure to do so will result in the shattering of its [Mana Sphere] and the mob dying| |ALERT: BONUS "Stoneskin" unlocked| |Stoneskin: Due to its entire skin being made of stone this beast becomes much harder to kill. Applies a flat base of +10 to vitality.| Once the allocation of stats had occurred and the alerts had been placed slowly but surely the pattern settled and the small rat was created. At a quick glance you would think that this rather large 3ft beast was a simple rat at least until it began to move. First, in one of the eyes was a [Solidified Mana{Unaspected}] [Mana Sphere] and then its skin and fir was the colour of grey stone, flexible in a sense that only magic would allow. Now its defenses had started it formed 9 more of the beasts until it had its first 10 defenders. The cave itself began to fill with sounds of rats as they scraped one another and ran around the small section. Feeling a dip in its total [Mana] available to it over time it moved onto its next creation, the [Skeletal Chimeric Lizard]. Again the Allocation screen came up. and Again the [Core] set its new beasts stats. |Vitality: Base 3| |Strength: Base 5| |Agility: Base 8| | Base | Bonus | Extra Effects | Total | |Vitality: 3| 3 | 0 | 6 | |Strength: 5| 2 | 0 | 7 | |Agility: 8| 7 | 0 | 15 | The [Core] desired these to dart between the [Rat] based mobs, so as the [Skeletal Chimeric Lizard]s formed it took note, they were nothing but the skeleton of a [Lizard] without anything to hold them together other than the [Solidified Mana{Unaspected}] [Mana Sphere] which lay inbetween the bone tail and the rest of the small beasts. Ignoring the fact its defenders seemed so, lackluster, the core moved to its 2nd cave, the one right before its [Core] Room and selected the [F.M.B Rizard], once again its allocation screen came up. |Vitality: Base 5| |Strength: Base 7| |Agility: Base 9| | Base | Bonus | Extra Effects | Total | |Vitality: 5| 5 | 0 | 10 | |Strength: 7| 9 | 0 | 16 | |Agility: 9| 1 | 0 | 10 | This would be its strongest creation yet, and most costly. Spinning the pattern up and spawning the beasts in it created a swarm and decided to allow them to fight one another to improve. Feeling the dip it watched as a large 15 went to fighting with one another, if one failed, well the [Core] deemed it fit. Survival was what was important. And Survive it shall.
