 Chapter 1 One

    Jayda Wright tried to hold back tears as the Board announced her Partner of the most reputable law firm in the United States; Saunders and Co.


    It was indeed a well-deserved position for Jayda. She has been aiming for this position since the first time she interned as a paralegal in Saunders and Co. She worked her ass off, gave up everything relating to her social life and put her ALL in her job.


    At age 29, she was the youngest and the first female to become a Partner in Saunders and Co.


    No doubt being a partner comes with a lot of responsibilities but she was a hard worker so she knew she would survive.


    Apart from the responsibilities that came with her promotion, She was now like one of the owners of the firm hence, there would be a great increment in her salary, doubled benefits and most importantly, her name would be engraved on the door of her new office. What a dream come true for Jayda!


    "Thank you so much, Mr Tucker, I promise not to disappoint you." She said to the president of the firm who was in his early fifties.

    "You worked for it Jayda so you deserve the position. You hardly lose a case in court and no doubt your wins have contributed to the reputation of this law firm. I wish you all the best in this phase of your career and I hope you don''t disappoint us because we all look up to you now." Mr Tucker said.


    "You don''t have to worry about anything. I will work harder than I''ve ever worked in this law firm." She promised.


    Jayda was congratulated by other partners and senior associates in the conference room. They made a toast and made small conversations in between.


    As soon as Jayda was able to escape from the conference room, she went to her office (Aka her old office because she would be moving into her new office on Monday), she reached for her iPhone in her bag and dialled her best friend, Lilian.


    "Guess what Lily?" Jayda said excitedly as soon as Lilian picked up her call.


    "You just got laid?" Lilian teased which made Jayda roll her eyes.

    "You should go out to celebrate. It''s a pity I''m busy tonight. I have to complete the designs for a few dresses. The fashion show is tomorrow."


    "Don''t worry, we can still hang out tomorrow after your fashion show. I will probably hang out with Zach tonight."

    Jayda chuckled, "You have a dirty mind, Lilian. Anyways, I will see you at my place tomorrow evening."


    "Alright babe, congratulations once again, " Lilian said before she ended the call.


    Jayda decided to give her boyfriend, Zach a call to inform him about her promotion and that she will be pulling up at his place soon but he didn''t pick up after calling him twice.


    She spent the next thirty minutes offloading her drawers and other things she would need in her new office on Monday. After that, she reached for her handbag and laptop bag and made her way out of the building into her car.


    Before she started the engine, She called a restaurant to order food and dessert that will be enough for herself and Zach to celebrate.


    As soon as Jayda got to her apartment, She called her parents to give them the good news, then took a shower and started preparing to leave for her boyfriend''s place.


    Jayda was used to dressing professionally because of her line of career but she decided to go a little wild tonight by looking very sexy.     She heaved a sigh, pressed the doorbell and waited for Zach to open up.


    "Hey....." Jayda smiled as soon as she came face to face with Zach but the smile on her face slowly faded when she saw the stern look on his face. He looked like he was not happy to see her; like he was busy and needed her to say what she was here for and then leave.


    "Why are you here? Don''t you have some work to do?" He mocked.


    "Look, I''m sorr......" She was saying but he stopped her halfway.


    "Why are you here?" He demanded.


    "I got promoted as Partner at the firm so I thought we could celebrate. I came with something for us to eat." She gestured to the food bag she was holding.


    "I knew you would be partner one day because your job is the most important thing in your life, congratulations!"


    "What do you mean?" Jayda sounded hurt.


    "Do you know how many dinner dates I''ve planned which I had to cancel because you had something that came up with work? Or when you eventually showed up, all you did was talk about work, the cases you dealt with and some other random bullshit. You never even talked about us. For heaven''s sake, Jayda, you''re my girlfriend and it''s not even like you are."


    "Maybe we are not meant to be together so I think it''s time we go our separate ways."


    "Please Zach, Don''t break up with me. I promise I will change." Jayda pleaded, trying to hold back tears.


    "You were not even a partner and you didn''t have time for me. What do you think will happen now that you''re a partner?"


    "We are both workaholics, I have a family business and chain of hotels that I run but I still create time for us to be together. I want to start a family Jayda and clearly, you are not ready for that, you''re not ready to settle down and I''m ready."


    "To you, your Job comes first, you come second, your best friend comes third and I have no place in your life."


    Jayda opened her mouth to say something but couldn''t come up with any reasonable


    excuse because all that he said was true.


    "We never worked, Jayda and I can''t continue this way. Let us go our separate ways and I wish you all the best in this new phase of your career."


    Jayda was about to plead with him but stopped when a lady came to join Zach at the entrance.


    "It''s because of her you''re breaking up with me?" Jayda asked Zach as she took in the lady''s appearance.


    She was a little bit taller than Jayda and if possible, prettier. Jayda swallowed painfully in shame.


    Zach wrapped his arms around the girl''s waist. "She has nothing to do with our relationship. I''ve been wanting to cut it off for a while but I never got the chance to see you to have a proper conversation with you because of how busy you are."


    "I respect you so much that cheating on you is the last thing I will ever think of doing. I met Adriana a month ago and we are getting to know each other. We have a lot in common and she''s ready to start a family with me."


    "I wish you all the best in your career, Jayda. I''ve moved on and I hope you do too."


    Zach shut the door on her and immediately, the hot tears she was holding rolled down her cheeks. She left the food and wine she brought by his entrance and made her way back to her car.


    As soon as Jayda''s head hit the headrest of her car, she sobbed uncontrollably.


    She liked Zach, he was handsome, rich, successful, caring and humble but now she lost him because she never created time for him.


    She didn''t know chasing her dreams would cost her her relationship with Zach. Lilian, her best friend, had advised her on several occasions to create time for Zach but she turned deaf ears and now she lost him.


    Truthfully, he has been there for her more than she has been there for him. She cancelled 96% of their dates because of work-related reasons. They hardly talked about themselves since they made their relationship official about a year and six months ago. They could even go for a month without talking to each other. That was the extent to which their relationship sucked.


    After having a good cry in her car, Jayda started the engine and drove straight to the latest bar in town which was considered to be the most expensive. It was specifically made for high-class people.


    Without caring if she had stains of dried tears on her face, she walked elegantly into the bar, her head high, her clutch in her hands and with the intention of getting drunk.


    She made herself comfortable on a stool and told the bartender to mix her all the strong drinks they have. She had more than enough cash in her purse to pay for everything.


    Jayda has never been a fan of alcohol. She could count the few times she had taken strong alcoholic drinks and neither had she been to a club before. No matter how her best friend, Lilian, threatens her to attend one with her, she always came up with the perfect excuse not to go.

    Jayda had the most horrible look on her face when she took the first shot but she got comfortable with the taste by the time she took her third shot.

    After a very long day at work, having one meeting to the other and reviewing contracts with his lawyer, Sebastian Miller walked into Club 232. The most popular and expensive club in Miami.


    Everyone who works in the club knew him as a regular VIP customer. He showed up on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays to have some drinks and find a girl to fuck.

    "What did she say?" Sebastian asked, anger evident in his voice and eyes.


    "She said I should tell you to go to hell." He whispered.


    Sebastian Miller clenched his teeth, picked up his glass of alcohol and made his way towards the lady that was proving hard to get.


    Didn''t she know any other girl in the club would do anything to be in her position right now?. He was trying to help her life by taking her to the most expensive hotel in town, giving her a good fuck and perhaps some dollars depending on how well she satisfies him.

    "Who knew you could be so caring after lashing out on me with your first statement?" She mocked after which she gulped down another shot, making it her fourth shot.


    Sebastian ignored her reply and asked again. "Who made you cry?"


    "Apparently, my boyfriend broke up with me. Not that I blame him for doing so. I never took our relationship seriously."


    "I''m sorry about that, " Sebastian said, still surprised that he apologized to her. The word "I''m sorry" was something he hardly said to people even when he was at fault. It was as if someone else was in control of his speech.


    "Thanks, " Jayda muttered, already wondering why she told a stranger about her problem.


    Jayda was about to call the bartender to order for more shots when Sebastian stopped her. "You''ve had enough already." For some reason, he wanted her to stay sane.


    "Whatever I do here is none of your business Mr?" She asked for his name.

    "I thought the waiter told you my name. Anyways, I''m Sebastian Miller."


    "He told me but I wasn''t paying attention to what he was saying. I''m Jayda."

    "Do you want to hang out with me at my hotel?" Sebastian said with a shaky voice. He was surprised as to why he was suddenly shy. It was usually not this way with other women. They were even the ones that always suggested he takes them to his place or a hotel.


    Jayda was about to decline his offer but changed her mind when she looked into his beautiful eyes. She could see the zeal in his eyes. He was indirectly begging for her to say yes to his invite.


    "Okay." She said, hoping she wouldn''t regret her actions later. Thanks to the drinks she has had for giving her Dutch courage.


    Jayda reached for her purse to pay for her drinks but Sebastian stopped her.


    "I got it all covered." He said and she frowned.


    "You sure? I can pay for my drinks." She said. She knew the bar was expensive and the shots she ordered were not the cheapest of all.


    "It''s been covered." He assured.


    "Alright then." She rose to her feet and almost fell but Sebastian was by her side to help her.

    "Why are they all staring? Are you some kind of celebrity or what?" Jayda asked as they walked out of the club.

    Sebastian was even angrier now. Smoke was almost coming out of his ear. "You''re the one who is sick. I gave you double of what I would have given other girls and you are not even grateful."

    Jayda went back into the room. She noticed Sebastian did not take the money he left on the nightstand. She picked up her dress and underwear from the floor, put them on, reached for her purse and the money. She left the money at the reception for it to be delivered to Sebastian Miller along with a short note.


    On a normal Saturday, Jayda will spend the morning hours cleaning her apartment and then work from home throughout the day but she was in no mood to do anything. She just wished she could see Sebastian Miller one more time so she could cut off his balls. He was the most ruthless person she had ever come across.


    Jayda ignored her growling stomach as soon as she walked into her apartment. She went straight to her room, soaked herself in her bathtub for a while, then tried to wash off Sebastian''s scent from her. No matter how hard she scrubbed her body, his scent just wouldn''t come off and that annoyed the hell out of her.


    She gave up, rinsed her body and went in search of something to wear. Jayda settled for shorts and a tank top. She put her hair in a messy bun and applied some ointments on the hickeys on her body. She went back into her room, gulped down a bottle of water and climbed on her bed. She hoped to sleep off her anger and hopefully feel better when she wakes up.

    "Leave me alone Lily" Jayda whispered as she snuggled closer to her pillow. She could tell it was Lilian, her best friend who was trying to wake her up from her dear sleep. Lilian had a key to her apartment and so did she to Lilian''s apartment.


    "Come on, you''ve slept for way too long. It''s evening already." Lilian announced which made Jayda open her eyes. Taking a glance at the alarm clock on her nightstand, she saw that it was almost 7 pm, She slept for so long. She couldn''t blame herself, she and Sebastian found it hard to keep their hands off each other yesterday so she hardly got any sleep.


    "When did you arrive?" She asked Lilian.


    "Two hours ago. You were sleeping soundly so I thought of giving you more time to sleep but I couldn''t take it any longer, I was getting bored so I decided to wake you up."


    "Oh my God!" Lilian exclaimed excitedly when she noticed the hickeys on Jayda''s neck and cleavage area. She saw them when Jayda was trying to sit up.


    "No wonder you decided to take a nap. I can see that you and Zach couldn''t keep your hands off each other. Damnnnn, you finally got laid, I''m so proud of you. It''s time for you to tell me every detail." Lilian smiled.


    "I never knew Zach was somewhat possessive, do they hurt?" Lilian referred to the hickeys on her body.


    Before Jayda could say anything, she gulped down a glass of water that was on her nightstand.


    "Zach and I broke up." She announced.


    Lilian frowned, "What do you mean?" She asked, confused.


    Jayda looked down at her hands, "It happened so fast. I went to his place so we could celebrate my promotion but it turned out I was disturbing his date with his new girl."


    "I don''t make time for him, I never took our relationship seriously, he has been there for me more than I''ve ever been there for him, he''s looking for someone to settle down with and I''m clearly not the one because I''m not ready for that phase in my life. So he broke it off."


    Jayda looked at Lilian with tears in her eyes. "You were right all along. I acted carelessly and now I''ve lost him."


    Lilian took Jayda''s hand in hers and gave it a light squeeze. Zach would have been the perfect man for her. He was handsome, rich, respectful and loving but her best friend was just too obsessed with work that she never took her relationship with him seriously.


    "I can help you talk to him, " Lilian offered.


    "There''s no need. I lost Zach and I think it''s a burden I should leave with. Besides, I think nemesis already caught up with me. I want no man in my life anymore." Jayda burst into tears.

 Chapter 4 Four

    Lilian was surprised. She could not believe it was her best friend that was pouring out her emotions before her. Jayda was someone that hardly showed her weak side. Even in tough situations, she always put up a strong face. She couldn''t remember the last time she saw Jayda cry.


    Lily did her best to calm Jayda down. She wiped her face with some tissue.


    "I''m here if you want to talk about it but it''s okay if you don''t want to, " Lilian said carefully.


    Jayda sniffed "I was devastated after I left Zach''s place so I made my way to club 232."


    "You went to a club?" Lilian asked, shocked. Jayda nodded. No matter how much Lily persuaded her to go to the club in the past, Jayda never gave in.


    "I went with the intention to get drunk but I ended up taking only three shots before I was interrupted by someone. He was very handsome but has the worst personality on earth. I feel so stupid because he used me."


    "During the first few minutes we talked, I felt kind of connected to him. His voice sent shivers down my spine and the way he pronounced my name made butterflies appear in my stomach. I felt a jolt of electricity run through me when his skin first came in contact with mine."


    "I know this is crazy but honestly that''s what I felt. I felt with him all that I never felt for Zach. One thing led to another and we ended up in the hotel room and I had the best night of my life."


    "He took his time to worship my body, he made me crave for more, he was so gentle, he made love to me, we found it hard to keep our hands off each other so he taught me different positions, he promised to make the night memorable for us and he did."


    A tear rolled down Jayda''s cheek and Lilian wiped it off with her thumb. "It turned out that the person I gave my virginity to was just a jerk who only wanted me for sex. He acted so cold this morning and that made me wonder if he was the same guy that made passionate love to me last night."


    "What made me angrier was that he dropped some notes on the nightstand claiming he was paying for my services, he even suspected me to be a thief. I have never been so humiliated in my life."


    Lilian listened intently to everything her best friend said. She knew the guy Jayda was talking about was special but at the same time, he was a big asshole. She had never seen Jayda express her feelings about a guy like that; not even Zach


    "Did he tell you his name?" Lilian asked, already coming up with a murder plan.


    Jayda nodded as she wiped her face with the back of her palm. "Sebastian Miller."


    Lilian looked as if she had just seen a ghost. "As in the same Sebastian Miller?"

    "Sebastian Miller is one of the richest bachelors in the city. He''s known in the whole of the United States as the fourth richest."

    "I made dinner. Let''s go and eat and after that, we will settle for a movie."

    She took Jayda''s hands in hers. "I don''t want you to fall sick or feel depressed because of that asshole. Trust me he''s not worth it. You should forgive yourself, hun."


    "I''m trying to but I can''t. I don''t regret last night but I do regret everything that happened this morning. He hurt me really bad with his words and actions. No matter how much I try to hate him, I end up hating myself more."


    "I made sure I hurled insults at him, I slapped him and threw one of my heels at him. I think it hit him on the head."


    "He deserved everything you did to him. Don''t beat yourself up for anything. Dinner is ready and after that, we will stroll to get some Ice cream and then come back to watch our movie. Please don''t say no." Lilian pleaded.

 Chapter 5 Five

    Sebastian Miller heaved a tired sigh as he slammed the document he was going through on the table. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn''t concentrate on anything. All he could think of was Jayda; the passionate night they had together, how he acted like a jerk to her the next morning, the tears in her eyes when he hurled hurtful words at her.


    The more he remembered her with tears in her eyes, knowing he was the reason for her sadness, the more he hated himself and regretted not going into the bathroom and apologizing to her.


    Since that night, no second has passed without Sebastian thinking about Jayda. She was all he could see in his dreams and it was making him crazy.


    He did his best to forget her by calling an ex-fling to meet him at a hotel but for some unknown reason, he couldn''t go through fucking her. He stopped halfway after a little bit of smooching because he realized he wanted something more. He didn''t feel the heat, the passion, the burning desire that he had with Jayda.

    Sebastian was brought out of his thoughts when his intercom buzzed and he was informed that his best friend, Caleb was here to see him.

    "You thought I was joking when I said I don''t understand what''s going on with me anymore, " Sebastian mumbled before burying his face in his hands.


    Caleb chuckled, "Karma is already dealing with you."


    "It''s not funny, Caleb. I literally can''t do anything without thinking about her. This is so unusual and strange. I''m never this clingy about any woman I have an affair with."


    Caleb gave his best friend a closer look and saw a small bump at the right side of his forehead. "She did that?" Caleb asked, trying to hold back his laughter.


    Sebastian ignored. He poured himself a half glass of Ciroc, then gulped it down immediately.


    He paid a visit to the hospital on his way from the hotel on Saturday morning. Fortunately, he saw his family Doctor, Dr Ellie, who examined his bump.

    Caleb had the biggest smile on his face as Sebastian spoke. It was as if he had detected something that was still unknown to his best friend. He knew a day would come where Sebastian would truly feel this way and he was glad to be alive to experience this day.


    "Just admit it to yourself, you like her."


    Sebastian chuckled, "You must be kidding me. I can never like anyone, most especially Jayda. She''s so rude and witty. Do you know how many times she called me a bastard and a dumbass?"


    Celeb and Sebastian were very close. They tell each other everything. For some reason, he knew this Jayda was different and had no doubt she was the one for Sebastian.


    No woman Sebastian has been with ever had the guts to stand up to him or call him names. In all, he was glad his best friend actually had some sort of passion for an opposite sex again which was a good thing.

    Caleb shook his head in disbelief, his best friend was so proud and full of himself. No doubt Sebastian needed someone like Jayda in his life so she will put him in his

    He hasn''t given a thought about Jayda and other men but now that Caleb asked the question, he found out he wasn''t comfortable with it. For some reason, he was happy he was the first man to make love to Jayda and the thought of another man having with Jayda what he had with her was making him crazy and insanely jealous.


    Sebastian sighed and buried his face in his hands, he was truly whipped. It would take some time for him to actually be able to forget her.

    They were interrupted by Sebastian''s secretary, Jessica, who walked in with a white envelope.


    "Someone from the club dropped this for you, sir." She handed him the envelope then took her leave.


    It was from club 232, the one he went to on Friday.

    Sebastian hadn''t realized he read out the words that looked like they were scribbled with anger on the paper until Caleb started laughing. Caleb hasn''t met Jayda but he was in love with her already. Hopefully, she will be the one that will change his best friend for good.


    Sebastian finally saw his match, someone that won''t accept any bullshit from him.


    Sebastian squeezed the paper and tossed it into a nearby bin. No one has ever refused or returned his money or told him to go to hell or told him he doesn''t deserve a place on earth. For some unknown reason, her words hurt him deeply.


    "So what next?" Caleb asked with a smile playing on his lips. He saw a look of hurt on Sebastian''s face before it turned to that of anger. His best friend was used to hiding his emotions and would hardly ever open up to anybody.

 Chapter 6 Six

    Four weeks later.


    These past days had been the busiest Jayda had ever been. There was a whole lot to do now that she was promoted. She had several court cases to handle, consultations to give and contracts to review.


    She was glad she had so much to do because it kept her mind off the person she gave her most precious thing, Sebastian.


    By the time she got home every night, she was usually exhausted so she went to bed straight and too tired to think about him.

    "I do remember him" Lilian mumbled, looking back at her uncle.


    "Good. I was just asking him when he was going to give me my first grandchild." Albert said which made Sebastian groan.

She did her morning rituals, changed into professional wear and exited her apartment.


    Jayda was mute all day. She only opened her mouth to give one-word instructions or one-word answers. She was happy the work she had to do made her forget about the pregnancy, even though it was only for a while.


    She had her cousin order lunch for her. Fortunately, she had some appetite today and she shed a tear when she remembered the food she was eating would be split into two. Half would go to her and the other half would go to the little human growing in her. She could not believe a baby was growing inside her and most of all, she knew nothing about being a mother.

    The next morning, Jayda woke up with the need to throw up. She rushed into the bathroom and emptied the contents in her stomach.


    She felt dizzy after she was done so she sat on the floor for a while to regain her lost energy.


    Feeling a little better, Jayda cleaned up, did her usual morning routine and got ready for work.


    Jayda considered today to be one of the days where she woke up on the wrong side of the bed so she was not in the mood to do anything extra. She settled for a simple knee-length official dress and brushed her hair. She decided to go makeup-free today. She reached for her hand and laptop bag, then made her way out of the room.

    The delivery guy came ten minutes after she ordered. Jayda reached for a bottle of coke in the fridge and settled on the sofa to enjoy her pizza while going through the handbook Doctor Davis gave her earlier today.

    On his way back to his apartment which was about thirty minutes away from his parents'' mansion, all Sebastian could think of was Jayda. He felt more guilty hearing that she wasn''t feeling well and wished he had reacted like a mature man when she told him she was pregnant.


    He wished he could take back all that he said to her. He was willing to accept his mistake and would do anything in order to be in both Jayda''s life and his baby''s life.


    He concluded that Lilian was the key to Jayda''s heart. She knew everything about him and Jayda and yet she never said anything, at least not directly. Seb heaved a sigh. He felt like a fool when he remembered his last conversation with Lilian. Obviously, there was nobody called Liam. She was only pulling his legs.

    Lilian planned on not allowing Jayda go to work but Jayda proved her wrong with how energetic she turned out to be. She woke up early and offered to make breakfast for herself and Lilian.


    Lily made sure Jay ate everything that was on her plate and she made sure her best friend took her vitamins.


    They cleaned up, prepared for work and left Jayda''s apartment in their cars.


    Jayda got to her office at exactly 8.30 am. She placed her handbag on the golden brown mahogany desk, then settled in her chair. She took out her diary and went through all of what she had to do for the day. She was about to do some paperwork when she was disturbed by someone knocking on the glass walled door.


    "Come in, " Jayda said absentmindedly without looking at the person who knocked.

    He was happy he gave her the opportunity to apologize before she ended the call. This was one of the moments that Sebastian wished he had some sort of superpowers. He would very much like to know how she was fairing and most importantly, what was going on in her head.


    Issac had gotten back to him yesterday night with her home address and phone number. But he was scared to call her last night. He finally found the courage to do so when he woke up this morning.

    Two weeks later.


    Caleb found himself in Saunders and Co on a Monday morning. He had a meeting with a senior associate of the firm, Mr Tucker, concerning the protection of the new products invented by his company. The meeting went well and Caleb thanked Mr Tucker and other associates who helped out before walking out of the conference room. He thought Jayda was going to be part of the lawyers that would be present in the meeting. He stylishly asked for her and was told she was busy with another case.


    As soon as Caleb walked out of the glass-walled conference room, he bumped into his best friend''s sister, Olivia.

    Before he left the office, Sebastian contacted his Secretary to reschedule all his morning meetings. Jayda and his child mattered the most in his life, every other thing could come later.

    Soon enough, their orders came and they dug in. Sebastian spent the first few minutes admiring Jayda as she ate. He liked the fact that she was herself around him.


    "So how is work?" He tried to start a conversation.

    As soon as Sebastian got settled in his car, he had an incoming call from Caleb; He answered immediately.

    He smiled, "You have no idea how happy I am."

 Chapter 23 Twenty Three

    Lilian was somewhere around Millers Inc so she decided to stop by to say hello to Sebastian.

    Seb chuckled as he rose to his feet. He approached Lilian and gave her a hug. This was their first time sharing any sort of friendly bodily contact.

    Before she could settle on the couch and enjoy her meal, there was a knock on the door.

 Chapter 25 Twenty Five

    Jayda could not help with the smile that took over her face when she stared at herself in the mirror. The red dress Sebastian bought for her fitted her perfectly and with the little makeup she applied, she looked very beautiful, like Cinderella, waiting for her Prince Charming to arrive so they can proceed to the event.


    Jayda had no doubt she looked like a bag of money. She had an expensive dress, jewellery, and shoes on.


    But she was a little bit nervous. Never had she attended any charity event filled with only billionaires in the room. Zach had invited her on so many occasions when they were still dating but she would decline, using work as an excuse.

 Chapter 26 Twenty Six

    Sebastian engaged Jayda into random conversations on the ride to her place and soon enough they arrived at her apartment.


    She made Seb get comfortable on the couch in the living room and entertained him with a glass of wine while she went to her room to pack an overnight bag.


    Sebastian chuckled as soon as Jayda reappeared with a medium size backpack. She had also changed her outfit to a knee-length dress and she had her fancy sandals on.

    The Millers chose to have their emergency family meeting in the second living room downstairs.

    Amelia finally joined them and occupied the seat beside Sebastian. The whole family was anxious and worried about what she had to say. For some reason, Vanessa could tell it was bad news because she had never seen Amelia in this state.

 Chapter 29 Twenty Nine

    Sebastian was crushed! He sat still for the first sixty seconds wondering how his world had fallen apart. Two hours ago, he felt fulfilled and happy that everything was going well with him and two hours later, his life had turned upside down.


    Seb came back to reality and left his parents'' mansion. He ignored his mother''s plea of letting her or his father come with him. He was clearly in a state where they were afraid of him driving and besides that, they wanted to give him their support.


    Sebastian refused to allow his parents or any of his siblings to go with him to the hospital. He promised to call them to keep them updated.

    The Next Day


    Jayda woke up with a cold and a slight headache. She was not happy about it because she was anticipating leaving the hospital today. But with her cold, she had no doubt the doctor was going to keep her in the hospital for at least one more day.


    To her surprise, she was discharged in the evening and that made her happy as hell. She promised the Doctor she was going to observe her bedrest thoroughly and would also take her medications at the appropriate time.


    Sebastian took Jayda to her apartment, prepared a warm bath for her and picked out a nightdress for her to wear.


    While Jayda had her bath, Seb made his way to the kitchen to prepare something for her to eat. He found ingredients for pasta and then began making dinner.

    The Next Day


    Unlike every other Tuesday, Jayda reluctantly stood up from her bed and prepared for work. She spent the whole of yesterday crying and sulking so she needed to catch up on so many work-related things that she didn''t do yesterday.


    She cleaned up, changed into a simple but elegant dress, covered her puffy eyes with some makeup and proceeded to the kitchen to make herself a toast. He had no appetite; instead, he was worried about Jayda. He really wanted to know how she was doing, if she had had dinner and all of that.


    Resisting to dial her number or send her a text message throughout the day was one of the hardest things he has ever had to do. He wanted to hear her voice and apologize again.


    Seb sighed and placed down his cutlery. He pushed the food away and buried his face in his hands. To top it all, Lilian and Jayda were not on good terms and he couldn''t help but think it was his fault.

 Chapter 36 Thirty Six

    It was second to none that Jayda Wright was an exceptionally brilliant Lawyer. Opposing counsel prefers to settle with Jayda and whoever she was representing so it would be a win-win situation for all because they were aware Jayda hardly loses a case. She gives her all to every client she works for and that has actually been a plus to her successful career.


    Jayda mostly works for high-class clients, particularly, Close clients of the firm and not everyone could afford to pay for her services.


    So every two months, She takes up three pro bono cases, sometimes more than three, depending on how busy her schedule was. She does that to help the less privileged who wanted Justice and couldn''t afford a lawyer. Jay has been doing that for four years now.

 Chapter 37 Thirty Seven

    Before they proceeded to the mall, Seb and Jayda made a stop at the restaurant to have lunch. Then they went maternity clothes shopping. (work, party, casual and nightwear.)


    Jayda bought all the outfits Sebastian said he loved. She also bought some sexy lingerie when he wasn''t looking.


    The maternity store led to the baby store. They agreed they were just going to take a look at everything but they failed woefully. They saw some unisex baby items that they liked; ranging from clothes, shoes, toys and other baby supplies. Jayda also bought a few items for three-year-old Aaron.


    Thankfully, they came in their own cars so they had no struggle trying to fit all that they bought in one car.

    "Lily, I told you not to come over until 5 in the evening. Why are you here this early?" Jayda mumbled tiredly, not opening her eyes.


    Lily did not reply and neither did the person showering kisses on her face stop. Jayda groaned, burying her face deeper into the pillow.

 Chapter 41 Forty One

    Sebastian took Jayda to an Art Gallery owned by Seb''s high school friend, after that they made their way to the movies; Sebby booked a whole theatre for himself and Jayda with VIP treatment and their final stop was at the park not far from Jayda''s apartment. They bought Ice Cream, sat on a bench to enjoy it while making conversations and then they took a stroll around the park before they headed back to Jayda''s apartment to prepare for her birthday dinner.


    Sebastian took a shower and got ready in the guest room while Jayda got ready in her room.


    When he was done, he proceeded to Jayda''s room. She had already worn her outfit. He saw her sitting on the bed, about to put on her heels.


    "Let me help you." Sebastian offered even though she could very much do that herself. He slid in the left and right heels on both feet and then helped her stand up.


    Sebastian tried to hold back tears as he took all of Jayda in. He couldn''t believe how lucky he was to tame such an amazing human being. The dress she wore fit her like a second skin, it also enhanced her well-defined baby bump which made her look sexier. She had little makeup on and she was glowing wonderfully well.

    A few weeks later.


    Jayda couldn''t help but think something was wrong with Lilian. It has been almost two weeks since She and Sebastian came back from their one week vacation and she hasn''t seen Lilian.


    Whenever Jayda called to greet her, She could tell something was not right and no matter how much she persuaded, Lilian would not say anything. Instead, she would give an excuse to end the call with Jay and also promise to call back but never did.

    He wished he could do more, he wished he could go through the labour for her or somehow take away all the pain she was feeling. She was in tears and in great pain and it broke his heart.


    Seb had tears in his eyes too but he tried as much as he could to hold them back. Jayda relied on him for support and he had to be strong for her.


    "I can see her head, babe, just a few more pushes and she will be with us." Sebastian encouraged, before placing a kiss on her sweaty face.
