Chu Yu''s brow furrowed as he suddenly increased the force in his hand!
"Ptui!"
@@novelbin@@
However, a momentter, Shao He spat a mouthful of clotted blood on him as she parted her bluish-purple lips!
Her eyes sparkled with defiance, and with a wild and arrogantugh, she said, "Chu Yu, murder should not be overdone, what is there to fear in death? Even if I go to Hell..."
Her voice paused as she sidelong nced behind Chu Yu, a smirk deepening on her lips as she caught sight of the already triumphant Luo Jiner. Her blood-covered face resembled a ghost straight from Hell!
"Even if I go to Hell, I will surely turn into a vengeful ghost, dragging this adulterous couple down to Hell with me!"
Luo Jiner''s proud expression suddenly changed, and pretending to be terrified, she clutched Chu Yu''s arm, her voice trembling, "Marquis... Madam, has Madam gone mad?"
"Madwoman!"
Chu Yu, too, was disturbed by her appearance.
This woman should be kneeling on the ground begging him for mercy; why was she disying such a fearless demeanor?!
He disgustingly pulled back his hand and took a handkerchief from a maid to wipe his palm.
"Cough, cough..."
Shao He, thrown onto the ground, felt waves of intense pain ripple through her already frail body.
Her body shrank from the pain.
Chu Yu threw the handkerchief on her, and looking down at her pathetic state coldly, his voice as cold as ice, "Letting you die would be too easy; a vicious woman like you deserves to suffer immensely before death."
As soon as he spoke, his thin lips curved slightly.
"I''ll have you and your seed taken to Mass Burial Mound, where, I heard, dense forests abound and every night after midnight, the sound of wolves howling and Ghosts wailing can be heard..."
"Oh, right, I forgot to tell you, there are Ghosts there; do you know what Ghosts are?"
Shao He did not speak.
Ghosts?
Ha, as terrifying and fearsome as ghosts can be, they could never be more heartless and cruel than human beings.
Seeing that Shao He''s face remained impassive, a sudden deepening shadow crossed Chu Yu''s eyes.
His lips pressed downward as he said in a deep voice, "Ghosts are the ones who, by chance, did not die in Mass Burial Mound and feed on corpses; Shao He... you and your seed should be buried in Mass Burial Mound!"
"No, Marquis, please don''t do this!"
Luo Jiner''s anxious voice rose immediately.
She looked up at Chu Yu, panic and fear in her eyes as she pleaded softly, "Regardless of what Madam has done, please forgive her, Marquis. Madam was merely too concerned for you."
"Jiner, even now you plea for her,"
Chu Yu looked down at Luo Jiner, his eyes dark with intense affection, "But the more you do this, the more she deserves to die!"
With that, he turned away without looking back, leaving only a coldmand, "Take this woman and her child, throw them both into Mass Burial Mound!"
Shit!
Shao He''s pupils dted as she cursed under her breath.
A perfect match of scoundrels! One feigns pity, the other thinks himself deeply sentimental!
If she was going to die, she would drag this damned couple to Hell with her!
Before her thoughts settled, Shao He felt a wave of dizziness, and all her consciousness dissipated in an instant.
...
"Ahh..."
"Wah¡ª"
In the depths of the dense forest, the silver moonlight fell upon the branches and leaves.
The sound of crow''s cawing and a child''s wailing continued, apanied by a stench that invaded the nostrils.
Dappled shadows fell on a pile of bones that had already dposed at Mass Burial Mound.
"Hmm..."
Next to a heap of bones, Shao He, covered in blood, suddenly opened her eyes and sat up from the ground!
"Wah¡ªwah¡ª"
The child''s crying immediately drew her attention.
With her wounds still throbbing in pain, Shao He had no time to worry about it.
She hurriedly reached over and picked up the child beside her, her voice weaklyforting,
"Mother is here, don''t cry, don''t cry."
The child''s cries became weaker and weaker.
Even with a strong life force, after all, it was just a child...
Shao He''s blood-stained brow furrowed, and she intended to lift her torn clothes to breastfeed the child, but her body was so weakened that she had not a drop of milk.
"Whimper..."
Unable to suckle, the child''s face turned blue and purple from crying.
Seeing this, Shao He hardened her heart, put her middle finger in her mouth and bit down hard with her teeth!
Chapter 6 - 6 The Child Actually Survived?
Chapter 6: Chapter 6 The Child Actually Survived?
"Hmm." Shao He cast a detached nce at him and then his gaze fell on the child, who was cradled by a woman and had a deep gash across his abdomen, his intestines already exposed.
"I can save this child," she dered.
"You can save him?"
Upon hearing this, disbelief washed over the man''s face. Then he cautioned, "Miss, the child has fallen on a de, the wound in his belly is so deep that his intestines are spilling out. You..."
"If I say I can save him, I can save him."
Shao He stepped forward and looked down at the infant in the swaddling clothes, carefully parting the clothing around him to examine the wound closely.
"I will need a clean room and some candles, and prepare some bandages as well."
The rest, I will have in the system.
"Miss, this child is beyond saving, you..."
Shao He''s eyes shed with sternness, "Keep dithering and this child truly will be beyond saving!"
On hearing this, the woman''s pale face suddenly flushed with excitement.
She moved forward, ignoring her bloodstained knees, and began to kowtow vigorously on the ground with the child in her arms!
"Doctor! I beg you! Please let thisdy try!"
The man''s fists, resting on the table, clenched and unclenched.
After a long moment, he finally stood up, and as he passed Shao He, he sighed softly, "Very well,e with me."
Seeing this, Shao He followed the man into a small room.
Once everything was prepared, the man''s gentle eyes grew serious.
"Miss, may I stay and observe?" he asked.
No sooner had the words left his mouth than he felt it amiss and hastily added, "Or I could assist you if need be."
Assist her?
Shao He nced sideways at him.
No doubt he feared her medical skills weren''t refined and that she might dissipate the child''s remaining breath.
"Alright."
Shao He chuckled lightly, not calling out his concern, simply handing the child she carried over to him, "Since you wish to stay, then help me by holding the child."
No sooner had she spoken, a thought flickered through her mind.
A sharp surgical knife suddenly appeared in her palm, and then she deepened the wound on the child''s abdomen even more!
"Miss, you!"
The man''s eyes widened in shock, toote to ponder when exactly the dagger in Shao He''s hand had appeared!
But Shao He didn''t turn to look at him.
The child''s intestines were already exposed, and a part of them had even ruptured!
Shao He''s eyes narrowed with resolve, the dagger in her palm vanishing instantaneously to be reced by an anesthetic, a silver needle, and the thread that appeared in her hand!
After administering the anesthetic to the child, she threaded the needle with fine string, speeding through the task of stitching the flesh of his abdomen!
The man by her side''s eyes bulged, and even his other hand clutched suddenly tight by his side.
This woman was intent on suturing the child''s belly closed!
It was preposterous!
"No!"
He quickly stepped forward, grabbing Shao He''s wrist, "Miss, please, stop tormenting..."
"Wipe the blood."
Shao He''s voice came curtly, cutting off his words. She nced at him, saying, "Wipe while holding my child steady. No more talking."
The words the man wanted to say stuck in his throat.
After a moment of inner conflict, he finally followed Shao He''s instructions, meticulously wiping away the spreading blood from the child''s open belly.
When the surgery waspleted, Shao He drew out a gauze from the system to wrap the child''s wound. Then she wiped the sweat from her forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hand the child to me," she said, turning to extend her hand to the man.
"You..."

His voice quavering, the man was at a loss for words.
"My child! How is my child?!"
Just then, the woman''s anxious voice arose from outside the screen.
The man was startled, hastily moving his fingers to feel the pulse on the child''s wrist.
Yet the moment he detected a faint beating between his fingers, his pupils dted with shock!
"The child?!" his heart pounded fiercely.
The child was actually alive?!
Chapter 7 - 7 That would be troublesome
Chapter 7: Chapter 7 That would be troublesome
After a long while.
Merely returning the intestines back into the abdomen, then using needle and thread to fix and stitch up the child''s belly, was this really enough to save the child?!
"Come in."
Shao He did not attend to his astonishment but simply moved the screen aside with her hand.
"My child!"
The woman rushed into the small room in a hurry.
Her steps were somewhat faltering, but upon seeing her child with the abdomen stitched up, her legs softened, and she suddenly fell to her knees!
"Thank you, Miss! Thank you, Doctor!" She cried tears of joy, kowtowing several times forcefully, until her forehead was bleeding from the impact.
"There''s no need for such formalities."
Shao He cradled the child in her arms while helping the woman to her feet with the other hand.
"Though the child has been saved, he still needs to remain here for observation."
"Yes! Yes!" The woman nodded hurriedly and, trembling, took a pouch of copper coins from her bosom, "This is the fee for the consultation, please Miss, you must ept it."
@@novelbin@@
"Hmm." Shao He, without ceremony, took the consultation fee and tossed it into the man''s embrace.
The man subconsciously caught the fee, yet was somewhat perplexed, "The child was saved by Miss, the consultation fee should be for..."
"Keep it." Before the man could finish speaking, Shao He interrupted with a cold voice.
"This money is to thank you for taking in me and my childst night, and the remainder is for you to acquire some medicinal herbs for this child." After saying this, she looked around until she spotted a small cab in the corner with ink brushes and paper, then stepped forward, wrote down a prescription, and handed it to the man.
"Use the money to obtain these medicines. Although the child is no longer in immediate danger, continuing treatment with medicine is necessary to truly ensure his survival."
The man''s gentle eyes momentarily stilled, then took on a touch ofplexity.
"Miss..." the woman cautiously lowered her head, "may I stay to take care of Yeye? I am afraid that he..."
"Of course you may."
Shao He walked outside cradling the child, "During these days, do not let the child catch cold, administer the medicine daily three times without fail. If the child develops a fever, just call for me."
"Miss, wait!" Just as Shao He was about to step past the screen, the man suddenly spoke up.
He held his fists in front of him and bowed slightly toward Shao He, his gentle face now quite serious.
"I am Yun Qian. Miss''s medical skills are so profound; may I ask who was your teacher?"
Who was my teacher?
That naturally couldn''t be said.
Shao He slightly lowered her phoenix eyes, glossing over the question.
"My master does not like publicity. When Ipleted my apprenticeship, he had already reminded me not to publicize his name to others."
"Wow¡ª"
No sooner had Shao He finished speaking than the child in her arms suddenly burst into loud crying.
Sensing that the child''s crying was growing weaker, Shao He''s brows involuntarily knitted together.
With her other unupied hand, she felt around at her waist, but found nothing.
Only when the corner of her eye caught a glimpse of a gold ring on her little finger did she vaguely remember that the ring seemed to be the only dowry she had retained when married into the Marquis''s Mansion.
"Here, take this."
She slipped off the ring and handed it to Yun Qian, "Please buy some cow''s milk for me."
She was weak and had hardly any breast milk. If she were to let the child remain hungry, he probably wouldn''tst through the night.
Yun Qian, however, shook his head and stepped back.
"Miss has already given me a bag of copper coins. Even though it''s for the child''s medicine, there will inevitably be some left over. I suppose Miss is worried the child won''t be well-fed? My medical skills may not be as profound as Miss''s, but I do know some effective remedies."
His voice trailed off, and Yun Qian''s cheeks suddenly flushed with a hint of red, "I can prepare some gctagogue for Miss..."
"In that case, I''ll be troubling you."
Chapter 9 - 9 When to Heal
Chapter 9: Chapter 9 When to Heal
Just when Shao He felt a chill in her heart, the child resting in the chair suddenly began to cry again.
"Don''t cry, baby." Shao He picked up the child, and her icy heart was enveloped by the child''s cries at this moment.
The chill in her eyes, too, seemed to glow in the candlelight.
"Mother will stay with you," she said hoarsely, "We mother and child will never be crushed by adversity; as long as I''m here, I can ensure you stay out of harm''s way..."
Yun Qian beside her came to a slight pause.
Watching Shao He''s gentle profile illuminated by the candlelight, he started to speak again, "Miss, what are your ns moving forward?
Shao He''s pale lips were tightly pressed together as she bowed slightly towards him with the child in her arms.
"Miss, you needn''t do this!"
Yun Qian quickly raised his hand, intending to help Shao He back to her feet.
But Shao He looked up at him with determination in her eyes.
"You''ve seen my medical skills. If I agree to stay and provide free consultations for a month, would you let my child and I stay here?"
At her words, Yun Qian''s pupils abruptly shrank!
"Naturally, I am willing!"
His tone was trembling with excitement.
"There''s no need for free services! Your medical skills are so exquisite, Miss, having you stay here is a blessing for the people here! I can pay you ten pieces of silver per month, and I will also cover all your living expenses. Would you be willing to ept?"
"Alright," Shao He felt warmth in her heart, yet her face showed no change.
Yun Qian had already guessed her identity, and now he was still willing to take the risk of offending the Marquis''s Mansion to let her stay. She would naturally remember this kindness in her heart.
...
Three days passed in session.
During these days, Shao He personally attended to patients in the clinic.
Her medical expertise was profound, and over these three days, many people from other towns and viges came seeking her reputation.
On this day, the people formed a long queue, and Shao He looked down as she diagnosed them.
"Next."
She handed the prescription to the patient she had just seen.
A man in coarse clothing was pushed in front of her.
The man had a mask on his face that muffled his voice, and Shao He could not see his true features when she looked up.
However, as soon as the man spoke, Shao He couldn''t help but frown slightly.
"I heard that Miss is skilled in medicine. I wonder if you might cure my legs?"
Shao He did not reply but cast a nce at the man''s legs, then lifted her gaze to the masked man and asked, "Your voice sounds somewhat familiar to me. Could we have met before?"
Pei Huaian''s mouth curved slightly, his deep and maic voice slowly rising as his eyes focused intently on Shao He.
"I have no recollection."
Upon hearing this, Shao He thought to herself that his voice indeed sounded vaguely familiar, but then again, she saw over a hundred patients a day; it was normal to mistake someone, so she did not dwell on it.
Seeing that she did not persist, Pei Huaian extended his hand towards her, "In that case, I''ll trouble Miss to have a look."
Shao He nodded and ced her hand over his pulse. After a moment, her expression turned grave.
"Your condition..."
"What about it?"
Seeing her hesitation, Pei Huaian couldn''t help but press for an answer. He had grown ustomed to his chronic leg illness over the years; it didn''t matter to him whether it could be cured or not; he just wanted toe and see for himself.
"Do your legs feel excruciating pain that is hard to bear whenever it rains, like countless silver needles pricking your knees?"
A look of surprise shed through Pei Huaian''s eyes, and he suppressed the astonishment welling up in him, "Miss is truly a skilled doctor, able to discern so much from my pulse and symptoms."
Shao Heughed lightly, "You tter me, sir; I only know a little."
Pei Huaian, faced with her modest words, shook his head with a smile, "If you can diagnose the illness in my legs with just a brief examination of my pulse, I''m afraid you won''t find a better doctor than you in the entire Capital City."
"Hehe..."
Shao He chuckled softly, not letting the praise get to her head; after all, she considered such a minor ability to be insignificant.
"Now that Miss is aware of my condition, when can the treatment begin?" The smile on Pei Huaian''s lips never faded, in fact, it only widened.@@novelbin@@

"Then you go to the back hall first and wait for me. Once I finish up here, I''ll start treating you," Shao He nced at the people still lining up behind, as she could not just leave these patients unattended.
"Alright."
The attendant pushed him to the back hall, a bit worried, and said, "My lord, it''s better not to take risks. What if her medical skills are really not refined, and she fails to cure your leg ailment, what then if the treatment worsens?"
Pei Huaian looked at his immovable legs and whispered softly, "Trying is always better than waiting to be disabled; what if she can cure it."
As time slowly passed, Shao He finally finished her work. She took out the acupuncture box from her space and began treating Pei Huaian.
Shao He lifted his robe and inserted silver needles about two inches below his knees, gently twirling them a few times, then switching to the other side...
Pei Huaian lowered his gaze, watching her serious demeanor, a faint smile ying on his lips.
Shao He looked up, meeting his cold gaze, and couldn''t help but ask, "You can tell from Young Master''s facial features that you''re not ugly; why always wear a mask?"
"My face was once burned, it''s frightening, I dare not show my true face," Pei Huaian brushed it off with an excuse.
Shao He did not inquire further, for it was another''s private matter.
About half a quarter of an hourter, Shao He pulled out the silver needles, and a flow of ck blood followed.
Pei Huaian nced at Shao He calmly and asked in a steady tone, "What is your name?"
"Shao He."
Pei Huaian noticed the strand of hair falling on her cheek, lifted his hand to tuck it behind her ear, but then thought better of the gesture and quietly lowered his hand again.
Shao He retracted her silver needles using her thought, stood up, and said, "Today''s treatment will stop here. Return in seven days."
"Alright."
With a look from Pei Huaian, the guard behind him brought out a bag of silver and handed it over.
"This is my consultation fee, please ept it, Miss," he said.
Shao He weighed the silver in her hand, her lips curling into a smile as she assessed the two before her.
Although they were dressed in humble attire, their generosity was not, indicating wealth or nobility.
"All right, then I''ll ept without any scruples," Shao He had her suspicions about their identities, but she always operated for money and would not pry further.
Once Shao He had moved away, the attendant who had been standing by cautiously asked, "My lord, do you really trust this female doctor?"
Pei Huaian looked coldly at him, frightening the attendant who immediately knelt and admitted his mistake.
Pei Huaian shifted his gaze, speaking indifferently, "It doesn''t matter whether she can cure my leg ailment."
"My lord..."
"Enough!" Pei Huaian cut him off, "Do not repeat this mistake next time!"
"Yes, yes, I understand my mistake, I won''t dare again," the attendant wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"My lord, you..."
"It''s fine!" Pei Huaian waved his hand and turned to walk back.
"My lord is too lenient with Doctor Shao," the attendant followed behind muttering inadvertently.
The lord''s reaction just now clearly showed he was very interested in her, how could he be so careless!
Pei Huaian turned his head, looking at him coldly, "Are you questioning my decision?"
"Dare not!" the attendant quickly bowed his head, "I am only concerned about my lord''s health, given those quacks..."
"Get out!"
"Yes, yes, I will take my leave," the attendant replied quickly.
The attendant hastened his pace to leave, fearing Pei Huaian might suddenly change his mind, but just as he reached the doorway, he suddenly realized, "Wait, the lord is still inside!"

Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Someone Seeks Medical Help
The guards hurried back again, pushing Pei Huaian away.
Leaning against the door, Shao He tossed and caught the silver in her hand, uncertain whether saving this man was right or wrong.
Forget it, nobody would quarrel with silver, besides, what she and her childcked now was silver.
"He''s awake, he''s awake."
A voice pulled Shao He out of her reverie and she looked up to see one of the doorways being opened.
A woman ran over, pointing excitedly into the room, "Doctor, my son, my son is awake."
Shao He collected her thoughts, nodded at the woman, and followed her into the house.
Behind the screen, the little boy on the bed weakly opened his eyes and looked around the unfamiliar surroundings, blinking in confusion.
"My child, my child!" cried the woman, copsing to her knees and sobbing as she held her son.
The little boy froze, distressed to see his mother so upset, he tried to raise his arms to hug her but couldn''t lift them.
"Mom, it hurts."
The woman dried her tears and looked up into her son''s worried eyes, nodding with a smile, "Oh my child, you''ve finally woken up, you scared me to death."
Shao He pulled her back, admonishing, "Be careful, don''t touch his wound."
"Right, got so excited I forgot about that," the woman quickly stood up and stepped aside so Shao He could examine her son''s wounds.
Seeing this, the little boyy obediently, letting Shao He tend to his wounds, not crying out in pain from start to finish.
Shao He closed her eyes, and when she opened them, she held a bottle of disinfectant and cotton swabs, applying them gently to the wound on his abdomen.
The little boy looked up at the beautiful sister before him, enduring the pain, he asked, "Pretty sister, am I going to die?"
"No."
The little boy suddenly looked up at her, unsure whether he had heard her correctly.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Shao He put away the items in her hand and turned to face the mother, filled with worry, "He''s out of danger, but he needs to stay for two more days so I can handle any unexpected issues promptly."
Relieved, the woman said with immense gratitude, "Okay, thank you, thank you for saving my son."
"You''re an angel!" At the end, the woman knelt down, not knowing how else to express her gratitude.
Shao He reached out to help her up, "No need to thank me, it wasn''t his time to go. In the next few days, make sure he doesn''t stretch the wound or get it wet."
After giving instructions, she turned and walked out of the room.
Two dayster, the little boy''s wounds had healed nicely, and the woman prepared to take him home.
Before leaving, the woman had the little boy kneel down and kowtow to Shao He, promising to find a way to repay her someday.
Shao He smiled and escorted the little boy to the door, waving goodbye as they left.
The little boy''s mother was a simple and unadorned peasant woman with an ordinary figure and in looks.

Sitting the little boy on a donkey cart, the boy leaned on her shoulder and stealthily looked back at Shao He until the carriage vanished from sight.
Just as Shao He was about to return to the shop, a carriage stopped in front of her.
The curtain was lifted, and a maid helped a cloaked woman down from the carriage. Seeing Shao He standing there, she paused in surprise.
"Are you the Female Doctor?"
"Yes." Shao He nodded.
The two followed Shao He into the clinic, and upon seeing others waiting, the maid whispered, "Could you give our young mistress a private consultation?"
"Sure, go wait in the rear hall for a moment," Shao He said before turning to leave.
After dealing with thest patient, Shao He stood up and walked to the rear courtyard''s examining room.
The woman sat poised in a chair, Shao He took a pulse pillow from the cab, ced it on the table, and extended her right hand, gesturing for the woman to extend hers.
Laying her hands on the pulse pillow, the woman quietly watched Shao He through her cloak.
Shao He remained impassive, focusing intently on taking the pulse.

Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Can You Really Cure My Illness?
Shortly, Shao He withdrew her wrist and looked up at the woman.
The woman simrly sized up Shao He, a face unremarkable, but her eyes were very clear and bright, like the pure, flowing spring waters in the mountains.
The woman slightly parted her lips, "I heard that you are skilled in treatingplex and varied diseases?"
"I know a bit, have your periods evere?" Shao He had noticed that her body was rather weak during the pulse diagnosis, likely due to taking arge amount of medication to replenish her qi and blood.
The woman pursed her lips and remained silent, seemingly contemting. This matter was somewhat difficult for her to speak about.
Shao He looked up, unable to see the woman''s face under the cloak, and spoke to counsel her, "You should understand the principle of not concealing an illness from the doctor. If you don''t even wish to speak about your symptoms, how can I treat you?"
"Miss, I think this Female Doctor is very skilled. Just speak up," urged the young maid behind her.
Seeing the person who remained silent, just as the young maid was about to continue persuading, she heard her mistress say, "I...I have never had a period, never had one."
"So, you must have taken a lot of medicine?" Shao He asked with a frown.
"Yes." The woman nodded.
"Then, do you know why your body is bing weaker and weaker?"
"Taking too many medications..." The woman recalled those several doses of bitter herbal medicine and slightly curled her lips with a bitter expression.
Shao He pondered momentarily before speaking again, "Observing your pulse, I discovered that your liver and spleen are severely damaged. You need gradual recuperation and must avoid taking an excessive amount of tonic medications."
Upon hearing this, the woman showed a surprised expression, "Then, this illness of mine..."
"The reason for your missed periods could be congenital amenorrhea, severe closure of the hymen, uterine malformation, congenital absence of a uterus, among others. The specific cause can only be determined through further examination."
"Further examination?"
The woman felt both surprised and apprehensive, unsure how to proceed with further examinations, especially since she didn''t understand any of the terms the Female Doctor mentioned.
Shao He nodded with a smile, "It requires you to take off your trousers for the examination. If you trust me, I will do my best to diagnose and treat you."
"What!" The woman stood up abruptly, looking shockingly at the calm person opposite her.
"If you don''t take off your trousers for the examination, I cannot determine what exactly is causing your missed periods, and I won''t know how to treat you."
Although the young maid also found it somewhat inappropriate, thinking of the long-standing grievances her mistress had suffered, she tugged at her sleeve and whispered, "Miss, this is our only hope. Perhaps she can truly cure your condition."
After hesitating for a moment, the woman lightly bit her lip and finally nodded, taking a deep breath as if gathering courage, "Doctor, please treat me!"
"Rest assured, Miss, I will do my utmost!"
After Shao He finished speaking, she stood up and had the woman lie on the bed. She sent the maid to wait outside, not wanting her ability to seemingly conjure items out of thin air to be known yet.

She took off her gloves, and the item in her hand instantly disappeared.
"You have a hymenal closure. Surgery is required, which might be somewhat painful. I need to ask for your opinion."
This type of surgery was quiteplex, and for conservative societies of ancient times, undergoing such surgery might be hard to ept, but the patient had the right to know the entire procedure, and she couldn''t conceal it.

The woman seemed to scarcely believe what she was hearing, not expecting that her chronic illness of many years might still have a chance to be cured.
"I need to cut your hymen, drain the umted blood, trim the edges of the hymen, and suture the incision. Can you ept this treatment process?" Shao He felt it was best to rify these matters before the surgery to avoid unnecessary trouble.
The woman was astonished that she could truly be cured of her terminal illness, but she found the described treatment process somewhat hard to ept.
Understanding her dilemma, Shao He stood up and said, "Take your time to think about it, I''ll go out and see other patients."
Once Shao He left and began her consultations, the crowd surged forward, keeping her so busy that she barely had time for herself.
It wasn''t until thest patient came over that she asked without looking up, "What''s wrong with you?"
"My leg."
At the sound of the familiar voice, she looked up and saw a man wearing a mask, her eyes revealing a surprised expression.
"Why have youe? Didn''t I tell you toe back after seven days? It hasn''t been seven days yet, is your leg ufortable?" Shao He stood up and walked towards him, asking as she moved.
"Hmm."
Shao He stopped in her tracks, her brows slightly furrowed.
That shouldn''t be right?
She had already drained the blood stasis from the masked man''s body, his leg shouldn''t be causing him issues these days.
Shao He knelt down to examine his robe and found no apparent issues.
"There''s nothing wrong. What''s making your leg ufortable?"
"It feels better now," Pei Huaian said, his expression unchanged.
Shao He was baffled by his act but didn''t dwell on it, returning to her chair to start writing prescriptions.
Pei Huaian showed no intention of leaving. Observing the elegant handwriting on the paper, he asked, "Seeing that you are young yet so skilled in medicine, did you start learning from a young age?"
"Mm," Shao He responded indifferently without raising her head.

He had never heard that the Imperial Censor''s daughter practiced medicine from childhood...
After finishing thest prescription, Shao He put down her pen, ready to rest and check on the child. Turning around, she entered the inner hall and fetched the baby.
Yet, upon looking up, she saw the masked man who hadn''t left, and the infant in her arms surprised her by grinning at him, drool trickling down from the corner of his mouth.
A strange feeling welled up inside her, and Shao He frowned at him for a long while.
Pei Huaian, feeling the intensity of her gaze, met it directly with his deep eyes, wheeled over with a smile, and said, "It seems I really have a connection with this child."
"This little guy rarely smiles at anyone."
Shao He couldn''t understand why the baby in her arms liked this masked man so much; it had been his intervention that stopped the baby from cryingst time, and now he was grinning at him.
The masked man raised his hand, wanting to caress the cheek but hesitated, fearing he might hurt the infant with his touch.
"This child is really adorable," Pei Huaian said with a doting tone.

Why did he seem like a different person?
And furthermore, his master''s leg wasn''t really ufortable, so whye here for treatment?
This tender scene was interrupted by the arrival of Yun Qian, who approached Shao He and said, "Miss, I couldn''t buy the cow''s milk. I heard that a concubine of a local gentry had just given birth and bought up all the milk. I can only try to procure some from the city tomorrow."
Seemingly aware of theck of food, the baby in her arms suddenly burst into loud crying.
With no other choice, Shao He had to ask a shop assistant to prepare some millet porridge for the child to drink; it was better than letting the baby go hungry.
As the millet porridge was brought over, Shao He coaxed the child to drink, but a newborn could hardly be ustomed to millet porridge. The baby spit it out with his tongue and then broke into heart-wrenching sobs.
Pei Huaian''s handsome brows furrowed tightly, his hands clenching slowly on his wheelchair as he watched the child cry.
He quietly left, instructing his guard to purchase some cow''s milk and bring it over.
"Master, you... I''ll get right on it," the guard said, bowing his head under the stern gaze, not daring to ask further questions and only doing asmanded.

When he arrived at the pharmacy with the milk, Shao He was shocked to see the items on the table.
Her gaze shifted to Yun Qian. Hadn¡¯t it been said that milk was no longer avable? So what was this?
¡°May I ask where you purchased this milk?¡± Yun Qian was also surprised.
The guard did not answer Yun Qian¡¯s question, but instead turned to Shao He, delivering his master¡¯s message verbatim.
¡°This is a gift from my master. Firstly, as a consultation fee, and secondly, my master feels a particr affinity with this child.¡±
Shao He was not pretentious; the milk was precisely what the child needed. She nodded slightly and said, ¡°Please convey my thanks to your master for his kindness. Consider it a prepayment of the consultation fee.¡±
The guard bowed and departed, repeating her words when he returned, feeling like a carrier pigeon.
Pei Huaian, upon hearing this, had a faint smile on his lips.
The night was pitch-ck, with not a single light visible from hand.
A cold breeze blew through the air, chilling one¡¯s heart.
After coaxing the child to sleep, Shao He came alone to the pavilion, leaning against a pir and gazing into the dark night sky.
She didn¡¯t know why she hade here, nor did she know what path to take in the future.
If she were alone, it would have been simpler, but now with a child, her first priority was to find a way to provide for the child.
Furthermore, remaining here would also bring unnecessary trouble to Yun Qian, but with the child¡¯s age andck of household registration, it was difficult to make any move.
¡°Miss Shao?¡±
A gentle voice came from behind her.
Shao He came back to her senses, turned around, and asked the approaching figure, ¡°You haven¡¯t gone to bed yet, thiste?¡±
Yun Qian stood under the moonlight in a dark robe, his face adorned with a gentle smile, as if he had just stepped out of the moonlight.
Yun Qian then revealed a faint smile, ¡°Isn¡¯t Miss Shao also awake?¡±
The two sat down for a casual chat. Seeing her about to leave, Yun Qian couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Does Miss Shao have any ns for the future?¡±
¡°I haven¡¯t decided yet.¡±
Shao He was still thinking about taking revenge on that couple and also wanted to leave Capital City, a ce of strife. At the moment, she felt utterly lost, unsure of where to go.
Yun Qian had wanted to ask her to stay, but as the words reached his lips, he felt it too abrupt and looked down as he watched her receding figure.
The next morning, soon after the store opened, ady, apanied by her daughter, entered.
Shao He immediately recognized the daughter wearing a straw hat; it was the same girl who hade for treatment yesterday. She led them straight to the guest room in the backyard.
After some conversation, it was revealed that the girl was Jhiang Yijia, the daughter of the Minister of the Household, and the woman apanying her was her mother, Lady Jhiang.
Lady Jhiang, after hearing her servant¡¯s words from the previous day and knowing her daughter¡¯s ailment could be cured, excitedly brought her daughter over once again.
¡°Doctor, may I ask, to what extent can you treat my condition?¡± Jhiang Yijia asked shyly.
Hearing her daughter¡¯s indirect query, Lady Jhiang added, ¡°That is, after the treatment, will she be able to marry and have children normally?¡±
¡°Of course,¡± Shao He nodded under their hopeful gazes.
¡°Mother, I can, I can¡¡±

¡°You can marry and have children normally, my daughter won¡¯t have to endure others¡¯ strange looks anymore,¡± Lady Jhiang said.
Mother and daughter embraced each other and began to cry. For so many years, they had searched for countless renowned doctors and consumed countless remedies to no avail.
Now, atst, they saw hope!
¡°Prepare yourselves; we can perform the surgery at any time,¡± Shao He interjected, breaking into their emotional moment.
¡°Can it be done today?¡± Jhiang Yijia asked cautiously.
¡°No problem. As long as you¡¯re ready, I can start anytime.¡±
Jhiang Yijia stood up, removed the straw hat from her head, and revealed her delicate features.
¡°I am ready.¡±
¡°Please, Lady Jhiang step out and wait. There can¡¯t be any mistakes during the surgery, and no one else can be present.¡±

Shao He directly asked Lady Jhiang to step outside and closed the door behind her, isting all sounds from the room.
As Jhiang Yijia settled on the bed, she took a deep breath and nodded towards Shao He, ¡°Thank you for the trouble.¡±
Shao He instructed her to remove her clothing and covered her upper body with a nket.
She concentrated her mind on the items she needed, and soon anesthesia and gloves materialized in her hands, which she carried as she stepped towards Jhiang Yijia.
Jhiang Yijia kept her eyes tightly closed, her pale face expressing nervousness, her fists clenched, andrge beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
Once anesthetized, the patient instantly rxed, feeling light and airy as if in a dream.
After a quarter of an hour, Shao He finallypleted the surgery sessfully, lifted her arm to wipe away the dense sweat on her forehead and breathed a deep sigh of relief.
She sat weakly in the chair, poured a cup of tea, and drank it in one gulp.
After a short respite, she opened the room¡¯s door.
¡°How is my daughter?¡±
¡°The surgery was very sessful but she needs to be observed here for a week to ensure her body recovers normally before she can leave.¡±
¡°That¡¯s wonderful, thank you. You are our Jhiang family¡¯s great benefactor!¡±
¡°Whatever you ask for, we will do our best to satisfy!¡± Lady Jhiang didn¡¯t know how else to express her gratitude.
Shao He gestured with her hand that there was no need for thanks. At this moment, she was so drained that she could hardly stand and had to lean against the doorframe to rest.
After all, this wasn¡¯t the modern era, and the medical conditions were not that great, so she had to be extra careful when treating the wound and performing the surgery.
Avoiding cross-infection was crucial, and having no one to assist, she had to staypletely focused.
This body was still too weak and needed proper exercise to strengthen.

Lady Jhiang entered the room and saw her daughter who had awakened, she joyfully took her hand, ¡°It¡¯s okay now, the doctor said the surgery was very sessful!¡±
¡°Really?¡±
As Jhiang Yijia thought about no longer being pointed at and discussed, a tear glistened at the corner of her eye.
¡°Of course it¡¯s true. With this, the marriage with the Fang Family can be scheduled. Fortunately, the Fangs are understanding. You are now twenty, and Fang Jue has been waiting for you for five or six years,¡± said Lady Jhiang, holding her daughter¡¯s hand and speaking earnestly.
Upon hearing this, Jhiang Yijia shyly turned her head away, ¡°Mother, there are still people here.¡±
Shao He stood leaning against the door, listening to the conversation between mother and daughter, and spoke up to remind them, ¡°Miss Jhiang still needs several months to recover.¡±
¡°No matter, preparations for the wedding also take time,¡± Lady Jhiang said with a smile brimming with joy.
Seeing this, Shao He decided not to disturb the two any longer; she had said what needed to be said, and whether they listened was up to the patient.
Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.
Old Madam Chu gently scraped her teacup and paused as she listened to Chu Yu¡¯s words.
¡°Are you sure you want to marry her?¡±
Luo Jiner sat respectfully in her chair, nervously clutching the fabric of her clothes, not daring to look up at Old Madam Chu.
¡°Yes, Grandmother, I want to marry Jiner as my principal wife,¡± said Chu Yu gently, taking Luo Jiner¡¯s hand that rested on herp.
¡°Do you understand what that entails?¡± Old Madam Chu asked severely.
Their Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion was no small household that could casually bring in any woman as the principal wife.
¡°I ask for Grandmother¡¯s blessing,¡± he pleaded.
Old Madam Chu set down her teacup heavily on the table, her face turning dark with anger as she scolded, ¡°Indeed, a lowly vixen haspletely bewitched my grandson!¡±
¡°Though the Imperial Censor¡¯s daughter isn¡¯t worthy of my grandson either, at least she could bear offspring for Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion. It¡¯s pitiable that my great-grandson died shortly after birth.¡±
¡°Grandmother!¡± Chu Yu called out with a frown.
He did not like it when someone brought up Shao He, as the thought of that woman filled him with disgust.
Old Madam Chu huffed coldly, ring at Luo Jiner, ¡°What, did I say something wrong?¡±
Chu Yu remained silent, his gaze lowered, while Luo Jiner felt ashamed and lowered her head.
Seeing their reaction, Old Madam Chu scoffed twice and continued her reprimand, ¡°Don¡¯t think that without Shao He, you can take the ce of the Lady Marquess of Pingnan. That position will never be yours.¡±
Old Madam Chu would never allow such a lowly person to take the position of the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan.
¡°Grandmother, Jiner and I truly love each other. Please give us your blessing,¡± Chu Yu looked imploringly at Old Madam Chu.

¡°Heh¡¡± Old Madam Chu scoffed with irony, her piercing eyes staring at Luo Jiner as she said, ¡°You wouldn¡¯t have killed Shao He and my great-grandson just to be with Chu Yu, would you?¡±
¡°No, it wasn¡¯t me, I didn¡¯t, I never thought aboutpeting with my sister for the Marquis, I just wanted to stay by the Marquis¡¯s side, being with him was enough for me.¡±
Luo Jiner¡¯s eyes reddened, and tears swirled in her eyes, her pitiable appearance evoking sympathy from others.

Chu Yu felt even more distressed and gently patted the back of her hand, exining, ¡°Grandmother, this has nothing to do with Jiner, it was that woman¡¯s own bad fate, it¡¯s not someone else¡¯s fault.¡±
¡°Smack¡¡±
Old Madam Chu directly smashed her cup to the ground, shouting angrily, ¡°You insolent thing, how dare you speak to your elder like this, have you no respect for the heavens?¡±
Luo Jiner raised her hand to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes and knelt on the ground to apologize.
¡°I¡¯m sorry, Old Madam, I shouldn¡¯t have angered you, it¡¯s all my fault, it¡¯s all my fault, you can beat or scold Jiner and I will have noints.¡±
Old Madam Chu was so infuriated by her act that she pointed to the door and cursed, ¡°Get out, I don¡¯t want to see you anymore.¡±
When Chu Yu saw the woman he loved kneeling on the ground, tears falling one by one, he felt an immense heartache and hurriedly spoke up in her defense, ¡°Grandmother, Shao He was unfaithful, shameless, how can you me everything on Jiner?¡±
Old Madam Chu became even more disgusted with Luo Jiner upon seeing how Chu Yu defended her.
Old Madam Chu calmed down and a cold smile hooked at the corner of her lips, ¡°If you like her that much, I shall not stand in the way.¡±
She understood very well what Chu Yu was like; once he was set on something, no one could change his mind, and if she tried to forcefully stop him, it would likely backfire.
Luo Jiner immediately cheered up upon hearing Old Madam Chu relent.
Before they could finish rejoicing, Old Madam Chu sipped her tea and continued, ¡°Then let her be your chambermaid, since she doesn¡¯t care about status and only wants to be by your side.¡±
These words struck Luo Jiner and Chu Yu like a bolt from the blue.
A chambermaid?
Luo Jiner¡¯s eyes widened in shock, unable to believe what she was hearing.
¡°Grand¡ Grandmother, that¡¯s not eptable,¡± Chu Yu immediately objected.
A chambermaid was the lowest of the low; if Jiner really became his chambermaid, wouldn¡¯t she be mocked by the entire Chu Mansion?
¡°Hmph, you have no say in this!¡± Old Madam Chu left in a huff after speaking, not giving him a chance to speak.
¡°Grandmother,¡± Chu Yu roared in anger.
Seeing this, Luo Jiner sensed trouble and quickly grabbed Chu Yu¡¯s sleeve, speaking in a weak and pitiable voice, ¡°Marquis, I am willing to be a chambermaid, but please don¡¯t be angry with Grandmother.¡±
Upon hearing this, Chu Yu clenched his fists in anguish and growled through clenched teeth, ¡°Damn that Shao He, I must have been blind to marry her!¡±
Luo Jiner hugged the furious man and pleaded, ¡°Grandmother seems to really like the child that the wife bore; every time she mentions the child, she can¡¯t help but sigh.¡±
A thought urred to Chu Yu when he heard this.
Since Grandmother liked the child so much, perhaps if Jiner bore a son, Grandmother could ept her. But then he remembered, Jiner had injured herself saving him and might have difficulties conceiving again.
¡°I¡¯ve wronged you, you¡¯ve given so much, yet you can¡¯t even have the position of a legal wife, but I, the Marquis, will not fail you.¡±
Chu Yu resolved to find a doctor for her, determined to heal Jiner¡¯s ailment no matter what.
¡°It¡¯s all Jiner¡¯s fault, Jiner¡¯s no good, for not being able to give birth to a son for the Marquis sooner,¡± Luo Jiner said with downcast eyes and in a soft voice.
¡°It is I, the Marquis, who is ipetent for not making you the legal wife, I will find the best doctor to heal you, to restore your health,¡± he said.
At his words, Luo Jiner¡¯s lips curled into a gentle, sweet smile, and a triumphant smirk flitted across the bottom of her eyes.

Chapter 21: Chapter 21 What¡¯s going on?
The guard was just about to push him inside when he saw his master¡¯s gaze and immediately let go, standing guard outside the door.
Shao He lit the candle, and the room instantly brightened up. Only then did she notice that something seemed off about this man, as there was a strong smell of blood on him.
¡°You are injured.¡±
These words were not a question, but a statement.
¡°Could you bandage me?¡± Pei Huaian asked weakly.
¡°Sure.¡± Shao He nodded, turned around to take the golden sore medicine from the cab, and found some gauze to hand to him.
¡°Wait a moment.¡±
After finishing speaking, she went to the kitchen to fetch some hot water, preparing to clean his wound, and then took some disinfectant from a mental space.
Pei Huaian¡¯s gaze fell on those pale, delicate hands, a trace of darkness flickered in his eyes, but when he lifted his face, it had returned to a calm and unrippled expression.
¡°Take off your clothes.¡± Shao He was preparing, giving orders to the neatly dressed man.
Pei Huaian slowly lifted his arm, an action that seemed to take a great deal of effort.
Unable to stand watching, Shao He went over, unfastened his belt, peeled back his clothes, and gazed at the pale skin, the fine corbone, her eyes inadvertently drifting downward.
Looking at the eight-pack abs on his abdomen, she couldn¡¯t help but marvel that he truly was a beautiful man, though she wondered what his face looked like.
@@novelbin@@
¡°Have you looked enough?¡± Pei Huaian caught her infatuated gaze, understanding for the first time the use of having a good body.
Shao He concealed the expression in her eyes, checked his wounds, discovered they were sword cuts, wiped away the blood around, sprinkled golden sore medicine on the wounds, and wrapped them with bandages.
During the close contact, she suddenly smelled a faint scent of sandalwood on him, which blurred her memories of the original host. That night she was drugged and shared intimacy with a man, it seemed to be this scent too.
Remembering that the man had a birthmark on his waist, she was about to stretch out her hand to check his waist for it when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
¡°I can take care of the rest myself,¡± Pei Huaian said, his heartbeat elerating as he restrained himself, somewhat regretting his folly in wanting to meet her instead of seeking the mansion doctor to dress the wound.
Shao He withdrew her hand. Perhaps she was overthinking. How could a man in a wheelchair share a moment of passion with her? Even if he desired, he was powerless.
¡°Thank you.¡± Pei Huaian finished dressing, breathing a sigh of relief.
Shao He nodded, ¡°It¡¯s nothing, just lending a hand.¡±
After speaking, Shao He turned around and left.
¡°Miss Shao.¡±
She halted as a call came from behind her, turning her head to look at him.
Each time she saw those deep eyes, she feared she would fall into them.
¡°It must be very hard for you, raising a child alone, right?¡±
His tone was full of concern and worry.
¡°Hmm?¡± Shao He blinked, puzzled,
Pei Huaian lowered his gaze to hide the emotion in his eyes, and when he looked up again, his expression was cid,
¡°Never mind, just asking,¡± Pei Huaian pursed his lips, a fleetingplex look crossing his eyes.
As morning light streamed into the room, Shao He woke up to find Pei Huaian had vanished.
She did not mind, freshened up, and was ready to continue seeing patients.
Suddenly, the sound of gongs and drums came from outside, drawing many patients out to see themotion. Shao He also got up and followed them.
Outside, the sound of gongs and drums filled the air, firecrackers were popping, and two men were carrying a que towards them, followed by Lady Jhiang and Jhiang Yijia.
All along the way, many people turned to look.
What was going on?
Shao He frowned and looked over, recognizing the followers as Lady Jhiang and her daughter.
¡°Doctor Shao.¡± Lady Jhiang hurried over with her daughter.

Upon hearing this, Lady Jhiang immediately showed a smile, hurriedly quickened her steps to Shao He¡¯s side, and pointed to the que, ¡°We made this que especially for you, to thank you for healing my daughter¡¯s illness.¡±
Jhiang Yijia walked over and took her hand, her face full of gratitude, ¡°Thank you, Miss Shao, if it weren¡¯t for you, I might never have had the chance to marry and have children.¡±
Shao He gave a faint smile, ¡°Miss Jhiang is too kind, as a doctor this is my duty.¡±
Having said this, she turned her gaze to the que in between, which read ¡°Miraculous Healing¡± in fourrge characters.

Jhiang Yijia took out an invitation from her bosom and handed it to her, her tone sincere, ¡°Should you have any needs in the future, you can find me at the Ministry of Households¡¯ Vice Minister¡¯s Mansion.¡±
¡°Miss Jhiang, I¡¡± Shao He hesitated.
Lady Jhiang smiled from the side, ¡°Doctor Shao, don¡¯t decline any further, you saved my daughter¡¯s life, we will certainly help you with any needs you might have.¡±
Shao He held the handed-over invitation, feeling like she was holding a hot potato, and couldn¡¯t help but remember the previous warning the masked man had given her.
She promptly returned the invitation, ¡°It is only natural for a doctor to heal and save people, Lady Jhiang, Miss Jhiang Xiaoxue, you need not keep it in mind.¡±
She did not wish to have close rtions with these people of power, fearing that it would expose her identity, Lady Jhiang, seeing this, did not force her, not necessarily insisting she agree to anything, only wishing to repay her properly.
¡°Doctor Shao, since you won¡¯t ept the invitation, then please ept the meeting gift I have prepared for the child, although it¡¯s not worth much silver, it is a token of my gratitude.¡±
Lady Jhiang took out a pair of exquisite jade bracelets from her bosom and held them before Shao He.
Shao He was slightly stunned, hastily waving her hand, ¡°This is too precious, how dare I ept it?¡±
¡°You saved my daughter, how could you not deserve these things,¡± Lady Jhiang said, as she firmly ced the bracelets in her hands.
Having already regarded Shao He as her daughter¡¯s lifesaver, upon knowing she had a child, Lady Jhiang specifically had someone make this pair of jade bracelets, seeing this, Shao He felt it would be inappropriate to refuse any further and could only bring the two individuals into the room.
In the chamber, the child was still sound asleep, Lady Jhiang sat by the bed, her eyes full of tender love as she looked at such a well-behaved child, gently holding him in her arms, extremely pleased.
ncing up, she saw the man in the wheelchair outside, and felt a familiar sensation, prompting Lady Jhiang to look at him a few more times.
Shao He followed her gaze and noticed that the masked man had not left, blocking Lady Jhiang¡¯s line of sight.
¡°In a few days, I will be leaving Anji Hall, and currently, I only wish to heal in peace, without drawing too much attention, I hope you will forgive me,¡± Shao He said with a slight bow, her attitude very humble.
Lady Jhiang was a wise woman and understood the implications of her words, put down the child, and nodded, ¡°Of course, you go on with your work, we wille to visit you some other time.¡±
Shao He escorted them to the door, and suddenly, Lady Jhiang cast a sideways nce and asked, ¡°The man wearing the mask just now, is he a friend of Doctor Shao?¡±
Shao He was startled, unsure why Lady Jhiang would ask such a question, and shook her head, ¡°You are mistaken,dy, he is not my friend, just my patient.¡±
Hearing this, Lady Jhiang said no more.
As there were still patients waiting outside, Shao He left first.
Watching her thinning figure, Lady Jhiang couldn¡¯t help but sigh.

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 Why do misfortunes ur?
¡°Doctor Shao living alone with a child is truly not easy. Not wanting to attract too much attention, she must be afraid of encountering cmities.¡±
Jhiang Yijia asked in confusion, ¡°Why would she encounter cmities?¡±
¡°A widow with a child is the most susceptible to being bullied, especially by those men who bully others by unting their power. Moreover, the child could also bebeled as illegitimate, a child without a father. She would be ridiculed by others,¡± Lady Jhiang exined and then sighed deeply.
A woman living alone with a child is not easy; if she lives well, she will definitely arouse the envy of others who dislike theplications of life, and who knows how many gossips and rumors could be spread at that time.
Jhiang Yijia immediately understood, just like when she had been pointed at by others.
Children scornfully called illegitimate felt extremely distressed, clenching their fists tightly.
But now Shao He¡¯s identity is special, and it was not easy for him to protect her openly.
¡°Mother, why do you think Doctor Shao is living alone with her child? Where is the child¡¯s father?¡±
Lady Jhiang pondered for a moment and said, ¡°Doctor Shao¡¯s demeanor does not suggest shees from a family of farmers, and her ent sounds particrly like that of someone from Capital City.¡±
¡°Capital City?¡± Jhiang Yijia was even more puzzled.
Seeing the surprised look on her daughter¡¯s face, Lady Jhiang pondered for a moment and said, ¡°This is Doctor Shao¡¯s private matter, you should mind your own business less.¡±
Seeing that her mother seemed reluctant to discuss further, Jhiang Yijia closed her mouth and said nothing.
Shao He was busy all morning and finally returned to the small courtyard after finishing her consultations.
Yun Qian was organizing medicinal materials and smiled as he saw the returning person, saying, ¡°Finished atst.¡±
¡°Hmm,¡± responded Shao He, went straight to the stone table, sat down, poured a cup of tea, and took a small sip.
Yun Qian put down the medicinal materials in his hand, sat opposite her, and Shao He put down her cup and said, ¡°I might leave earlier than nned.¡±
Yun Qian was not surprised that she suddenly proposed to leave earlier; instead, he understood very well, considering Miss Shao¡¯s umon identity.
At the same time, he worried about her having nowhere to go and couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Where do you n to go after you leave here, Miss Shao?¡±
Shao He shook her head, ¡°I haven¡¯t decided yet, but there are still a few patients who have not beenpletely cured. I might have to stay a few more days.¡±
She disliked leaving things halfway, as a doctor, she had to be responsible for the patients she had treated.
Yun Qian fell silent for a moment, then suddenly looked up, ¡°Anji Hall has a branch in Liancheng, and I have rtives there. Would you consider going?¡±

As Shao He turned around, she noticed the masked man who had not yet left the corner. Seeing his distressed expression, she thought he was worried about his leg and stepped towards him.
¡°I didn¡¯t mean to eavesdrop. I was just passing by here by chance and happened to hear your discussion,¡± the masked man said, his voice a bit hoarse, which made it all the more maically appealing.
Shao He heard his exnation and smiled lightly, then continued, ¡°You don¡¯t have to worry. Since I¡¯ve epted your consultation fee, I will take responsibility for you till the end.¡±
¡°That does put me at ease,¡± Pei Huaian said, a faint smile ying on his lips as he stared at her lovely face, somewhat entranced.

Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Thank You for Keeping It a Secret for Me
Pei Huaian snapped back to reality and did not reveal his address, but instead asked, ¡°Where do you think one can hide without being discovered?¡±
Shao He was slightly stunned, remembered the previous reminder from the man in the mask, and felt he seemed to know everything. On second thought, since the original owner once socialized in the identities of the legitimate daughter of the Imperial Censor and the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan, it was normal that some people knew her identity.
¡°Thank you for keeping my secret.¡±
Pei Huaian¡¯s lips curled up slightly, as if to acknowledge that he knew Shao He¡¯s identity, and he began to analyze the situation for her.
¡°Now that you have cured Jhiang Yijia, and with the Jhiang Family¡¯s promotion, even if you leave Anji Hall, tomorrow your portrait and missing person notices will cover the entire Capital City.¡±
Shao He¡¯s brow furrowed slightly, ¡°I¡¯m not worried about my identity being exposed, but I am concerned that it could implicate Anji Hall and Yun Qian.¡±
Yun Qian, who had kindly taken her in and looked after her and her child, providing them a ce to stay, she couldn¡¯t drag Yun Qian into this.
This would be repaying kindness with ingratitude, something she couldn¡¯t do.
Pei Huaian understood her thoughts and continued his analysis, ¡°Chu Yu is a despot at home and cares a lot about his reputation; he won¡¯t overtly harm you in public, but what he might do in private is uncertain.¡±
These words, although hard to ept, were undeniably reasonable ording to the man in the mask¡¯s analysis.
Chu Yu cared extremely about his reputation, which caused Shao He to start to hesitate, and think about the unbearable things Chu Yu had done to her and her child in the past.
If she were caught by Chu Yu again, she definitely wouldn¡¯t have anything good to expect, and she currently had no power to resist, let alone the fact that she had a child with her, she couldn¡¯t take the risk.
Seeing her hesitation, Pei Huaian cleared his throat and continued, ¡°It is said that the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, Yan Ze, does not get along with the Chu Family.¡±
Shao He¡¯s clear eyes narrowed, ¡°You mean to use this, to get the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review to help me?¡±
¡°The Minister of the Court of Judicial Review¡¯s rank is second only to the Minister, and although Chu Yu is a Marquis, he can¡¯t do whatever he wants. Theparison of who is stronger and who is weaker is obvious.¡±
¡°Why would the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review help me?¡± Shao He didn¡¯t believe that there was such a thing as a free lunch in this world; no one would help you for no reason ¡ª there must be some interest involved.
Pei Huaian smiled and humbly replied, ¡°I once did a favor for the Yan Family; I can ask him to protect Anji Hall. With him aboveboard, Chu Yu would not dare to act rashly.¡±
Shao He looked into his unfathomable eyes and finally agreed.
¡°Now that the child is still young, I truly don¡¯t want to have to drag him around, hiding here and there. You¡¯ve helped me this time, so in the future, if you need medical treatment, medication, or to prepare medicinal meals, you cane and find me. She guessed that the main character¡¯s identity was extraordinary; it seems that her choice to save him was indeed correct.
Shao He had never liked to take advantage of others, and this time was no exception; she wouldn¡¯t let Pei Huaian suffer a loss.
Pei Huaian, hearing her mention the child, couldn¡¯t help but ask a few more questions, ¡°Is there enough cow¡¯s milk for the child? Do you want me to send you some more?¡±
¡°No need, there is enough for now, thank you.¡±
Pei Huaian sensed the distance in her words and suppressed the difort in his heart, ¡°He is very well-behaved, I rarely hear him cry.¡±
¡°Perhaps he has experienced more than other infants have, which is why he seems better behaved.¡±
After all, no father would have the heart to abandon his child and wife at Mass Burial Mound, such a person doesn¡¯t deserve to be called human.
Since Jhiang Yijia left, Shao He had been worried that troubles woulde looking for her. After three days passed without incident, her suspense slowly eased.
Just when she breathed a sigh of relief, the Jhiang Family brought an unwee visitor to the shop.

Shao He froze upon seeing the neer, as Jhiang Yijia enthusiastically introduced Luo Jiner, who was taking a seat, ¡°Doctor Shao, this is Miss Luo from Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion. She is feeling unwell and would like your medical attention.¡±
Luo Jiner was gawking at the person before her, a hint of panic evident in her eyes.
¡°You, you¡¡±
At that moment she couldn¡¯t utter aplete sentence, and she couldn¡¯t quite believe the person she was seeing.
Hadn¡¯t the Marquis thrown Shao He into the Mass Burial Mound? How could she be here?
No, it was impossible! She couldn¡¯t still be alive!
Although Shao He had prepared to face the lovers, the suddenness of the events, especially with Jhiang Yijia being the one who brought the person, made her feel as if her heart had sunk to the bottom.
¡°What is ailing the youngdy?¡± Shao He snapped back to reality, asking with a very indifferent tone, pretending not to recognize her.
Luo Jiner blurted out, ¡°You¡¯re not dead?¡±

If Shao He wasn¡¯t dead, then her child¡
Thinking about this, Luo Jiner felt a sense of danger. If the old hag found out, she would definitely bring Shao He and the illegitimate child back home!
¡°If the youngdy is suffering from mental instability, I really cannot cure that. Perhaps you should seek help elsewhere,¡± Shao He said with a straight face.
Recovering herposure, Luo Jiner pretended to be overjoyed, took her hand, and calmly said, ¡°I just knew my sister had good fortune and wouldn¡¯te to harm. The Marquis and I have missed you terribly. If I bring you back, the Marquis would be delighted.¡±
Seeing the feigned expression, Shao He immediately withdrew her hand, her tone remaining cold, ¡°If the youngdy isn¡¯t here for treatment, please make room for others and don¡¯t disturb me while I tend to other patients.¡±
Luo Jiner was irritated by her attitude.
After everything that had happened, how could she still act so high and mighty here?
¡°This Doctor Shao here is just a chatan with no medical skills, a fraudster just out to swindle money,¡± she said.
Luo Jiner mmed the table and stood up abruptly. No one knew Shao He better than she did; there was no way she could have medical skills. She must have resorted to deceiving people for money out of desperation.
The townsfolk waiting in line who had witnessed Shao He¡¯s medical skills scoffed upon hearing her usation, ¡°If you don¡¯t know what you¡¯re talking about, don¡¯t make unfounded ims. We have all seen Doctor Shao¡¯s medical expertise.¡±
¡°Then why bothering here if you don¡¯t believe?¡±
The surrounding people chattered in disagreement, leaving Luo Jiner¡¯s face looking very unpleasant.
¡°So will you have a look or not?¡±
¡°If you¡¯re not going to have it seen to, please make way. We¡¯re still waiting,¡± the crowd behind urged.
Thesements from the townsfolk stung Luo Jiner, who was always haughty and proud; she couldn¡¯t stand being belittled like this.
¡°I will expose you today. I want to see how long you can keep up this act,¡± she challenged.
Jhiang Yijia looked somewhat embarrassed, having not expected things to escte, and quickly tried to cate Luo Jiner, ¡°Doctor Shao is indeed highly skilled in medicine.¡±
Then Jhiang Yijia turned to the stoic Shao He.
¡°Miss Luo is infertile. Could you diagnose why and tell us if there is any hope for a cure?¡±
Jhiang Yijia could only brazen it out and try to steer things back on track, since she was the one who started all this.
Luo Jiner also realized that continuing to cause a scene would be very detrimental to her, so she reluctantly sat down again and reached out her hand.
Shao He felt her pulse and after diagnosing said, ¡°The youngdy has a cold uterus; she has been hurt before and has great difficulty in conceiving. Every time her monthly cyclees, she suffers terribly, and the time of arrival is very irregr.¡±
Luo Jiner hadn¡¯t expected that she would really have medical skills and urately describe her condition.
Chapter 26: One who brings trouble upon himself must suffer the consequences
Chapter 26: Chapter 26: One who brings trouble upon himself must suffer the consequences
To prove that Shao He had no medical skills and was just being stubborn, Luo Jiner deliberately said, ¡°It¡¯s impossible for my monthly periods to always be so regr, and I¡¯ve never felt unwell nor have I ever been injured.¡±
Themon people around her began to waver upon hearing her say this.
Some even whispered, ¡°Could it be that Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills are really a sham?¡±
¡°Could everything have been an exaggeration?¡±
Themoners behind her each added their remarks, and Luo Jiner, upon hearing these words, smiled delightedly.
Shao He didn¡¯t bother to argue with her, knowing the best way to handle a pest like her was to ignore her.
¡°It¡¯s myck of proficiency in medicine that I can¡¯t diagnose thedy¡¯s illness; please seek another distinguished doctor,¡± he said.
Luo Jiner¡¯s smug expression froze, and she hadn¡¯t expected to be so readily dismissed. She said through gritted teeth, ¡°Are you admitting that you have no medical skills?¡±
Shao He looked at her as if gazing at a clown and snorted coldly, ¡°Lady, please watch your words. What I said was that my medical skills are not perfect and cannot cure your disease, but that doesn¡¯t mean everyone else behind you suffers from the same condition.¡±
Luo Jiner was fuming with anger but had no recourse. To preserve her good reputation, she still paid the consultation fee.
Jhiang Yijia, seeing that those who left did not pursue the matter, merely sat to one side quietly watching Shao He. The intelligent woman had already guessed Doctor Shao¡¯s identity, but her attempts to approach and exin were ignored.
¡°If Miss Jhiang has nothing further, please leave,¡± he said.
Jhiang Yijia, sensing his indifferent attitude, immediately felt awkward and hastened to exin, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Doctor Shao. It was the Marquis who found my father, and I had no choice but to bring her here.¡±
¡°It¡¯s said that Old Madam Chu gave the Marquis two more concubines, and Miss Luo got into fights with the concubines. But the Old Madam wants a child, and Miss Luo, being infertile, sought many Imperial Physicians in vain. When the Marquis heard about my case, he came looking for me.¡±
Jhiang Yijia didn¡¯t know Doctor Shao¡¯s identity, otherwise, she would never have brought her along, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Doctor Shao, I truly didn¡¯t do it on purpose.¡±
Shao He, observing the sincerely apologizing woman, thought to herself: Even without Jhiang Yijia, this matter probably couldn¡¯t have been kept secret much longer.
¡°Well, it was bound toe out sooner orter,¡± she conceded.
Jhiang Yijia then breathed a sigh of relief, but when she thought of how Luo Jiner had behaved that day, worry crept into her heart, ¡°How about youe to my house to hide from trouble, to avoid the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansioning after you?¡±
Though she didn¡¯t know the whole story, her inclination was to trust her lifesaver¡ªDoctor Shao¡¯s kindness indicated he was no viin.
¡°Thank you for your kindness, but I believe Luo Jiner won¡¯t leak any news of my whereabouts here for the time being,¡± he responded.

Shao He was fully confident that, as Luo Jiner sought a renowned doctor to treat her infertility, she would not possibly reveal her and her child¡¯s location to the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.
If Old Madam Chu found out she and her child were still alive, she would certainly bring them back. Luo Jiner wouldn¡¯t allow such a thing to happen; she was sure to keep the secret of having seen her.
Jhiang Yijia looked at her in admiration, ¡°Doctor Shao, you really are too clever.¡±
To think that she¡¯d always been called the talented youngdy of Capital City, she felt she couldn¡¯tpare with Doctor Shao in the slightest.
Shao He chuckled lightly, it seemed that Luo Jiner¡¯s days weren¡¯t easy either; no doubt she¡¯d suffered under Old Madam Chu, not to mention dealing with the two concubines as well.
It is said that heaven¡¯s wrath is bearable, but one¡¯s own wrongdoing is unforgivable.
Meanwhile, Luo Jiner returned to the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, walking through the corridor and stopping as she heardughter in the distance.

Chapter 27: Chapter 27 It¡¯s All Jiner¡¯s Fault
¡°Have you heard, Luo Jiner seems to be infertile?¡±
¡°It¡¯s no secret, the Marquis has searched for renowned doctors far and wide to no avail.¡±
¡°Exactly, perhaps it was her fate to be childless.¡±
Luo Jiner, upon hearing this, stood trembling in ce, herplexion pale.
Infertile¡infertile¡she muttered these four words to herself, as if shouting them from the depths of her heart would quell the turmoil inside.
Looking at the two mboyantly dressed women walking hand in hand towards her, they were the two maid-servants arranged by Old Madam Chu.
¡°Oh, isn¡¯t this Sister Jiner? Could it be that you¡¯vee back from seeing the doctor?¡± one of the women approached Luo Jiner, barely suppressing a smirk as she greeted her.
Facing her mocking face, Luo Jiner¡¯s anger rose sharply, and she pushed her forcefully with her hand.
@@novelbin@@
¡°Ah!¡±
The woman, caught off guard, staggered backward and stopped against a tree, angrily staring at the crazed person and shouting, ¡°You wretch, how dare you push me!¡±
The other woman also furiously used, ¡°A wretch is a wretch, can¡¯t bear children herself and can¡¯t stand others mentioning it, truly shameless.¡±
Luo Jiner, filled with rage, gritted her teeth, ¡°Even if I can¡¯t bear children, so what? I¡¯m still favored by the Marquis. In the end, you are the useless ones, left tonguish alone in empty rooms.¡±
¡°You!¡±
The two women were shocked by her words, then exchanged a look, one of them saying sarcastically, ¡°All you have is a swift tongue, don¡¯t hurt yourself with it.¡±
The pushed woman sneered, ¡°Exactly, can¡¯t even bear a child, and still has the audacity to monopolize the Marquis, such thick skin.¡±
Luo Jiner¡¯s face flushed red with anger as she furiously cursed, ¡°Wretch, if you dare to spout nonsense again, be careful I¡¯ll tear your mouth apart.¡±
The woman scoffed, ¡°No matter how much the Marquis favors you, what does it matter? You¡¯re just a servant girl, thedy of the marquis mansion¡¯s position will never be yours.¡±
Luo Jiner harbored a deep hatred, if it weren¡¯t for the Old Madam holding her back, these two little wretches wouldn¡¯t dare to run wild over her.
Thinking this, Luo Jiner¡¯s gaze turned even colder, ¡°Today, I will let you know what true favor is.¡±
With that, Luo Jiner suddenly rushed forward, grabbed the front of one woman¡¯s dress at her chest, and clutched her hair tightly with the other hand.
They quickly scuffled together, neither willing to let go, but Luo Jiner, the more skilled of the two, eventually pinned the woman to the ground and beat her fiercely.
In a moment, the once beautiful and charming woman was left disheveled and in disarray.
Luo Jiner was not much better, with her hair loose and scratch marks on her neck and the back of her hands.
¡°Enough, stop fighting, stop!¡± The other woman tried to pull them apart, but was too weak to seed.
Just then, footsteps suddenly approached.
Hearing the sound, Luo Jiner immediately looked up. She saw Chu Yu with his guards walking towards them.
Realizing who it was, she immediately got off the woman and taunted, ¡°Even if I can¡¯t bear children, the Prince still runs to my room every night, unwilling to nce at you even once.¡±
The beaten woman, already furious, was further provoked by her taunt and lunged at her, but before she could strike, amanding voice came from behind.
¡°Stop!¡±
Chu Yu, witnessing the scene before him, his face turned dark.
Chu Yu¡¯s face was grim, his icy re swept around the circle, finally resting on the disheveled woman, his tone utterly cold.
¡°Marquis, it¡¯s all Jiner¡¯s fault, Jiner shouldn¡¯t have retorted to the infertility issue, it made the two sisters angry,¡± Luo Jiner climbed up from the ground, looking pitiful.

Chapter 32: Chapter 33 I Believe in You
¡°Thank you.¡±
Thinking of the patients from today¡¯s consultations, most of whom had developed frostbite, Shao He spoke up, ¡°I want to make frostbite ointment and sell it in the shop.¡±
After hearing this, Yun Qian frowned and exined, ¡°The production process for frostbite ointment isplicated, and it¡¯s not cheap. Common people won¡¯t buy it; it won¡¯t bring in any silver.¡±
Previously, when he was treating patients, he had made frostbite ointment, but in the end, due to its high price, he was only able to sell it at a loss.
¡°That¡¯s because the ingredients you used were too expensive, but I can make a better frostbite ointment at a much lower cost,¡± Shao He said confidently.
She understood that the majority of those who bought frostbite ointment were ordinary people; naturally, they couldn¡¯t afford expensive products. However, if the price were reasonable, she believed many would buy it, since no one wants to endure the itch and pain of frostbite.
Having witnessed Shao He¡¯s medical skills, Yun Qian was certain that if she said she could produce frostbite ointment at a lower cost, then it was definitely possible.
@@novelbin@@
¡°Alright, you can try using the medicinal ingredients from the shop. If it works out, that would be great. If it doesn¡¯t, we¡¯ll make other ns,¡± he said.
¡°It will definitely work,¡± Shao He asserted.
¡°If you really can make it, we¡¯ll split the earnings; you¡¯ll get seventy percent and I¡¯ll take thirty,¡± Yun Qian said, not minding earning less. Compared to those silvers, he cared more about this person with superior medical skills.
¡°Thank you. Let¡¯s split it fifty-fifty. You provide the ingredients, and I¡¯m just making it. You earn as much as you work for,¡± Shao He said, looking at him with immense gratitude. Although she really needed silver at the moment, she didn¡¯t like taking unfair advantage of others.
As the saying goes, with silver in hand, one can travel anywhere; without it, it¡¯s hard to take even a single step.
Overhearing their jovial discussion, Pei Huaian, who was holding a child, couldn¡¯t help but join in.
¡°How low can the cost of the frostbite ointment be?¡±
To him, this product was very useful, but few shops actually made frostbite ointment.
Moreover, even when someone did produce it, the price was often very high.
¡°Others sell their frostbite ointment for ten coins a bottle. The one I¡¯ll make will be better and will only cost four coins to produce,¡± Shao He had already looked into it¡ªthe ointment was rarely found in medical halls.
¡°Four coins?¡± Yun Qian eximed in surprise.
He had thought that even with reduced costs, it would have to be priced at seven or eight coins; he never imagined it could be so low.
He couldn¡¯t help but question, ¡°Will frostbite ointment produced so inexpensively really be effective?¡±
¡°The effect will only be better,¡± she responded.
Just as Pei Huaian was about to say something, he felt a warmth in his hands as the child began to cry.
¡°He, he seems to have¡ wet himself.¡±
Yun Qian took the child from Pei Huaian¡¯s hands andid him on the bed, skillfully changing the diaper.
Pei Huaian followed and, watching his adept movements, couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Have you had children?¡±
Yun Qian rolled his eyes, ¡°No.¡±
It was his first time taking care of a child too, and he was initially all thumbs, but gradually got the hang of it.
Not to be outdone, Pei Huaian watched Yun Qian¡¯s actions closely, mitting them to memory and asking about anything he didn¡¯t understand.
Shao He, the child¡¯s biological mother, stood rooted to the spot, watching the two men figure out how to change diapers and swaddle the baby, her brow tightly knitted.
If this were the modern era, it might be understandable, but this was, after all, ancient times. Two grown men studying how to soothe a baby might be ridiculed to death if word got out.
Most importantly, why did she feel as though the child wasn¡¯t hers, but theirs?
After Yun Qian and Pei Huaian had changed the child¡¯s diaper, the little one fell soundly asleep.
Pei Huaian, upon leaving the inner chamber, brought up the frostbite ointment again.
¡°Could the price of the frostbite ointment be cheaper?¡± he inquired.
Shao He was surprised that he actually believed her, her tone tinged with teasing, ¡°What if the frostbite ointment turns out to be useless, wouldn¡¯t you have lost silver?¡±
¡°I trust you,¡± Pei Huaian said firmly.
Shao He was briefly taken aback, then smiled, ¡°Alright, I¡¯ll give you a discount.¡±
Pei Huaian turned and began discussing the purchase with Yun Qian, the two of them chatting away by the window.
Aunt Liu came into the kitchen carrying some warmed milk, ¡°Doctor Shao, this is milk I¡¯ve warmed especially for the child.¡±
¡°Thank you, Aunt Liu. The child has just fallen asleep; let¡¯s leave it here for now,¡± Shao He said, taking the milk and cing it on the table.
The pair discussed untilte before leaving the room. As he was leaving, Pei Huaian took onest look at the child, watching him drink the milk with a smile curling the corners of his mouth.
Yun Qian watched the two in the room, feeling an unusual sensation in his heart¡ªit was as if they were the real family.
That night, Shao He put the child to sleep and tiptoed out of bed, starting to work on the frostbite ointment.
Shao He focused her mind and took an antipruritic agent, vitamin E tablets, and other ingredients like cinnamon and salvia root from her space.
She first soaked the ingredients in five times their volume of water, to more easily extract theirponents through boiling.
While waiting, she went back to check on the sleeping child, then returned to the kitchen.
She took out the soaked schisandra berries, ephedra, camphor, and other ingredients and began to simmer them in a y pot.
The first simmering used water in a 1 to 5 ratio, the second simmering used a 1 to 3 ratio, and the third used a 1 to 1 ratio. First, she used a low heat, then brought it to a boil over high heat, and finally simmered it over low heat for fifteen to thirty minutes, repeating this process several times. She then took the residue to extract the juice.

Luo Jiner, seeing herself ignored, clenched her hand into a fist at her side and then said softly, ¡°Don¡¯t think that just because you¡¯ve read a few medical books you dare to treat illnesses. In the past, you were just a blind cat bumping into a dead mouse. What you¡¯re doing is clearly joking with thesemon people¡¯s lives! You better stop.¡±
This act of hers, like a white lotus, made Shao He¡¯s stomach churn, and the feeling of nausea made her want to vomit.
¡°What is the meaning of this youngdy looking for trouble with me every other day? I haven¡¯t stolen your husband, nor have I broken up your family. What deep hatred do we have between us that you behave like this toward me?¡± Shao He sarcastically responded without stopping the movements in her hands.
¡°You¡¡±
Luo Jiner was choked with anger, not expecting her to be so articte, and she couldn¡¯t find a reason to refute.
Seeing her unwilling to leave, Shao He couldn¡¯t be bothered to waste more words and continued with her actions.
¡°I¡¯m only afraid that you¡¯ll stray down the wrong path, and even more afraid that you¡¯ll harm others by relying on the few medical books you¡¯ve read,¡± Luo Jiner said, pretending to be kind-hearted and lovely.
Her words caught Shao He¡¯s attention. She finished applying ointment to thest red bump on Qiu Zhu¡¯s face, walked to the side to wash her hands with clean water, took out a handkerchief to dry her hands, and then returned to sit down in front of the consultation desk.
¡°My affairs are none of your concern, but your affairs do concern me. The problem of your cold uterus and infertility can only be treated by me,¡± Shao He said confidently with a smug curl of her lips.
From thest pulse diagnosis, she knew that Luo Jiner¡¯s cold uterus was extremely severe, and if it continued to go untreated, it was likely that no one would be able to heal her, and she might never be able to bear children in her lifetime.
And here, a woman who could not bear children lived a life more painful than death.
When Luo Jiner heard her mention her illness, her heart skipped a beat, but she soon recovered, took out an embroidered handkerchief, and pretended to look pitiful.

¡°You are a Doctor, how can you spread such rumors about an unmarried girl like me!¡±
Seeing her act like this, Shao He¡¯s eyes shed with contempt. She had stolen someone else¡¯s husband and had the nerve to act here as if she was an unmarried youngdy. Shao He was truly at a loss for words.
¡°Your condition is very severe, and if you keep dragging it out, there will definitely be a risk to your life. Don¡¯t say I didn¡¯t warn you,¡± Shao He kindly reminded her, speaking as a Doctor.
Of course, she wasn¡¯t entirely kind-hearted because she knew Luo Jiner would never let her treat the illness.
Luo Jiner was about to retort when the red bumps on Qiu Zhu¡¯s face began to fade, restoring her fairplexion.
¡°Look, it¡¯s better, it¡¯s better, the red bumps on her face have all disappeared!¡±
¡°It¡¯s truly miraculous!¡±
¡°In such a short time, she¡¯s cured her allergic symptoms!¡±
The crowd around the consultation area couldn¡¯t help but exim!
Some even came forward to ask, ¡°Can urticaria be treated?¡±
¡°Can other allergic symptoms be treated?¡±
¡°How much Silver is this ointment? Do you have any more?¡±
The onlookers couldn¡¯t help but rush in to inquire, pushing Luo Jiner to the corner and even stepping on her several times.
Luo Jiner clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her flesh, shaking with rage.
Shao He saw the crowd jostling and took the opportunity to promote her frostbite ointment.
Qiu Zhu¡¯s face was pale, seeing Luo Jiner scared and shivering in the corner, unsure of what to do, she could only follow Luo Jiner out of the medical clinic.
Shao He, seeing the frostbite ointment sold out, felt joy in her heart. She was about to get up and go check on the children when Pei Huaian was pushed in.
When he saw the jade hairpin on Shao He¡¯s head, his heart leaped, and a thrill shed through his eyes.
But recalling the reason for his visit, his expression became serious as he asked, ¡°Can you treat old, chronic injuries?¡±
¡°That depends on what the condition is; not all injuries are within my ability to treat,¡± Shao He answered with great responsibility.
After all, she was a Doctor, not a deity.
Pei Huaian then roughly described the condition of the injured person.
Upon hearing this, Shao He¡¯s face showed difficulty, ¡°The condition you¡¯re describing sounds like the patient¡¯s muscles below the calf are all necrotic. If that¡¯s the case, there is no chance of healing.¡±
There was no possibility of treatment for such a condition; once the muscle tissue waspletely necrotic, that leg was essentially useless.
Pei Huaian had anticipated such an oue, holding only a sliver of hope.
Seeing the disappointment in his eyes, Shao He hesitated for a moment before saying, ¡°There¡¯s one more method, fitting a prosthetic limb.¡±
This solution might be hard for many people here to ept and could easily subject them to ridicule.
Pei Huaian heard this term for the first time and was somewhat puzzled by it.
¡°What is fitting a prosthetic limb?¡±
¡°It means cutting off his own leg and fitting him with a pair of artificial legs,¡± Shao He exined simply.
Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian¡¯s eyes filled with fright, never before having heard of such a treatment method.
Cutting off the original leg, could a person still survive?

So Chu Yu had no choice but to leave first.
As soon as Chu Yu left, Old Madam Chu immediately sat up from the soft couch, taking the mouthwash handed by the nanny, and then wiped the corner of her mouth with the embroidered handkerchief.
She showed none of her earlier weakness, the vomiting of blood had been caused by the two medicine pills she had swallowed earlier.

The nanny couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Old Madam, why did you give that invitation to the Marquis? What if they really do invite Old Mr. He to treat Luo Jiner¡¯s illness? Wouldn¡¯t you be shooting yourself in the foot?¡±
¡°Let¡¯s not talk about whether they will be able to invite Old Mr. He, even if hees, he may not be able to heal her. In this way, Yuyu will only feel more guilty towards me.¡±
Besides, she didn¡¯t really wish for Luo Jiner to be infertile, so what if she had a child? When the time came, she could take the child beside her to raise.
Old Madam Chu looked at the scenery outside the window, her eyes flickering with uncertainty, wanting only to quickly hold a great-grandson in her arms, no matter who bore the child.
If the woman waspliant, she would stay, if not, the child would stay and the mother would leave.
Back in her room, Luo Jiner poured a cup of tea and ced it in front of Chu Yu.
Looking at the Marquis, who was full of worries, and then at the invitation on the table, she sat next to him and spoke softly, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Marquis¡ªI have troubled the Old Madam. I have let you down, and I have let the Old Madam down.¡±
Chu Yu, seeing the self-reproachful person, took her into his arms, ¡°It¡¯s not your fault. Didn¡¯t Grandmother give us an invitation? We might as well let Imperial Doctor He take a look at you.¡±
¡°I¡¯m afraid¡ the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. My illness might never be cured, and I may never be able to bear our children. Without being able to continue your lineage, what meaning is there for me to live?¡±
The more Luo Jiner spoke, the more agitated she became, eventually crying uncontrobly.
¡°Silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about!¡± Chu Yu said, hugging her even tighter, gentlyforting her.
Luo Jiner leaned against Chu Yu¡¯s shoulder, her eyes red, ¡°Marquis, if Jiner cannot bear children, will you despise me?¡±
¡°Of course not!¡± Chu Yu said without hesitation.
¡°Marquis¡¡± Luo Jiner, moved, started to raise her head to say thank you, but Chu Yu sealed her lips with a kiss.
The kiss was deep and lingering.
It wasn¡¯t until their breath became hurried that Chu Yu finally released her, his gaze tender as though it could drip water.
¡°Rest assured. I will never despise you, whether you can bear children or not. If ites to that, we can adopt a child to be raised under your name,¡± Chu Yu said.
Chu Yu¡¯s words made Luo Jiner feel extremely ufortable, and even more panicked inside.
Upon serious consideration, if they were to adopt, it would surely be from a concubine. In the end, Chu Yu would still have another woman.
¡°Alright, thank you, Marquis.¡± Luo Jiner verbally agreed, but she was determined not to let another woman give birth to the heir before her.
How could she allow such a thing to happen!
¡
The cold wind blew piercingly; the weather was turning colder, and the frostbite ointment was selling better and better.
Because of this, Shao He made a hefty sum of silver at the time of profit-sharing, giving her a taste of sess.
¡°I want to develop some medicine for treating colds, which you can just dilute with hot water without the need for decoction. What do you think?¡±
¡°Is there really such a medicine?¡±
Yun Qian stared at her, his mouth agape for a long time.
To know that somemon folks, unwilling to use firewood to decoct medicine, would literally cook themselves to death, such a thing happened frequently among the ordinary families.
If she could really make a medicine for colds that did not require decoction and could simply be taken with hot water, it would naturally be a good thing for the people.
¡°Of course, you¡¯ll see once I¡¯ve made it,¡± Shao He began to calcte which herbs she would include this time.
As the two of them discussed, Pei Huaian walked in¡ªit was his day for medical consultation.
¡°What are you discussing?¡±
Seeing the two engrossed in their conversation, he appropriately interrupted them.
Shao He recalled the masked man ordering a lot of frostbite ointment herest time. He would surely need the medicine for colds this time as well.
So she casually asked, ¡°I¡¯m nning to make some cold medicine that can be taken by mixing it with water instead of decocting it. Would you like to ce an order in advance?¡±
¡°There¡¯s such a medicine?¡± Pei Huaian heard of it for the first time, a medicine for colds that did not require decoction and could be taken with just hot water.
However, if such a medicine really existed, he certainly needed it. It would be greatly useful for him, saving a lot of unnecessary trouble.
With a surprised gaze from Pei Huaian, Shao He nodded; she knew the masked man would definitely need it and was even more certain of her own thoughts.
It was clear that this masked man must be a Great General, and all of these supplies were for the soldiers at the border city.
¡°It will be avable soon. If you need it, you should order ahead of time, or else don¡¯t me me if it¡¯s all sold outter,¡± Shao He said confidently, a mischievous smile spreading on her lips.

Shao He noticed the child ceased crying and was staring at something behind her; following his gaze, she found Xiao Linzhang looking at the man in the wheelchair.
No matter how she adjusted her posture, Xiao Linzhang¡¯s gaze remained fixed on the masked man, and he couldn¡¯t stop smiling, drool dripping down.
Aunt Liu, amazed, said, ¡°It seems Xiao Linzhang really likes this young master; he stops crying and fussing as soon as he sees him, and evenughs so happily.¡±
¡°Yes, Xiao Linzhang and he are truly fated,¡± Shao He chuckled softly, seeing the masked man¡¯s yearning gaze, handed the child to him, then crouched down to y with the child together.
¡
The cold wind kept blowing outside the window while Luo Jinery in bed, with Old Mr. He stroking his beard and taking her pulse.
Chu Yu anxiously waited beside her, and as soon as the hands retracted, immediately stepped forward and asked, ¡°Old Mr. He, how is Jiner¡¯s health?¡±
¡°I am incapable, please seek someone more skilled, Marquis.¡±
These words from Old Mr. He made Chu Yu step back two steps.
Luo Jiner likewise pulled back the muslin canopy, clutched the bed desperately, and pleaded, ¡°Old Mr. He, there¡¯s no one in the Capital City with higher medical skills than you. Can¡¯t you think of something else?¡±
¡°s, the girl¡¯s body has been too severely damaged; it¡¯s simply impossible to cure,¡± Old Mr. He stated truthfully.
After speaking, he bowed his back and turned to leave.
Luo Jiner, clutching an embroidered handkerchief, started to cry, and Chu Yu approached tofort her, ¡°Don¡¯t worry, if all else fails, we can adopt a child in your name; raising a child brings greater kindness than giving birth to one.¡±
How could Luo Jiner let such a thing happen? Thinking back on something Shao He once said, a new idea formed in her mind.
Luo Jiner, wearing a veil, arrived in front of the hospital, stared at the sign reading ¡°Miraculous Rejuvenation¡±, took a deep breath, and walked in.
The hospital wasn¡¯t busy, with only a few patients, and Shao He, the physician, was not there; she immediately stepped back and fell behind the crowd, as her visit was intended to secretly seek treatment from Shao He, hence the concealed face.
As she was waiting, the faint sound of a baby¡¯s cry entered her ears; although very light, she heard it, and Luo Jiner, surprised, immediately ran towards the sound.
Just as she was about to enter the backyard, Yun Qian came over in time to stop her.
¡°The backyard is off-limits to outsiders. If you need medical attention, please get in line and wait.¡±
¡°I, I want to see Doctor Shao, please let me go in? I need to speak with her,¡± Luo Jiner said in a pinched voice.
Listening to her, Yun Qian still refused to let her in, ¡°Please wait a moment, Doctor Shao will be out soon.¡±
No matter what excuse Luo Jiner provided, Yun Qian gently refused each one, even when she resorted to saying she needed the restroom, he still declined.
¡°I just heard the sound of a child crying from the back, is it your child?¡± Unable to enter, Luo Jiner tried another approach by asking Yun Qian, eager to know who the child was.
¡°Are you here for medical treatment? If not, please leave,¡± Yun Qian¡¯s feelings of alertness emerged.
With her face concealed under the veiled hat, clearly not wanting to be recognized, and her keen interest in the child, he presumed she was up to no good.
Seeing Yun Qian¡¯s firm stance, Luo Jiner decided to leave.
Upon leaving the hospital, in order to find out exactly whose child it was, she specifically asked around among the local people, and the ultimate answer was the one she least wanted.
It turned out that Shao He¡¯s child had not died; she and her son really had strong life force; such things still hadn¡¯t killed them.
On the way back, thinking of Old Lady Chu¡¯s attitude towards the child, her eyes revealed a bloodthirsty gleam; she could not let the mother and son continue to live.
This was a significant threat to her.

Chapter 42: Chapter 43 I would like to invite you to my wedding banquet
Although the early winter weather was cold, the sunlight was quite warm, and there were quite a few pedestriansing and going on the streets.
Jhiang Yijia, wearing a veil, walked into the clinic, followed closely by her maid.
Shao He was seeing a patient and did not notice her arrival.
It was not until Jhiang Yijia sat down and reached out her hand that Shao He realized.
¡°Howe you have time toe today?¡±
She had heard that the Jhiang Family and Fang Family were preparing for a marriage; she should have time toe here.
Jhiang Yijia took out a red invitation and passed it over, with arge ¡°Happiness¡± character written on it.
¡°Congrattions,¡± Shao He said, ncing at the invitation.
¡°I would like you to attend my wedding feast.¡± Jhiang Yijia was sincerely inviting; without Doctor Shao, this marriage would not have been possible. She hoped that Shao He would attend the wedding feast as a friend.
Shao He lowered her eyes, ¡°My status might make it inconvenient to attend. I wish you an early happy marriage and a harmonious life together.¡±
Only then did Jhiang Yijia remember her status and understood why she could not attend.
However, this did not affect the bond between them.
¡°I have been busy embroidering my wedding gown for the past few days and haven¡¯te. The frostbite ointment that the maid bought is very effective; it¡¯s now impossible to buy anymore. Could you let me buy some more through the back door?¡± Jhiang Yijia leaned in, blinking herrge eyes while shaking Shao He¡¯s hand thaty on the table.
Shao He withdrew her hand and was about to answer when Jhiang Yijia immediately looked sullen, as if about to cry, ¡°Could you open the back door, please?¡±
¡°Since you¡¯ve asked, I shall set some aside for you.¡± Shao He picked up her teacup and took a sip, then looked up at the person across from her with a meaningful gaze.
@@novelbin@@
At Shao He¡¯s words, Jhiang Yijia immediately straightened up, her voice excited, ¡°Thank you, thank you so much.¡±
As the two chatted, Jhiang Yijia remembered some news she had heard a few days ago. She leaned on the table and whispered, ¡°I heard that your ointment has reached the Imperial Medical Bureau, and the Imperial Physician is studying it.¡±
Shao He continued to drink her tea calmly.
¡°Aren¡¯t you going to react?¡±
¡°Why should I react?¡± Shao He put down her tea cup, her eyebrows slightly raised.
¡°But¡¡±
¡°The form for the frostbite ointment won¡¯t be easily deciphered by them.¡± Upon hearing this, Shao He slightly squinted her eyes, a faint smile appearing on her lips, and a cold gleam shed in her eyes.
Seeing the confident expression, Jhiang Yijia felt that her concerns were superfluous and couldn¡¯t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
It wasn¡¯t until the sun set in the west that Jhiang Yijia reluctantly left with the frostbite ointment.
As night fell, a carriage came from outside the city.
The carriage finally stopped in front of the clinic, and a man got out and knocked on the door.
¡°Knock knock knock!¡±
The knocking went on for a long time with no one answering the door.
¡°How can there be no one?¡± the man wondered, then frowned, ¡°Could it be that no one is in?¡±
¡°Who is it!¡± The servant boy opened the door and asked, poking his head out.
The man who was about to leave quickly replied, ¡°Is there a doctor in? We have someone injured and are looking for a doctor to dress the wounds.¡±
¡°Everyone has rested,e back tomorrow.¡±
Just as the servant boy was about to close the door, arge hand suddenly pushed the door open forcefully, and several thugs got off the carriage, their bodies smeared with some blood.
¡°What, what are you going to do?¡± the servant boy retreated in fright, his legs trembling because of the smell of blood on them.
One of the thugs pulled out a purse and threw it in front of him, speaking menacingly, ¡°Go get a doctor, and treat us.¡±
The servant boy picked up the purse and weighed it, cursing inwardly, but his face was filled with a smile as he said, ¡°Gentlemen, our doctor has already rested, perhaps you might consider checking somewhere else¡¡±
The servant boy hadn¡¯t finished speaking when he was kicked to the ground by a thug, who then grabbed his cor, pointed at the attendant and shouted angrily, ¡± less nonsense, hurry up and treat us, or I will smash this clinic!¡±
The servant boy, trembling with fear and seeing the murderous look in the man¡¯s eyes, dared not ask more. He quickly stood up and said, ¡°Gentlemen, please wait a moment, I will immediately call someone toe and treat you.¡±
With that, he hurried away.
The thug nced at the servant boy¡¯s retreating figure, gave a signal to the others,
One of them went outside, helping several severely injured thugs into the clinic from the carriage, then whistled to signal the others while another closed the doors and windows before sitting down again.
The servant boy was about to knock on Yun Qian¡¯s door when, just as he raised his hand, the door suddenly opened.
¡°What happened?¡± Yun Qian, dressed in white, stood in the doorway and asked.
Chapter 45 - 46 What Are You Planning to Do?
Chapter 45: Chapter 46 What Are You nning to Do?
Yun Qian looked at Shao He, ¡°What do you n to do?¡±
¡°We¡¯ll talk about it tomorrow, you go rest first.¡± Shao He took the sleeping child, her expression weary.
Yun Qian nodded with a smile and turned to walk toward the room.
At that moment, Shao He, with no desire to sleep, ced the child on the bed and started to tidy up the cluttered front hall.
Half a quarter of an hour passed, and just as Shao He was about to get up and return, there came another flurry of panicked knocking at the door.
She cautiously approached the door and called out, ¡°Who is it?¡±
¡°It¡¯s me.¡±
Hearing the familiar voice, Shao He quickly opened the door and saw the man in the wheelchair with a mask. His chest was still heaving, indicating he hade in haste from some prior engagement.
¡°What¡¯s wrong? Is it your leg acting up again, or is there something else?¡± Shao He deliberately probed.
¡°I¡¯m feeling a bit unwell, where¡¯s Xiao Linzhang?¡± Pei Huaian replied evasively.
Shao He opened the door to let him in and led him to the backyard, her gaze flickering, ¡°Tonight, a group of injured gangsters came to kill Xiao Linzhang. Someone took care of them, someone with formidable martial arts, clean and efficient moves¡ªthe gangsters died by a single stroke. Who do you think it was?¡±
Pei Huaian perceived the probing in her words. He neither denied nor admitted anything, remaining silent.
Seeing his calm countenance, Shao He knew he meant no harm and did not pursue the matter any further.
Yet such incidents nevere singly but in battalions, so it was best to be prepared. Xiao Linzhang might not always be so fortunate to be saved by others.
@@novelbin@@
¡°I¡¯m thinking of hiring a maid skilled in martial arts to protect the child¡ªthat should be safer.¡±
Shao He calcted in her mind; the silver she had on hand should be enough.
Pei Huaian heard this and greatly agreed, taking the matter into his own hands, ¡°Why don¡¯t you let me handle this? I¡¯ll ensure we choose someone reliable who won¡¯t make any mistakes.¡±
¡°Thank you very much.¡± Shao He agreed immediately, feeling extremely grateful.
Seeing Xiao Linzhang safe and sound, Pei Huaian then took his leave.
In the pitch-dark room, drowsiness finally overcame Shao He, and shey down on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
Warm sunlight filtered through the gaps in the windowttice, shining onto the bedside.
The child on the bed slowly opened his eyes, his eyeballs wobbled around a few times, then he grabbed his little hand into a fist and stuffed it into his mouth, drool continuously trickling down the corners of his mouth.
Shao He was awakened by the child¡¯s cries, seeing the wailing child and then ncing outside at the sun, she knew he must be hungry.
Just as she was about to get up and heat some cow¡¯s milk, she pushed open the door and saw Yun Qian already waiting outside.
¡°You¡¯re awake, I¡¯ve had Aunt Liu heat the milk already, and I¡¯ll feed it to Xiao Linzhang.¡± Yun Qian didn¡¯t dare enter the room or knock on the door, simply waiting outside all this while.
Shao He felt immensely grateful and thought of finding a maid to care for the child sooner, so as not to always trouble Yun Qian.
Watching Xiao Linzhang finish his milk, Shao He busied herself studying how to prepare a treatment for themon cold effervescent powder.
She started by selecting and weighing out medicinal ingredients like honeysuckle, fritiria, mint, licorice, and dried tangerine peel, followed by cleaning, drying, grinding them into powder, and finally, mixing the different powders together.
Though the process seemed simple, it was actually difficult and time-consuming.
¡
¡°Useless, all of you are utterly useless!¡± Luo Jiner mmed her teacup violently to the ground.
The teacup shattered instantly.
Tea leaves and fragments of the cup scattered all over the floor, even staining her clothes with tea.
Thinking of her exposed n, possibly revealing herself, she couldn¡¯t help feeling irritated.
The attitudes of Old Madam Chu and Chu Yu towards her worsened her difort, and she realized it was not a good time to take action.
¡°Miss Luo, Miss Liang is here,¡± Qiu Zhu reported from outside the door.
Luo Jiner felt a surge of aversion upon hearing of Liang Weishuang¡¯s visit, annoyed by the woman¡¯s frequent troubles because of her interest in the Marquis.
But now that Liang Weishuang had arrived, a sly pleasure arose in her¡ªshe immediately thought of using her as a pawn.
Luo Jiner¡¯s expression softened, and she instructed Qiu Zhu as she stepped out, ¡°Go tidy up the room.¡±
¡°Yes,¡± Qiu Zhu responded and went into the room.
Luo Jiner fixed her makeup and walked towards the outside of the courtyard.
On the other hand, upon learning that even Imperial Doctor He couldn¡¯t cure Luo Jiner¡¯s infertility, Old Madam Chu felt neither worry nor happiness but became suspicious of her frequent visits to Anji Hall.
Chapter 47 - 48: Your name is Pei Huaian?
Chapter 47: Chapter 48: Your name is Pei Huaian?
¡°My surname is Pei, and my given name is Huaian, you can just call me Huaian,¡± Pei Huaian said with a smile.
¡°Huaian? Pei Huaian,¡± Shao He called softly.
When Pei Huaian heard his own name spoken from her lips, it seemed to carry a different feeling, and he couldn¡¯t help but curve his lips into a shallow smile; turns out his name sounded so pleasant.
¡°Thank you for today¡¯s affair, Young Master Pei.¡± Shao He could tell he had no ill intentions and knew he truly cared for her and Xiao Linzhang, so she didn¡¯t think too much about it.
¡°We are also friends; thanking me is too polite.¡±
While they were speaking, Ah Mo rushed in, gave a slight nod to Shao He, and quickly walked up to Pei Huaian¡¯s side.
Leaning over, he whispered a few words in Pei Huaian¡¯s ear, causing his face to change drastically. He then bid farewell to Shao He, and Ah Mo pushed him as they hurriedly left.
Shao He watched their hastening figures disappearing, a hint of worry involuntarily rising in her heart; it seemed something serious must have happened.
She retracted her gaze and brought the two maids to the backyard, giving them a brief introduction before showing them where they would be staying.
The rooms where the two maids would stay were next to hers; through short contact, she noticed their light steps and calloused hands, a sign they were used to practicing martial arts for a long time.
¡°Are you two sisters?¡±
Shao He leaned against the door, looking at the two cleaning up the room and asked.
¡°Yes,¡± the two stopped their work and looked towards the doorway to answer.
¡°Who is the elder sister, and who is the younger?¡±
Qing Shan stepped forward first, ¡°I am the elder sister, Qing Shan.¡±
Qingxia followed and said, ¡°I am the younger sister, Qingxia.¡±
¡°You both know martial arts?¡±
Seeing that they were young, they must have endured much hardship.
Both nodded together, ¡°We have practiced martial arts since we were young and know some self-defense techniques.¡±
¡°Alright, you can continue settling in,¡± Shao He said without asking further and turned to leave.
In the room left with only Qing Shan and Qingxia, looking at the departing figure, Qingxia leaned in to ask, ¡°Sister, doesn¡¯t our master seem a bit odd?¡±
Qing Shan replied coldly, ¡°Don¡¯t ask too much about the master¡¯s affairs, and don¡¯t meddle too much. Just do what we are supposed to.¡±
¡°Pfft,¡± Qingxia turned and went back to arranging the bedding.
Time flew by swiftly, and before they knew it, half a month had passed, and the weather outside became colder and colder.
Luo Jiner, who rarely behaved herself, hadn¡¯te to cause any trouble again, but Pei Huaian had also note for treatment, which made her somewhat worried.
She had managed to force out some of the cold poison, but without regr bloodletting and hotpresses, the poison could worsen again.
¡°Doctor, what medicine should I take for my illness?¡± inquired the patient being seen, looking at the distracted person.
¡°Anything will do,¡± Shao He replied absently.
The patient was somewhat bewildered, what did ¡®anything will do¡¯ mean?
Yun Qian, hearing her words, came over, ¡°You have only minor symptoms; there¡¯s no need for medication. Just go back and eat more foods that replenish qi and blood.¡±
¡°Oh, alright,¡± the patient rose and left.
Only then did Shao He snap back to reality, massaging her tired forehead, ¡°What brings you here?¡±
¡°I see you¡¯ve been distractedtely, is something troubling you?¡±
Yun Qian had noticed that in recent days, she always seemed to be looking outside as if waiting for someone, the expectant look in her eyes impossible to hide. She would shake her head in disappointment every day before closing time.
This alerted Yun Qian that something was off; since arriving here, Miss Shao had never shown such emotion.
Shao He was silent for a moment, then shook her head, ¡°It¡¯s nothing; Xiao Linzhang has been noisy at nighttely, probably just haven¡¯t slept well, it¡¯s no big deal.¡±
However, Yun Qian did not let down his guard, his intuition telling him that Miss Shao was definitely hiding something.
Yun Qian gave her a look, ultimately choosing not to voice his concerns, but instead offered, ¡°If you¡¯re tired, you should rest. I can tend to the patients today.¡±
¡°No, I¡¯m fine, I¡¯ll do it. What if some special patient arrives and I miss them?¡±
Upon hearing this, Yun Qian guessed that Miss Shao might be waiting for Young Master Pei; he recalled her mentioning that Young Master Pei¡¯s injury required treatment every seven days, and it had been half a month since hest came.
@@novelbin@@
¡°Miss Shao is worried about Young Master Pei,¡± Yun Qian stated, his words more a confirmation than a question.
¡°His leg ailment needs treatment every seven days, or he might suffer a rpse.¡±
Yun Qian detected a hint of worry in her voice and, considering their recent closeness, warned her, ¡°I suspect Young Master Pei¡¯s identity is not ordinary, he could be a member of the Royal Family.¡±
His words snapped Shao He to attention. She had always thought of Pei Huaian as a General, but it was also possible that he was from the Royal Family.
¡°Miss Shao, it might be better to exercise some caution,¡± Yun Qian advised kindly.
Realizing he might have misunderstood, Shao He smiled and exined, ¡°There¡¯s nothing more than a doctor-patient rtionship between Young Master Pei and me.¡±
Chapter 48 - 49: Giving You Half of the Dividends
Chapter 48: Chapter 49: Giving You Half of the Dividends
¡°Moreover, if I fail to heal his leg injury, wouldn¡¯t I have epted so many benefits for nothing? I have to take responsibility.¡± Shao He suppressed the feeling of loss in her heart, constantly finding excuses for herself.
Yun Qian was reassured to hear her say this and did not continue to inquire. He changed the subject, bringing up the Cold Effervescent Powder.
¡°This time, we made a good amount of silver from selling the Cold Effervescent Powder. I¡¯ll give you half of the dividend first.¡±
Yun Qian hadn¡¯t expected that her concoction, which didn¡¯t need to be boiled over fire, would initially meet with disbelief from the people, who thought the medicine was just a ruse to swindle silver.
Later, when a patient took it and experienced an extraordinary effect, feeling much relief from the symptoms the next day, that turned out to be more convincing than all the guarantees they could offer.
Shao He didn¡¯t stand on ceremony with him, as right now she really needed a lot of silver. After receiving the silver, she began considering buying a house.
Living here all the time with her child and maid wasn¡¯t appropriate; after all, gold and silver nests are not as good as one¡¯s own little nest. She couldn¡¯t continue to trouble Yun Qian forever, even renting a house would be an option.
In the following days, Shao He saw a few patients who came for home visits and took the opportunity to look at a few houses, but the prices were beyond her expectations, and she finally could only think about looking some more.
Pei Huaian hadn¡¯t appeared at all during this time, which made her go from initial worry to gradually getting used to his absence.
Just like she had said, her concern for Pei Huaian was because of his illness, perhaps with an additional feeling of friendship.
In a busy life, there wasn¡¯t time to dwell on it too much.
After another half month passed, an unwee guest came to the peaceful clinic, sitting in a chair with an expression full of disdain.
¡°Climbing out from a pile of corpses, reading a few books, and having the audacity to treat people¡ªit really takes luck like yours to randomly run into dead mice like a blind cat.¡±
The person looking for trouble was Liang Weishuang, who had heard from Luo Jiner that Shao He was not dead and also wanted to take this opportunity to enter the Marquis¡¯s Mansion. That¡¯s why she specifically came to cause trouble.
When Shao He recognized her face, she quickly understood from the original owner¡¯s memory that this person had always been infatuated with Chu Yu and guessed that she must have been used by someone else.
And that someone else, if not Luo Jiner, she really couldn¡¯t think of anyone else!
However, in her memory, although Liang Weishuang often teased her, she didn¡¯t harbor any bad intentions and only did many childish things without ever harming her.
¡°Would you like to be that dead mouse so that I, the blind cat, can chance upon you?¡± Shao He asked with a calm expression, her tone very t.
¡°You!¡± Liang Weishuang was left at a loss for words by this retort.
With displeasure, she said, ¡°Don¡¯t be so smug here. If you¡¯re so capable, tell me what illness I have on my body.¡±
¡°Would thedy please extend her hand? I don¡¯t have the skill to diagnose pulses from afar,¡± Shao He replied with a slight lift of her eyebrows.
Liang Weishuang sneered and stretched out her hand, not believing that this woman truly had any skill. She thought she knew all about Shao He¡¯s abilities.
After the diagnosis, Shao He coldly stated, ¡°Thedy should often experience painful menstruation, and you also suffer from nightmares.¡±
When she mentioned these two conditions, Liang Weishuang¡¯s face momentarily showed surprise. She then realized that she had consulted many doctors for her conditions, so it was normal for Shao He to be aware of them.
¡°You¡¯re just repeating what others have told you, thinking you¡¯re so capable,¡± Liang Weishuang retorted.
Seeing this, Shao He did not get angry. Now, with Liang Weishuang brainwashed by Luo Jiner, whatever she said was useless. So why waste words?
She didn¡¯t need to prove her medical skills to anyone. Those who believed would believe, and those who didn¡¯t would not be persuaded by anything she said. It was better to shut those people up with her abilities.
¡°Doctor Shao, are you here? That¡¯s wonderful.¡±

No sooner had she spoken than Lady Jhiang and Jhiang Yijia walked in with generous gifts. The servant boy ced the tray down, which wasden with precious gold, silver, jewelry, as well as silk and brocade.
¡°What is the meaning of this, Lady Jhiang?¡± Seeing their beaming faces, Shao He guessed something good must have happened.
Indeed, the next second, Lady Jhiang said with a smile, ¡°Yijia is pregnant.¡±
¡°Congrattions!¡±
Jhiang Yijia¡¯s cheeks flushed slightly as she said shyly, ¡°Thank you, Doctor Shao.¡±

Chapter 52: Chapter 53: Why Are You So Nervous?
¡°It¡¯s for the best that it is so, otherwise¡ª¡± Yan Ze¡¯s lips curled into an arc, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits.
¡°Master Yan, the Old Madam insists that I am thedy of the marquis mansion and is determined to forcefully take me and the child back to the Marquis¡¯s Mansion. She even threatens that if I do not agree, she will make it impossible for me to stay in this ce.¡±
Shao He, sensing that Old Madam Chu seemed to harbor some fear towards the young man, quickly spoke up, knowing that the person before them was none other than the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, Yan Ze, and immediatelyid out the situation.
Just as Old Madam Chu was about to exin, Yan Ze promptly hinted, ¡°Old Madam Chu had better think clearly before she speaks, the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan has already been buried, and I even went to pay my respects.¡±
¡°I¡¡±
¡°Moreover, the Madam Marquis had an imperial edict upon her. If the affairs reported by Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion are false, that would amount to deceiving the emperor! You must be aware of the severity of deceiving the emperor, Old Madam. No need for me to spell it out, you surely understand it better than anyone.¡±
Yan Ze did not even give her a chance to speak, directly pointing out the gravity of the issue¡ªthe death of thedy of the marquis mansion was an unchangeable fact.

Old Madam Chu¡¯splexion turned unsightly in an instant, fully aware of the grave consequence of deceiving the emperor. If exploited by those with ulterior motives, at best it would lead to the destruction of the household, at worst, the extermination of nine generations!
Old Madam Chu¡¯s lips quivered slightly, her gazeplex as she stared at the person before her.
Yan Ze¡¯s words were not only a warning to the Old Madam but also to the Pingnan Marquis¡¯s Mansion behind her!
Who was Yan Ze? If he truly wanted to seal Pingnan Marquis¡¯s Mansion, the Marquis of Pingnan wouldn¡¯t even have the chance to resist, and it would likely affect Chu Yu as well.
Old Madam Chu¡¯s mind spun rapidly, eventually opting topromise.
With a strained smile, she awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth, ¡°It was my old eyes that mistook you for someone else. I heard that this young female doctor¡¯s medical skills were exceptional and specially came for a consultation. I didn¡¯t expect her to be too proud to treat me because of her reputation, which led to our argument.¡±
¡°In that case, how about we let this be a minor matter for the sake of my face?¡± said Yan Ze, effectively giving Old Madam Chu a generous amount of face and a way out.
Immediately smiling, Old Madam Chu said, ¡°Since Young Master Yan has spoken, I won¡¯t pursue the matter further.¡±
Suppressing the anger in her heart, Old Madam Chu couldn¡¯t very well make a scene in front of Yan Ze.
¡°Thank you for your understanding, Old Madam Chu,¡± Yan Ze said politely, then proceeded to push the wheelchair towards the inner chamber.
Standing in ce, Shao He furrowed her brows, lost in thought.
Pei Huaian nced at her, his lips parting slightly, ¡°What are you dawdling for? Come inside.¡±
Coming back to her senses, Shao He followed his steps into the room. Old Madam Chu, with a smile stered on her face, watched as they disappeared before her eyes, then turned and left.
Following beside Yan Ze, Shao He couldn¡¯t help but feel uneasy as she caught a glimpse of the sinister expression on Old Madam Chu¡¯s face from the corner of her eye.
Noticing Shao He¡¯s unease, Pei Huaian looked at him and asked, ¡°What¡¯s the matter?¡±
Shao He shook her head. With things as they were, all that could be done was to cope with events as they arose and confront the challenges when they came.
Once inside the back courtyard, Shao He bowed and said, ¡°Thank you both for your timely rescue. If you have any needs in the future, I will do my utmost to help.¡±
Pei Huaian began to exin, ¡°I was caught up with something, so I didn¡¯te for a month, and it seems my leg has gotten worse.¡±
Shao He felt his pulse and inspected his leg, saying in a grave tone, ¡°The condition has indeed worsened, but thankfully it¡¯s not too severe.¡±
As she spoke, Shao He began the acupuncture treatment.
Pei Huaian was very cooperative, and a certain understanding seemed to exist between them, one that required no words to know what the other wished to do.
Yan Ze¡¯s eyes roamed curiously back and forth between the two, a hint of curiosity in his gaze.
Whether it was the rtionship between the female doctor and Pei Huaian or her formidable medical skills, both piqued Yan Ze¡¯s interest.
Seeing the acupuncture treatment conclude, Yan Ze couldn¡¯t restrain his curiosity and asked, ¡°Your medical skills are so impressive, miss; may I ask who taught you, and why you ended up in a medical hall?¡±
¡°I¡¯d rather not say,¡± Pei Huaian answered before anyone else, rolling his eyes at him.
Yan Zeughed with ill-intent, ¡°I was just asking casually, why so nervous?¡±

¡°That¡¯s right, abusing their status to oppress themon people.¡±
¡°Everyone¡¯s waiting to see the doctor, so why should she be allowed to jump the queue!¡±
¡°Heh, can¡¯t help it, who lets them have an imperialmand? Ordinary folks like us dare not provoke them.¡± Shao He¡¯s tone was rather helpless, but her words were clearly fanning the mes, guiding public opinion, pressuring Old Madam Chu.
Fearing the incident would tarnish the reputation of Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, Old Madam Chu reluctantly got up and went to the back of the line.
There were many patients that day, and it wasn¡¯t until almost noon that it was Old Madam Chu¡¯s turn. She sat down and went straight to the point, ¡°Where¡¯s my grandson?¡±
¡°Mass Burial Mound.¡± Shao He¡¯s response was simple and clear.
¡°You¡¯re talking nonsense!¡± Old Madam Chu red at her angrily.
¡°Whether it¡¯s nonsense or not, the Old Madam can just ask the Marquis, why waste your breath here with me?¡± Shao He said with a coldugh.
The Old Madam¡¯s chest heaved with suppressed rage. Just as she was about to m the table in anger, Shao He said calmly, ¡°I would advise the Old Madam to think thrice before acting. If you happen to run into Master Yan, it might be tough to exin yourself.¡±
After hearing this, the Old Madam pressed down her raging fury and forced a stiff smile, trying to reason with her, ¡°Your current situation is not good, and having the child with you is all harm and no benefit. Why not let me take the child back to raise? You can see him whenever you want.¡±
¡°No need.¡± Shao He¡¯s rejection was cold; no one would take her child away from her.
¡°How can you bear to watch such a small child suffer with you? If you are willing to give the child to the Marquis¡¯s Mansion, I guarantee you won¡¯t have to worry about food or clothing, and you can continue to see patients here if you like,¡± Old Madam Chu continued to persuade gently.
Shao He¡¯s coldness deepened at her lips. Old Madam Chu probably didn¡¯t know that it was her precious grandson who had personally dispatched her and her child to the Mass Burial Mound, never intending for them to live.
¡°I¡¯d rather the child suffer with me than hand him over to you!¡±
Old Madam Chu¡¯s eyes turned sinister, and she lowered her voice to threaten, ¡°I have many ways to kill you and Anji Hall. Think carefully about the consequences before you refuse!¡±
Shao He fearlessly met her sinister gaze, ¡°If the Old Madam doesn¡¯t wish to see a doctor, please leave. As for the child, you need not worry about him. His father was a Schr and he¡¯s already dead!¡±
Seeing Shao He so defiant, Old Madam Chu¡¯s repressed anger finally erupted.
¡°You worthless wretch, don¡¯t push your luck, thinking that just because you have Master Yan¡¯s protection, you¡¯ll be safe. Look at yourself and what your station is.¡±
¡°If my great-grandson stays with a shameless woman like you, he will never be able to lift his head again!¡±
¡°Shao He, oh Shao He, how could you stoop to such filthy acts, lingering among all sorts of men every day?¡±
¡°A woman like you is a disgrace to our Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, you¡¯vepletely lost our face!¡±
Old Madam Chu pointed at Shao He, spittle flying, her harsh words cursing her vehemently, with every ugly and foul slur spewing from her mouth.
After speaking, she reached out to grab Shao He¡¯spel, but Shao He agilely dodged her grab.
Old Madam Chu almost fell from that missed grab and, infuriated, steadied herself before ring at Shao He and demanding, ¡°What kind of attitude is this? Dare to treat me like this, are you trying to turn the world upside down?¡±
¡°I¡¯m telling you, you won¡¯t get away this time!¡±
Shao He let out a coldugh, ¡°Since you¡¯vee today, I might as well tell you clearly, you¡¯re not wee here!¡±
Old Madam Chu burst into a scornfulugh, ¡°Hehe¡ good, very good, I¡¯ve never seen such an insolent and arrogant wild girl who dares to defy my words.¡±
Shao He raised an eyebrow and scoffed with a mock smile, ¡°And who are you exactly that I should respect you?¡±
Old Madam Chu trembled with fury, ¡°Indeed, you¡¯ve grown audacious, not even having regard for your elder like me. You¡¯re quite fierce!¡±
Shao He¡¯s eyes narrowed slightly as she coldly regarded Old Madam Chu.
¡°Old Madam, please leave immediately, otherwise, I won¡¯t hesitate to show you out!¡±
Shao He¡¯s tone was very strong and icy, even carrying a hint of danger.
Stunned by Shao He¡¯s words, Old Madam Chu suddenly burst into loudughter after a moment.
¡°Haha¡¡±
Then, with her handkerchief covering her mouth, Old Madam Chuughed and gasped, ¡°Show me out?¡±
¡°I¡¯d like to see just how capable you really are.¡±
Shao He nced indifferently at Old Madam Chu, her expression as calm as if the Old Madam were nothing more than a jumping clown.
Her lips curled into a faint smile, and she spoke slowly, ¡°I don¡¯t care how powerful Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion is, I¡¯ll never allow anyone to harm me and my child, including you¡¡±
¡°I advise the Old Madam to do more good deeds, lest you suffer from nder and find that fate has ordained you to be without the blessings of descendants.¡±@@novelbin@@
Chapter 58 - 59: This Marquis Will Never Spare You
Chapter 58: Chapter 59: This Marquis Will Never Spare You
Outside the door, Yun Qian turned and entered the room. Chu Yu wanted to follow, but Yan Ze stopped him.
¡°Marquis, there¡¯s no need to be anxious. Let¡¯s just wait here patiently,¡± Yan Ze suggested.
Chu Yu, seeing this, could only stop and fixed his eyes intensely on the tightly shut door.
Inside the room, having undergone a previous surgery, Yun Qian was not much surprised by the sudden appearance of these objects. He had seen them once before and had great faith in Shao He¡¯s medical skills.
Shao He told him to do something, and he did it without any doubt or hesitation.
Shao He looked at the trembling person andforted, ¡°Nanny, don¡¯t be nervous. You won¡¯t feel any pain. It will be like having a dream.¡±
An anesthetic was injected into Nanny, followed by a small incision in the navel area. A Veress needle was inserted through the incision to insufte the abdomen with carbon dioxide. This was followed by a trocar puncture, and finally, paroscopic observation.
After the surgery, they checked for any internal bleeding or organ damage, removed theparoscope, expelled the intra-abdominal gas, removed the trocar, and stitched the abdominal incision.
The surgery was very sessful. Yun Qian, watching, was overwhelmingly excited and somewhat doubted whether all this had really happened.
Shao Hey weakly on the table. She really did not have any strength left now.
¡°Are you okay?¡± Yun Qian asked worriedly.
¡°It¡¯s nothing, just a bit dizzy,¡± Shao He knew this was due to her use of the YS system, which, consuming a lot of mental energy, caused dizziness and blurred vision. She would be fine after some rest.
The crowd had been anxiously waiting outside the door until Shao He pushed open the door and stepped out.
All eyes immediately turned towards her, even Yan Ze couldn¡¯t help but look over.
¡°The surgery was very sessful, and Nanny Zhang will be awake in half an hour,¡± she said softly.
The people heard her clearly and cheers erupted.
@@novelbin@@
¡°That¡¯s great! I always said Doctor Shao had superb medical skills. If she said it could be done, it could be done!¡±
¡°Exactly, Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills are truly incredible.¡±
Luo Jiner, unwilling to see Shao He praised so highly, bit her lower lip and said softly, ¡°The person hasn¡¯t even woken up yet. Why the hurry? Is it just because you say she¡¯s fine that she¡¯s fine?¡±
Shao He couldn¡¯t be bothered to argue with her; she needed to rest properly now.
After a short while, Nanny Zhang was wheeled out of the room to be transferred to another room.
Seeing Nanny Zhang awake, everyone was even more convinced of Shao He¡¯s unparalleled medical skills.
Luo Jiner could not believe that someone could survive after having their abdomen cut open, but the truth was right in front of her eyes, forcing her to acknowledge it.
¡°This, this must be Doctor Yun¡¯s doing. Otherwise, why would Shao He have called him inside?¡± Luo Jiner reluctantly let the credit go to Shao He, but her words were met with disbelief.
Old Madam Chu pondered for a moment and then sat down, reaching out her hand.
¡°I¡¯ve had a headache for ten years, do you have a way to cure it?¡±
She had one goal in mind, to test whether Shao He really knew medical science.
Old Madam Chu¡¯s little trick, how could Shao He not understand? She reached out and took her pulse, then withdrew her hand shortly after.
¡°Old Madam, you often suffer from back pain, dizziness, swelling headaches, difficulty falling asleep, frequent dreams, easy awakening, daytime sleepiness, heart palpitations, chest tightness, ringing in the ears, right?¡±
Old Madam Chu¡¯s face changed slightly, indeed, her condition was as described.
Seeing her unusual expression, Shao He continued, ¡°Old Madam¡¯s condition is not severe but tricky, and needs to be cooperated with adjustment.¡±
¡°You mean¡¡± Old Madam Chu¡¯s eyes twinkled with hope.
Shao He nodded, ¡°What I mean is¡¡±
¡°Shao He, you¡¯re talking nonsense! Who knows if what you are saying is true? I think you don¡¯t know how to save anyone at all, your so-called medical skills are just a farce to draw public attention,¡± Luo Jiner couldn¡¯t hold back anymore and furiously pointed at Shao He¡¯s nose, scolding her.
Seeing her act like a shrew, the crowd frowned and shook their heads.
Shao He simply ignored her. Why bother with a barking dog?
¡°Old Madam, if you wish not to use my prescription, feel free to seek someone more capable.¡±
¡°Give me your prescription,¡± Old Madam Chu took a deep breath and asked calmly.
Shao He¡¯s lips curled slightly, and she took out the paper and pen she had prepared beforehand to write the prescription.
Chu Yu took the prescription to get the medicine. When he heard it cost twenty taels of silver, he was so angry that he almost tore the prescription in his hand and red ferociously at Shao He as if he wanted to devour her.
¡°Is this medical hall a ck shop? Why is the medicine so expensive?¡±
Shao He put on an innocent face and spread her hands, ¡°Can¡¯t help it, these are all brain-nourishing medicines. How can they not be expensive? Besides, isn¡¯t it hard to raise you to be this old? Her brain¡¯s probably exhausted.¡±
¡°You!¡±
¡°Oh, I didn¡¯t say Old Madam has no brain, I just meant that she¡¯s too hardworking and uses her brain too much,¡± Shao He hastily added, trying to cover up.
The crowd burst intoughter.
Chu Yu, seething with anger, threatened Shao He fiercely, ¡°Remember this, Marquis will never let you off.¡±
¡°I await your pleasure.¡±
¡°Hmph!¡± With that, Chu Yu angrily left.
Luo Jiner carefully followed behind, whispering, ¡°Marquis, perhaps we should let the Imperial Physician check the prescription before administering it to Old Madam, just to avoid any mishaps.¡±
Chapter 59 - 60: Delivered by Young Master Pei
Chapter 59: Chapter 60: Delivered by Young Master Pei
Chu Yu nced at her and, finding her words reasonable, had someone send the prescription to the Imperial Medical Bureau for examination.
Yan Ze stepped forward, with a smile, said, ¡°Doctor Shao truly is formidable. Even Old Madame Chu from the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion couldn¡¯t gain an advantage over you.¡±
He was bing more and more curious about this female doctor. Why was the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion so insistent on keeping her? What kind of involvement was there?
¡°Master Yan tters me. I simply treated others as they treated me,¡± Shao He calmly replied.
At this moment, a constable hurried over and whispered a few words in Yan Ze¡¯s ear.
¡°Doctor Shao, I have urgent matters to attend to. Let¡¯s end our conversation here for today and chat another time when I am free,¡± Yan Ze said as he sped his hands in farewell and left.
Shao He watched his departing figure for a moment, then withdrew her gaze to continue diagnosing others.
After a day of seeing patients, Yun Qian came over with a freshly brewed cup of Longjing tea and pushed the cup toward her.
¡°How do you n to handle the matter of household registration?¡± Yun Qian asked softly, his deep ck eyes gazing at her intently.
Shao He, blowing on the teacup, responded methodically, ¡°I intend to solve it myself.¡±
Hearing this, Yun Qian frowned slightly, ¡°The issue of household registration is not as simple as you think. I believe you should ask Young Master Pei for help.¡±
At the mention of Pei Huaian¡¯s name, Shao He¡¯s brow furrowed tighter, ¡°I¡¯ve already troubled him too many times. I don¡¯t want to ask for his help again.¡±
¡°But he can help you escape this predicament.¡±
¡°¡¡±
After a moment of silence, Shao He lifted her head to look at him seriously, ¡°I n to seek help from Mr. Jhiang. He is, after all, the Minister of the Household. He should be able to help with this matter.¡±
¡°That could work, but I fear¡¡± Yun Qian didn¡¯t finish his sentence, not wanting to dash her hopes. He worried that things were often easier said than done.
Shao He seemed to understand his concerns and said with a light smile, ¡°I n to visit the Jhiang Family tomorrow. We¡¯ll see if it can be done then.¡±
¡°Then I¡¯ll apany you,¡± he offered.
¡°There¡¯s no need. I can manage on my own.¡±
Seeing her determination, Yun Qian found it inappropriate to say more. He had intended to send her home in a carriage but she declined, not wanting to draw attention to herself.
On the way back, the night was pitch ck. Shao He took a deep breath of the chilly air, felt the brisk wind, and nced back before quickening her pace.
In a narrow alley, her figure disappeared from sight.
The person who had followed her stopped and turned their head, scanning the surroundings. ¡°Where¡¯s the person?¡±
¡°Looking for me?¡±
The sudden voice startled the searcher, and before they could react, Shao He was already in front of the man, with a dagger at his throat, her expression dark.
¡°Who are you, and why are you following me in the dead of night!¡±
The man didn¡¯t speak, but his expression was evasive as he said, ¡°I wasn¡¯t following you, I just happened to be passing by.¡±
Shao He kicked him in the chest, sending him tumbling to the ground. She then tied him up and threw him into the corner of the alley, stuffing a piece of his tunic into his mouth and giving him a good beating.
¡°Mmm, mmm,¡± the man seemed to want to say something, but by this point, Shao He no longer wished to listen, only stopping when she grew tired.
¡°Go back and tell your master, if he dares send someone to follow me again, it won¡¯t end with just a beating!¡±
After another kick, Shao He dusted off her clothes and left the alley.
Shao He returned to the small courtyard and, hearing the child¡¯s cries, quickened her steps toward the room.
Qingxia was bustling about, trying to swaddle the child and soothe him continuously.
¡°Don¡¯t cry, don¡¯t cry, be good, little young master.¡±
Unfortunately, her words didn¡¯t seem to have any effect. Xiao Linzhang continued to cry incessantly.

Shao He entered the room, took the child, unfolded the small nket, and rewrapped him before lifting him up to gently lull him.
¡°Be good, Xiao Linzhang, don¡¯t cry.¡±
¡°Sleep now, sleep now, my darling, my dear little one.¡±
Xiao Linzhang quieted down in Shao He¡¯s arms, his eyelids slowly closed, and he suckled sweetly into sleep.
¡°The little young master is too attached to the miss. He won¡¯t sleep until the misses back,¡± Qingxia said with a sigh.
No matter how they coaxed, the little young master never agreed to sleep early. He always had to wait for the miss to return.
¡°How has it beentely? Is Xiao Linzhang being obedient?¡± Shao He ced Xiao Linzhang on the bed, covered him with a thin nket, and asked.
Qingxia answered truthfully that they had always been about fighting and killing, with no experience in child-rearing, they could only grope their way through it.
Shao He could tell from their conversation that there were oversights in childcare, but it was understandable since they had never cared for a child before and might naturallyck in thorough care.
The next morning, Shao He woke up from her sleep and saw Xiao Linzhang, with wide eyes looking around, rubbed his chubby cheeks a few times.
Xiao Linzhang, excitedly waving his small arms, tried to grab her hair.
Shao He looked at the time and saw it was gettingte. She hurriedly dressed and changed Xiao Linzhang¡¯s clothes.
Admiring his plump little body but unable to resist it, she became transfixed on noticing something crystal clear on his neck.
There was a jade pendant around Xiao Linzhang¡¯s neck!
Shao He held the jade pendant to examine it and saw the three characters ¡°Shao Linzhang¡± were carved on it. A warmth emanated from the pendant, and a touch of difference flowed from her eyes; this was not an ordinary jade pendant but a piece of Warm Jade.
Warm Jade typically originated from jade stone veins and is very precious, with high market value and worth a fortune.
It is said that Warm Jade can make one feel warm in winter and also has health-preserving effects, greatly benefitting the body.
Qingxia answered with a smile, ¡°It was sent by Young Master Pei.¡±
Chapter 60 - 61 What a Good Girl
Chapter 60: Chapter 61 What a Good Girl
¡°Pei Huaian? How could he possibly know where we live?¡± Shao He¡¯s beautiful brows slightly furrowed, showing a look of surprise in her eyes.
Even Yun Qian didn¡¯t know she was staying here. How did Pei Huaian find out? Could it be that he had also sent someone to secretly follow her, which is how he knew her residence?
Qing Shan sighed, worrying this was a bad omen!
¡°Miss, this jade pendant was actually delivered to the shop by Ah Mo, who is an attendant of Young Master Pei, a few days ago. This servant was too busy at the time to remember to tell you, and only remembered yesterday when amusing the young master, thinking this Warm Jade was gentle enough to be worn by him.¡±
Hearing this, Shao He secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the Warm Jade in her hands, since it had already been sent here, there was certainly no reason to send it back.
But why would Pei Huaian be so kind to her? Could it be because of his leg ailment? However, he generally does not seem to care whether the injury on his leg heals or not.
Seeing the deep thoughts, Qing Shan politely coughed and said, ¡°Miss, you should wash up first.¡±
Shao He came back to her senses, casting aside the matter without further suspicion.
Qingxia and Qing Shan simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.
After eating, Xiao Linzhang started to act up again. Shao He took a few people to stroll in the courtyard, taking a day off with Yun Qian to go seek assistance from Jhiang Yijia regarding the household registration.
Having a rare idle day since entering the residence, she hadn¡¯t really had a chance to look around the yard properly.
The group strolled along the cobblestone path and came to the pavilion.
¡°Miss, this ce really has picturesque scenery; no wonder so many schrs and writers like to live reclusively in paradises like this. It¡¯s truly enviable!¡± Qingxia stood by theke, looking at the glittering surface of the water, filled with emotions.
¡°It is indeed beautiful.¡±
Shao He replied lightly, her gaze falling on the courtyard next to the willow trees by theke.
Following her gaze, Qing Shan¡¯s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that the Miss had suspicions?
¡°You said this is a secondary residence, next to it is arger residence with five courtyards, yet that house seems uninhabited?¡±
¡°Perhaps it has an owner,¡± Qingxia replied.
¡°Have you ever seen the owner of this courtyard?¡±
Shao He thought might be because she left early and returnedte, which had kept her from encountering the people across from her.
But with such arge residence, there would surely be some servants and other workers, yet she had never heard any voicesing from inside, which was indeed unusual.
Qingxia¡¯s eyes darted about, regretting her hasty words.
Respectfully, Qing Shan replied, ¡°Miss, don¡¯t listen to her nonsense. Maybe some wealthy people own many properties, only purchasing them to leave them uninhabited.¡±
Shao He nodded, not pursuing the question further.
Recalling the incident of being followedst night, her expression turned serious as she instructed them, ¡°Be more cautious these days. It¡¯s inevitable that some viins wille knocking.¡±
¡°Miss, don¡¯t worry. I and Qingxia will be more vignt,¡± Qing Shan quickly agreed.
¡
Leaving the residence, Shao He immediately headed to the Fang Family.
Previously, Jhiang Yijia had told her the address of the Fang Family, and Shao He easily found the ce.
Upon her arrival, the servants there informed her that Jhiang Yijia and Fang Jue had gone to a temple outside the city to pray for blessings and might not return until evening. With no other choice, she had to go alone to the Jhiang Residence.
The Jhiang Residence faced south with a vastpound, high walls, and a bustling gateway.
Lady Jhiang, knowing of her arrival, personally came out to wee her into the residence and instructed the maid to serve tea and pastries.
¡°Doctor Shao, how do you have time to visit the Jhiang Residence today? Why not stay for lunch before you leave?¡± Lady Jhiang smiled warmly, making small talk with Shao He.
Shao He nodded slightly, declining Lady Jhiang¡¯s hospitality, and said politely, ¡°Thank you for the invitation, but I am here to seek Master Jhiang¡¯s assistance with a matter.¡±
Lady Jhiang looked surprised. ¡°Doctor, have you encountered some difficult issue?¡±
Shao He shook her head, ¡°It¡¯s about household registration.¡±
¡°Household registration?¡±
Lady Jhiang frowned, taking a moment to understand what she meant before her expression became serious. ¡°Doctor, are you here concerning the registration for your child?¡±
¡°Exactly, so I was hoping to ask Master Jhiang for help.¡±
¡°There¡¯s little I can do about it,¡± Lady Jhiang sighed with a troubled look. ¡°The issue of registration is veryplicated and even the Marquis has pressured the Minister of Revenue as well as my husband, with the Imperial Censor keeping watch ¡ ¡± she nced at Shao He, then hesitated.
Upon hearing this, Shao He instantly understood. They say that each level of official rank is an addedyer of pressure; what more when the Marquis himself intervenes, then naturally, no one dares to defy his will. It seems the matter of the registration is indeed troublesome.
She never liked to impose on others. Since the Jhiang Family couldn¡¯t help, she had no choice but to look elsewhere.
Lady Jhiang looked apologetic and didn¡¯t know what else to say, but she was truly powerless in this matter.
¡°Doctor Shao ¡ ¡±
¡°Lady Jhiang, don¡¯t feel guilty. Being able to help is kindness; not being able to is the norm. I will not insist on anything. It makes no sense to offend the Marquis for my sake,¡± Shao He said gently, waving her hand.
Relieved upon hearing this, Lady Jhiang, who had not known Shao He well, admired her openness and intelligence. This Doctor Shao indeed seemed more insightful than most women.
¡°Then, Doctor, you might have to look elsewhere. If you need any silver, just let me know,¡± Lady Jhiang said, hoping to offer some little help.
¡°Thank you.¡± Shao He bowed her head in gratitude, not dwelling on the issue, and stood to take her leave.
Lady Jhiang watched her silhouette disappear, sighing deeply, ¡°Such a nice girl, why does the Marquis have to make things difficult for her?¡±
Shao He exited the Jhiang Residence, raising her hand to shield her eyes from the ring sun, leisurely walking down the street.
Having thought she could rely on the Jhiang Family to secure a household registration, she now knew she would have to find another solution.
She had just stepped out of the Jhiang Residence when she heard footsteps beside her.
¡°Isn¡¯t this Doctor Shao? What a coincidence.¡± A mocking voice rose behind her.@@novelbin@@

Shao He turned around, only to see Chu Yu approaching, dressed in splendid garments with a jade crown securing his hair.
Annoyed at the narrowness of the path that brought enemies together, Shao He had no wish to entangle with such a person, yet he obstinately blocked her way as if looking for trouble. With no other choice, she had to stop.
Chu Yu, seeing her impatience, sneered coldly, ¡°What¡¯s the matter? Are you scared?¡±
Shao He huffed lightly, indifferent, ¡°Scared of what?¡±
@@novelbin@@
Chu Yu stared at her with a sullen expression, ¡°You are now alone, merely a young female doctor of lowly status, a disgrace to the Imperial Censorate. No wonder they disown you as their daughter.¡±
Having said this, Chu Yu felt a sense of exhration, looking down on her with disdain. Such a status was worse than death, living was only suffering.
¡°Marquis, you are mistaken. My parents have not disowned me, and moreover¡¡± Shao He narrowed her eyes, ncing at him before breaking into a cold smile, ¡°What does the Imperial Censorate¡¯s acknowledgement have to do with you?¡±
As the sound of her voice faded, Shao He walked past him to continue forward.
Chu Yu¡¯s face turned as ck as the bottom of a pot, and he shouted furiously, ¡°Stop!¡±
Shao He raised her eyebrows, turned around unhurriedly to face him, her mouth curled in a mocking smile, ¡°Does the Marquis have something else to say?¡±
¡°Shao He, don¡¯t push your luck. I am asking you onest time, where is the child? If you don¡¯t tell me¡ Ha! Do not me the Marquis for being impolite!¡± Chu Yu threatened venomously.
Shao He curled her lips, shing a yful expression, ¡°Oh? What is the Marquis nning to do? Have someone take me to the official residence? Or poison me and dump me at Mass Burial Mound, or perhaps burn me to death? Surely you wouldn¡¯t go as far as tomit murder?¡±
Hearing this, Chu Yu¡¯s cheeks twitched violently, and he gritted his teeth, ¡°You dare threaten the Marquis!¡±
Shao He shrugged her shoulders, her tone light, ¡°I wouldn¡¯t dare, but I do know that angering the Marquis would not bode well for me.¡±
She quickly changed the subject, her words dripping with sarcasm, ¡°Just like Miss Luo and Old Madam Chu, ipatible as fire and water, continue like this and you will both be ruined.¡±
Old Madam Chu had always looked down on Luo Jiner. Old Madam¡¯s standards were very high; she even despised her own son, the Imperial Censor, let alone a mere maidservant.
¡°You¡¡±
¡°Oh, speaking of the Old Madam, it just urred to me, I wonder if her headache has gotten any better?¡± Shao He interjected before Chu Yu could speak.
Because he knew Chu Yu was a filial grandson, who definitely cared even more about his grandmother¡¯s illness.
True to his expectations, Chu Yu¡¯s anger subsided as he recalled the Imperial Physician saying the prescription was good and that the Old Madam¡¯s symptoms had indeed lessened after taking the medicine.
Even though she still asionally fell ill, it was much betterpared to before, which somewhat eased Chu Yu¡¯s mind.
He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the turmoil in his heart, and spoke in as calm a tone as he could manage, ¡°How did you learn medical skills? I remember you didn¡¯t know anything like that before.¡±
Shao He spread her hands, retorting innocently, ¡°The Marquis only remembers doting on your favored consort, when did you ever have the time to care about me?¡±
¡°Why should I care about you? You are a malicious woman; your actions are shameless. You don¡¯t evenpare to one-tenth of Jiner!¡±
¡°Oh, is that so?¡± Shao He responded nomittally, then swiftly changed the subject, ¡°Actually, I quite admire Old Madam Chu, for raising such a filial grandson like yourself. Half of Old Madam¡¯s headache is indeed thanks to the Marquis¡¯ efforts.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s face turned a shade of green, his fists creaking in anger, ¡°Are you insinuating that I am disloyal and unrighteous?¡±
¡°I wouldn¡¯t presume so,¡± Shao He shook her head lightly, ¡°If the Marquis does not wish to listen, you are free to leave.¡±
¡°You¡¡±
Shao He looked at his furious expression with great pleasure, continuing, ¡°As a Doctor, I feel obligated to remind the Marquis to let the Old Madam rest more often, not to overthink things. It is said that anger harms the body, and this saying isn¡¯t false at all.¡±
It was evident from Shao He¡¯s words that the cause of Old Madam Chu¡¯s headache was excessive worry and anger.
Chu Yu¡¯s eyes bulged with fury, veins pulsing on his forehead, his hand clenched into a fist by his side.
¡°Marquis, please step aside.¡± Shao He extended her hand, pushing him aside, and walked straight ahead.
Chu Yu, unustomed to being ignored, grabbed Shao He¡¯s wrist and demanded in a severe tone, ¡°The Marquis can forgive and forget, as long as you hand over that cmity!¡±
Everyone could live, except for that child¡ªthat was the greatest humiliation and irony for Chu Yu.
After a moment of futile struggle, Shao He resigned herself to being dragged by him.
¡°The Marquis should watch his words!¡±

With that, he raised his right hand and swung fiercely towards Shao He.
Shao He was hardly going to stand there and be hit; as she braced herself for a fight, Chu Yu¡¯s wrist was struck by a stone.

Chu Yu, wincing in pain, lowered his hand, and Shao He took the opportunity to slip out of his grasp, looking up at the person approaching in a wheelchair.
¡°The Marquis is quite imposing, to openly bully a weak woman in broad daylight. If word of this gets out, others might think the Marquis is persecuting amoner girl. I wonder what kind of punishment the Marquis would receive if The Emperor were to me you for this.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s face changed as he squinted at the neer.
Pei Huaian, dressed in a ck robe, exuded an extraordinary presence. Even seated in a wheelchair, his aura was unmatched.
Chu Yu looked at him and suddenly remembered this was the man who had been with Yan Ze that day, and Yan Ze seemed to respect him greatly.
Pei Huaian nced at him, then turned to Shao He and asked with concern, ¡°Are you alright?¡±
¡°Who are you?¡± Chu Yu asked doubtfully.
¡°Who I am is not important,¡± Pei Huaian replied sternly, piercing through Chu Yu¡¯s fa?ade. ¡°What¡¯s important is that the Marquis should be mindful of his status to avoid giving others leverage against him.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s expression fluctuated wildly, ring hatefully yet with a hint of apprehension because of Pei Huaian¡¯s apparent association with Yan Ze. He was, therefore, forced to swallow his anger.
¡°The Marquis was merely inquiring about Doctor Shao¡¯s grandmother¡¯s illness and may have acted excessively out of concern for her condition,¡± Chu Yu offered as an exnation for why he had detained Shao He.
Pei Huaian did not expose him, merely nodding slightly. ¡°I hope the Marquis will avoid rash actions in the future, so as not to ruin your promising future.¡±
Chu Yu left with a dark face and silent, but not before his cunning eyes nced at the man in the wheelchair and made an excuse to leave.
After the man had gone far, Shao He dropped her pretense and looked at Pei Huaian with a frown. ¡°Young Master Pei, such a coincidence?¡±
¡°It was nothing inconvenient,¡± Pei Huaian replied with a warm smile, looking down nonchntly at the Jade Ring on his finger.
¡°Why is it that Young Master Pei always happens to appear at such opportune moments? Could it be you have someone watching over me?¡± Shao He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Pei Huaian looked at her in surprise, shaking his head with augh, ¡°Doctor Shao really has a way with jokes. I just happened to be passing by. If I truly had someone tailing you, how could you not have noticed?¡±
¡°In that case, Young Master Pei truly is a remarkable man. Not only are you noble in character, but you also seem to be quite skilled at assisting others in distress,¡± Shao He said with feigned admiration.
Pei Huaian chuckled and asked, ¡°Where is Doctor Shao headed?¡±
¡°To Anji Hall,¡± Shao He answered.
¡°I¡¯ll take you there. It¡¯s on my way, and it will prevent Chu Yu from showing up and troubling you unexpectedly.¡±
Shao He didn¡¯t refuse, nodding and saying, ¡°Thank you then.¡±
Considering Chu Yu¡¯s unpredictable temper, having Pei Huaian¡¯s protection did seem safer, so she didn¡¯t refuse.
Upon seeing him maneuvering the wheelchair by himself, Shao He walked behind him and started pushing the wheelchair forward slowly.
Pei Huaian was initially startled, then a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes.
Shao He¡¯s gaze fell on the hands grasping the wheelchair, well-defined and evenly proportioned; they were handsomely enviable.
Feeling her gaze, Pei Huaian turned his head to look at her, the corners of his mouth gradually curving into a wider smile.
Momentster, returning to her senses, Shao He met Pei Huaian¡¯s eyes, then quickly lowered her gaze, asking, ¡°Where are Young Master Pei¡¯s subordinates? Why are you alone?¡±
Pei Huaian looked away and replied softly, ¡°Subordinates need to rest too!¡±
Ah Mo, left behind by Pei Huaian, couldn¡¯t stop sneezing and could only follow from afar as his master moved further away.
From time to time, Shao He stole nces at Pei Huaian, observing his cool gaze, sharp and cold, which was generally unapproachable, and she wondered what a person like him would look like.
Noticing the Jade Ring on his hand, Shao He abruptly thought of the Warm Jade on Xiao Linzhang¡¯s neck and asked, ¡°That Warm Jade must be quite valuable. Where did you get it from? It must have cost a good amount of Silver?¡±
¡°It¡¯s just a piece of Warm Jade. Xiao Linzhang and I were fated, so I gave it to him as a gift. You needn¡¯t worry about it,¡± Pei Huaian exined indifferently, as if the jade he gave away wasn¡¯t costly.
Upon hearing this, a surge ofplex emotions welled up in Shao He, and she bowed her head in silence.
Pei Huaian nced at her, noting the faint worry in her brow, and asked, ¡°Did youe to the Jhiang Family for the child¡¯s household registration issue?¡±
Shao He looked up in surprise, her lips pursing quietly before responding. ¡°Yes, I just didn¡¯t expect that Chu Yu would be a step ahead of me. He pressured the Jhiang Family, so Master Jhiang couldn¡¯t help much.¡±
¡°What do you n to do now?¡± Pei Huaian asked with a raised eyebrow.
Shao He forced a smile, ¡°I¡¯ll think of something else.¡±
Pei Huaian frowned slightly, turned to her, and said, ¡°Actually, I can help with the household registration matter.¡±
Not wanting to bother Pei Huaian further, and also concerned he might offend Chu Yu, Shao He declined gently, ¡°No need, I¡¯ll think of other ways.¡±
Pei Huaian understood Shao He¡¯s concerns and knew she didn¡¯t want to trouble others, which is why she declined. He then took the opportunity to say, ¡°I have a distant rtive whose daughter has passed away. The household registration can be sorted out, and it¡¯s not very troublesome.¡±

Chapter 64: Chapter 65 I Won¡¯t Disappear for That Long Again
Old Madam Chu sighed and then tactically conceded by saying, ¡°Fine, I won¡¯t oppose Luo Jiner being the principal wife, but she must bear a child. We cannot let our Marquis¡¯s Mansion be without an heir.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s face lit up with surprise and he promptly asked, ¡°Grandmother, how are Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills?¡±
He was contemting letting Shao He treat Luo Jiner, especially since the news about Jhiang Yijia¡¯s pregnancy had spread far and wide; perhaps she truly had the ability.
Seeing that he didn¡¯t talk about the child and was only concerned with treating Luo Jiner¡¯s illness, Old Madam Chu could not help but reproachfully say, ¡°Can you bear to see your own child wandering outside and calling someone else father in the future?¡±
Chu Yu remembered today¡¯s unpleasant atmosphere between Shao He and the man in the wheelchair and was even more surprised by her change, but this still did not alter his desire to kill both Shao He and that child, simply because he feared the exposure of that matter.
¡°Grandmother, you need not worry about the child. Moreover, the child was extremely frail when born; it¡¯s uncertain whether it could even survive, so leaving it with Shao He for now is indeed safe.¡±
By saying this, Chu Yu was also paving the way for the future; whether he could bring the child back or not, he would not allow that misbegotten child to live, as it was a great insult to him.
Old Madam Chu became anxious upon hearing this and grabbed his hand, saying, ¡°Since it is so, you should bring the child back and let the Imperial Physician take a good look.¡±
¡°Grandmother, who do you think has better medical skills, the Imperial Physician or Doctor Shao? You needn¡¯t worry about this matter anymore.¡±
Chu Yu did not wish to continue this topic and immediately made his excuses, leaving in a hurry because of other pressing matters.
Old Madam Chu watched his retreating back and couldn¡¯t help sighing, feeling even more resentful that Luo Jiner was a vixen.
Chu Yu arrived at Luo Jiner¡¯s courtyard and saw the person who was sewing clothes, walking over.
¡°Haven¡¯t I said such matters can be handed to the servants? Why must you do it yourself?¡±
Luo Jiner, with a smile, looked up at the visitor, ¡°This is the Marquis¡¯s garment, naturally, I should sew it myself.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s lips curved into a slight smile, his irritation dissipating somewhat, and he said, ¡°I¡¯m thinking of asking Doctor Shao to treat you.¡±
Luo Jiner, not paying attention, pricked her finger and immediately yelped in pain.
Chu Yu was startled and quickly grasped her hand to check the wound, asking with concern, ¡°Does it hurt?¡±
Luo Jiner gently shook her head, withdrew her hand he was holding, picked up the needle and thread to start sewing again, and smiled, ¡°It¡¯s nothing.¡±
The pain made her furrow her brows slightly, but she still kept a smile on her face and asked softly, ¡°Why has the Marquis suddenly thought of having my sister treat me?¡±
¡°Grandmother said as long as you can conceive a child, you can be supported as the principal wife.¡±
Luo Jiner¡¯s eyes were cast down, and she didn¡¯t speak, as if considering Chu Yu¡¯s words.
After a moment, she slowly shook her head and said, ¡°I¡¯m just afraid that my sister holds a grudge in her heart and might use this as an opportunity to harm me.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s expression darkened, and he said coldly, ¡°She doesn¡¯t have the nerve to do that. Just let her treat you without worry. Besides, no one else can cure your condition except her.¡±
After discussing for a while, Luo Jiner finally agreed, the position as the Marquis¡¯s legitimate wife was too tempting, worth taking the risk to try. After all, her body was already in such a state, and if Shao He couldn¡¯t heal her, it could also be an opportunity to ruin her reputation.
The sky was densely covered with dark clouds, seemingly presaging a great snowstorm.
Leaning against the doorway, Shao He looked at the people hurrying outside, her expression indifferent as if she didn¡¯t feel the severe cold of winter, standing there quietly while the cold wind battered her.
¡°The household registration matter has been settled,¡± Yun Qian came over, handing her a hand warmer.

Shao He took it and said, ¡°Mmm, Young Master Pei said there¡¯s a rtive whose daughter passed away, which is perfect for transferring the registration.¡±
Yun Qian was not very surprised by this; he had guessed that it was Pei Huaian who had helped when he brought Shao He back today.
¡°That¡¯s good.¡±
Yun Qian¡¯s gaze fell on arge bag of herbs, knowing that she would take these herbs back to make frostbite ointment and cold remedies, and he suggested, ¡°It¡¯s somewhat inconvenient for you to carry all these herbs back alone. Why don¡¯t I escort you?¡±
¡°No need, I¡¯ve hired Nanny Zhang to take care of the child. She¡¯ll go back with me in a bit.¡± Shao He didn¡¯t want too many people to know her whereabouts; not only was it dangerous for her, but it was also risky for Yun Qian.
Nanny Zhang didn¡¯te but sent a deed of sale and a letter informing that she wanted to sell the house and deal with the aftermath before going to Shao He¡¯s residence.
After reading the letter, Shao He put the deed of sale inside her clothes, took the herbs, and was about to leave when a carriage suddenly stopped in front of her.
Seeing Ah Mo as the driver, she knew who was inside the carriage.
The carriage curtain was lifted, and Pei Huaian stated his purpose directly.
¡°Thest batch of frostbite ointment and cold remedies worked well. Could I order another batch?¡±
Shao He looked at the herbs in her hands and nodded reluctantly; she would be forced to take even more herbs back with her.
Seeing this, Yun Qian frowned and said, ¡°Those herbs are too heavy; let me take you both part of the way.¡±
Shao He, considering the volume of herbs, was about to agree when Ah Mo suddenly stepped forward with a bow and said, ¡°Doctor Shao, my master offers to take you part of the way and would also like to inquire further about his leg condition.¡±
Yun Qian¡¯s frown deepened, and he looked at Shao He, who didn¡¯t hesitate to agree, so he pursed his lips and remained silent.
Shao He boarded the carriage, inside was Pei Huaian, who gestured for her to sit beside him.
Shao He got right to the point after sitting down, ¡°Although I can treat your cold poison, you also need to cooperate. Likest time, noting in for treatment for an entire month will certainly aggravate your condition.¡±
She had intended to use the medicinal herbs to brew a decoction; however, such herbs were extremely precious, and her medical forms were quite special, unsuitable for nourishment and only for topical application at the beginning.
¡°I won¡¯t disappear for that long again,¡± Pei Huaian said seriously, looking at her like he was making a promise.
