《Tempted By My Boss》


 Chapter 1

    At the age of 19 Hailey was done studying at Harvard as she had started school at a very young. She never went out much as she kept to herself most of the time.


    She didn''t have much time to spare to herself because if she wasn''t studying, she was working part time in order to fund for her studies.


    Her life hadn''t been the greatest but this was going to change. She was very determined from an early age to have a better life and that was within her grasp. She just lacked the resources and the funds to make that happen.


    Many guys pursued had pursued her but she was not interested. Her main priority was books and her life revolved around them. She had never dated much because of her fixation on her school work.


    Hailey had always dreamed about making it big in life and she hoped that this was the break through that she had been waiting for.


    She felt very nervous as she got to the company that she was going for an interview at.


    She got in the building and she immediately saw the front desk, she approached it eagerly. She saw two ladies sitting there and she automatically assumed that they were the receptionists. "Morning, I''m Hailey Hartfield."


    They both looked up from their work and one of them responded"We have been expecting you" She had blonde hair and her name tag read Clara. "I will be with you in a moment" as she carried on.


    A few moments later Clara stood up "This way Hailey."


    She lead me to a office and told me to wait there. She sat down and looked around the office, it was very huge and it exuded an aurora of wealth. She also noticed that it was clean and neat.


    She could also dream of having such an office herself someday.


    Today had officially been her first day as she was already accepted into the company. All she need now was to meet her boss. She was anxious and nervous. She wanted to make a great first impression.


    She prayed that this would not be a competition among-st many of them on who would impress the boss. She sat upright and tried to make herself look more confident.


    She got a start when all of a sudden a guy had appeared out of nowhere. How had he managed to walk so smoothly without her hearing him. Was he a vampire? Stop it Hailey and focus. She looked at the guy properly. He had on a black tuxedo, his hair was slick and he had blue eyes that looked like a lake.


    But one thing that was certain was that he looked certainly young.

 Chapter 2

    "Good day, you must be Haley". He extended his hand towards me and I took it hesitantly.


    "Would you like anything to drink?" he asked.


    "No thanks." she replied.


    Who was this stranger that was standing in front of her?


    "Sorry, who are you?" she decided to ask him outright.


    "Valerian." he responded.


    She was relieved, how could she have thought for a second that this young man was her boss. How could she be so blind.


    "What do you want?" she asked.


    "To talk to you." said Valerian. He had no shame! Just because he worked here, he thought he could abuse whatever little power he had.


    She tilts her head, "If you don''t mind I would like to wait for the boss in peace. Thank you very much."


    "Really?" he replied.


    "Yes" she responded with a sassy tone."I don''t want to give a bad impression."


    Valerian chuckled."You are a feisty one aren''t you ?" This guy was also probably a junior worker who maybe had two years in this company and now he wanted to act as if he owned it.


    "Yes asshole as you can tell".


    He just grins at her and it doesn''t seem like he is going to leave her alone. She decides to be more rude so he could leave "You know I dislike people like you, I mean you want to exercise the authority that you don''t have."


    "Authority I don''t have." He replied with disbelief written all over on his face. She wanted to laugh, people like him deserved to be put in their place to the very least.


    "You know, you even look like a pervert." she carried on. As he was about to respond the door opens.


    The blonde from earlier, Clara came in and she was probably going to tell her that the boss was running late or even worse they had to reschedule the whole thing.


    She turns to Valerian. Thank goodness maybe she was going to tell him to stop bothering her. "Sir you have a meeting in five minutes."


    "Thank you Clara that''s all." He responded. She closed the door when she left. It dawned on to her that he was the boss! Would she even have a job by the end of the day?


    How was he so young and he had a huge firm, she had expected some old man to the very least not him. she was cringing inside with embarrassment. She couldn''t even look at him, where would she begin? Should she get down on her and beg for forgiveness.


    He was now sitting at the corner of the desk in front of me..."Oh where were we...Miss Hatfield?" as he acted as if he was thinking about. Then he coked his head to the side, "Let me remind you he said with a smirk Mr Asshole you said..."

 Chapter 3

    She started to fidget with her skirt..."Sir what I meant by that..its like sort of like slang you know...like how are you doing my China but in this case It''s how you doing ass..." She couldn''t finish her statement. She knew that she sounded ridiculous.


    He leaned and he put his hands on either side of her chair. He whispers in my ears, "I hope you are ready for the ride, this Asshole is about to take you too."


    He carries on "I look forward to every single moment". His breath was tickling my neck and ears. He then leaned back to his normal stance.The look in his eyes was one of which I felt as if he had undressed me at that moment. She felt a bit violated but maybe he hadn''t done that and she was just imagining things.


    "So I got the job?" as she stammered.


    He smirked "Oh you got the job alright but you will work for it."


    The door opened again and Clara got in and she looked at their exchange weirdly. Hailey thought she saw jealousy in her eyes for a brief moment.


    "Sir, they are expecting you in the board room." Clara said, her voice had become sultry. Before she left she had given me an unfriendly glare. What had she done to get that. She didn''t ask Valerian to come and sit so close to her but as a matter of fact she would feel more at ease if he was sitting on his chair. A bit further from her so she could have some space to breathe.


    She didn''t want this asshole to be that close to her. It was as if he had read her mind. He gripped my jaw and lifted her face so that she was looking at him, and in a low tone he says"I guess I will be seeing you tomorrow."


    His gaze drops to her breasts, emotions weren''t her forte, so she didn''t bother blushing cause she was also used to it. But this man in front of her should know that he was getting nothing from her.


    and she was determined.


    His eyes also held a strong determination. He stood up, straightened his sleeve, and he left.

 Chapter 4

    She woke up the next morning and she dragged herself to the shower. After she was done bathing she pulled out a white blouse, a black skirt and some decent heels to match the whole look.


    She ate some breakfast quickly and then she was on her way to work.


    She got to work and she found one of the other assistants, Maggie. Hailey greets her and asks her where she must go. "You can go into his office."


    She enters his office, hoping he is not there, but he is there. He is standing and facing out the window.


    She put on her best confident voice and was pretty sure that she had overdone it because she had said it a bit too loud "MORNING SIR!!" well this is humiliating.


    "Well somebody is a tad too excited" his voice was low and husky but he still did not turn around.


    He carries on speaking."I like it black."


    She was confused as to what he meant. "Sorry Sir?"


    "I said I like it black." He repeated himself.


    She still doesn''t get what he is trying to say."I don''t quite understand, Sir?"


    "Wow you''re fucking slow too. I want my coffee black" he exclaimed slowly."and be fast".


    "Yes sir." She responded.


    She went out, muttering under her breath, "Do I look like his coffee girl? I came to work not to be listening to that asshole''s bullshit and how am I supposed to know that he likes his coffee black?"


    She was fuming. She had lived in east coast all her life so when she moved here in Middleton it was all new to her. She went around to different rooms, this place was too huge for her liking. She had done so many twists and turns.


    She was more lost than ever. She should have just asked at the front desk where the kitchen was.


    Fifteen minutes later she had found it and she began making the coffee and took sachets of sugar as she didn''t know how many sugars he put in his coffee.


    She went back this time without getting lost. When she opened the door to his office and she put the coffee on his table.


    "Your coffee is ready, Sir."


    He looks up from his work and he replies," I don''t want it anymore."


    She was so done at his words. After all the trouble she went through to get this son of a bitch coffee. He has the nerve to refuse it! She wanted to shove it down his throat.


    "why are you looking at me like that Hailey?" Valerian said with a smug look on his face.


    She quickly changed her facial expression and took the coffee from his table. She resisted the urge to throw it in his face. She turned around stiffly and went back with it in the kitchen. She couldn''t even drink it as she didn''t drink coffee at all.


    Valerian wanted to laugh at her facial expression, she looked as if she wanted to pounce at him.How thrilling it had been.


    She was probably cussing him out in her head, he enjoyed her back side view.


    Her ass was quite a view. How long he thought would it be when he would be before he would grip it.Not long when he went all out.


    She better be ready. Cause he was.

 Chapter 5

    After the coffee incident which she decided to forget about the whole incident entirely. She would just let it go and start afresh.


    Another day had come and she had gotten a list of things to do.She was told to use one of the boardrooms. She found one that she liked and rarely got used.


    She set up the place so she could work much easier. After she was done setting up she started working.


    She spent the whole day immersed in her work.


    When Hailey was done with her work, she asked Clara if she could also hand in her work with hers. And she was more than delighted to, which she had the feeling as to why she was so happy.


    At least that was one less problem for her. She would not have to see that asshole.


    A week went by and she worked hard. She did the usual of receiving her work in the morning and handing in her work to Clara when the day was over.


    Hailey got in the office in the morning and and she began to set out her work so that she can begin with it, She took out clips and started putting up my notes and pictures on the clipboard.She would have a better overview of everything.


    She was reaching out and putting up the pictures, she felt her arm was beginning to strain her a lot when she felt arms encircle her waist and she was being elevated a bit


    And that scent, She knew who it was.


    "Better" he whispered and she felt his breath on her neck, and she could swear that she felt his lips on her neck. She turned a fraction.


    He had seen her reaching up and setting up the board. She looked tiny and fragile, what a site she was. Valerian couldn''t help but encircle his arms around her and help her.


    She smelled like cherry blossoms, "Better" He whispered and he couldn''t help but press his lips lightly on the curve of her neck.


    When she slightly turned he felt her ass press up his crotch, the things he could do to her in this very instant in the boardroom on the table. He had to release her cause he wouldn''t be able to resist himself if he kept on holding her.


    Her voice bought me back to earth," Is there a problem sir?" She was staring at me with those eyes and his eyes lowered to her full cherry lips.


    Yes there was he thought, why was she avoiding him? It seemed as if his charms did not work on her as she didn''t seem bothered by his presence or how close they had been moments ago.


    Had it been another girl they would have been head over heels by now.


    "Where have you been?" He replied to her harshly,


    "I''ve been here Sir, as you can see." she responded sweetly.


    "Don''t play fucking stupid with me Haley. Why haven''t I seen you for a whole week." his tone was rising.


    "Is there a problem with my work?" she replied meekly with a mixture of confusion.


    "Why do you hand in your work to Clara and not straight to me?"


    " I...I Clara said she doesn''t mind," as she looked like she was looking for an answer.


    "Is she your fucking boss Haley?"


    "No"she replied,"I apologize Sir, it won''t happen again."


    "That''s good to know" He responded briskly.


    He left feeling a bit shocked at his little outburst on her. It was her fault, he thought.


    Why did she have to be so damn irresistible?


    He wanted her,

 Chapter 6

    What was wrong with Valerian she thought shaking my head, his mood swings were out of control.


    What difference did it make if she submitted it to him or Clara?At the end of the day he had the work right. She was fuming, who does he think he is?, never-mind she thought.


    He is your boss her subconscious answered.She went back to doing her work and carried on till it was lunch time,she hadn''t noticed time had gone by so quickly and I was famished.


    As Hailey walked out to go get some lunch, she took a left turn. She bumped into someone in the front area where Clara and Maggie work.


    "Sorry." She muttered and she looked up to only be met by a handsome stranger with a dashing smile.


    A smile that could make you forget a lot of things. "It''s okay and whom might you be?"


    "Haley, Sir."


    " Please call me Colhane." he responded, his voice suited his whole nature.


    He took her hand and pressed his lips on it. Well this was quite a show she thought and a few workers were staring at them, some with jealousy in their eyes.


    As his lips were leaving her hand, there he was, a dark shadow appeared. Valerian was approaching.


    What would be think if he saw her like this? He would think she was flirting up a storm! He would probably reprimand her for this, as if it was her fault. Stay calm she thought to herself.


    "So you have met one of my interns." Valerian exclaimed in a cool voice, she couldn''t discern his mood because he had masked it so well.


    Colhane responded not taking his eyes off her, "she is a beauty I must say". If he expected her to blush he might as well just forget it.


    There was no point in faking false modesty was there."Thank you Colhane." I blatantly replied.


    Colhane''s pov:


    He had bumped into the most stunning little thing. She looked so young and fresh but the one thing that truly set her apart was how cold she seemed.


    How hard she looked, for a young girl. Her eyes didn''t shine warmth yet they were like one of a porcelain doll just stone cold. He could tell the kiss on her hand and his compliment didn''t seem much to her.


    When she said her name he could swear she had hypnotized him. The good thing about her was that she was also resistant to Valerian''s charms.


    Had she noticed how he also wanted and lusted after her. Who wouldn''t he thought, she was just distinctly polite and didn''t show much.


    How he would love to divulge in all the deepest secrets her eyes held.


    How he would want to know what made her so cold at a tender age. And he would find out no matter the cost.


    Valerians Pov


    She immediately knew it was her,but what was Colhane doing? Touching what didn''t belong to him.


    He had hired her so that automatically made her belong to him! He wanted to yank her hand away from his lips.


    How he would love to kiss every inch of her and make her belong to him alone. He walked towards them smoothly.


    Colhane didn''t have to point out to him that she was such a beauty cause he already knew that.


    How could he not. Her eyes could trap any man''s soul. Those full lips and dark hair that had volume cascading down till her mid back.


    That voice of hers could make a man forget or do anything to her bidding. Yet she seemed unaffected by any attention from man no matter how good looking they were.


    He turned to him and spoke"Colhane you''re here to meet me not Ms. Hartfield,I''m sure she has plenty of work."


    "Where are you off to Ms. Hartfield?" Colhane asked,not taking his eyes off her and ignoring Valerian.


    "To lunch sir" she responded softly,


    "would you care if I joined you ?"Colhane said.


    Hailey seemed confused as to how to answer as she looked at me not Colhane.


    "No, thank you Sir. I wouldn''t want to delay your meeting." She responded.


    "Of course", Colhane responded "maybe another time."


    And with that Haley walked off without looking back, and He noticed Colhane was also watching her leave like a hawk with curiosity in his eyes.


    "To my office shall we?" breaking Colhane''s concentration and wanting to stop him from looking at what belonged to him.

 Chapter 7

    Hailey was done with her work after the encounter with Valerian and Colhane. She wanted to leave her work with Clara, when she refused saying the boss would be furious.


    So she would just have to take it in herself. Valerian and Colhane were in the meeting for hours and she doubted that they would be done any time soon.


    She opened the door silently and saw that they were sitting on the left end of his office looking at something like a power point.


    How should she do this at all? Should she tell him that she is done or just put the report by the table and leave?


    Yup the second option seemed to be the better option as it would not interrupt them and she could just leave unseen if she did it quietly.


    Okay Hailey it''s time to do this and action! She got in and crept slowly towards his table silently,it was dark inside as the only light that was there was coming from the screen.


    They hadn''t heard her as they were engrossed in what they were watching. Slowly, slowly she was tip toeing,


    "ouch!!" she yelped as she tripped over the cord. She found herself flat on all fours.


    Of course you guessed they had both turned around and the lights came automatically on. Then they were both by her side trying to help her get up. Could the ground swallow her any further? Could this be anymore embarrassing?


    "Thank you,"she said it for the umpteenth time.


    "Are you okay" Valerian asked?


    "Yes sir I''m fine, I''m so sorry to disturb your meeting." She stammered trying to explain herself.


    "I wanted to place my work by your table without interrupting you."


    "Its okay." Colhane responded, "we were right about done ."


    "Right." Valerian also added on.


    She picked up her file and she didn''t know what to do with it, should she give it to him or should she just place it on the table? Why was she overthinking this?


    "Are you okay?"Colhane asked breaking me out of my thought process."


    Yes sir." She squeaked.


    "I told you to call me Colhane."


    Hailey decided to place the file on the table which was a horrible idea as she looked like a mouse who was just caught stealing cheese and they were both staring at me so intently.


    "How was your lunch?" Colhane asked before she could bid them good night and leave.


    "It was great." she respond nonchalantly. "


    It would have been better with me" Colhane responded.


    She didn''t know how to respond to that.


    "Thank you." was the first thing that her brain could think of and she just blurted it out. Wow Hailey you couldn''t have just kept quiet.


    She noticed Valerian was looking at her quizzically.


    "You welcome." Said Colhane. "I hope next time you can give me a chance to prove myself to you."


    "Um okay." She responded lightly. When she noticed Valerian stiffen. Was she embarrassing him or something?


    "Have a good evening!" she exclaimed at both of them and quickly left the room.


    She went and cleared everything and finished off all her work. She decided to take a shower and change before she left as was was already running late for the other job she had.


    Yes the other job,she was a waitress at night-time so she could get money to cover costs for herself as she had no parents who could fend for her. Hopefully she would quit because of this job. She was too tired to be juggling both.


    She was a bit tired and a shower would definitely do the trick for all this exhaustion that she was feeling. There was a shower at the workplace, so she would use that one and then after the shower she would take the bus to my other job.


    Hailey went to the bathroom and she took off her clothes and opened the hot water. The nice thing about this company was the space and the luxurious staff bathroom. Although apparently our bathroom didn''t even stand a chance against the bosses one.


    Whatever she should just be grateful for the one they have here. It was white and bright. She took off her clothes and got in to the hot water and they pelted her skin. She relished in the moment.


    She was thinking and rerunning today''s events in her head when all of a sudden the curtain flew open and,her naked body was exposed.


    Her eyes were wide open in shock and there before her stood.....

 Chapter 8

    She let out a shriek and covered her private parts. She turned around.


    "What the hel!l" She yells at Valerian."Don''t you knock?"


    He tilted his head in amusement not seeming to make a move as he continued savoring her body that was shivering.


    She spotted her towel, she dashed for it and wrapped it around herself quickly. She was fuming and at a loss for words. He seemed as if he had enjoyed what he had seen. What was wrong with this man? He lacked human decency to the core.


    She wanted to yell at him so bad but the words would not come out,


    "Hailey I...."


    Before he finishes his sentence she cuts him off.


    "Fuck you!"


    And with that she walks away and leaves a very much puzzled Valerian. At least he would know how he felt when he had just barged in the bathroom and to top it off he had just continued to stare at her


    She let out a cry of frustration as she was now fully dressed in her waitress uniform She leaves and now she is sitting in the bus and recalling the events that had occurred tonight.


    Her boss had seen her naked! How much worse could it get. She had to forget it all and act like a professional or at least try , she supposed.


    "Hailey!!" She sees Matt walking towards her with a cute smile on his face. She had known him for two years and he was the best! He was ironically two years older than her.


    They used to work full time together but since she got the other job now only part time. Since she now worked part time she had to work the night shift, which was new to her since she had a day job now.


    This restaurant was really fancy and for the wealthy. "I assume that you will be getting more tips, now that your pretty face has showed up." Matt exclaims as he stares at her with those chocolate eyes of his.


    "Really now;" She looks at him sarcastically.


    He watched Hailey put on her apron, she was so beautiful and yet so indifferent.


    Why did she shut him out so much when all he longed for was to hold, comfort and help her.She wasn''t your regular girl.


    She never seemed to blush or take complements to heart at all. It was like she was an ice queen, frozen to the core.


    Yet a queen that could make a man fall for her more because of her cold nature.


    "what?" Matt snaps back to reality when he realized that he had been staring at her for so long. "What is it Matt?" Hailey repeats again "You totally zoned out"....


    "Uh it''s nothing big Hailey." He replies.


    "Oh okay," she shrugs walking towards the door to welcome customers, she plasters on a smile that doesn''t reach her eyes at all.


    What would it take to break her barriers and make her truly happy.


    Colhane had gone home, when he too had finished up and was preparing to call it a day when all of a sudden he heard a noise.


    What was that? Had someone broken in his damn company? He walked slowly towards the noise which lead to the bathroom.


    Was this a distraction so they would hit him behind the head when he opened the curtain and found no-one there.


    There is only one way to find out then. He swung the curtain open and he wasn''t prepared for what he saw.


    There stood Hailey, naked and so, so, so..... beautiful.


    Why did he find her beautiful?? He definitely needed to fuck her soon, to get her out of his system. He wanted to get in right there with her. Then he saw her take a towel and cover up herself.


    "Fuck you!" she said,


    Then she left. She was a feisty, and that turned him on even more.


    He took his bag and decided to go and have a drink.


    He arrived at JE TAIME, and parked his car. He was greeted by many who knew him and feared by some before making it in.He could feel the envy from men and admiration from women who wanted him.


    "Welcome to JE TAI..." and there stood before him was Hailey staring at him shocked eyes.

 Chapter 9

    The bastard had the nerve to show up here after being a psychotic pervert! She had tried to be calm while showing him a place to seat, yet inside she was boiling with rage! She had given him the menu and he had acted as if nothing happened earlier on.


    He has probably seen a ton of naked girls she thought to herself.


    The other girls came up to her, fighting over who was going to serve Valerian''s table.


    She ended up deciding to give Sara the table, and she squealed with laughter and blew her a kiss, which left the others glaring at her and muttering "Hailey is so unfair. " under their breaths.


    These girls need to a grip.


    She could see where Valerian was sitting, from where she and Matt where standing.


    Seconds later she saw Sarah''s cherry hair bouncing up and down as she went over to his table to take his order. She gave her best smile, and he was polite to her and she even saw him winking at her.


    Wow Valerian was a like some play boy. She felt an arm go around her shoulders, when she looked up and saw that it was Matt smiling down at her, she returned the smile.


    "What are you thinking about Hailey?"


    "Nothing Matt,"


    "The look on your face a couple of seconds ago didn''t feel as if it was nothing to me."


    He started tickling her and she couldn''t stop laughing,


    " that''s what I like to see", Matt whispered her ear.


    "Matt stop!" she said,trying to not make much of a noise.


    Matt suddenly stopped when Bethany, who was part of the staff came, "whoa!" Bethany exclaimed,


    "what?" both Her and Matt replied at the same time.


    "Why is Valerian looking at you guys like that?" She and Matt turned a bit to Valerian''s direction and saw what she meant.


    He didn''t look too thrilled and he didn''t look away as if he was expecting our gazes.


    Matt shrugged his shoulders,"beats me" he responded.


    Bethany scowled at us, "you guys stop playing around work so much, you making our best clients uncomfortable."


    "Yes mam!" Matt responded, and I couldn''t help but giggle at his funny tone, which lead to Bethany shaking her head in surrender.


    I was scanning the room to see if they were any unsatisfied customers, or anyone who needed attending to when I saw Valerian.


    It was if he was waiting for her to look his direction.


    She made half a second, eye contact with him and then quickly turned away rolling her eyes. Was he imagining her naked again?


    She and Matt started to act like professionals not wanting to get fired, or get complaints. They did their jobs properly, and stopped goofing around.


    She ended up getting three tables to wait, she served the tables, she hadn''t noticed that all the other customers where gone when the last table she served left.


    Sarah came up to her and gave her a hug from behind, Hailey giggled a bit.


    "Thank you for the table you gave me, Valerian gave me a huge tip." Sarah said.


    "He is everything Hailey I want in a man. His eyes, body, the way he walks, the way he talks and even eats. He was just everything you could dream of" as she was grinning from ear to ear. "The mysteriousness behind his eyes is bewitching."


    Of course he is she thought to herself, a pervert like him is every girls dream.


    Hailey hadn''t even noticed him leaving at all as she was too busy serving her tables.


    "I felt the chemistry Hailey." as she whirled around and danced like a ballerina, breaking her out of her thoughts.


    "Not fair" Bethany came chiming in that she also wanted a chance if he ever came back, which resulted with them bickering who would serve him next time.


    Whatever she thought to herself as she wanted to finish and get this day over with so she can rest, and tackle what lies ahead of her.


    We ended the day at one in the morning which was not bad comparing to the other days, when they finish late or they have to send off some drunk rich guy or women who had been dumped here.


    To think about it they a had to also comfort people here. Which was exhausting and time consuming.


    We had finished resetting the tables and cleaning the whole place, when they were all outside they locked the doors. Everyone said bye to each other before the dispersed.


    "Do you want me to escort you home my lady?" Matt asked taking a bow in front of me, which earned him a shove from her


    "No Matt go home, I am fine I can make it home on my own." Matt still insisted he walk me to the bus then, which she let him do and when they arrived she gave him a long hug and thanked him. "Get home well Matt, bye!"


    "bye." Matt responded and blew me a kiss.


    The bus ride was comfortable and she got home and immediately got in under her covers in her work uniform. She immediately drifted off to sleep and she woke up when the alarm clock rang. She wanted to break it.


    She woke up, showered and then got dressed in long black pants, a blouse and black heels which complemented the look.


    After tying her hair into a neat pony, she went and ate some breakfast then she dashed towards the bus stop.


    She got to work on time and greeted Clara and the others there. She quickly went to her work space so that so that she could get started with her work. She wanted to finish on time.


    She entered the boardroom when she felt someone pull her and a pair of hands grabbed her thighs, and she was being lifted off the ground . She was hit against the door closing it, her legs were wrapped around his torso.


    She felt her hair being gripped and this caused her head to tilt upright.


    She was forced to look up and there, she saw him staring at her with dark gloomy eyes.

 Chapter 10

    Hailey finally lay down on her bed and looked at the ceiling. It was two in the morning, that was the time she got home after she was finished with her second job. She was happy that she could finally rest. Her day job wouldn''t be so bad since she hadn''t seen Valerian for two weeks.


    The memories came flooding back on the incident that lead up to this moment, when Valerian was carrying her in the boardroom. She was straddling him and her back was against the door . He had gripped her head so it was tilted upwards when he had clashed his lips onto hers. His tongue had forced it''s way into her mouth and she tasted his minty breath.


    She had come to her senses and she remembered he was her boss. She had wiggled like a worm and struggled till he let her down. Out of impulse she had slapped him across the face. The blow didn''t seem to affect him much, when she had tried to go for another slap he had blocked hand and gripped it. He pulled her closer.


    "Who is he?" He was now panting in anger.


    "Who is who?" she asked confused.


    "Don''t play fucking stupid with me HAILEY! who was the guy at the restaurant?" Valerian growled out.


    "What is it to you?" she challenged him back.


    "Its not any of your busi...."before she could finish her sentence he cut her off,


    "It is my business Hailey! Is this how you''re with every guy huh. How many more are they? What other side job do you do by the streets?"


    She was shocked at what he was insinuating.


    In a nonchalant voice she replied, "if they''re many guys, what''s it got to do with you?"


    "Don''t you dare test me, Hailey!" he said through gritted teeth."I will show you right now on this table how much better I am, than all those little boys you play with." With that he left.


    Since that incident he hadn''t seen Valerian, he had left and went to Italy and then France for his business meetings. she had found out through Clara what was going on as she was the only one he bothered to inform.


    Today at work was no different it was a slow day, it was Monday of course and she did the same procedure of going into his office and putting her work down by his table, she saw her pile and he better check the work cause she wasn''t going to work for nothing.


    Thursday came and it was a bit of a medium pace day, she got into his office to get the biggest shock of her life. There on his chair was Valerian and on top of him sat this woman and they were giggling, until she opened the door and they were staring at her..


    what to do Hailey?, to greet or not to greet. Valerian was staring at her with a cold expression, and he didn''t seem to care. "Evening, sorry to interrupt" She mumbled. She quickly went and put the file on the table.


    She walked out the office and closed the door behind her and she ran over to Clara,


    "who is that?" She asked her.


    Clara looked angry, "that would be Mr Valerian''s long time bitchy lover Charlize." "Oh she is really beautiful. Have they been dating for very long?"


    "Yep, for about three years on and off." Said Clara.


    When she was done talking with Clara she went and got dressed for her part-time job. When she arrived she was so happy to see Matt after a long day of work. She didn''t expect the next thing to occur, when Valerian and Charlize walked in with his arm draped around her.


    She could see where they were sitting from where she was standing. Lucky Sarah was sick cause she would be heart broken. Something caught her eye when she saw Charlize waving at her direction. Please let her not be pointing at me.


    Hailey pointed a finger towards herself and mouthed "me?" and she nodded up and down in response. She went over to them, "Evening."


    "It''s you right from earlier?" why couldn''t she have just asked Valerian?


    She plastered on her award winning smile. "Yes it is."


    "What''s your name?"


    "Hailey mam." She replied to Charlize.


    She had golden locks, her smothering brown eyes, she was stunning up close. "Okay it''s decided that you will serve us tonight Hailey." Why me?


    "Would you like to order a drink?"


    " Yes get me a sangria." Said Charlize.


    Hailey turned to Valerian, it was the first time in weeks looking into his eyes since that day. "And you Sir?" His gaze was lingering for too long. She needed to play it off so Charlize wouldn''t think anything of it.


    "Would you rather look at the wine menu Sir?"


    "Just get me a bottle of chardonnay," he replied roughly.


    "Okay anything else?" Hailey looked at the both of them.


    "No, not for now" Charlize replied.


    She left to go get their drinks,


    Charlize was watching her like a hawk whilst she was walking away.


    she was looking at her with daggers in her eyes.

 Chapter 11

    She took the drinks from the bar and walked back to Valerian and Charlize, she could see from the distance that they were holding hands and he was telling her something deep and passionate. Well it''s time for her to ruin their moment.


    She cleared her throat, that''s when she caught their attention,


    "Your drinks." she took the glass of sangria and put it in front of Charlize carefully,


    Then she took the wine and the wine opener, she tried to open the bottle and she was struggling to open the wine, this took a lot of muscle and strength. At this rate she was never going to open the bottle.


    Hailey felt arms come over me, and she felt her back touch a hard chest. She smelt a scent that she knew so well. Matt had his arms over her and was helping her uncork the wine bottle. She felt relieved.


    When it was opened. She thanked Matt and in return he winked at her.


    "You are so useless that you can''t even open a wine bottle on your own." said Valerian.


    What had gotten into Valerian? Hailey thought,just pour his wine and get their order and leave.


    "Tell me Hailey, did you pretend to not know how to open a wine bottle so your boy toy could come and hold you?" Valerian jabbed at her more.


    "stop daunting her Valerian." and this time it was Charlize. "She is merely lacking in strength."


    wow they spoke about her as if she wasn''t there. "Are you ready to order?" she asked them.


    "Yes, I would like a breast fillet cream cheese and salad on the side." Charlize said.


    She turned to Valerian: "and you Sir?"


    " I would like a medium rare steak, with baby potatoes on the side".


    "Is that all?" She asked.


    "Yes." Charlize answered.


    As she was about to leave she felt a hand grab her wrist. "You better not be late with our food, Understood?", Valerian said in his serious voice.


    She just nodded and hurried away.


    "Baby why were you holding that slut''s wrist?,you could have just warned her without touching her."


    Suddenly Valerian''s head turned slowly, "what did you fucking call her Charlize?"


    "I called her a slut, that''s exactly what she is." She retorted back.


    "If you dare call her that again, you will never see me again." He said through clenched teeth. "What does it matter to you Valerian what I call her? Why did you bring me here in the first place?"


    "I wanted to have dinner with you Charlize, that''s all but instead all I''m getting is a headache"


    "Are you telling me this is not a date Valerian?"


    "When did I ever say that this was going to be a date Charlize?"


    "Don''t play dumb with me! You know that we always do this before we get back together and you know it!"


    "Well be prepared for some disappointment tonight love, because that has changed".


    "WHY?" Her voice getting higher.


    "keep your voice down now, you might make a spectacle of yourself. You will regret it later." said Valerian.


    "You didn''t answer me Valerian."


    "Well I just invited you for old time sake, and this time with a different twist. I am not going to be with you Charlize and you need to get that through you thick scalp."


    "That''s what you say now baby, but wait until I change your mind." As her leg was sliding up his leg.


    "Stop it," Valerian growled


    She peeked to the left. "You tell me to stop baby, but your pants say a different story." As her leg slid down, back to it''s place.


    "Are you even listening to me Valerian?" After it seemed like thirty minutes of talking to herself. She turned and looked to see what was taking Valerian''s attention. He was there in person but not really here and he was absent minded.


    Then she saw his being come alive and she looked over at him to see him staring at that whore! She was shaking with rage. She came over and put our food in front of us and told us to enjoy. With that she left. She would never allow her to come between her and him. Valerian belonged to her alone!


    She would make sure she would do whatever it takes to bring the old Valerian back, no matter what. Nobody stole what was hers.

 Chapter 12

    The weekend had flown by so fast, she got into the office in the morning as per usual. "Morning Clara." she greeted her.


    Before she could head into the boardroom . "Morning Hailey, boss wants to see you in his office."


    "Now?", as she looked back in shock.


    "Yes as in now." as Clara seemed to start to get impatient.


    "Do you know what it''s about?" she asked.


    "Why don''t you go find out Hailey?"


    "Okay." She nodded.


    Hailey went and knocked at his door.


    "Come in", Valerian''s voice boomed from inside.


    She walked in timidly. "Take a seat " as he motioned for the chair in front of me. She did, and he also sat down. "So you wondering why you are here, I''m sure" he said looking straight at her.


    "Yes, Sir" She replied.


    "Well I have a big business merger in Maldives, and I will need you to accompany me for a week."


    She was at a loss for words, she would see Maldives and go to the beach! She wanted to squeal so badly with joy. "Don''t look so excited yet, we are going on a business trip, not a holiday so snap out of it." He replied sternly.


    "Yes Sir." she tried to sound serious but failing miserably.


    "We are leaving tomorrow morning, so you can take the rest of the day off to go and prepare and make sure you are here at six in the morning sharp, you may go now!"


    "Yes Sir!" she saluted,oh wow did she really do that? how embarrassing. But she saw Valerian chuckle. She quickly walked out the room and leaned against the door, and there was a huge smile plastered on her face.


    She was walking back to her workplace, "Hailey." She turned and saw Clara by her desk. "what did he say to you?" as she looked at me. "I''m going with him on a business trip." She saw jealousy flash quickly in her eyes.


    "Why you? no offence, you are like the most inexperienced one out of all of us and I mean you are new!" as she was fuming with rage.


    "I know Clara, he is just making me tag along cause I have to gain experience at some point."


    "You are right, but don''t enjoy much, but I highly doubt you will have time to enjoy" as she sneered at me.


    She went to fetch her things and then she went to her apartment and started packing formal clothes, casual clothes, and some beach wear.


    "Hey Matt, I need to take the week off from work."


    "Sure, but are you okay Hails? Did something happen?"


    "No Matt, I''m accompanying Valerian on a business trip." She was greeted by silence on the other side of the line.


    "Matt are you there?"


    " Yes I am Hails" as he sighs. "is it going to be just the two of you?"


    "Yes it is" She replied.


    "Its not a good idea Hails" as he responded.


    "Don''t worry Matt I can take care of myself" as I reassured him.


    "Fine Hailey, but if anything happens call me alright". as he replied.


    "Yes I will, don''t worry Matt."


    Finally she hung up after chatting with him some more. She checked her things that she had packed. Hailey was so excited and this day was taking forever to finish and she just wanted to go already. She watched t.v for the rest of the day and finally night-time came.


    She had a hard time sleeping. She woke up at four in the morning after only getting thirty minutes of sleep. She showered and prepared. She ate her breakfast and at five in the morning she left and got to the airport at half five.


    She was by myself and she wondered if they had left her?but it was not possible. She waited and thirty minutes later she saw Valerian arrive and his driver come with his belongings. He motioned for her to come towards the check-in.


    She went over and they checked in his jet. He had his own private jet! We got seated and the air hostess got in and greeted us. "Please put on your safety belts, we are about to take off." she said as she was gawking at Valerian. then she left.


    Hailey looked out the window, "Did you get any sleep Hailey?" as he was staring intently at her intently.


    "Nope." She quipped.


    "Why?" he replied.


    "I thought you were going to leave me" as she was yawning and closing her eyes,


    "I would have not left you behind." She heard him lightly say.


    Hailey fell asleep.


    Valerian went and sat next to her, her lips were slightly parted. How delicate she looked, and how he longed to hold her. She shivered slightly and he took off his blazer and covered her. Hw pushed back the dark tendrils of her hair from her face.


    We landed and Hailey was still passed out. He picked her up swiftly and went to the car waiting for them. He set her on his lap and cradled her. she was light and the smell of cherry blossoms filled his sensations.


    We got to the hotel and checked in to the pent house suite. He and Hailey will be sharing a room as he wanted her close by, He didn''t want her far. He got to the suite and opened the bed cover and put her in. Then he went and took off his shirt and he was left in his boxers.


    He opened the sheets and climbed in the bed and pulled Hailey close to him and he fell asleep with her in his arms.

 Chapter 13

    Hailey opened her eyes slowly as the light seeped in. She turned to see on the bed side table there was a clock and it was nine in the morning which felt weird. She exiled, as it hit her they were in Maldives. She sighed and giggled in excitement.


    "What are you so happy about?" as she was bought out of her thoughts by Valerian''s voice. She yelped and fell off the bed. "What are you doing here?" she yelled at him.


    "Sleeping in our bed." he responded in an amused tone.


    She got up slowly rubbing my backside, "What I mean is that why aren''t you in your own bed? Or why aren''t we in separate rooms, you psychotic bastard!" she glared at him.


    "I thought it would be best if you were close by and I could keep an eye on you." he responded.


    "Couldn''t we have had adjourning rooms?" she replied.


    "We could have, but I chose not to" he replied in a cajoling voice.


    "But what''s the point, can''t I still get my own room?" she pleaded.


    "Enough Hailey, I''m now tired of answering your bullshit." he responded. He then got up and she noticed he was half naked. "I''m going to shower, do you want to join me" he said, looking at her seriously.


    "No, Valerian I don''t want to shower with you." She responded through gritted teeth.


    "Suit yourself." as his voice was dripping with sarcasm as he walked off and closed the bathroom door. Was he really expecting her to shower with him just because they shared the same room.


    After Valerian was done in the bathroom,she went and showered under the warm water and it felt refreshing and then got dressed.


    They went downstairs to go have some breakfast. We were sitting opposite each other during breakfast and Valerian ordered oats and fruits with a cup of coffee.


    when his phone rang, and he got up to take the call. She ordered her food and when Valerian came back , they had bought his coffee and her juice. She cleared her throat, "Is everything fine Sir?" She asked. He just nodded his head, up and down.


    Our breakfast had finally arrived and they set it down and Hailey saw Valerian looking at her plate, and he scowled. "You sure ordered the whole place." He said sarcastically. She didn''t know how to respond and she looked at what she had ordered.


    She ordered bacon, scrambled eggs, croissant, bagel, ham, and rashers with a glass of strawberry juice. Her plate was full. She just shrugged and began to eat. She washed down the food with the juice.


    The waitress came and asked if they were fine or needed anything. Valerian responded saying he was fine. "Wait," she told the waitress and her mouth was slightly full. "Can you please get me more bacon, eggs and a croissant please."


    "Coming right up." the waitress responded.


    Valerian looked at her with a bewildered expression on his face, the waitress bought her the side dishes she had ordered, she thanked her then commenced eating. She finished her whole plate and she felt replenished.


    "You should slow down when you eat, I almost thought you were going to choke for a second there." as he looked at me with a smile on his face.


    "Don''t worry sir, I''m used to eating like this so it isn''t a problem." she responded cheerfully. "Who said I was worried about you?" as he chuckled.


    "Whatever." she scowled.


    "I''m going to a business meeting, you can go and swim at the beach, I will join you later." said Valerian.


    "Really!" she replied.


    "Go before I change my mind." he responded.


    She ran to their suite and changed into a bathing suit, then she went down to the beach. She had sun bathed for almost an hour, when felt a shadow cover her sun.


    She took off the sun hat of her face, and she was ready to give someone a handful when she noticed it was a guy with bleach blonde hair and sea green eyes.


    "I saw you laying here, and I was wondering if you would like to play some volleyball?" he asked. "sure" she responded, as Hailey got up. He took a hold of his hand and they went to play volleyball. She hadn''t had this much fun in such a long time.


    They were many good looking guys, and they were very charming. They would wink at her and lightly hug her. Which she wasn''t complaining to at all.


    We played the whole day, she had learned how to surf a bit and she was a bit good at volley ball. The guys name was Alex, and he was very charming. She looked at the time and she realized she had to go. Hailey gave him a hug and darted off.


    She got to the suite and Valerian was on his computer, he looked up and he told her to get dressed for dinner. She to go get ready. The dress that was waiting for her was a black dress and she clipped her hair back and wore black heels.


    She came out the room and looked at Valerian, when she saw him look up from his laptop and he really gazed at her for a long time. "you look decent." he murmured.


    "Um, thank you." not knowing how to really reply, was it even a compliment?.


    He shut his laptop and she saw he was wearing a tux and he really looked good, but no way in hell was she going to tell him that. We went down to dinner and we watched a fire breathing performance.


    A five course meal was served which she enjoyed fully and felt content watching the performance. So many girls came up and complimented Valerian, which shocked her because couldn''t they tell that he would just play them? or the fact that he had his main girl, Charlize.


    A girl named Lindsay came, and she was sitting next to Valerian and they were having a long catch up session. It looked like Valerian knew her very well and the way she was comfortable touching him meant they were way more than friends.


    Hailey sat there and she felt invisible, until she felt a hand on her shoulder.


    "would you do me the honor of dancing with me?" she looked up to see Alex, he was well cleaned in a tux with no tie. She got up, excited to see someone she knew. She hugged him, and he twirled her around.


    "Of course I would love to." Hailey responded, as he lead her to the dance floor and his arms were wrapped around her so tightly. She could feel his warm breath on her neck, which was nice. The music was really soothing and she was getting lost in it.


    They danced to so many songs and when she felt tired, he lead her back to the table. He opened her chair and she thanked him. Alex sat besides her and she thought her imagination was running away with her as it seemed like Valerian was angry, cause he was giving her and Alex subtle glares.


    He was still talking to Lindsay. Hailey and Alex were deep in conversation about their likes and dislikes.


    "Let''s go." Valerian said curtly.


    She turned to Alex "goodnight, I had a lovely evening."


    "You are welcome." he responded, as he ]gave her a tight hug.


    Valerian and Hailey got into the elevator, and they got to their penthouse suite. She went to the bathroom to remove her makeup. When she got in the bathroom, Hailey felt hands go around her waist and she started.


    "what are you doing?" as she looked at him.


    "Claiming what is mine."

 Chapter 14

    Hailey was sitting at the beach and she was happy, yet sad at the same. She was sad that all these days that had flown by so fast and that they would be returning tomorrow. she sighed and went back to enjoying the sun. Over the past few days she had helped Valerian with some of his work.


    If he didn''t need her assistance she would sit at the beach and occupy herself for the whole day. Sometimes he didn''t come to their room till late, she would be asleep then. He got up very early when she was asleep she assumed.


    His behavior had changed, she remembered when he was behind her in the bathroom and he had said "claiming what is mine."


    He had trailed kisses down her neck, and then he came back up, and licked her jaw.


    "Stop." as she pushed him away. She could tell that he was drunk because when he spoke his words came out in a slurp.


    He looked at her "So you want me stop because I''m not fucking Alex or your precious Matt right?"


    "That''s not it, you are not in your right mind." She responded. She snapped out of her thoughts when she realized that it was late and she had to head back to the suite.


    She got in and to her surprise she found a dress on the bed and a letter on it. The letter said for her to meet Valerian downstairs after she finished getting ready.


    She went into the bathroom, showered and got dressed. She put on her make up and heels and headed downstairs. She spotted Valerian but he wasn''t sitting alone.He was sitting with Lindsay. She walked over to them thinking that tonight was going to be long.


    She started to wonder if Alex was there, and if he would come and keep her company. She had seen him a couple of times and they had nice chats and lots of fun together.


    She pulled back the chair and sat down. Neither one bothered to even acknowledge her, so she said nothing.


    Hailey started looking around for Alex, where could he be?


    "Are you looking for someone?" she turned to hear Lindsay''s voice.


    "No." she stammered. she peeked at Valerian who wasn''t making eye contact with her and was acting as if she didn''t exist. What had she done so wrong?


    The waiter bought wine and then they ordered some food to eat. The food arrived and it was delicious.


    It was really annoying for Hailey to watch Valerian and Lindsay flirt in front of her. Couldn''t they get a room for crying out loud?


    Hailey kept on drinking more and more wine. If she wasn''t intoxicated, she would think that she saw Valerian looking over at her with a bit of concern.


    "More wine?" the waiter asked.


    "Yes please and leave the bottle whilst you at it." She slurred.


    She kept on pouring more and more wine until Valerian took the bottle from her hand, "that''s enough Hailey."


    She scowled at him.


    "would you like to dance?", She turned and saw Alex. she felt so dizzy yet excited.


    "Yes!" she got up stumbling a bit and he caught hold of her.


    "Are you sure you are fine to dance Hailey?" Alex asked. She started dragging him to the dance floor. They started dancing and after three songs she was feeling too woozy as the alcohol was really kicking in.


    She started to see doubles, then black spots and then everything went black.


    Hailey woke up feeling too warm and fuzzy. She slowly opened her eyes. How long was she asleep for? She tried to get up but something was hindering her?


    She started to remember last nights events that had occurred and she wondered what had happened next. She must have been embarrassing.


    She looked at the bed side table and saw it was two-thirty in the morning. That''s why there was a soft glow from the moon.


    When she looked down, Hailey saw an arm around her and she caught her breath. She looked to the side and It was Valerian.


    She looked over at him and realized he had beautiful eye lashes and his face was very beautiful. It looked symmetrical.


    She looked at him and decided to touch his eye lashes to see if they were real, as they were so long. She then decided to touch his eyebrows as they were perfect.


    "Hailey what bullshit are you up to now?" His eyes opened slowly.


    Her hands were frozen on his face as he had caught her red handed. She couldn''t discern from his facial expression what he was thinking about. He was probably uncomfortable.


    "Nothing," She answered in a low voice as she was trying to also keep calm. He looked at her and before she could ask what had happened to her, he answered her.


    "You were so drunk to a point that I had to carry you in." he said. As she was about to interrupt him, he cut her off. "By the look on your face you are wondering what happened and I will fill you in on the details later. and lastly you are welcome." said Valerian.


    "Welcome my ass."as she rolled her eyes.


    "Did you just roll your eyes at me?"


    "No, I was just looking for another galaxy in the back of my head." she responded tartly.


    Next thing he had moved so abruptly that he had pinned heron the bed.


    "what are you doing?"she felt his warm lips press on her temple and she stifled a moan. She felt his hand glide up her thigh then higher until his hand was underneath her shirt as he was still sucking on the same spot on on her neck.


    "stop Valerian." She asked as her words came out in breathy whispers. "


    Are you sure?" as he was whispering and his hot breath was on her neck.


    It was hard to think about anything else and the soft glow of the moon was illuminating the room and there a beautiful sea breeze and Valerian''s intoxicating scent. It clouded her judgement.


    Then she felt his lips on her cheeks and then they were on the corner of her mouth. Then his mouth was on hers and he was kissing her with so much hunger and passion that she couldn''t help but return his kisses.


    His tongue was in her mouth and demanding from the get go. She felt his hot hands exploring her body. Her breasts felt swollen where he had passed his hands through. Her legs were fully wrapped around him and that made her feel his erection more.S


    She started to grind on him with a faster pace. And her breath came out in very loud moans, and he started grinding against me faster and faster. She touched his bare chest and then that''s when she realized that she wasn''t also wearing her shirt anymore.

 Chapter 15

    Do you think I''m some whore that needs to be tested out!, I''m not one of your mistresses or your flings! I am a human being not just some challenge for you! The audacity you have to even think that you could just use me like some toy! You are just a sick bastard." Hailey spat out the words.


    Valerian got up abruptly and left the room, she didn''t see him for the rest of the night. The next morning he wasn''t back. She finished packing and then she had some breakfast. She took her bags when it was time to depart. She went downstairs and saw a car waiting for her.


    She got into the car and saw Valerian sitting across, he didn''t even look up or speak to her. He was reading the papers in his hands.She also didn''t say anything and they drove to the airport in silence. when they got there, they boarded onto the jet.


    They didn''t say a thing to each other and Hailey decided to go to sleep because she was tired. She woke up when the air hostess told her to fasten her seat belt as they were about to land. She did so and when they landed, they got into the car and they dropped her off first.


    She opened her apartment door and felt a weird sense, she really wanted to go back to Maldives. She put her bag down and put on pajamas it was eight at night and she went straight to bed. She was tossing and turning thinking about the events that took place.


    It made her angry to think that Valerian thought she was cheap. And the most ridiculous thing was all because she was nice to guys. The funny part he was man whore not her. She was barely in any relationship. And what baffled her the most was that instead of apologizing he ignores her as if It was her fault.


    It was Monday morning, and she was still boiling with so much rage that she just decided to skip work. To hell with it, Hailey switched off her phone and didn''t care if she was fired at all. Monday lead to her skipping work, and also on Tuesday.


    When she switched on her phone, she noticed she had so many missed calls, probably voice mails saying that she was fired. She ended up skipping work too on Wednesday and she just watched t.v the whole day.


    Her door bell rang, and she ignored it. Screw whoever is at her door.


    The following day, she slept through it. It was now nigh-time.


    "Hailey?"


    She suppressed a yelp when she saw Valerian standing in her door way, how had he even gotten into her apartment? As if he guessed her question. "I broke your door down, I will get it fixed." Valerian said and she was at a loss for words.


    Valerian broke down her door, he was concerned that something had happened to her. He hadn''t heard from her in four days and she wasn''t answering any calls. He had come earlier during the week but she didn''t answer the door.


    He walked through her leaving room and into her room, it was a mess there. They were papers and clothes lying everywhere. The windows weren''t opened and when he spotted her, she was slumped on her bed which made him really worried.


    "Hailey?" She turned a fraction. He could tell he had frightened her, as she looked ready to scream. Then she realized it was him. She then had a confused expression on her face as to how he was there. He looked at her and noticed that she didn''t look her best. Her hair was not brushed and she had circles under her eyes.


    Valerian went over to her bed and her eyes didn''t show anything. "Why haven''t you come to work?" He asked her.


    She looked at me, "Seriously, you came all this way to fire me, you man whore." He was taken aback by her words, she looked like she could breath fire. "No Hailey, I was very concerned about you and your whereabouts."


    "Well you have found me Sir, now you can fire me and be on your way."


    He looked at her and he felt exasperated. "I didn''t come here to fire you, you can sulk and cry all you want but I better see you at work on Monday!"


    With that he walked out.

 Chapter 16

    After Valerian left, She was fuming. Who did he think he was? He just broke into her house and gave her an ultimatum! She kicked off the bed covers and got out of bed, and went to check on her door. When she got there weirdly enough it was intact, and it wasn''t broken. She examined it and it wasn''t broken.


    She locked her door and sat on the couch. She was burning with rage at the thought that the reason why Valerian would want her to keep her job was so he could have power over her. She went back to the events that had occurred in Maldives.


    Was she really going to have sex with Valerian? Her own Boss for crying out loud! and did she really have a reason to be mad at him? since she knew how he was like with women.


    But Hailey hadn''t expected him to utter those words. They kept replaying it in her head and they made her shiver down her spine.


    The door bell rang again and she was scared Valerian was going to knock it down again. So she went and unlocked it.


    "What do you want now?" As she swung open the door, but it was Matt with a confused look on his face.


    "Where you expecting someone else?" he asked her.


    "No of course not Matt." She stuttered.


    He raised his hands, "I bought wine and some takeaway with dessert." She wanted to cry because Matt knew her so well.


    She opened the door wide and he got in, and sat on the couch as she got the wine glasses, and set them on the table, She cleared the living room and then she sat next to Matt on the couch and put on their favorite t.v show . The food smelled so good and she hadn''t eaten in a long time.


    After eating and watching some t.v, Matt turned to her"Hails, what''s been going on with you lately?" She didn''t know if she wanted to lie to him as he knew everything about her. She sighed "stuff I don''t want to talk about Matt."


    She stiffened when he said "Is it Valerian?" She Looked over at him, "what would make you think that?"


    "Ever since you came from Maldives, I haven''t seen you Hails, you skipped work and no offence you look like a hot mess." She just nodded. "so what happened?" as he kept on probing. "I swear Matt when I''m ready to tell you, I will."


    "Okay, but promise you will tell me when you''re ready." He smiled lightly


    "I promise."


    They turned to the television and carried on watching the show.


    Hailey got up,"Matt I''m going to shower and I will be right back."


    Hailey got out and blow dried her hair. Then she changed to a clean set of pajamas and put on some socks and tied her hair into a messy bun.


    She decided to tidy up her room as it was a huge mess and she made her bed. After that she decided to go to Matt in the living room.


    She went to the living room, "Matt you better have not watched a lot without me!" When she turned, sitting across him was Valerian.

 Chapter 17

    She froze, and wanted to yell at Valerian as to why he was here but thought better of it. She didn''t want Matt to go ape shit on him if he saw that Valerian was the reason why she was upset. And he already suspected him.


    Hailey walked in the living room and resumed her seat beside Matt, who looked furious. She looked at Valerian, "Evening, is there a problem Sir?"


    Valerian looked at her "No, I came back to check up on you and I bought you food."She grimaced a bit as Matt gave her a questioning look.


    "She already ate with me." Matt responded quickly.


    "Is that so?" Valerian answered. She decided to speak so she can clear the air because Matt and Valerian where in some weird staring competition.


    "Okay can we carry on watching t.v." She said.


    "Hailey can we talk about what happened between us at Maldives ?" said Valerian.


    Her eyes opened wide in shock, what was wrong with Valerian? Was it necessary for him to blurt it out like that. Hailey had felt Matt stiffen beside her which meant that he was furious.


    She decided to play if off, "We will discuss it at work, we don''t need to talk about business at home."


    Valerian cocked his head to the side "so now you see us as business, but what we did..." Her eyes widened and she cut him off as she realized that he intended to reveal to Matt what they had done at Maldives.


    She turned to Matt "Its getting late, you should head home, I don''t want you to miss the last bus."


    Matt gave her a questioning look. "Its okay, I can just stay over Hails." She tipped her mouth "No you can''t." She stood up.


    Matt got up, looking upset. Its okay she would explain to him later. He wore his coat and she walked him to the door. "Night, Matt" as she hugged him.


    "Night Hails, be careful and call me if you need anything." with that he turned and left.


    She closed the door and sat down across Valerian, she didn''t say anything. Valerian suddenly moved and he came and sat next to her on the couch. He took the remote from her hand and switched off the television.


    Before she could protest, he cut her off, "I would like to clear a couple of things with you Hailey before we go back to work, so I would appreciate it if we acted like adults."


    She wanted to slap him again, instead she turned a fraction and looked at him. "You wanted to talk, so talk Sir."


    "Look Hailey, that night I wasn''t thinking straight." Valerian said.


    "sure you weren''t." as her voice was dripping with sarcasm. He looked at her seriously "look. I know I hurt you real bad with my words, and just so you know I felt really bad." as he raked his hand through his hair.


    "Wow is that a apology I hear asshole?"


    Valerian was giving her a stern look at the choice of words that she had used, Hailey wasn''t going to back down and let him get away with it.


    "You know Sir, you are quite the man whore, I mean you play girls day in and day out, yet you have the audacity to accuse me! I mean I could name a whole list of girls but you and I both know that it would take me about half a century to name even half of them."


    He gave her a cool look, "You and I both know that is a bit of a stretch now."


    "Anyways lets forget everything that happened at Maldives, and move on."


    Valerian had knocked on the door and to his horror it was Matt who answered, what was this dip shit doing here? He looked equally surprised to see him. He walked past him and sat on the couch.


    Thank goodness Hailey showed up seconds later and she also looked surprised to see him.


    She had asked if there was a problem, which made me feel a bit unwelcome, it was as if he were intruding on her and Matt but he couldn''t back down and let Matt take what was meant to be his.


    He had bought her food, but it turns out she had already ate. Valerian looked her over, she really looked pretty with her hair in a messy bun. What was he thinking? When did he ever find girls pretty and why was he here again?


    Valerian started to ask her vague questions about what had happened in Maldives which he knew she couldn''t answer in front of Matt because He knew she would be too embarrassed to answer them in front of Matt and that would make him feel at unease and put him in his place.


    Valerian saw Hailey trying to cover up, when he had started with the questions. Matt''s reactions made him press more.


    Hailey had let Matt go home, which was the perfect time to talk about what happened. He had to grit his teeth as she hugged Matt. Why was he reacting this way towards this girl? I mean could have any girl that I wanted.


    Hailey sat down and he decided to sit next to her on the couch so he could see her reactions better, she was still angry about the ordeal that had occurred in Maldives, but why did he feel the need to explain himself to her?


    She called him an asshole, which had taken Valerian aback and at the same time, it had made him more attracted to her. No-one had ever swore at him or talked back the way she does. To think she was young and had such a strong character.


    We hadn''t even discussed much about what had happened in Maldives.


    He didn''t know why he felt disappointed when she said they should forget everything that had happened at Maldives and move on.


    In all honesty how could Valerian forget, when he had enjoyed kissing her way more than he should have.


    He wanted to desperately convince her otherwise but thought better of it.

 Chapter 18

    Monday morning came and Hailey was determined to act as if nothing had happened. She walked in the office.


    "Hailey, where have you been? I was worried sick!" Clara said,


    "I was very sick so i couldn''t make it." she responded.


    "You have to fill me in on what happened in Maldives."


    Hailey tried not to stiffen, "obviously."


    "We have a work meeting now Hailey, so drop your things and head to the main boardroom." Clara and got in, and she sat close to the head of the table and she decided to go sit at the middle. They were all waiting now to get addressed.


    Valerian walked in and he scanned the room and he found her eyes, and then he looked away and the meeting commenced. There was going to be a business dinner with other companies, and it was formal.


    They were going to donate to charity, so they can help the unfortunate and also mark their brand. They discussed a few key points and then they were dismissed. Everyone was talking about it, and how excited they were to see rich guys they could date.


    During lunch Clara called me over "Can you do us favor, please?" She looked at the other girls who were pleading with her. "Okay." She said, trying to also fit in.


    "Can you go to Valerian''s office and ask him if we can bring dates to the charity dinner?" said Clara.


    "You guys are crazy, I don''t want to get fired!" she replied.


    "But you already agreed Hailey, they can''t fire you. I mean you skipped work for a whole week and they didn''t fire you." Clara persisted.


    She finally summed up her courage and she knocked, but no answer came. She knocked twice more, "come in." his voice boomed from inside.


    She jumped a bit and opened it slightly. She saw Valerian sitting by his desk.


    He looked up. As she was closing the door, Clara gave her a thumbs up. She walked up to him and started fidgeting. She didn''t know how to bring up the topic.


    Valerian stopped writing and he looked up at her. "Ye?s" he looked at her inquisitively. She started to fumble with her words. "You see, I mean Morning, no afternoon Sir."


    "Hailey what do you want to say?" he asked with a irritated look on his face. She summed up the courage and blurted out "Is it okay to bring dates to the event?."


    She looked at a puzzled Valerian, "You not bringing a date, case closed" he growled out. With that she scurried out the room. She went back to Clara and the others by the front desk, "he said no."


    "You didn''t try hard enough!, please try once more." and then she was shoved towards his office. She knocked again and peeked in. Valerian put down his pen in exasperation, "what now?"


    "You see sir, the other."


    "No Hailey!"


    "But I.."


    "No buts, my answer is final, no dates!"


    She went out, and went to the other clerks "He said Yes!"


    They all cheered. "we knew you could do it!" as some of them gave her hugs. The day finally ended and she kept brain storming as to how she was going to convince Valerian to let the girls at work bring dates.


    She changed into her waitress uniform and got into the bus, nothing came to mind as to how he was going to convince him.


    She got to work and greeted Matt, who didn''t seem too eager to greet her. She worked for an hour when she heard the girls gasping.


    She looked over at their direction and saw Valerian and other powerful men. Matt lead them to a table of six.


    The girls started squabbling over who was going to serve them. Sarah called Matt over, "Which one of us should serve him?" she asked.


    "I''m sure Valerian would be more than pleased to have Hailey serve him." She looked at Matt and couldn''t help but hear the bitter tone in his voice.


    Matt shoved the drinks menu on her, and she knew this was her chance to actually ask Valerian to let them bring dates.


    She walked to their table and gave them their menus. "Evening Hailey." She noticed the familiar voice to be Colhane''s. She put on my bright smile "evening sir."


    Hailey took every man''s drink order, and when it was Valerian''s turn to order, She went to him "A long Island." as he shut the menu and handed it back to her.


    She bent a bit and her lips were next to Valerian''s ear, which made all the other men stare, even Valerian was a bit puzzled. "Sir?"


    Valerian motioned his hand for me to carry on "can we bring dates to the dinner?"


    Her question made Valerian pause, he looked done at her question.


    He pushed her forehead back with his finger, she took that as her queue to leave. She went and sent in the order for their drinks.


    She found a bunch of pissed girls "what the hell, Hailey! keep your hands to yourself!"


    She wanted to explain but this was not the time, and not to them anyways. Her head was on the line as she had lied about the date situation.


    She got their drinks and set them down, when she got to Valerian''s she set it down, "please sir, my life is on the line." as she had bent again to whisper in his ear.


    Valerian turned , and our lips almost touched which made her draw back a bit. "We are ready to order our food."


    She took their orders and sent them in, she found a bunch of angry stares waiting for her. When the food was ready, she took it to them. She did the same thing when it came to Valerian "You won''t even notice them."


    He looked very annoyed, "can we please eat?" She backed away and left feeling hopeless. When they were done eating she cleared their table.


    Then they ordered coffee, and she bought it to them.


    When she had given Valerian his, she was about to turn away, when she felt a hand grip her wrist. It was Valerian and her heart started to beat fast. Everyone was staring.


    "I will let them take dates." before she could thank him,he carried on speaking,


    "Only if you are my date."

 Chapter 19

    "You can tell me your answer after work." as Valerian let go of her wrist. She went and started clearing things, as she replayed Valerian''s question over and over again in her head.Did he really mean that or was he toying with her?


    Why would he want her as his date out of the girls he could have? After every customer was gone and they had cleared everything, they locked up.


    "Bye Matt."she said to him as he walked off without saying anything. She really needed to clear the air between them, She didn''t like the rift that had formed. She was going to have a proper conversation with him rather soon.


    The problem was that she was very busy this week, She would try see him on Sunday after dinner and ask him why he was upset.


    When she got home and realized that she had a message on her phone, Hailey opened it and it was Valerian. "come to work early tomorrow morning at seven in the morning, we have to discuss about Saturday evening. "


    "Will do, goodnight." as she responded to his message.


    She went to bed and set the alarm for early in morning and it came too soon. She woke up, showered and got dressed and got to work at seven in the morning sharp. She went to Valerian''s office and the door was open. She peeked in and found him staring at her with a bemused look on his face.


    "Morning, Sir." as she got in and sat down by the chair across him.


    "You are on time,that''s good." as he replied. "Did you think about my proposition?"


    Hailey sat up a bit more "Where you being serious?"


    "I don''t have time to play around Hailey, Is it a Yes or No?"


    "It''s a yes Sir." She spoke fast so he couldn''t take back his offer.


    "Good, to see you have this much enthusiasm." as he took his pen, so he could carry on with his work.


    "Are we matching?" She blurted out. Valerian looked at her weirdly "We can if you want to." She nodded, she really liked color coordinating. She didn''t know what else to do as work started in thirty minutes. So she got up from the chair.


    "Where are you going?" as he asked me.


    "Outside." she responded.


    "Sit down, you can go when your work time starts." Valerian said.


    She slowly sat back down and watched him work. It was really fascinating and she must admit he really looked good whilst he was working. Hailey got engrossed watching him.He looked up and their eyes met. She looked away, as he chuckled and went back to his work.


    The day was going at an okay pace, during lunch the girls called her over. "Do you have a date to the dinner Hailey?" She didn''t want to tell them that the boss was actually her date.


    "Of course she doesn''t." Clara answered for her.


    All of them started laughing. "We should find you one."


    She looked at them "No, thanks I already have one." With that she went to lunch and started eating her sandwich. She was starving and gulped it down fast as she enjoyed the sun on her face and the fresh air.


    Working in an office was really hard and exhausting. The hours went by fast and she finished her work and went home. Thursday came in a blur and she needed to get a dress for Saturday''s dinner. She kept postponing it and now she really needed to go.


    All the other girls already had their dresses and their make up sorted out. The day left her super exhausted and by Friday, She was worried that she still had nothing to wear. She was going to have to rush to the mall on Saturday.


    Saturday afternoon came, she woke up super late in a frenzy. She put on her tracksuit, tied her hair into a bun and dashed to the mall. She went through a bunch of dresses that didn''t suit her taste,It was really hard finding a suitable dress as Valerian could potentially out-dress her.


    She had told him that she would wear something white, so he could match her. Now she was wondering if she had selected the wrong color dress code. She knew Valerian wouldn''t appreciate her changing last minute or he would realize she wasn''t prepared at all.


    So she started looking harder for a white dress, she didn''t know what had possessed her to select that color. Red would have been much easier to work with.


    She rummaged through many stores until she found the dress that really loved and was the right color, she purchased it. Hailey had spent so much time at the mall. Valerian had said he would fetch her at six thirty sharp and she didn''t want to be late.


    It was five thirty in the evening when she got home, which gave her too little time to get ready. She knew Valerian would be here exactly the time he had said he would be here. She jumped into the shower and got out. She dried herself and put on a robe.


    She started doing her make up and then her hair. By the time she was getting ready to put on her dress, it was six thirty at night, which meant he was outside. She put on her dress quickly and the matching heels, then she made sure to have switched off everything. She locked the front door.


    When she got outside and found Valerian leaning on his car, with a body hugging suit, He really looked sexy. She was walking up to him, and she became a bit hot at the way he was assessing her up and down. She started to have a bit of flash backs to what had happened in Maldives. Why was she thinking about that?


    When she reached him, she smiled at him as he opened the car door for her. She slid in and he closed the door, and he came in and sat next to her in the back seat. He nodded for the driver to go.


    "You really look beautiful Hailey." as he took her hand and placed a kiss on it.


    This left her a bit surprised, she gathered her thoughts and managed to form a sentence "Thank you."


    He grinned at her,"You welcome." His grin was really sexy. She snapped out of her trance and looked outside.


    The rest of the ride was a bit silent as she was nervous, everyone would look because it was Valerian of course. She hoped the other girls wouldn''t be angry, and she would try make them understand.


    She felt Valerian''s hand on her clasped hands. "we are here." She jumped a bit.


    "It''s okay, you are here with me, I got you." as he reassured her. He climbed out the car and he opened her door and he put out his hand for her, which she took.


    Valerian linked her hand onto his elbow and he smiled down at her, as he assured her. She took a deep breath and they started walking.


    They were greeted by a couple of people , which she smiled to and Valerian didn''t flinch one bit. Hailey took a deep breath as they walked into the the event.


    As they were on top of the stairs and they were in view, everyone was staring at them.

 Chapter 20

    Haiey looked around and the lights are so bright, and they''re blinding. There is no turning back. Valerian and Hailey walk down the stairs that is covered by a red velvet carpet, he was supporting her well and she felt steady. She could see so many people staring and muttering under their breaths.


    She was quivering lightly, they got to the bottom of the stairs and a waiter came to us "Evening Sir and Mam your table is right this way." They followed him and when they got to their table Valerian opened her chair."


    Thank you." She said to him.


    "You are welcome little one." he responded.


    "Little one?" She questioned him, as has never called her that.


    He just shrugs "It suits you."


    She look around and It looked very beautiful, they were glistening chandeliers. Their table is round and there is beautiful decor on it. There is silver cutlery and it is very shiny, and the flowers on the table are very beautiful. The stage is also decorated, and they are a bit close to it.


    "It''s beautiful." She says more to herself. Valerian smiles at her "It is." She is in awe at how gorgeous the place is. Suddenly Valerian''s hand goes up and he pats her head slowly.


    "Look who we have here." She looks up to see Charlize. Then next to her is Colhane opening a chair for her to sit. She doesn''t say anything, Valerian and Colhane shake hands and exchange greetings. She stands up as Colhane extends his hand towards her. She takes it thinking he wants to shake it but he doesn''t he places a kiss on it. "Evening to the more lovelier than ever."


    "Evening Colhane." she responds. She sits back down next to a tense Valerian. She sees Charlize sneering at her. The m.c gets on the stage and says a few announcements that she doesn''t even pay attention to. She snaps out of her thoughtless process when Valerian hands her a glass of wine.


    "Thank you." as she takes the glass and starts to drink the wine. The wine was really nice and bubbly in her mouth. "come, let''s go." as Valerian whispers to her. She takes his hand as he leads her close to the stage. There she sees a beautiful emerald necklace.She is in awe, Valerian takes the necklace and he tells her to turn around. She does so hesitantly, then he puts it around her neck.


    Hailey touches the necklace, and Valerian turns her so that she is facing him. "It''s looks beautiful on you." She smiles at him "Thank you sir." he escorts her back to her seat and she sees that everyone is staring at the necklace that is around her neck. She had never had this much attention.


    They sit back down, "beautiful necklace." Colhane comments. She just smiles at him in response, She sees Charlize''s gaze boring into her. She feels so glad when the food comes, it was a starter then the main meal then dessert. She felt very full, and sighed in happiness.


    "Did you enjoy your meal?" as Valerian whispered in her ear. Then she also did the same thing back "I did." Then Valerian and Hailey kept on whispering back and forth as it becomes an inside joke. "What are you two whispering about?" said Colhane.


    "If it''s nothing then you guys should speak out loud." this time it was Charlize.


    "This conversation is between Hailey and I, if you two have a problem then why don''t you also whisper among-st yourselves?" said Valerian.


    She just sat there quiet, not saying a word. After a while she tells Valerian that she is going to the restroom and this gives him time to speak to Colhane and Charlize. She walks into the restroom and then she goes to the bathroom stall. After she had relieved herself she go out and started touching up her make-up.


    Then the door opens and she sees Clara and the other clerks from their work. "Look who it is?" as Clara sneers at me. "Hey guys." she responds, as she is happy to see familiar faces. "Don''t hey us!" as one of the other girls respond. "Now you think you are too high and mighty for us since Valerian is your date."


    "No I don''t." as she is confused with their tone."Valerian only wants to sleep with you." as Clara laughs. She doesn''t respond to them. The bathroom door opens, "Get out all of you." the girls scurry out and she sees it''s Charlize drinking out of a wine glass. "Thank you." She says to her, so relieved that she had helped her out.


    "Don''t thank me yet." as she responds. She looks at her and she really looks stunning in a light pink dress with fluffy heels that matched. She looked like a real life princess. "How can a girl like you possibly think that Valerian bought you here for no reason." Charlize said.


    Hailey just stares at her and says nothing."He doesn''t love you, he has done this before and we always do this all the time. We break up and we get back together. You are just some whore he wants to get his pants into. After that you will go back to the low class bitch you really are. Do you really think we can''t tell a fake from afar? You can''t even afford a quality dress!"


    She just stands there shocked, as Charlize carries on "Do you know how much that necklace is worth? One million dollars and you are not even worth a dime of it! You managed to make that necklace look really cheap, you filthy slut! You don''t even have the decency to earn your job like the others but you had to sleep your way to the top! Take off that necklace!" as she was growling at her.


    Hailey takes off the necklace and she hands it to her. "Good girl, and by the way." She turns to her, then she feels a liquid being splashed on her. It was red wine, her dress was drenched. She wanted to hit her but what was the point.There would always be mean girls like her in life who never seemed to mature.


    "Oh, white is not a good color on you sweetie." as she went to one of the bathroom stalls. She tried to wipe her dress and It was no use. She was making a bigger mess,the stain was much bigger, when she walked out the bathroom and saw Valerian talking to some girl and it was clear he was flirting at the way she was laughing and batting her eye lashes.


    Hailey decided to go outside, she saw a beautiful garden and sat on the bench. The moon was glowing and there was gentle breeze which was really soothing. She thought about what Charlize had said, it sucked to feel like an outsider. She knew didn''t belong with them at all.


    Hailey wanted to go home and watch movies with Matt. She sighed at the thought that Matt was upset with her. Who else could she tell about her problems but him.


    Then she feel a jacket go around her shoulders.

 Chapter 21

    "A lady like you shouldn''t be sitting alone." Before she could turn, Colhane was sitting next to her. She saw him assessing her, but he didn''t say anything. "I wanted fresh air." She responded. "You don''t mind if I join you right?, I myself could use some fresh air too, It''s a bit crowded for my liking." he responded.


    "Is this not your type of scene?"Colhane said.


    "It is, it''s just I needed a bit of a break." As she tried to evade the question.


    "I''m glad that in life some people know when to be the bigger person." as he looked at her.


    She decided to ask him a question that she has been dying to have an answer to, "Why is Charlize your date? Isn''t she Valerian''s ex?" Colhane seemed to be taken aback by her bluntness as he chuckled a bit.


    "She insisted that I bring her, she normally comes with Valerian, but this is the first time that he hasn''t asked her to be his date. And Valerian doesn''t mind at all."


    "Oh." as it was all she could afford to say.


    "So, Hailey, how did Valerian manage to make you his date?"


    "It was more of a bargain." She replied, as she remembered the events that had occurred that lead up to this moment of her coming with Valerian. The sad thing was that the very same people she did it for now treated her like dirt, they didn''t even bother to ask how she had managed to do it. Hailey didn''t even want to come to this dinner in the first place, but now she was forced to because she wanted them to be happy, to get what they wanted.


    What was the use of regret now, everything had happened the way that it had.


    "Are you okay?" as she was bought out of her thoughts by Colhane.


    "Yes." She replied quickly. She wasn''t in the mood to tell Colhane her sob story. All she knew was that this would pass, and she would mind her own business as she had always done in life. Hailey wanted her life to go back to normal which meant hashing things out with Matt.


    "There you are."


    Hailey and Colhane turned to find Valerian.


    "I''ve been looking every where for you." as he carried on.


    Wow he must have been looking in a very difficult place as she sarcastically thought.


    "If you don''t mind Colhane, I would like to have a word with Hailey."


    "Of course not, after all she is your date." said Colhane.


    Colhane stood up and he looked at me, "are you fine?"


    "Yes, I am alright." she responded to him.


    Then she felt a cold breeze when she realized that Valerian had taken off Colhane''s blazer from her shoulders. "You forgot something" as Valerian handed the jacket back to him. Colhane took his jacket reluctantly and he left.


    Then Valerian took off his jacket and she saw him pause a bit as he noticed the red wine stain on her dress. He took off his jacket and then he put it around her shoulders.


    Hailey felt warm once more, "Thank you." she said.


    "You''re welcome." he responded calmly.


    He tilted his head as he looked at her neck. She tried to cover it with her hand. "What happened in the bathroom?"


    "Nothing." She replied.


    "Hailey just stop it!"


    "Stop what?" she retorted.


    "I saw Charlize wearing the necklace, I put on you!"


    She didn''t know what to say or what excuse to come up with as to why she was wearing, but she thought of something. "I gave it to her, it was too heavy for me, plus it didn''t match my outfit"


    Valerian gave her a look of disbelief, "what happened to your dress?"


    "I spilled wine on myself by mistake, I hit the waiter on my way to the restroom."


    "Why are you sitting outside?"


    She gave him the same answer that she had given to Colhane "I wanted some fresh air."


    "JUST STOP LYING TO ME!" he growled out, "tell me what Charlize did to you?"


    She was getting angry at him for raising his tone at her, who did he think he was?


    She turned and gave him a stern look.


    "You can see for yourself what she did! So stop it Valerian I don''t want to talk about it for crying out loud. Now leave me be. You might be my boss at work but you''re not the boss of me everywhere, so get that through your thick skull!"


    As she was turned away, he didn''t say anything as he just sighed.Then he took out his phone and from the corner of her eye she saw him dialing a number.


    The other person must have picked up the call as she heard him answer a couple of times, then he told them where they were sitting. She was wondering what this was all about. Yet she didn''t bother to ask as she wasn''t in the mood.


    "I will see you soon." then he hung up.


    They both sat there, both of them weren''t speaking to each other. Her back felt very rigid.


    Thirteen minutes later a man approached them, he was carrying a pillow on the one hand and a package on the other. Valerian stood up to greet him. Then he suddenly turned to her "Hailey, come here."


    "Why?" as she looked at him.


    He gave her a stern look that didn''t leave much room to argue.


    He didn''t repeat what he said, then she went up to him and she was handed a bag. "Go change into this." She took the bag reluctantly.


    This meant she would have to pay him back the amount no matter how much it cost.Hailey went to the bathroom, and saw a white beautiful gown that was similar to the one that she was wearing. She changed into it and twirled around, she didn''t feel as bad as she did before.


    She wouldn''t let anyone ruin this gown, as they had with the previous one.


    When she came out he smiled at her approvingly. "You look lovelier than ever Hailey."


    "Thank you Sir for the dress."


    "Don''t mention it,"


    Then he motioned for her to come over. Which she did.


    She went next to him and to her amazement, the man from earlier on was still there and on the pillow was a diamond tiara. It was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen in her whole life. It was sparkly, and it shined so brightly. She was mesmerized by it.


    Valerian took the tiara and he put it on her head, Hailey was more than dazed. She felt like a real-life princess, then he pulled out his elbow for her. "shall we my queen?" he asked.S


    She laughed a bit. "That''s what I like to see Hailey, smiling suits you more."


    She linked her hand through his elbow, then he smiled down at her mischievously. He then leads her back into the room and to her shock and horror he leads her to the dance floor. He pulled her close and he started dancing, she was following his lead, and he would twirl her once in a while and she would be met by many glares. She looked over Valerian''s shoulder and there she was met by familiar vicious eyes.


    It was Charlize, she looked as if she wanted to kill her on the spot. She wouldn''t give her the chance again to ruin her second dress and evening for that matter. She wanted the feeling of being a princess to last for as long as possible, now she knew how Cinderella felt like and this was a moment that she would never forget.


    "I hope this feels like a fairy-tale" as he whispered in her ear. "It does." She replied lightly. Valerian''s scent was really intoxicating her in a good way. It felt nice to be held in his steady arms, yet she felt no assurance that she belonged in them. How many girls had he done this for and how many did he have, and how many more were there to come?


    She pulls out his arms as she gets a wake up call and she gets a puzzled look from him. "I''m tired, can we go and sit down?"


    "Sure." he responds as he leads them back to their seats.They get to their seats and Valerian once more opens her chair for her and she thanks him.


    "You look stunning again." Colhane exclaims to her again. "Thank you." she replies sincerely as she remembered he had come and checked up on her before Valerian even noticed that she was missing. It made her a tad upset that Valerian hadn''t even realized she went outside for a while, but why was she upset? He was doing what he does best, flirting with other women.


    What made her any different? He was used to playing girls and making them feel special as he had the means to do so. It seemed as if the only person that had moved his heart was Charlize, as he usually went back to her. She didn''t think he would ever be over her. She was his first love after all.


    "Are you okay?" he whispered in her ear.


    "I am fine." She reassured him.


    "You didn''t look fine seconds ago Hailey, what were you thinking about?"


    "Nothing Sir." She gave him a firm look that suggested that he better drop the case.


    And thank goodness he did, he didn''t ask her any further questions after that. The evening carried on smoothly, except from the times she would get evil looks from Charlize, which was most of the night.


    She didn''t let her get to her. If she had a problem she would have to deal with it herself. And this time she wouldn''t give her the tiara that Valerian had given her, that she has been eyeing so much. How can someone so beautiful as her be so vicious.


    She wondered what Valerian had seen in her? There obviously had to be a strong reason, but she couldn''t ask him that now.


    Hailey wasn''t paying attention, when all of a sudden Valerian got up and people were clapping for him. She also started clapping rapidly. He then walked up on the stage, then he started giving a speech about being a top entrepreneur. She was zoning out a lot. She was trying very hard to keep up with what he was saying. "I would like to thank my date Hailey Hartfield, for accompanying me here." Everyone turned and they looked at her, she felt a bit uncomfortable.


    Valerian, closed off his speech then he thanked everyone.


    Then we stood up and clapped for him as he came down. He then gave her a kiss on the cheek and they sat down.

 Chapter 22

    "Hailey! Hailey wake up!" She can hear the voice from a faint distance. She tries to place the voice, but she can''t. Then she feels herself being lifted off the ground, her body feels too heavy for her and she sinks back into a deep sleep.


    She opens her eyes and she is in an unfamiliar place. Her head is throbbing so badly, She tries to shift but she hurts herself instead. "ouch." she groans.


    "I''m so glad you''re okay." She turns to see Valerian.


    She starts to panic, "how am I here?"


    "Don''t you remember?"


    Hailey lets out a small "No."


    "Someone broke into your house and they attacked you" as he raked his hand through his hair.


    "That''s not possible." as she responds in disbelief, who would do such a thing to her? What had she done so wrong. She started to think who had motive, Charlize maybe? But with what time since they were both at the dinner. She started to shudder at the thought that someone actually wanted to harm her.


    How was she going to protect herself? She couldn''t hide forever and It gave her shivers that someone out there was trying to get her, and she didn''t know the reason for it.


    "I bought you some food, you have been out for a while now. I''m sure you must be starving." Said Valerian.


    She looked at the food and he was right as her stomach started grumbling. He chuckled a bit when he heard that.


    When he placed the food in front of her, she dug in to the plate very fast.


    "Geez Hailey, you will actually kill yourself eating like that."


    Hailey didn''t pay attention to him at all as she continued eating her food. Valerian came and sat next to her on the bed, but she didn''t mind him as the food that she was eating was very delicious. Then she felt him wiping the sides of my mouth. As he was laughing.


    "What?" She asked him.


    "It''s cute the way you''re eating. You look like a little chipmunk."


    "Of all the animals you could compare me to, you decide to compare me to.."


    Before she could finish her statement he then cut her off "swallow your food first." as he wiped the side of her mouth again.


    She nodded as she swallowed her food. "that''s my girl."


    She gave him a sarcastic look. Then he just winked at her. After she was done eating, "Are you full?" Valerian asked.


    "I''m more than full." she responded.


    Then he took the tray from her lap and went with it. Then she started to notice her surroundings. The room that she was in was too huge. It had a big bed and the roof was made of glass, you could actually see the sky and the stars from the bed. It was really neat.


    When he came back, she asked him "Is this your room?"


    "Yes." as he ruefully smiled at her.


    She leaned back "what time is it? I have to go."


    "An intruder broke into your house and they hit you." She saw his hand was clenched into a fist. "Thank goodness I heard your scream, or else it might have been worse."


    "Are you being stupid? What if they come back? Tell me what you will do?"


    "I don''t know yet." She couldn''t afford to move to a new place as of now. She had to find a plan, and real soon.


    "Stay with me for now until you figure it out." said Valerian.


    "No thank you." as she said it quickly. She just couldn''t chance staying with him. What would people at work think.


    "There is no buts, I will move you into the guestroom tomorrow and you will meet Ruiza my house keeper."


    "Get some rest." as he switched off the light and climbed into bed. "What are you doing?" she asked him.


    "Going to sleep." he replied.


    "We have shared the same bed before, so what is the issue now?" as he pulled the blanket over the both of them, She couldn''t fall asleep, so she looked at the sky, it was really beautiful, it almost felt surreal.


    "Beautiful isn''t it?"


    "Yes." She replied.


    "Usually I look at them when I feel alone, but it feels amazing to share this view with someone, I don''t feel so alone." as he was looking at the sky.


    She looked at his face, so he felt lonely?


    "Where are your parents?" She asked.


    "They are in Lanstria with my sister, I rarely see them." as she saw his eyes had an infinite amount of sadness.


    She shifted slightly towards him, and she lay her head on his chest. He looks puzzled at first then he puts his hand on her small back. "Go to sleep." She whispers to him.


    Then she felt him press a light kiss on her head. "Thank you, princess,"


    "Goodnight to you too."


    The weekend passed by and it was very nice staying at Valerian''s house. Ruiza was very nice, she was in her early fifties. She was very vibrant, and she had warm brown eyes to match her hair. She made her feel at home, and loved keeping her company.


    She loved her cooking, and it was strange for her to wake up and do nothing. She was used to cooking and doing her own laundry.


    Valerian and Hailey arrived at work, he opened the door for her and walked in self-consciously. She had tried to enter by herself, but he had insisted he open the door for her. She also wanted to come much earlier so people wouldn''t notice but he was bemused by her behavior when she woke him up early in the morning.


    He had groaned and snatched the blanket from her and went back to sleep. Someone wasn''t a morning person after all.


    "Morning sir." as Clara and the other receptionists greeted him. She saw them glaring at her.


    She quickly walked to her office, wanting to create as much space as possible. She went, and worked the whole day. She had tried to greet Clara and the others earlier on, but she was ignored, and Hailey could hear them laughing at her. They were calling her names.


    So now she sat by herself and ate her lunch and focused on her work.


    At the end of the day when everyone was leaving, Valerian came, "Let''s go."


    "Wait outside I forgot something in the office." as he turned to get it


    She took her things and went outside. Clara and the others were outside, they all ignored her.


    "I''m so excited to go to blue room." as Clara exclaimed.


    "Yeah we deserve this after a long day of work." as the others responded.


    Then Valerian''s car pulled up. She was hoping that Clara and them, would have left.


    Valerian came out "Have a great evening Sir."


    "Thank you, you too ladies." as he replied them.


    Valerian opened the door "Hailey what are you waiting for, let''s go home."


    She stiffened as walked over, and got into the car. She noticed Clara''s glaring at her with so much animosity.


    "How was your day?"


    "It was good and yours Sir?"


    "I can''t complain." he replied.


    We got to his place and she went into the guestroom and changed.


    Ruiza called her down for dinner and she went. Valerian wasn''t there, and Hailey knew he was probably preoccupied with work.


    After dinner, she went to sleep. Hailey woke up the next morning and got ready, when she went downstairs, she found Valerian reading a newspaper and eating his breakfast. "Morning." as she greeted him. "Morning Hailey." as he greeted her back very warmly. Which left her very surprised.


    They ate, and drove to work. When she went into the room that she worked in, she found her work was torn. Some of the other paper work she had done was missing. Hailey went and took fresh paper and started anew again. She knew who had done this but didn''t have any evidence.


    She worked very hard, when she felt something cold touch her cheek. She looked up and it was Valerian. "I haven''t seen you outside since morning." as he gave her a can of soda.


    "What time is it?"


    "Its three in the afternoon." as he chuckled.


    "What?" she screeched. Hailey didn''t expect it to be this late. She was really focused on her work. "What are you busy with?" as he looked down at her work. "this." as she showed him. "very impressive." as he assessed it. She felt a wave of pride when he said that and something else.


    After thirty minutes Valerian left, it was actually nice to have company. She needed to go the bathroom, so she got up and went into the staff bathroom and got into one of the stalls. When she was done peeing, she tried to unlock the door, but it wouldn''t unlock.


    She pulled and pulled really hard and finally it opened, the next thing, she was drenched in water that smelt like fish guts. Hailey saw the bucket that was set above. She couldn''t believe this had just happened. She went to the mirror and squeezed water from her hair and uniform.


    She really smelled bad, As she came out the bathroom there was a huge burst of laughter. She walked back to her workplace and did her best to ignore them.


    When She got there, she opened the door to find all her work torn up into shreds again, she ran inside but immediately fell. She saw that there was oil on the ground. She landed painfully on her fours, she crawled to her papers and picked them up and put it in the dustbin.


    She started her work all over again, it was five at night, she started to pack up her work, so she could take it with her. She heard the door opening, and saw it was Valerian. "Let''s go, what''s that smell?"


    "It''s me." She replied quietly.


    He looked her over "what happened to your knee?"


    She looked at her knee and noticed that it was bleeding. "I don''t know." she replied. She wasn''t in the mood.


    She started to walk towards him, but she was limping a bit. "Wait."


    She looked up at him quizzically, he came over and he carried her bridal style. "Put me down, I''m fine I can walk on my own, I swear."


    "Stop it Hailey! You are hurt." as his voice was now authoritative.


    She kept quiet, she hid her face on his chest. He was really warm, She didn''t know how he could tolerate the smell as she really stunk. On the other hand, his scent was really intoxicating her. He smelt very nice. She looked to see if we were out, but she was only met by angry stares, that were in disbelief. It was Clara and the others, she could see Clara''s fists were folded. Hailey turned her head back into his chest and nuzzled against him, which he chuckled to. The driver opened the car door and he got in with her.


    She was cradled on his lap. she tried to move out his lap as they drove off, but his grip only tightened, and she gave up and continued to lean against his chest.


    They got to the house and immediately went to use the shower, she showered for over an hour, until she had taken the foul stench from her completely. She changed into pajamas and went downstairs, there she found Valerian already sitting. She sat next to him as her plate was set there.


    Ruiza puts her dinner in front of her. "Thank you."


    "You are welcome my dear."


    "It''s nice to have someone to eat with at home." Valerian smiles at her.


    It''s a genuine smile and she can''t help but to smile back at him.


    She digs in to her food, when she is done, Ruiza takes their plates. "Dessert?"she asks.


    "Not now." Valerian responds to her. Then he turns his attention to her.


    "What happened at work Hailey?"


    "What do you mean?" she responds.


    "Please don''t act stupid, it doesn''t suit you at all."


    "I fell."


    "How?"


    "It was...."


    Before she could answer, Ruiza came and behind her was Matt.


    "I got your message, let''s go."said Matt.

 Chapter 23

    Hailey rushed upstairs, and fetched her bags, she collected everything, and rushed downstairs. she handed Matt her bags and he took them. "I will be waiting for you outside."


    She turned to Valerian who was staring at her with a blank expression that she couldn''t guess what he was thinking. "Thank you, sir, for letting me stay." He turned to her "Why didn''t you tell me that you were planning to leave?"


    "I was planning on telling you during dinner." she responded. "Didn''t you like staying with me?" as his voice appeared sad. "No, I did, it''s not you. It''s just me, I have a lot of issues to sort out with Matt." as she tried to reassure him. "Okay." as he turned and walked away.


    She went to Matt outside, he opened the door for her and she got in. He didn''t say anything for the whole drive, when they got to his place he took the luggage and followed him. He made them tea and they sat on the couch. "What happened Hailey? You had me worried sick."


    She turns to Matt and tells him everything, from the charity dinner, to the breaking in and to the struggles that she was facing at work. He listened to her intently, "wow." was all he said when she was done. "I called you because you are the only friend I truly value, I want us to patch things up. I hate it when we are like this."


    "I hate it too Hails." as he smiled at her.


    Then he turned serious "Do you have an idea as to who broke into your house?"


    "well I thought it was Valerian''s ex Charlize, but I don''t know anymore, I couldn''t get evidence or anything." As she answered him.


    "We need to find out soon who is behind this Hails, it''s not safe."


    "Yeah." as she agreed.


    "Why don''t you tell Valerian what the other staff are doing to you at work, it must be unbearable."


    "I can''t Matt, this will pass. I don''t want to give them the satisfaction." as her eyes were drooping a bit.


    "You must be tired, I fixed the guestroom for you." as he was yawning.


    "Thank you." as she got up and hugged him. She felt so much better when he reciprocated. They called it a night as it was already late. She went to the guest room that he had prepared for her and she went to sleep. She got to work, and they were all called in for a meeting. This time it wasn''t Valerian who came in to address them, it was a lady who was tall, and she was very pretty. She looked very professional, with brownish blonde hair.


    "Morning to some of you who don''t know me, I am Brie and I''m the head of the marketing team, so I know you''re wondering why I called you in for a meeting. Well, we are going to have a company photo shoot, we have hired a male and a female model who are going to be representing this company. The photo shoot is taking place at the end of the week, so I want everything to run smoothly as this is a big deal for this company and that is why Valerian hired me. "


    "I expect full corporation and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I will be here this week to supervise you guys also on your work. Don''t worry I am not here to baby sit you guys nor to rain on your parade, but I''m here to better you guys. Thank you for your time, and since no one has questions you are all dismissed."


    They all got up and went back to their work. Hailey got to her workplace and resumed her work. After some time, she saw Brie talking to Clara, then she left. She started to wonder where Valerian was because she hadn''t seen him the whole day and she couldn''t even ask anyone where he was because it would create commotion.


    She finished her work and went to the restaurant to work on my other shift. I worked, and I kept looking at the door with the hope of seeing Valerian walk through, but it didn''t happen. I tried to not make it obvious, but Matt kept giving me peculiar glances, but he never showed. We went to Matt''s house, we had dinner and then we went to bed.


    Friday came, and she hadn''t seen Valerian for the whole week which was weird, and Brie had done what she said she would do, she had monitored everyone. Hailey was glad that the other girls had left her alone and didn''t pull any stunts or any problems for her.


    They went to the photo shoot venue to observe it, she was excited as she had never seen a live shoot. The photographer was there, and he looked really cool. The male model arrived, and he really looked good looking, he was tall and lean. His jaw was chiseled with ashy blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. They were now waiting for the female model. One of the secretaries came and they ran towards Brie. Brie looked like she was fuming, she went to the photographer and told him something.


    After 30 minutes of still waiting, Brie came back and she turned to everyone "I''m going to have to cancel the shoot, the model we hired is unable to make it."


    She nearly fainted when she saw he was pointing at her. "she could work."


    "Are you sure Gaston?" as Brie asked him. "I''m sure." he replied.


    "Hailey." as Brie motioned for her to come over. "Go to the dressing room and get changed, we will pay you exactly what we''re paying the model."


    "Okay." she nodded as she went to change, she really could use the money. She went to the dressing room and they did her make up and she got dressed. She came out feeling nervous, as she had never taken a photo shoot ever.She walked to the set. "Not bad." as Brie nodded.


    "Okay so Hailey, right?"


    "Yes." as she nodded.


    "You are going to model with Blake, I need you two to stand there and I will instruct you what to do, so you don''t have to be nervous."


    She nodded as she went to stand next to Blake. "Okay, lets start with a couple of shots, just to test things out." as Gaston said.


    Then Blake pulled her into his arms "relax Hailey, I got you." as he grinned down at her. She just nodded. Gaston took a couple more shots, then Blake turned me around so that her back was to him, and his hand went around her waist and he pulled her too close.


    "CUT!" She turned to the voice and noticed it wasn''t Gaston.

 Chapter 24

    They all turn and see Valerian walking towards them and looking serious, he stops next to Brie. "Morning Sir."


    "Morning Brie, where is the female model?"


    "well she couldn''t make it and Gaston suggested that we use Hailey. And she said she doesn''t mind to model and of course we are paying her."


    "I see, you can carry on with the shoot."


    "Action." Gaston yells, as they carry on in the position that they were in. Then Blake pulls her closer. "stop!" They turn to Valerian''s voice, "I think it would be a bit better if you had a bit of space between you two." They nod, and move a bit apart.


    "Okay carry on my prodigies." as Gaston says. Even as they have a bit of space apart, Blake puts his hands on her waist. "That won''t work!" they turn to Valerian again. "No touching is required." They proceed with the shoot and Valerian keeps on interrupting them.


    "I can''t work like this, I quit. Find another model who will do all these ridiculous demands of yours." Blake storms out. Brie tries to chase after Blake in vain, she stands there as she fidgets a bit. She looks up and is met by Valerian''s eyes, he doesn''t blink, so she decides to look away.


    Brie comes back, "I don''t know where we will find another model in such short notice."


    "I will model with Hailey." as he takes off his suit jacket and hands it to Brie, then he walks up to her slowly as he rolls up the sleeves of his shirt. Valerian comes next to her and he holds her very closely. "Perfect." Gaston yells and commences with the pictures.


    They shoot and after half an hour they are done.


    "Thank you everyone."said Brie.


    She goes to the changing room and changes back, she can''t stop replaying the way Valerian held her. She walks out the changing room and she sees its time for them to go home. She gets outside as makes her way to the bus station when a car stops by; the window rolls down. "get in." and She sees it''s Valerian. She walks into the car and sits next to him, She decides to send Matt a text letting him know that she might be a bit late.


    They get to Valerian''s house and he opens the door for her. They get into his house and she follows him slowly. When he closes the door, he comes up to her and pulls her into his arms and he plants a heavy kiss on her, hailey kisses him back but then she comes to her senses and pushes him away.


    "Is this why you called me over sir?"


    "No, Hailey. I fucking missed you." he growled out.


    "I can''t stay away from you because it drives me absolutely insane to not see you for that long and to see another guy touch you like that." he carried on. She doesn''t know how respond to him. "I have something to show you Hailey." as they exit his house. His car pulls up and they get in. They drive, and get to the airport, and they move to his private jet.


    "where are we going?" as she looked at him puzzled.


    "You will see."


    Once they take off, she falls asleep.


    She wakes up to the sun blinding her. She turns to find Valerian standing by the window. She wakes up slowly, "where are we?" as she asked.


    "we are the city of love."


    Her eyes turn wide "Paris?" as she stutters.


    "You right." he replied.


    Hailey runs to the window and opens the curtain and they are really in France. The view looks amazing, it is breath-taking


    "how? What about work sir?"


    "Don''t worry about work, I told them we had an emergency business meeting to attend to. So, go and shower and get dressed, we have a city to see."


    She nodded as she raced to the bathroom and got dressed. When she got back in the room,


    "How long are we going to be here for Sir?"


    "About a week or so, depending if I have a work crisis or not." as he replied her whilst sipping on his coffee. She was so excited, when they were done they walked out and went down the street, she took many pictures as she had never been here and when will she ever get another chance like this one?


    "How many pictures are you going to take Hailey? You are even taking pictures of things we have back home."


    "You know taking pictures has never killed anyone and this is a moment to remember."


    "Okay, come here." as he sighed.


    She went next to him, then he turned to a by stander "bon apr¨¨s-midi pouvez-vous prendre une photo de nous?" (Afternoon can you take a picture of us?)


    "Bonjour oui je peux" (Hey yes, I can) as the bystander replies and takes the phone.


    "sourire."and she can tell the bystander is telling them to smile. Valerian puts his arm around her, and she smiles.


    "You speak French?" she asks him after they have taken the picture.


    "Yes, I do."


    They spend the rest of the week, trying new things and food.They take more pictures, and get dinner. They laugh out through dinner and she can''t remember the last time she felt this happy. Valerian tells her about his busy schedule and the projects he has been up to, she doesn''t remember the last time she had seen him have a gleam in his eyes.


    The wine is delicious and bubbly. This was their last night here so she wanted to indulge as much as possible.


    They go back to the hotel, and it''s beautiful, she gets in and goes to the bathroom to undress, but she can''t unzip her dress. As she looks at the mirror, she finds Valerian standing by the doorway. "Let me get that for you." as he walks up to her and unzips her dress. She makes eye contact with him through the mirror and she freezes, he turns her around and he presses his lips on hers. She doesn''t know if it''s the alcohol or what, but suddenly she forgot her fears and she let her dress fall onto the ground.


    He looks at her, and he pulls her into his arms as he lightly bites her ear "You are fucking beautiful Hailey." She helps him take off his shirt and felt his tight muscles, then he kisses her down her jaw line, to her neck and then to the swell of her breasts.


    He unclasps her bra and drops it to the floor. "Let''s get rid of these too shall we." as he takes off her underwear. He picks her up and she is left straddling him.  Chapter 25

    She slowly opens her eyes and there is a bit of sun that is streaming in, even on weekends it was hard to enjoy a full hours of sleep. She looks at her ceiling for a couple of minutes, she had moved back to into her apartment as they were no more threats. And living with Matt was a bit hard, he was always inquisitive ever since she had gotten back from France, as she remembers their previous conversation that nearly turned into a fight.


    "Hailey what is it that happened in France that you don''t want to tell me about?"


    "Matt I already told you the details that happened there, I don''t know what more you want me to tell you."


    "You damn well know that you aren''t telling me the whole truth."


    "What other truth could there be? I don''t know what more you want me to say."


    "Hailey you have been acting differently and you have been preoccupied."


    "I told you that it is work."


    "Stop lying to me! What did Valerian do to you? Or do I have to go ask him myself?"


    "Don''t you dare Matt, it is none of your business what him and I do, He is my boss and that is all that there is to it. So drop it and whilst we at it I''m moving back to my apartment."


    "Look Hails I don''t want to fight, I''m just concerned about you."


    "I need my own space Matt."


    She is drawn out of her thoughts as her phone beeps, she quickly checks it and see it''s just a spam message.


    She lays back, things just seem to get more and more complicated. Valerian was another issue that had to deal with when she saw him at work.


    She remembered the morning after, she had woken up and showered. She took her luggage and had waited for him in the car where she fell asleep. She had slept half of the journey back and the half of the time she had pretended to have been asleep.


    She spent half the day laying in bed, then she finally decided to get up and shower.


    Monday morning came, and she went to her work station, where she hid the whole day. As soon as the time to go home hit, she decided to pack her bag and head out. "Where you planning on leaving without seeing me?"


    She looks up and sees Valerian by the door.


    Her heart starts beating wildly.


    "Is there anything you need sir?"


    "You." he responds.


    She continues to clear her desk without looking at him.


    "Talk to me Hailey."


    "Is there work that you need done sir?"


    "I want to talk about what happened in France." as he rakes his hand through his hair.


    "Is there a meeting or business proposal that happened that you want me to look into, Sir?"


    "STOP IT HAILEY FOR FUCKS SAKE, YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT."


    "No, I don''t Sir, if you have nothing for me to do then I will take this as my cue to leave."


    He turns, and he walks out slamming the door, she sighs as he leaves. She had to keep things professional, if people found out that she had sex with the boss they would automatically assume that is how she got the job, she wasn''t going to compromise her work. The other staff was finally leaving her alone and she didn''t want to stir up drama again.


    The week was going by slowly, it was only Wednesday, and she was doing a fine job in ignoring Valerian. Yet sometimes she would zone out and remember that one night in Paris, how it felt to be in his arms. She would also start heating up a bit and then come back to her senses.


    If she had to act as if nothing happened she couldn''t be daydreaming about him, she had to get him out of her mind entirely.


    Clara barges into where she is working "Sir wants to see you in his office now."


    She gets up and walks to his door, she knocks.


    "Come in."


    She walks in timidly to see him standing by the window facing outside.


    "You called for me Sir."


    He turns around and he gazes at her. She looks at the floor.


    "Just tell me why you''re doing this Hailey?"


    "Doing what Sir?"


    "Stop bullshitting me, you know what! Why are you avoiding me and why are you acting as if nothing happened?"


    She doesn''t say anything.


    He walks up to her and he cups her neck and tilts her head upwards. "what did I do so wrong Hailey?"


    She tries to avert his gaze. "Look at me."


    She looks at him tentatively. "I want you so much Hailey and in so many ways."


    "In what ways do you want me to help you sir? So that I can make your job much easier."


    "You know I''m not talking about that, why don''t you want to talk about the night we."


    "If this is not work related then may I please leave sir?"


    "Why are you doing this?"


    "Doing what sir?"


    "You may leave." As he lets go of her.


    With that she turns and leaves his office. Why did he want to talk about that night? She knew that he was her first but to him she was probably his millionth girl. Hailey felt sad at the thought that she was just one of his other girls. That this didn''t mean as much to him and it did for her.


    She went to her office and when it was time to go home, she went and changed into her night shift uniform.


    When she got to her apartment, she found Valerian waiting for her.


    He leans off the door, "I have been waiting for you."


    "For what sir? Work hours are done, and you shouldn''t be here."


    "I can''t help myself Hailey, please hear me out."


    She looks at him, waiting for him to go on.


    "Are you angry with me about what happened that night?"


    "No and I don''t want to talk about it!"


    "Why?"


    "Sir, that''s none of your concern"


    "Dammit Hailey, I know that I am your boss and you don''t have to emphasize it all the time."


    "That''s what you are, my boss and nothing more so if you don''t mind I would like to go and rest. I have had a long day."


    "I want us to go back to normal Hailey."


    "But we are sir, as it should be. You as the boss and me as your worker."


    "Don''t do this Hailey."


    "Are you done Sir?"


    "I will leave." as she watched him walk away.

 Chapter 26

    Two weeks had passed, and she hadn''t seen Valerian in a while. Hailey didn''t know why it bothered her a bit, at the least expected times she would confuse him with someone walking by or she would be beet red when she remembered Paris. It had been a magical night for her.


    Now she had pushed him away which was for the best as she didn''t want him to be with her out of self-pity or guilt. She rubbed her temples as she shakes the thoughts out of my head. Clara walks in "Hailey there want to see you in the front desk."


    She closes her laptop and she gets up wondering who is looking for her. She walks out into the front office and there she sees someone standing and she is not quite sure who it is. She sees Clara and Maggie giggling.


    "She is here." then the stranger turns. "Haley." as he walks towards her with his arms open and he engulfs her with a hug. She pulls back after a minute, "Alex what are you doing here?"


    "I came to see you of course." as he chuckles.


    "You couldn''t haven''t possibly come all this way to just see me."


    "Very well you got me, let''s have dinner tonight."


    "Sure."


    "What place do you suggest?" Alex asked.


    "Je Taime, I work there and after I work a bit you can come, and we can sit down and have dinner together."


    " That sounds perfect, I guess I will see you later in the evening then."


    "Sure." as she smiles at him. With that he turns and leaves. "Bye ladies."


    "Bye Alex." as they giggle among-st themselves. They had resorted to ignore her unless someone was looking for her or if it involved asking for something, but that was better than being bothered by them.


    She walks back to her work place and finishes off her work. After work, she gets up and changes into her waitress outfit and she makes her way to the restaurant. She gets there, and finds Matt, "Hey Matt."


    "Hey, how was work?" he replies.


    "Just a long day that''s all and you?"


    "Same." as he chuckles.


    "Oh yeah one of my friends is coming here at eight is it fine if I sit down and have dinner with them here?"


    "Sure Hails, any friend of yours is a friend of mine."


    "Thanks Matt."


    They start serving customers, She had three hours to work till Alex got here, so she works very hard, so she can have the break. She takes her apron off when eight strikes.


    She sees Alex walking in and she waves at him, he sits at the back room that is outside.


    "What would you like to drink?"


    "Aren''t you joining me?"


    "I am, I''m just getting us drinks and placing our order."


    "Oh okay." he orders a bottle of champagne for the both of us and lasagna, which she makes it two. She goes and places our orders as she takes the wine glasses and set them on the table and the lasagna. She finally sat down across him. "I thought you would never finish."


    "sorry I work here, and I am on duty, but my friend did a favor for me and let me have dinner, but I can at least wait my own table to make up for it you know."


    "Very clever, well this looks delicious."


    "I will send compliments to the chef."


    "I would appreciate it if you did." said Alex.


    "Of course,"


    "And I also send my regards to the server." As he winks at her.


    "Why, thank you very much." as she bows lightly.


    She gets up to open the champagne, but Alex insists upon doing it, "I don''t want you to serve me, we are having dinner as two friends."


    "Okay." as she laughs. He pours champagne for the both of us, she takes a sip and it tingles in her mouth. "so how have you been Hailey?"


    "I have been okay, there is not much to talk about, except that I work two jobs. What about you?" as we dig in to our meal. "Well I am here to expand my business and close deals but that''s not a story for now."


    "Oh okay." as she leaves the matter, she wonders to herself what kind of business he did, that he had to come down here, but she would ask him about it later


    "Have you been surfing still?" she asked.


    "Yes, I love it, it is refreshing, and it gives me time to free myself and not worry about much."


    "Wow I''m jealous." As she swoons over the imagery that he is painting.


    "You should come with me this weekend."


    "Sure, I would love to." as she says it with sarcasm.


    "I''m being serious."


    "If I had the money, I would definitely come with, but I don''t. Maybe sometime when I can afford it."


    "I can pay for you, you know."


    "I know you can, but I don''t want you to."


    "But you promise to go with me, the minute you get the money?"


    "Of, course. I also want to learn how to surf, it seems like a lot of fun."


    "It really is Hailey."


    They eat, until they are full, and carry on laughing, she had forgotten how much fun Alex was. Her whole week had been glum, but he was like a ray of sunshine making her laugh.


    "You look beautiful when you smile Hailey."


    "Thank you." she smiles warmly at him.


    The sliding doors open and then a bunch of men walk in, which she doesn''t pay attention to, as she carries on talking to Alex.


    "Isn''t that Hailey?"


    She thought she was hearing things, but she definitely knew someone said her name. Her eyes flicker a bit and there she sees Colhane and next to him is Valerian staring at her.

 Chapter 27

    She doesn''t believe her eyes, where was he all this time? "Are you okay?" as he snaps her out of her thoughts. "Yes, I am." as she forks food into her mouth. Then Alex rubs sauce from the side of her mouth. "thank you." as he smiles at him.


    "The pleasure is all mine." as he chuckles and carries on eating. "I must say you guys make exquisite food."


    "why thank you Alex, I think you should come more often then."


    "Trust me, I plan to."


    "Are you guys okay?" She looks up to find Matt staring, but she can''t figure out what he is thinking. "Hailey what do you recommend for dessert?"Alex asked.


    "Can we get the famous cheese cake and chocolate cake please." as she smiles at Matt.


    "Aren''t you going to introduce me to your friend Hailey?" as he emphasizes the friend part. "Of course, Alex this is my best friend Matt and Matt this is my good friend Alex." they exchange a hand shake.


    "One cheesecake and chocolate cake coming up." as he turns and leaves. "So, are you and that Matt guy close?"


    "Yes, we are very close."


    "Not in a relationship type of way, right?"


    "No of course not we have a brother, sister type of relationship."


    "That''s good." as his hand reaches out and he strokes her cheek. "Your cheesecake and chocolate cake are here." as he sets them down and he gives them a quizzical look. Alex drops his hand.


    Matt looks like he wants to say something, but he doesn''t, and he just leaves, "thank you." as she calls after him, but he is long gone.


    Matt had given her the cheese cake and Axel the chocolate. They start to eat, when Axel scoops a piece and holds it in front of her mouth. He motions for her to eat it, she opens her mouth hesitantly and his fork goes into into her mouth.


    "How is it?"


    The chocolate cake melts into her mouth. He laughs "your face says it all."


    She forks her cheese cake and holds it up to him which he invites in, "and?" she asks.


    "that''s good stuff Hailey."


    "then I''m pleased."


    "How long are staying here?"


    "as long as it takes." said Alex.


    "why?"


    "You will soon know Hailey."


    "Sorry I didn''t mean to pry."


    "You didn''t, what are your plans for the weekend?"


    "Nothing much I guess."


    "Great, because I have plans for us and you can''t say no to me."


    "Fine, but where are we going?"


    "Curious much, you will see"


    "Okay." as she smiles and she carries on eating her cake. When Alex and her are done she walks him outside, "I will see you soon." as he places a kiss on her cheek and he pulls her into a tight hug.


    She embraces him back,she watches him get inside his car and drive off. She goes back to where they were sitting, and she clears the table, She comes back with new cutlery and resets the table. "Excuse me." Hailey turns to see one of the business man at Valerian''s table calling her, oh gosh why me of all people, but I do work here as I fight with my conscious.


    She walks over to them and averts her gaze from Valerian. "You work here right?"


    "Yes Sir."


    "what would you recommend for dessert?"


    "Our famous cheesecake or chocolate cake."


    "Hey Hailey." She turns and to see Colhane was the one speaking. "Evening Sir."


    "How have you been?"


    "I''m good thanks and you Sir?"


    "I''m great thanks."


    "Can we get those for the whole table" as the business man cuts off Colhane.


    "Is that all?"she asks.


    "Does anyone else want anything else?" as he asks them.


    "No."


    She goes, and hands in the order.She hadn''t realized that she was holding in her breath. When the order is done, she takes the cakes and places them in front of them. "Enjoy." as she is aout turn away and leave, she feels a hand grip her on her wrist, and it is the business man who had called her over.


    "How come this cake doesn''t come with you?"


    "sorry?" as she is confused.


    "I saw you feeding that guy earlier, I could pay you way more for that service."


    "I''m sorry I''m not interested."


    "Come on don''t try to act so modest now, there is nothing to be ashamed of love."


    Hailey tries to loosen his grip on her wrist and its almost impossible.


    "Get your fucken hands off her or else I will cut them off for you."


    We all turn to see a fuming Valerian. "Valerian, what do you care? She is just a pretty whore." Valerian gets up and he yanks her hand away. "The deal is off, don''t ever show your face in front of me."


    Colhane gets up "I will take care of the bill."


    Valerian nods and he leads her away.

 Chapter 28

    Valerian had arrived at Je Taime hoping to see Hailey, he had missed her immensely. He scanned the area, but she wasn''t there nor was she watering. "Is outside fine, Valerian?"


    "Yes." he replied distantly. When they were led outside he didn''t expect to see Hailey with another guy for fucks sake and on top of that she had acted as if she hadn''t seen him.


    "Isn''t that Hailey?" as Colhane asked him. He saw her eyes flicker a bit which meant she had maybe heard them, and he hoped she did, so she could be uncomfortable, but she wasn''t she was laughing with him so much.


    He nearly lost it when he saw him feeding her the cake. Then after a whole hour of torture he finally left, she came back, and he watched her, she looked so beautiful. Then Roland called her over, and he wondered what he wanted.


    He asked for dessert for all of us, when he started to insinuate that she was whore, his blood was boiling. He couldn''t take it anymore, he didn''t know what had gotten into him. Valerian got up and he called the whole deal off.


    "I will take care of the bill." as Colhane also stood up.


    "Okay." as he grabbed Hailey''s hand and dragged her out of there. He got curious stares, but nobody dared to block his way.


    When they got outside he let go of her and he turned to her "who the fuck was that you had dinner with Hailey?"


    "That''s none of your business Sir!" as she looked to the side and she didn''t seem like she intended on answering his question.


    "So, you are going to act like we never had sex?"


    He saw her face look shocked "lower your voice, people will hear us."


    "Now I get a reaction from, why are you being so distant?"


    "I''m not, I''m just your employee."


    "Bullshit Hailey, that''s not what you were saying when you were moaning my name in France was it now?"

    Valerian doesn''t know what comes over him, but he just grabs her, and kisses her with all the pent-up passion that has been built up in him for a long time. He felt her struggle, but he doesn''t let her go, He feels her heart beating against his.


    When he finally lets her go, he receives a slap, and just stares down at her. "You can''t just kiss me when you feel like it, asshole!"


    "Why couldn''t you speak like that back then?"


    "Because he is a customer!"


    "So, you would let him do that to you?"


    "I was handling it just fine before you swooped in Sir."


    He rakes his hands through his hair, "are you dating him?"


    "I told you that it''s none.."


    "I''m not in the fucking mood right now! It''s a yes or no answer, simple as that."


    "Not yet." as she replied.


    "What does that even mean?"


    "He hasn''t asked me out yet Sir." as she says sweetly.


    "So, you are really considering him as an option Hailey?"


    "Yes."


    "Where did you even meet him?"


    "When we went to Maldives."


    Then it all rings a bell. He was the guy she had met there, who was keeping her company. "How did he get hold of you?"


    "I''m not sure, I guess he has his ways, but I did tell him which company I worked for, so I guess through that."


    "So, you wanted him since then?"


    "Nope, back then he was really just my friend even now, but I don''t know where it might lead."


    "Did I do something wrong to you Hailey?"


    "No Sir. Why?"


    "Wow you are so good at acting oblivious."


    "I do learn from the best, don''t I?"


    "You are lucky we are not alone, or else I would have bent you over already."


    She just blinked a couple of times and she didn''t say anything.


    "Should I drop you off at home?"


    "No thanks Matt will do that for me."


    He was about to protest when Colhane came outside, he looked at both of us. "I will wait in the car."


    "Okay." He responded.


    "Bye Hailey, take care of yourself."


    "Bye Colhane." as she waved at him.


    She looked up at him, "is there anything else you would like to say Sir?"


    "This discussion is far from over Hailey." as he walked away.

 Chapter 29

    She returns to the restaurant, "Hailey, come here." She turns to see Matt motioning her over and he gives her a rueful look. "Are you okay?" as he asks. she nods in response.


    "Okay we will talk when we knock off." and he goes into the kitchen without leaving her any room to argue at all.


    When they finish work, she waits for Matt as he locks the doors. He turns around and looks at her waiting for an explanation. she sighs "Matt there is not much I can say, I don''t know what you want to hear from me."


    "I just want to know what goes on in your life Hails, you never tell me anything these days, we used to share everything but now that you started working for Valerian you have somewhat changed."


    "Matt I am bound to change, that is what life is all about you know, I can''t be the same Hailey you knew."


    "Yeah but Hails, you not changing the way I imagined you to change. You now look somewhat secretive, you used to be closed off but not this closed off. You used to let down your guard by me but now I don''t know what happened."


    "Matt somethings are meant to shared, and some are not, you have to understand surely. I''m sure you have secrets of your own."


    "Yeah but my secrets are different from yours Hails, if I told you mine it could risk our friendship."


    "How could it Matt, there is nothing that could ever bring our friendship to an end. I see you as my brother."


    She sees Matt exhale, "I just want the best for you Hails."


    "I know that, and I am doing just fine that much I can swear to you."


    "Fine if you say so."


    "Do you want Ice-cream" as she loops her arm around his.


    "Right now, Hails?"


    "Yes, why not?" He has his thinking face on.


    "Come on Matt we used to do it all the time, for old time sake" as she smiles at him.


    "Fine let''s go, I think Rogers should be still open and we can get some cookie dough." she squeals in excitement.


    "Wow when was the last time I saw you this excited." as he chuckles.


    They get to Rogers and it is still open. she is so excited, she gets scoops of cookie dough, mint and cheesecake and Matt just sticks to cookie dough.


    They sit down, and she notices that is almost two in the morning. She wriggles in her seat and scoops a spoonful of ice cream and shoves it into her mouth.


    "I guess some things never change?"


    "what never what Matt?"


    "I mean your habit of wanting Ice cream at night, and you still have the same look, its as if you are trying all these flavors for the first time."


    She laughs, "really?"


    "Yes really, it feels good to see you smile."


    "Have you watched all of the seasons of Jane the Virgin?"


    "No."


    "You lie Matt but to make it even I did kinda watch all the seasons of Brooklyn nine-nine without you."


    "No Hails that taking it too far."


    "Well if we have to be fair we both did wrong, but I don''t mind re-watching all the episodes with you."


    "They were that good huh?"


    "Yes Matt, so fantastic but I don''t want to tell you any spoilers."


    "Hails if I told you the big spoiler in Jane the Virgin you would hate me."


    "No my spoiler in Brooklyn nine-nine is bigger trust me."


    "Fine, you know what Hails we will watch the shows and then, only then will we decide which one has the biggest spoiler."


    "Yes I agree and loser has to buy dinner and dessert"


    "Well my lady you have a deal by me." she laughs as it felt like the old times all over again when Matt and her used to do this.


    After they finish with the Ice Cream, Matt walks her to the bus station and she gets on the bus and waves at him.


    She starts to ponder as she sits there, what if Matt was right? what if she had changed for the worst and didn''t see it.

 Chapter 30

    She gets home and falls onto her bed in exhaustion. Hailey wakes up the next morning to find that she had overslept.


    She rushed out of bed, and realized she was running thirty minutes late.


    She brushes her teeth, hops onto the shower quickly and dresses up. She dashes to work when she gets there, she tries to even her breath. "Really, the new intern is the one who gets to be late." she sees Clara telling the other receptionist.


    Hailey looks down and carries on walking. She gets relieved that she wasn''t caught. When it is time to leave she doesn''t leave early because she was late.


    She carries on with her work so that she can finish it, "you still here." She looks up and finds Valerian standing by the door.


    "Yes Sir, I was just finishing up my work."


    "Can we talk over dinner when you are done?"


    "Yes, please give me half an hour then I will be done Sir."


    "Okay" he nods.


    She knew that she had to eventually have this talk one way or the other and this day had to come. So why not today?


    Hailey finally finishes up and Valerian''s right on time, she takes her coat and puts it on. They walk outside and find his car parked upfront.


    They get in "where do you want to go Hailey?"


    "Anywhere but Je Taime is good for me, I don''t want to have to deal with Matt too."


    "Okay." as he chuckles.


    They end up at Zest, an Italian restaurant and it is really beautiful they walk in and they are greeted by the manager himself.


    She looks around and starts feeling out of place, Valerian is wearing a suit and he fits the place very well and she on the other doesn''t look all too dressed up nor spectacular.At least she was wearing her work suit, so she looked formal. Then she nods to herself, agreeing with her thoughts.


    "Valerian long time no see." and he had a very heavy Italian accent which she envied a lot.


    "Yes." as Valerian shakes his hand. "and this?" as he turns his attention to her.


    "she is my date." he answers before she could say anything.


    "Welcome mam it is so nice to have you here." as he takes her hand and kisses it. She sees Valerian narrowing his eyes at the gesture, but she just laughs because she sees he means no harm.


    They are led to the table at the back and given a wine list and she doesn''t know what to order as she didn''t know what good wine tasted like.


    "Is it fine if I order for you wine, Hailey?"


    "Yes please." As she is relieved.


    "We will have chardonnay two thousand and five." As he tells the waiter.


    "For both of you Sir?"


    "Yes." as Valerian looks at her to see if she is okay with it.


    She looks down at the menu but when she sees the price, she is flabbergasted. What the hell was this place, she could buy six dressed at a local store and still have change.


    She starts to notice all the prices on this menu, this was too much. As much as she loved food this was just ridiculous.


    "Sorry, please cancel out the wine for me, what is your cheapest drink here?"


    "It''s fine Hailey, I got it."


    "No you don''t, I got myself."


    "How about our cocktails mam."


    She turns the page and the prices don''t have that much of a bigger difference to the wines. She was starting to get a headache.


    "A glass of water for me please,"


    "Please bring two glasses of wine." as Valerian tells the waiter in his commanding voice.


    "Yes Si.r" and the waiter scurries away in a rush.


    "Okay Sir lets talk about the elephant in the room shall we?"

 Chapter 31

    Before he can respond the waiter turns back hastily, "Sorry, do you know what you want to eat?"


    "Is it fine if I order for the both of us?"


    "Yes, that''s fine."


    "We will get two steaks please."


    "How well-done Sir?"


    "Medium-rare for me"


    "And you mam?"


    "Well done please."


    "Is that all?"


    "Yes." as Valerian dismisses the waiter and he leaves to go place our order.


    Before he starts speaking the waiter arrives with our drinks and he places one glass in front of her and then in front of Valerian. "Would you like anything whilst you wait for your meal."


    Valerian looks at me, "no, I''m fine thank you."


    "Then nothing." as he tells the waiter.


    She sees Valerian taking a sip of his wine and he gestures for her to also. She takes a light sip, and puts the glass down.


    "How have you really been Hailey?"


    "I have been good and you Sir?"


    "I''m fine."


    Hailey starts to fidget a bit as she is waiting for him to bring up the issue of what happened previously, but it doesn''t seem like he intends to do so any time soon.


    Valerian keeps on asking questions, bit by bit and she answers them gradually. Then the waiter comes with their food.


    "Enjoy."


    "Thank you." she responds.


    They dig into the meal, and it tastes heavenly, she never had such delicious food unless she was tasting in the kitchen in Je Taime.


    This was divine. She scuffles down her food and Valerian looks at her curiously. "You sure do eat fast Hailey." she just laughs a bit in response.


    "Do you like it?"


    "I love it." as she forks another piece of steak into her mouth.


    "I''m glad then I made the right choice for the both of us."


    She rolls her eyes at him.


    "What Hailey?" as he looks bemused.


    "Oh please you have been here before, so obviously you know what to get and even if that is not the case, you have fined dined a lot."


    "Fair point." as he laughs lightly.


    When they finish their food they order dessert, she just gets a cheesecake and so does Valerian. After dessert is done, the waiter clears our table.


    The bill comes, "how much do I owe?"


    "Nothing Hailey."


    "No, I want to pay for myself!"


    "Stop being stubborn, I have already paid. I gave them my card when I walked in. Here it is just the tip for the waiter."


    "Fine let me at least tip him."


    "Okay." as he surrenders to my request and he gives me.


    After we are done Valerian takes us to his place, she walks in. When was the last time she was here?


    "Sit." as he motions her to the couch, then he sits down next to her. "Hailey, we need to talk about everything from the beginning and where it all went wrong, that''s why I bought us here."


    "I know Sir."


    "Tonight, there are no barriers in between us, it should be just me and you. Okay?"


    "Okay." as she nods in agreement.

 Chapter 32

    "Okay Hailey, I will go first. Who was the guy that you having dinner with? He looks familiar, but I can''t place him."


    "That is my friend Alex, and we met at Maldives."


    Valerian''s eyes become a bit hooded. "So, he is the guy you were talking to the whole night when we were there."


    "Yes."


    "So why is he here?"


    "He came mainly for business but then he said he could spare some time and talk to me."


    "Did you tell him to get a hold of you?"


    "No, I didn''t." as she became a bit defensive at his accusatory tone.


    "Then how did he know how to find you?"


    "I also asked him, and he said he tracked me down because I had told him that I work here."


    "When I saw you guys having dinner, where you on a date?"


    "No we weren''t. We were just catching up just like all friends do."


    "So then why were you feeding each other cake?"


    "I don''t know, it just seemed fun I guess."


    "Fun, fun Hailey! Is that all you can come up with."


    "Well do you want me to lie to you then?"


    "No it''s fine."


    "Are you going to see him again?"


    "Maybe, if he gets in touch before he goes back."


    "I see."


    "Okay your turn." Valerian said.


    "Are you over Charlize?"


    "Yes, I am."


    "Are you sure, because you always go back to her. So, I have heard."


    "That is true, but there is definitely nothing that is going on between her and I anymore."


    "Why?"


    "Because I don''t want her anymore Hailey, I want someone else." as he looks at her directly at her.


    "What was the decisive factor that made you not want her anymore?"


    "I was tired of her long before, but then I met you."


    "So what you are saying is that if you get tired of me, you will also leave me in the same manner as her?"


    "No Hailey that is not what I am saying and I will prove it to you that I am serious."


    "Okay, I''m done." she says, but Valerian is not.


    "So, you and Matt, is there something that went on between you two or that will happen?"


    "No Matt is more my brother than anything else. He has been there for me for the longest time that I can remember so I owe that much to him, and to answer your other question, no nothing has never happened."


    "Okay I see, your turn."


    "I think the Charlize question was about it for me personally. I have nothing more to say."


    "Okay, why did you act as if nothing happened in France?"


    "Because I don''t want people to know that I am in a relationship with the boss."


    "Why not am I that bad?"


    "No, I don''t want people thinking I got the job because of that. I want people to see me as me not some hoe who screwed the boss to get where she is."


    "Fair point."


    "So how do we move on from this Hailey, are we making this happen? Yes or no?"


    "Yes."

 Chapter 33

    "Did I hear you right Hailey?"


    "Yes." she mumbles.


    He stands up and he walks over to her and he pulls me up.


    "Am I in a dream right now or what Hailey?"


    "No."


    "So you are willing to give us a shot?"


    "Yes I am." she responded.


    He picks her up and twirls her around. Then he sets her down and he places a kiss on her forehead, then he embraces her fully.


    He pulls back, "I want to do this right, we need to first go on dates."


    "Okay."


    "Let''s go, it''s late I will drop you off at your house."


    She nods as he led her to his car, he opens the door for her and to get in. He then drives her to his house, when they arrive he does the same thing again and he opens the door for her.


    He gives her a hug, "Go in".


    "Bye." as she waves at him.


    She gets into his apartment and she thinks about all the events that had occurred today. At least Valerian and had sorted out our issues, now it was just a matter of time to see where this was going.


    She wakes up in the morning to find a message from Valerian "morning, beautiful. I hope you slept well last night."


    "Morning, I did sleep well and you ?"


    He replies immediately "I couldn''t sleep much because of how happy I am."


    She rolls her eyes and gets out of bed, so she can get ready for work. After she is done getting ready, she dashes out and they arrive on time. Why did she feel a bit nervous, she walks over to her work place and does her work.


    "Sir wants to see you in his office."


    She looks up to find Clara. "Okay." as she gets up and walks over to his office. she knocks lightly, "come in."


    Hailey walks in timidly and she sees him standing with his hands in his pockets.


    "You wanted to see me Sir?"


    He comes over and he pulls her into his arms, "I just missed you."


    "what? But we are at work Sir and I don''t want to get caught."


    "Don''t worry no-one comes in unless they knock first or if I asked them to come."


    "Oh okay." she giggles.


    "That giggle of yours is so cute Hailey."


    She smiles at him and she returns his embrace. "Can''t we go away just as the two of us?"


    "No Sir that would raise a lot of suspicion and we have a lot of work to do."


    "Fine I guess you are right."


    "Have you eaten." He carries on.


    "Not yet"


    "That''s good I ordered food and it arrived."


    "Sir I can''t be in here for too long."


    "Well you better start eating."


    She rushes over to the table and there is a lot of food, she takes a sandwich, she scuffs it down in a minute. She eats some salad whilst sipping on fruit juice.


    "For someone with a bit of time you sure do make up for it."


    "Thank you, Sir, for the meal." as she straightens up.


    "Come here Hailey."


    She walks to him, he rubs the side of her mouth. "You look perfect now."


    "Thank you." as she smiles at him.


    She walks out his office and when she got back to her work space, Clara is looking at her weirdly, but ignores her stare as she walks back to her workplace.


    When work is done, she packs up and waits outside.


    A car pulls up in front of her, she looks through the windows.


    "Get in." she recognizes the voice, she gets into the car and they drive off.

 Chapter 34

    She turns to Alex, "what brings you here?"


    "Well I wanted to discuss with you something over dinner."


    "Okay, but on one condition."


    "What is that Hailey?"


    "We go to a cheap place please."


    He laughs "sure why not, where do you want to go?"


    "Burger King"


    "Burger king it is then."


    They pull up at burger king and they get out the car, they walk inside and go order. "what do you recommend?" as he looks at her.


    "The whopper is a great choice, get us a space to sit and I will order for the both of us. She walks up to the counter. "Evening, your order?"


    "I would like two whoppers please."


    "Drinks?"


    "One coke, and one fanta orange please"


    She pays with her card and they wait for their order. When it''s done she takes it and finds Alex. "That was very quick."


    "and it''s convenient." as she agrees with him.


    She places the tray down and they dig into the food. "This is quite good."


    "It is, have you never had burger king before?"


    "Not really."


    They finish their meal and Alex turns and looks at her seriously. "Hailey, I wanted to offer you a huge opportunity."


    "What opportunity?"


    "I am expanding my business and I would like it if you were my right hand."


    "You want me to be your business partner?"


    "Yes, I want to go to England to start expanding from there, when you agree we can look at the contract, shares etc."


    "Wow that is really an huge offer but I''m sorry I would have to decline on the spot."


    "Why"


    "Its complicated, I cant move away but thank you for thinking about me."


    "Oh, are you sure you really don''t want to think it through?"


    "No not really" as she gave him a reassuring smile.


    "Does it have to do with the guy you were with in Maldives?"


    "Yes it does." as she answers truthfully.


    "I see."


    "I''m sorry but I hope you find someone who can help you with your venture."


    "thank you, Hailey."


    "It''s my pleasure."


    They talk a bit more about their plans and what has been going on and she realizes that it is late. "Let me drop you off at your place."


    "Okay."


    They drive and when they get to her place she finds Valerian standing by the front door. "Do you want me to get out?"


    "No thanks, its fine but thank you Alex for tonight and travel safely."


    "You too Hailey, until we meet again."


    She gets out his car and waves at him as he drives off.


    She takes out her keys from her bag and she walks up to the front door and Valerian is looking at her furiously.


    "Where have you been?" He asks roughly.


    "I went to have dinner with Alex."


    "Why couldn''t you send me a message to tell me that because I called you plenty times, but you did not answer."


    "Sorry, my phone was on silent." As she puts in the key in the door knob and unlocks the door. She walks in and he follows her, closing the door.

 Chapter 35

    "Why didn''t you at least tell me that you were meeting him?"


    "Do you want tea?"


    "No Hailey I don''t tea, I want answers."


    "He was leaving, and we didn''t plan on having dinner it just happened."


    "Couldn''t you just text me a few lines, then I would have been at ease." As his voice softens a bit. "I know, and I genuinely forgot so can we please just move on. I don''t want to fight."


    "I also don''t want to fight Hailey" as he comes closer. "Tomorrow we are having our first official date."


    "Really, what do you have in mind Sir"


    "A bit of this and that" as he smiles at her ruefully.


    "Now that I have seen that you are okay, I am going to leave." She walks behind him and then she sees him out.


    She felt a bit cold, so she changes into her cozy pajamas and she goes to watch t.v. Hailey always did this on a Thursday night and thank goodness it was Friday tomorrow.


    When she feels drowsy, she turns off the television and she goes to bed. She wakes up the next morning and gets to work a bit early, she wanted to finish her work fast so that she could go home and change then go on the date with Valerian.


    The day is going by so slowly, it feels as if every five minutes turns into out to be a minute. So, she immerses herself more into her work, and tries to focus even harder. When five finally strikes, she was long done with her work and she rushes out.


    She races to the bus station and she takes a bus home, she sends Valerian a text. "Hey, I went home already. I wanted to change."


    Soon he replies "Okay, I will come fetch you in about an hour, because I also need to freshen up a bit."


    "Okay, thanks."


    "Anything for you."


    She puts her phone on the charger and she starts getting dressed. She starts seeing which outfits would work and which one would not. She decided on a red dress.


    Hailey goes to the bathroom and shaves, then she hops into the shower. The water feels good after a long day. She gets out and dries her hair and she put on the dress. Then she puts on her makeup and then she puts on her heels and she has got five minutes to spare.


    Valerian wasn''t one to be late, he was usually here on time or early. She locks up her apartment and she stands outside, she sees his car pulling up.


    He gets out the car. "You look beautiful Hailey." and he hands her a bouquet of red roses. He kisses her on the cheek. "For you."


    "thank you, they match my dress."


    He then led her to the car and he opens the door for her. She thanks him, and he gets in, She looks at him as he walks around the car and he looks dashing in his suit.


    He gets in and the engine comes alive, They drive off and she wonders where they are going. "Where are we going ?"


    "It''s a surprise."


    "Okay." as she smells the roses, they have a beautiful fragrance to them. They drive for at least an hour and the night lights look so extravagant.


    It seems like they are going up a high mountain road. They finally get to the destination and it looks very beautiful.


    She gets out the car and a vale takes the keys. Valerian holds out his arm for her "shall we?"


    She takes it and there is a red carpet. "Welcome to Magnolia, Madame and Sir."


    Wow it was beautiful.


    "I booked for the outside suite."


    "Valerian?"


    "Yes."


    "Sorry Sir," this way as he leads them up the stairs, and they get to the outside. She had never seen such a view in her entire life. This was not real. She had to be dreaming, it was too spectacular, and they were the only ones outside.


    Valerian pulls out her chair and she sits down then he tucks it in for her.


    Then he sits down, "I already ordered beforehand, so you don''t have to worry about it."


    "Great." She was relieved, she didn''t want to order something that she didn''t like.


    She hears a click and turns around and then she hears more. She sees Valerian taking pictures of her. She laughs, "stop."


    "Never."He reaches out and touches her hand, "I want to stay in this moment forever with you."

 Chapter 36

    She smiles at him, as he kisses her hand. The waiter comes with champagne and he pours it for the both of them.


    "Thank you." as he fills their glasses.


    "So, Hailey, what is your favorite color?"


    "Well it isn''t considered a color, but black and you?"


    "Blue."


    "Your favourite dish?"


    "I like pizza and you?" He clears his throat "I would have to say any pasta cuisine."


    "My turn, how many girls have you slept with?"


    Valerian looks puzzled by her question, "Why?"


    "I''m just curious." as she bats her eye lashes. "If you find out the number then what are you going to do with it?"


    "Nothing, why are you avoiding the question?"


    "Fine, I would say three."


    "Three, how is that possible. I thought you would say you lost count."


    Valerian lets out a laugh which is something she rarely saw. "Hailey, I do have many women who pursue me but doesn''t mean I sleep with them you know. Only if it is serious then yes, I do."


    "And you Hailey?" and she sees he is mocking her.


    "I might have one for now, but it will accumulate, don''t worry."


    "Don''t you dare Hailey." as he gives her a stern look.


    They eat their food talking about general things about themselves. A sweet song comes on "would you like to dance with me?"


    "I would love to." as she takes his hand and they start moving slowly to the music. She feels content, he twirls her around. He dips her and picks her up.


    His body odor is so intoxicating, and she pulls herself closer to him. They dance the night away, at one in the morning, they decide to head back, Valerian takes off his blazer and he drapes it around her.


    "Thank you."


    "You welcome."


    As they head down, she feels drowsy and she falls asleep. She wakes up when Valerian strokes her hair. "we are here."


    She rubs her eyes and she feels exhausted. Valerian walks out, and he opens the door for her. She climbs out, and she takes her roses.


    They got to their front door and she unlocks it. He turns her to him, "I had a great night Hailey."


    "Me, too. Thank you for everything. It was truly magical for me." as she shyly smiles at him.


    He pulls her into his arms and he places a gentle kiss on her lips first and then he starts to deepen it until he pulls back.


    "I want to go home Hailey." as he grins down at her.


    "Huh?" as she is left in a daze.


    "This is our first date, remember. Nothing else but that."


    He places a kiss once more on her lips and she melts into him, but he pulls away.


    "Get in, so that I can leave."


    She nods and before she goes in she places a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you again for everything." He smiles down at her. "You welcome."


    She walks into the apartment and she finds a vase, the she adds water then the roses.

 Chapter 37

    She lays on the bed and she thinks about the night. She takes her phone and texts him. "Did you get home safely?"


    "I did thank you."


    "Night, sweet dreams Sir. Xxx"


    "Night, my angel."


    With that she falls asleep. She wakes up the next morning with a lot of sweat and nose is blocked. She feels drained and tired.


    There is so much light streaming in. She walks over to the cabinet and takes a bit of painkillers, but her head is killing her. She shuffles her way back into bed, and falls asleep, She wakes up when she hears a knock by the door.


    She sees it is dark out, wow how long was she asleep for?


    Hailey walks towards the door and opens it, She sees Valerian standing there. He immediately walks in. "You don''t look so good Hailey."


    She sniffles a bit. He picks her up bridal style and he walks back to her room and he places her gently on the bed.


    "I will be back." With that he leaves, and she falls asleep again. She wakes up when she hears Valerian calling her, "Come sit up and eat something."


    She sits up and sees that he bought chicken soup. He scoops some and he holds it to her mouth and she eats some.


    "Why didn''t you tell me you were ill, I would have been here much sooner."


    "I fell asleep for the whole day." as her voice comes out groggy.


    "I see."


    He gives her some medication to drink and then he lays her back down, she already felt so much better.


    "Where is your laptop? I bought movies too."


    "under the bed."


    He feels for it and finds it. "that''s a peculiar place to put a laptop."


    "I don''t want it to get stolen."


    He switches it on and puts a disk inside. "move over."


    She moves a bit and he takes off his shoes and tie, he gets into the bed next to her. "aren''t you afraid of being sick?"


    "Not quite."


    He puts his arm around her and she uses his shoulder as a pillow, but the medication is also making her feel a bit too drowsy.


    Haikey wakes up when the sun is streaming in. "You finally woke up."


    "How long have you been awake for?"


    "For two hours but I didn''t want to disturb you, so I let you sleep."


    "Thank you" as she smiles at him.


    "I better get going, I want to go freshen up and change."


    "Okay." as she walks him to the door.


    "You seem a lot better, I will see you later then."


    "Bye." as she waves him off. She definitely did feel a whole lot better and she had enough energy to clean up and tidy the place. Then she bathed for a long time because yesterday she couldn''t manage to bath herself.


    After that, she realizes she doesn''t have groceries. She hears the door bell ring and she opens it. "You back." as she smiles at him.


    "Yes, I have been gone for three hours you know."


    "I need to buy groceries."


    "No problem, we can do it online."


    True, why hadn''t I thought of that. They order the groceries and they arrive. They put them away and she makes a mental note that she owes him.


    She starts to prepare dinner, "Do you need help?"


    "No, but you can set the table and get the wine."


    After she finishes cooking, She set it on the table and they eat.


    "This is not bad for our second date." as he sips some wine.


    "No, it isn''t."


    When night-time comes, "Its time for you to go."


    "Why?"


    "We have work and I am not the boss unlike others."


    "I could give you a day off you know."


    "No, get out Sir!" as she points to the door.


    "Fine, fine." as he leaves.

 Chapter 38

    Hailey wakes up the next morning and she gets ready for work. She felt really well and her fever was gone. She got to work and started working.


    She didn''t see Valerian the whole day until she checked her phone and saw a message from him. "I''m not coming in today, I got your fever." Hailey can''t help but laugh a bit


    "I will come after work to nurse you."


    "Well then I look forward to it." she smiles at his response and throws her phone to the side. She carried on with her work until it is time to go home. She goes to a place where they serve chicken soup and she gets two portions to go.


    She gets to his house, and she rings the bell. "Come in."


    She walks in and finds Valerian sitting by the couch with a blanket around him. He really does look awful, she takes out the chicken soup. "Yum, I''m hungry."


    She laughs at how super husky his voice sounds, he really sounds extra hot. "What?"


    "Nothing." as she keeps it to herself. "That''s not fair Hailey, I deserve to know."


    "Fine, your voice sounds extra hot."


    He chuckles, "do you want to come here?"


    "No, I don''t want to get it again, then it''s an endless cycle of fever."


    "You have a point there."


    After they eat she clears the dishes and sits by the couch. She sees that he is drowsy from the medication. She goes up to him, "let me take you to bed."


    "I would love that." as he gives her a devilish grin. "wow, you sick."


    He just laughs, she helps him up and he gets into his bed, she makes sure he is fully tucked in. "Night." as as she blows him a kiss which he catches.


    She got back to her apartment and she slept.


    The next day she gets to work, and the day goes by slowly, she keeps on wondering if Valerian is okay?


    Hailey looks at the clock and there is an half hour before they knock off. "Hailey, they are looking for you in the front office." as Maggie tells her.


    She gets up and walks to the front office and she finds Charlize.


    "You bitch!" as she yells at her.


    She sees everyone starting to gather around wondering what this is about.


    "Hailey I will ruin you, you think that just because you had sex with Valerian means that you mean anything to him?"


    She just stares at her is shock and she wants to run into a hole and hide.


    "You are just a slut, who sold herself to get the position she has."


    "No I didn''t, so you know I graduated at Harvard."


    "Yeah, yeah. It doesn''t change the fact that you are screwing your boss to get extra privileges, you think I don''t know what happened in Paris and all the dates you have been going to."


    She looks around and sees people staring at her. Was this really happening to her?


    "You know what Hailey, I was the one who thrashed your apartment and mark my words I can do more than that."


    "So, you are the one who sent someone?"


    She laughs sarcastically "of course sweet heart it was me, you can''t win against me."


    Hailey laughs lightly, "I already won, Charlize."


    "What did you say?"


    "You heard me, you are so pathetic that you are being threatened by a nineteen year old. If I was just a hoe to him then there would be nothing for you to worry about."


    Charlize walks up to her and she tries to slap her, but she blocks her hand.


    "Let go of me you bitch!"


    Hailey lets her go. She goes to her workplace and she packs up and leaves the office.

 Chapter 39

    She gets to her apartment and she gets in and sinks to the floor, Hailey couldn''t believe this had just happened to her. Why did Charlize have to do that?


    She climbed into her bed and switched off her phone, she wasn''t in a mood to talk to anyone at all.


    The next morning, she woke up and got ready for work, she stands in the front of the office and takes a deep breath and she walks in. She can hear people whispering under their breaths "I told you there was no way she got in on her own."


    She shut them out and she goes to her work place. Clara and Maggie walk in and they sit across her, "So that''s why you go to go on all those trips with the boss right?"


    She doesn''t say anything, and she just ignores them. She checks the time and sees its lunch time. She gets up and walks outside.


    She sits by the park bench and eats her food. After lunch she got back to that dreaded place and when she got into her workplace it was thrashed and on one of her files it was written "Bosses Whore, Slut, Prostitute."


    Tears threaten to form but she sucks them in. She takes a deep breath and carries on with her work.


    She keeps on seeing people coming in and calling her all kinds of names. She checks her phone and she sees a lot of missed calls from Valerian.


    She texts him, "I will see you later, after my watering job Xxx"


    "Okay, can''t wait to see you."


    After work, she changed into her waitress outfit which smells of dead fish, and she realizes someone put a dead fish in her bag.


    She gets to Je Taime. "Hails, I missed you." as Matt embraces her and now the tears are threatening more than ever.


    He pulls back, and he studies her face. "Are you okay?"


    "In all honesty, no."


    "What''s wrong?"


    "Work." as she walks past him.


    "Is that why you smell rotten?"


    She gives him that look, he laughs. "At least you smell like food you know."


    After work she goes over to Valerian''s house, she rings the door bell and he answers it. "You look tired Hailey." as he embraces her.


    "And you look better." as she smile at him. She tiptoes, and gives him a kiss, which he responds to. "I guess I should be sick more often."


    She laughs as she nudges him. She gets in and sits next to him by the couch, "How was your day?"


    "It was long and yours?"


    "Nothing special, just recovering and missing you, Hailey."


    "I missed you too." As she embraces him.


    "Why didn''t you pick up my calls yesterday?"


    "Sorry it was so hectic, and I was super exhausted."


    "Did something happen?"


    "No." as she reassured him.


    They sit and talk for a while. "Its late I better get going."


    "It was nice seeing you, I really missed you."


    He walks me out and he kisses me, and she return his kiss.


    "Goodnight Sir," as she salutes him.


    "Night Hailey." He grins at her.

 Chapter 40-End

    Valerian wakes up and he knows that he has to go to work today, and he was going to surprise Hailey. He knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So, he was going to tell her that he loved her. He also wanted to propose.


    She felt a bit nervous, and he had measured her ring size when she was sick. He got dressed and he got to work and he senses a weird atmosphere.


    He is greeted as per usual, he wanted to pass by Hailey''s work station, but he thought better of it. He would see her later on in the afternoon.


    The whole day is dragging and finally it is time to go home. He get books from Clara, and he quickly scans through them. He also see Hailey''s work and he looks though it when a letter falls off.


    He opens it.


    "My Dear Valerian:


    I hope you receive this letter, Things have not been going easily for me. Please don''t blame yourself because I thought about it long and hard last night. I had a wonderful time with you and I hope everything goes well for you. I do not belong here and everything that I feared finally happened. Please do forget me. By this time, I will be long gone, I left my resignation letter with Matt, he will give it to you. Please do not look for me, because I do not want to be found.


    Bye and have a happy life.


    Yours Hailey."


    He crumples the letter in his hand.


    Valerian drives to Matt, and finds him waiting outside. "Where is Hailey?"


    "I also don''t know, I wanted to ask you that very question, she just left me two letters, and one is her resignation letter for you."


    "You have no idea where she could have gone?"


    "No Valerian, I don''t! The last time I saw her was last night and she said she had a hard day at work. Care to explain?"


    "I wasn''t at work!"


    Valerian takes out his phone and dials Clara, she answers immediately "Evening Sir."

    She blinks back tears "are you forgetting what we had, a whole three years you are willing to throw away for that tramp!"


    "Don''t fucken call her that Charlize, I love her and its time you moved on!"


    She looks broken at his words. He walks away, and gets into his car, he tries to dial Hailey''s number but to no avail. Valerian then drives to her apartment. Its locked but he manages to break down the door and it is empty inside. He see the flowers he gave her withered, there is a small letter next to them
