《The Arrogant Queen of Prophecy》 Chapter 1 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°Quan Jin!¡± ¡°You¡¯re such an evil woman. You really just want Nuannuan dead, huh?!¡± A cold, icy male voice pierced through the hall of the five-star hotel, sending shivers down the spine of the attendees of the engagement party. The man glared at the lady with scorn. She was not even five foot three and looked slightly chubby from the bloat in her face, her skin sallow and yellowish. A doctor could have probably told that Quan Jin¡¯s health wasn¡¯t the best, seemingly having been on medication that would disrupt her neurology and development for a long time. ¡°You knew she had a weak heart, and yet you told her about our engagement today?¡± Mo Qingtian stared coldly at the girl in front of him as she remained silent. ¡°Did you really think that if anything were to happen to Nuannuan, you, as a godchild of the An¡¯s, would replace her and become part of the family? I suggest you have a good look at yourself in the mirror! You are short, ugly, lowly, and there¡¯s just nothing good about you. If your heart hadn¡¯t matched Nuannuan¡¯s, did you think I would have ever agreed to your engagement? And I¡¯ll have you know that this face of yours disgusts me to the core!¡± Mo Qingtian puffed as he watched Quan Jin try to hold back her displeasure. The berated girl happened to be the host of the party. Quan Jin was the only daughter of the Quan¡¯s, the wealthiest family in Jiang. A genius in both business and medicine, she was one of the prized scholars of Hua and was regarded as the single greatest hope of entering governmental agencies and securing the country¡¯s position in the world. However, only seven years before, Quan Jin had suddenly rejected the invitation of the country, and stopped appearing at public events and elite gatherings; her name had been kept secret ever since. While back then she had been known in Jiang as the Princess of the Quan family, she had now become a social-climber in the eyes of these people. The voice continued playing in her ear. ¡°For everything you have done to Nuannuan, I will get back at you a hundred times worse. Aren¡¯t you trying to become an elite as well? I will ruin your reputation and you shall be imprisoned for the rest of your life! This loathsome engagement is cancelled! You. are. not. fit¡ª¡± The emcee who had accompanied Mo Qingtian to the event rushed up onto the stage in shock as soon as their eyes met. ¡°Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize,¡± he announced, turning on the mic and looking at Quan Jin, who was bewildered, ¡°I hereby announce that the Mo¡¯s has single-handedly called off the engagement. With regard to Miss Quan Jin and her alleged murder of Miss An Yunnuan, President Mo has already demanded that the police conduct further investigation.¡± President Mo had even contacted the police¡ Quan Jin was barely eighteen years old. Her future would be ruined! The attendees stared at her as if she had suddenly grown a third eye, gloating. A few members sneered. ¡°Luckily President Mo saw through her pretense.¡± ¡°Poor Miss An. She had so kind-heartedly helped a peasant, and not only was she ungrateful, she even tried to steal Miss An¡¯s identity and forced President Mo into this marriage only because she was the only one able to save her!¡± ¡°I guess birds of a feather should flock together. A lowlife like her could only dream of entering the Mo family.¡± The insults reached Quan Jin¡¯s ear. Damned peasants¡ The girl, who had remained silent all along, lifted her head and glared at Mo Qingtian. Her eyes were no longer overflowing with admiration; instead, they were filled with arrogance, a tinge of disdain, and conceit. The Quan Jin that had existed ten minutes before had promised to save An Yunnuan with her heart, so that she could marry Mo Qingtian. However, she was no longer the same Quan Jin she had once been. The real Quan Jin had just died. ¡°I don¡¯t give a damn if she dies. I will say this once and for all: I am the only heir of the Quan family, I don¡¯t care for the meager title of Mrs Mo!¡± The hall instantly fell into a dead silence. What did she just say? Who was the heir of the Quan family? She had only been ten years old upon leading her family to wealth¡ªthe only person to be inducted into the government, a genius and a well-respected princess among the upper class! How could that lowly, greedy, and materialistic girl be such a person? Everyone was appalled by Quan Jin¡¯s words. Nervous laughter broke the silence. ¡°Wh-what did you say?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t think that just because the Quan¡¯s haven¡¯t announced their heir, any other person could be an imposter! Take a look at yourself! So desperate to enter the Mo family that you have gone nuts!¡± ¡°How dare you tarnish the name of the Princess of the Quan¡¯s¡ª¡± They don¡¯t believe it! None of the attendees knew who Quan Jin was or what the heir of the Quan¡¯s looked like. They didn¡¯t even know her name! The only two people who knew all the truth about Quan Jin¡¯s identity remained seated and unbothered, watching the injustice unfold. Mo Qingtian stared closely at the girl as she stood tall. Something seemed¡. different. ¡°Did you think I would like you if you claimed to be the heir of the Quan¡¯s?¡± Noticing the shift in Quan Jin¡¯s glance, Mo Qingtian looked away with repugnance, ¡°Materialistic social-climber, you disgust me!¡± Tsk! Quan Jin had too much on her plate to waste time explaining herself to that bunch of fools. She turned to face two middle-aged men seated in the corner, shocking everyone with a seemingly insignificant remark. None of the most impressive big shots could compare to the charisma that Quan Jin exuded. ¡°Master Su, Master Lin. Has the Quan family ever kicked me out?¡± she asked, raising an eyebrow. Many heads turned to face the two men. They stood up uneasily, and let out a hollow laugh, ¡°You must be joking, Miss Quan. Master Quan treasures Miss Quan Jin very much! Who would have dared kick out the appointed heir of the Quan family?¡± Chapter 2 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Miss Quan Jin¡ the appointed heir! The only two men who had been to Quan¡¯s house had admitted it. The girl standing on the stage was the Princess of the Quan¡¯s¡ªthe reason the family had been able to go from being middle class to becoming part of the elite? Huh! The same people who had been prepared to ridicule her were rendered speechless by the words of the two men. ¡°How is that possible?¡± ¡°She actually is! She is the Princess of the Quan¡¯s¡¡± Wasn¡¯t the rumored Princess Quan supposed to be shockingly beautiful? How¡ Mo Qingtian was probably the most appalled. Disdain lingered in his expression as he stared at Quan Jin in disbelief, ¡°Aren¡¯t you the godchild of the An¡¯s?! Why have you never told me about this? Did you think you could use your position as the only heir of the Quan family to clear your name and reverse the cancellation of the engagement? I won¡¯t ever look at you again!¡± Quan Jin was silent. Fools. The attendees changed their attitude toward Quan Jin almost instantly. Those who had just insulted Quan Jin were now shocked, pale, and horrified. That was the Quan¡¯s¡ªthe family they wished to have close ties with by befriending Miss Quan. Instead, they had deeply offended her. ¡°Miss Quan, we have misunderstood, we apologize¡ª¡± ¡°We ask for your forgiveness¡¡± Then, as the crowd continued to apologize to Quan Jin¡ª Bang! The doors of the hotel burst open. The vice-captain of the law enforcement team, along with his armed men, hurried over, their vision scanning the surroundings, and finally landing on Mo Qingtian, who still seemed out of it, ¡°Sir Mo, sorry to bother you. We have just received a tip-off that a criminal suspect charged with alleged murder and intimidation is in proximity. Who is Quan Jin?¡± All eyes fell upon the girl on stage. ¡°Please come with us¡± In the intense atmosphere, everyone¡¯s looks shifted to Mo Qingtian. Not a single word was uttered. The vice-captain watched the reaction unfold before his eyes. As expected, he stared at the girl on stage, ¡°So, are you Quan Jin?¡± Quan Jin glanced at the officer and his team. A deafening, arrogant voice yelled back at the officer, ¡°Are you asking for the Quan Jin who killed An Yunnuan, or the only heir of the Quan family?¡± Did she mean she was the heir of the Quan family? Indeed. The rumors coming from the capital were right: this person, thought to be a peasant that was trying to climb the ranks through the An family, was in fact the true Princess of Jiang. ¡°My apologies, Miss Quan Jin, we are just doing as we are told. We just have a small problem that requires Miss Quan to head over to the police department for clarification,¡± the officer explained meekly. He couldn¡¯t afford to mess with the Quan family anyway. ¡°Let¡¯s go, none of you have the guts to kill me anyway. Just a little reminder¡¡± The officer¡¯s lips twitched. ¡°Please go on, Miss Quan.¡± ¡°You can¡¯t handle me.¡± Quan Jin came to stand right in front of the officer. She scanned the crowd with her eyes, finally setting them on Mo Qingtian. ¡°Remember, you never cancelled this marriage, I did,¡± she reminded him, with a conceited tone, punctuating every word, ¡°You. are. not. on. my. level.¡± The lowly Quan Jin, who had been so obsessed with him in the past, had suddenly become the princess of the Quan¡¯s and even dared to look down on him. Mo Qingtian lashed out¡ªhis pride and ego provoked, ¡°You really think that the Quan¡¯s are still comparable to the Mo family? Without the protection of the country, you would have been nothing, Quan Jin! I refuse to believe that you are the only person with a heart that matches Nuannuan¡¯s! In three days, I will have the Quan family completely evicted from Jiang!¡± Quan Jin stopped short. That was a first! Quan Jin had never been on the receiving end of such threats. Ever. She would have been nothing? Did he really think that the current Quan Jin was still the same girl as before? She could destroy the whole of Jiang with her words alone, let alone the Mo family. ¡°Evicting me from Jiang? You have such faith in yourself, President Mo!¡± ¡°You¡¯re suddenly afraid? Too late!¡± Mo Qingtian retorted, smugly. Quan Jin lifted her head to meet the arrogance of Mo Qingtian with an equally conceited expression, though a sense of foreboding lingered in her eyes. She huffed, uninterested, and turned away. She spat, ¡°Afraid? Maybe a little afraid that you Mo¡¯s can¡¯t handle the consequences of offending me! Prophecy: Mo Corporation seized in three seconds!¡± She left without looking back. Chapter 3 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio For a second, dead silence filled the hotel lounge. Two seconds. Three seconds. It was time. Ring! The sound of Mo Qingtian¡¯s phone blasted from his pocket before he or any of the other guests could even begin mocking such unrealistic words. Had the call been made? Everyone had clearly heard Quan Jin as she arrogantly ensured President Mo, directly to his face, that the Mo Corporation was going to be seized and closed down within three seconds. Facing so many judgmental looks, Mo Qingtian narrowed his icy cold eyes and immediately took out his phone. He looked slightly relieved as he saw the name of the caller on the screen. His finger swiped across it and he picked up, hitting the speakers button. He started, ¡°Within three days, I want the Quan¡¯s to be delisted entirely from Jiang¡ª¡± But before he could even finish¡ ¡°President Mo! President Mo! Something went wrong! Someone showed up from the government, said we are suspected of tax evasion. I don¡¯t know who could have gotten a hold of our black market trades, and reported it to the government¡ª¡± Mo Qingtian fell silent. ¡°President Mo! What shall we do? The government has just released an order for all businesses under the Mo Enterprises to be seized¡ª¡± Seized?! Thump! Suddenly, before the caller could even finish the sentence, Mo Qingtian¡¯s phone hit the floor with a loud thud. It was on speaker mode, and the caller had been speaking loudly enough to allow all the guests in the hotel lounge to clearly hear their conversation. Mo Qingtian looked like he was about to pass out. He was stunned. Mo Corporation had been closed down? Just because of Quan Jin¡¯s words, the entire enterprise had been shut down? What else was she hiding? In the space of three seconds, she had destroyed all the ties that the Mo¡¯s had maintained for years and one had noticed! At the VIP section of the hotel lounge, a paramount old man suddenly stood up, staring intensely in the direction of the door that Quan Jin had just walked out of. He opened his mouth slightly, eyes filled with fears. The entire Mo Corporation was closed down because of a few words. It was the power of the prophecy, capable of burning the entire world to ashes even at its prime. But a prophecy had to start with the words ¡°The God says¡±¡ª She was back! She had to be back. The old man¡¯s fingers trembled in agitation, deep emotions stirring in his usually stern and calm eyes. ¡°It was you. Wasn¡¯t that you? I should have known¡ I should have known that you would be back.¡± Chapter 4 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The vice-captain and his teammates didn¡¯t know what Quan Jin¡¯s words had meant for the Mo Corporation after they had left the hotel. Without following any interrogation procedures, they led Quan Jin to a dim and humid underground prison. ¡°Miss Quan Jin, this is it. Please go in,¡± the vice-captain said. Quan Jin glanced around, spotting a few of his teammates getting ready to pull out their guns when she lifted her head. What had she done wrong? Everyone wanted her dead! ¡°Do you really want to kill me?¡± Quan Jin looked fearless. Click-clack. Guns were loaded. Quan Jin fell silent. The vice-captain raised his gun, pointing it to her forehead. ¡°Miss Quan, you have indeed proved to be one of the country¡¯s outstanding talents. You are marvellous. It is a shame that you have passed your prime.¡± It was not surprising that the vice-captain was bold enough to attempt murdering Quan Jin. Afterall, she was no longer under the protection of the country. ¡°You should blame yourself for offending people that you cannot afford to offend.¡± ¡°I know that I am great and I do not need your reminder.¡± A heavy silence filled the air. That was not the point. ¡°But before you take any actions, don¡¯t you want to know who I am?¡± Despite being in the crosshairs of many guns, Quan Jin did not look nearly as scared as the vice-captain would have thought. Instead, she looked like she was trying to give them a chance to survive. Who was she? She was just the main heir of the Quan¡¯s in Jiang. Compared to the personalities in the capital, Quan Jin¡¯s title was not even worth mentioning¡ The vice-captain held his handgun tightly, explained to Quan Jin as he loaded it, ¡°Miss Quan, to be frank with you, the person who wants you dead is able to destroy the Quan¡¯s without lifting his fingers. Do not hate me for doing this. You should resent the one who ordered me.¡± Bullets dashed out, aiming at Quan Jin¡¯s forehead, between her eyebrows, her heart, and her neck¡ªthe vital points. They closed their eyes as they fired. They would be lying if they had said they were not terrified. If the Quan¡¯s family were to find out that they had murdered the precious heir¡ they could already picture their retaliation. They held onto their handguns, terrified¡ªbut nothing happened. Did they just fire without any bullets? The vice-captain and his teammates lifted their heads¡ªthey were confused and shocked as they saw the scene in front of them. The six deadly bullets were caught in between Quan Jin¡¯s bare fingers, glaring intensely in the gloomy underground prison. Chapter 5 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°Y¡ªyou, you¡ª¡± the vice-captain stuttered, as he stared at the six bullets caught between Quan Jin¡¯s fingers, in shock. Could you believe it? A regular person could catch bullets barehanded! If they had not known about Quan Jin¡¯s identity, they would have thought to be facing a wizard. The vice-captain¡¯s legs gave out, and his men dropped their guns. They had never seen anything so terrifying in their lives. Still dumbfounded, the vice-captain muttered, ¡°No one can¡¯t do that! What on earth are you¡ª¡± Quan Jin stood under the little light of the prison, a tinge of evil in her smile as her expression remained all but threatening¡ªwhich only made the vice-captain even more afraid of her. In her eyes, their lives were nothing more than dying grass. Clink! The six bullets fell to the ground, one after the other, as Quan Jin loosened her hold. ¡°Look at you, all stunned. I just caught some bullets.¡± The vice-captain¡¯s team began trembling uncontrollably. Quan Jin laughed, as she reached out her hand to pat the face of the vice-captain, ¡°Who is it, in the capital? How impressive that they could crush the Quan family with a finger!¡± The man¡¯s heart stopped¡ªnothing could describe the amount of fear he felt. He instinctively wanted to lie, but the chills running down his face had him going against the idea. Instead, he swallowed and replied, ¡°M¡ªMiss Quan, please have mercy on me, I was just following¡ªfollowing the orders from the headquarters in the capital¡ªI really¡ªreally don¡¯t know anything else¡¡± ¡°But surely one must be of a certain calibre to have such close ties to the headquarters. That¡¯s all I know.¡± As the vice-captain trembled violently, it seemed to Quan Jin that he was not lying. She would not put him in a difficult situation. Pulling her hand away from his face, she turned and walked into the prison cell, not forgetting to also lock it up. The vice-captain and his team remained still. They had witnessed prisoners escape, but seeing someone lock themselves up¡ªthat was a first! They could not win a fight against her, what should they do? Just as they tried to help each other up onto their feet, ready to leave the prison, the vice-captain glanced toward Quan Jin, who was sitting on the bed in the cell. In her hand was a black coloured cellphone. He paused, hurriedly checking his pockets. That was bad. Why was his cellphone in the hand of that witch? He watched as Quan Jin dialed. ¡°Is it done?¡± a middle-aged male voice blasted from the other side, ¡°Remember to clean it up. I will deal with the Quan¡¯s of Jiang myself¡± The vice-captain and his men stood, dumbfounded: it was the voice of a higher-up at the headquarters. ¡°Hello? Say something! You haven¡¯t messed up, have you?!¡± Noticing the impatience and frustration in the man¡¯s voice and Quan Jin¡¯s sinister smile, the vice-captain lost his mind. It was over. This time it really was. Six pairs of eyes stared at Quan Jin¡¯s lips and broke into cold sweat, clamping their fingers tightly, almost as if waiting for a death sentence. ¡°What on earth are you doing? I order you to speak! Is Quan Jin dead or not?!¡± Quan Jin held the phone to her lips, ¡°Who is dead?¡± Turning the speaker on, she silenced the other end of the phone, smugly. ¡°I¡¯m sorry to disappoint. I¡¯m healthier than a bull!¡± Chapter 6 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Still alive? Did that mean that the person who just called was¡ ¡°Are¡ are you Quan Jin?¡± the caller asked calmly, hiding his shock. Quan Jin did not give the headquarters¡¯s senior officer a direct response. Instead, she changed her sitting position, speaking in her usual commanding tone, ¡°What a fool! I will give you half an hour to present the medication possession permit to me.¡± That¡ That familiar voice¡ Suddenly, a frightening name appeared in the man¡¯s mind. Almost immediately, he rejected the ridiculous thought. He sneered at Quan Jin¡¯s demand, ¡°Ha! The medication possession permit? Quan Jin! You come from the insignificant Quan¡¯s. Even if you belonged to one of those powerful families in the capital, you would never have the audacity to demand for the permit in such a way!¡± He turned to someone else, adding ¡°Hey! Notify those in Jiang, tell them to find¡¡± The vice-captain simply stood, stiff and still, blood drained from his face. What exactly did Quan Jin want to do? She had even dared demand for the medication possession permit¡ Was she insane? Hearing the senior officer ask for her location, he most likely wanted her dead by all means. Yet, Quan Jin never thought of escaping at all. Instead, she gave an unexpected response, ¡°Save the trouble! I am locked up right here in the top security prison of Jiang by the vice-captain of the law enforcement department!¡± Suddenly, the other side of the phone went completely silent. Locked up? Where did she get the phone to make the call, then? Had that loser of the vice-captain been too afraid to take action? Damn it! The silence lingered. ¡°Order our team in Jiang to kill Quan Jin immediately! Tell them not to worry about the Quan¡¯s. I will bear all the consequences.¡± The senior officer shouted, the phone call still connected ¨C he wanted to make sure that Quan Jin could hear every word. ¡°Oh, you will bear all the consequences?¡± Quan Jin asked. With such emphasis in her words, the vice-captain went weak at the knees. From the other side of the phone came a disgusted grunt. Seemingly disinterested in their conversation, the caller was just about to hang up. Suddenly, with a faint tone to her voice, Quan Jin appeared to be smiling, dismissive and lofty, ¡°How dare you talk to me like this? You must have forgotten something.¡± The vice-captain could not understand what Quan Jin meant. However, the senior officer fell quiet upon hearing her words. Thump! The senior officer¡¯s phone hit the floor. ¡°Prepare the car! Wait, no! Prepare the helicopter and get the medication possession permit! We are leaving for Jiang right now! You¡¯ve got three minutes! Do it or leave!¡± Chapter 7 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Wh¨CWhat? Only a second before he had ordered the death of Quan Jin. The next second, it was as if the senior officer had heard some startling information; even through the phone, the vice-captain could feel the fear in the officer¡¯s voice. Who was Quan Jin exactly? Could have she been more than just the heir of the Quan¡¯s? Catching bullets in the air¡ and that dismissive arrogance! Thump! Quan Jin tossed the phone at the feet of the trembling vice-captain. ¡°Here, tell me, did you see or hear anything just now?¡± she asked, authoritative and commanding. The vice-captain and his teammates shook their heads violently and hurriedly crouched in a corner. Quan Jin glanced at them. Sitting on a bed board in the prison cell, twirling the red thread on her right wrist around her left index finger, four white spots that were invisible to the regular human eye appeared on the thread. She couldn¡¯t remember how long it had been since she had last fallen asleep in this body. The four spots on the red thread represented each life she had left to live. Three hours before there had been five spots¡ suddenly, there were only four. She only had four days left to live. Four days! Damn! Quan Jin felt like murdering someone: the prophecy of Mo Corporation¡¯s shutdown had taken away one of the lives she had left. There goes another day. ¡°Captain, wh¡what do we do now?¡± ¡°Is the Capital really sending their people over?¡± ¡°Isn¡¯t she the heir of the Quan¡¯s? Why would they come down personally?¡± Listening to the teammate¡¯s excessive questioning, the vice-captain¡¯s anger mounted and he retorted, ¡°Shut up, how would I know!¡± Suddenly, the sound of a whirring helicopter landing came from outside the prison. Then¡ Bang! The doors to the prison burst open, and a man around the age of forty appeared. As he stared more closely at the man¡¯s cold exterior, the pupils of the vice-captain shrank and his jaw almost dropped from the sheer shock. It was the vice-chairman of the Capital¡¯s Headquarters. He was really there. ¡°S..Sir¡ Why have you personally¨C¡± the vice-captain rushed to welcome him, wiping away the cold sweat on his forehead before the vice-chairman could begin to talk.. The official offered him a piercing glare and rushed into the prison, along with a team of men in black, while pulling out his gun. Bang! The lock to the cell was shot open. Under the fearful watch of the vice-captain, the mighty vice-chairman walked up to Quan Jin¡¯s side, standing upright, his legs tightly close. Then¡ ¡ he bowed down, unexpectedly, toward the young girl who was not older than eighteen years. ¡°All right, all right. Please, stand up. Where is my permit?¡± Hearing her disinterested tone, the official slowly raised his head. A pair of eyes stared closely at Quan Jin as she kept her legs crossed, arms pillowing the back of her head, looking at them with indifference. ¡°¡. Is¨Cis that you?¡± The senior officer was visibly agitated, overjoyed, in awe, and fearful. He muttered, ¡°you, you are finally back¨C¡± Chapter 8 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The senior officer realized his mistake after unleashing those words. He promptly backpedaled, ¡°Miss¡ Miss Quan, here are the medication possession permits for both the Capital and Jiang. These do not have an expiry date. Is there anything else that I can do for you, Miss Quan?¡± Quan Jin was busy patting off the dust on her clothes. She looked extremely dashing, even with such simple movements. Taking the green permits, Quan Jin replied in an overbearing tone, ¡°What do you think you can offer? I wonder who in the Capital would bully normal civilians like me?¡± The senior officer fell silent. Are you even close to being a normal civilian? ¡°Miss Quan Jin, the personnel from the capital¡¡± was indeed beyond reach and would require your power to find out. The officer dared not to continue. But Quan Jin did not even wait for him to finish speaking: she was already on her way out of the prison. She passed the vice-captain and his teammates, throwing a brief look at them out of the corner of her eye. The vice-captain could not speak. Damn! Was she holding a grudge toward them? They did not expect Quan Jin to just leave after staring at them. Just as she was about to round the corner, she looked at the senior officer and ordered, ¡°No matter who that so-called powerful personnel is, there must be punishments! I am leaving. Get out of my way.¡± ¡°Yes, Miss Quan,¡± the vice-captain said. His teammates echoed, ¡°Yes, Miss Quan.¡± Her disappearing silhouette, the senior officer recalled, seemed to match the person buried within his past memories. He shivered, realizing that his palms and back were soaked in cold sweat. That familiar way of dealing with things¡ That commanding tone¡ It must be her! She was back! There was no need to find out who wanted her dead or to punish the vice-captain. She was not a lenient person, though. Quan Jin simply looked down on them so much that she deemed all these options a waste of time. However, in knowing how to deal with the personnel from the capital, the senior officer seemed evidently powerless. ¡°Mr¡ Mr Officer¡¡± the vice-captain stuttered, looking at him. After stewing in his own thoughts, he dared, ¡°Isn¡¯t Miss Quan Jin simply the inheritor from the Quan¡¯s? Why were you treating her in¡ in such a way?¡± The senior officer turned to him and scorned. ¡°Simply the inheritor from the Quan¡¯s?¡± As the senior officer looked at the shivering vice-captain, the prison was filled with his negative energy. The vice-captain was so horrified that he did not even dare to look up. ¡°Mr Officer, does it mean that Miss Quan Jin¨C¡± Chapter 9 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Just as the vice-captain was going to talk about the most critical information, the senior officer interrupted him. His face remained void of emotions, but his words were of warning, ¡°Secrets are meant for the dead. The more you know, the faster you die. All you have to know is that you can¡¯t afford to offend this person and neither can I, no one in this country can mess with her. If you¡¯re afraid of death, take today¡¯s events to your graves.¡± It was the most depressing sentence the vice-captain had heard from the senior officer ever since he had assumed that position. Even as the senior officer spoke, there was a hint of fear and respect in his voice. What exactly was her identity? Not even a single person in the country could offend her? ¡ª- After leaving the prison, Quan Jin was sent back to her home in Jiang as ordered by the senior officer. On the way, she was greeted with bows from the servants. Just as she approached the door of the mansion, she heard the voices of her parents: they were arguing. Even the nanny on duty had been chased out. ¡°Engagement ceremony cancelled by the princess of the Quan¡¯s, the Mo family is subpar!¡± Master Quan was enraged. He slammed a printed article on the tabletop, his face crumpled in fury, ¡°When did she agree to get engaged with Mo Qingtian?! Why hasn¡¯t anyone informed me about it?!¡± His words hit Master Quan¡¯s wife like a truck. She was shocked silent as she recalled important information. Her perfectly maintained complexion paled. ¡°Engagement? With the Mo¡¯s?¡± ¡°Look at it yourself!¡± Master Quan scanned the document on the table with his chilling eyes. Picking up the article, her eyes widened as she looked down at the words that were staring right back at her. ¡°Business genius, Princess of the Quan¡¯s makes her strong return!¡± ¡°Mo Corporation seized!¡± Mrs Quan gripped the paper tightly, conflicted. What on earth had just happened? Why was Quan Jin¡¯s identity exposed? Leaving aside the news of Mo Corporation shutting down, the phrase ¡°Princess of the Quan¡¯s¡± alone could shake the entire upper class. Everyone would know about the existence of Quan Jin, a secret that they had tried their hardest to keep, even investing a whole lot of effort to decline her spot in the government. Now, all those efforts had gone to waste because of an insignificant engagement ceremony. ¡°What should we do? Quan Jin¡¯s identity is exposed, they could see what she looks like, what if¨C¡± Master Quan panicked as he witnessed his wife¡¯s hysteria. He reached out, pinching his nose bridge, and explained with a slight headache, ¡°I have ordered for this article to be taken down within ten minutes of its publication. Now, only the upper-class families in Jiang might know about this, I don¡¯t think it has reached the masses yet.¡± Quan Jin, who was not standing too far from them, could hear the conversation clearly. There was one thing that she had never been able to understand: seven years before, her name had been made a secret because she was too outstanding, and could have been threatened or assassinated. Now, however, Quan Jin was no longer the golden child of the country. Why was her family still hiding her identity? ¡°You should have never let An Yunnuan come this close to Quan Jin. If it hadn¡¯t been for her, this would have never happened.¡± Master Quan¡¯s voice echoed from the hall again, ¡°This is absolutely ridiculous! Call Quan Jin and get her back home right now. She shall never step outside of these quarters ever again!¡± Quan Jin let out a snicker. Having lived her life until then, no one had ever dared talk to her that way. ¡°Good morning to both of you, too. Didn¡¯t the people say that I was to be treated like a treasure? Why can¡¯t I even be known to the public?¡± Chapter 10 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Both their faces suddenly darkened: it was Quan Jin¡¯s voice. Why was she back? Quan Jin walked to the centre of the living room with her arms crossed as she looked at her parents with despise. Right in that moment, Master Quan seemed to recall how Quan Jin used to be when she was only ten years old¡ªso proud, arrogant, noble, and irrepressible. Quan Jin should not have shown such imposing vigor at such troubled times. ¡°How¡ How could you¡¡± Master Quan was pointing at his familiar, yet seemingly strange, daughter. She had the same appearance, figure, and voice. However, she appeared to be totally different from the person she had been the day before. All the melancholy, weakness, and insecurity in her had disappeared. Only one day had passed. What had actually happened to her? Master Quan was about to say something but decided against it. Instead, he explained, ¡°The reason we hid your name was for your own good! Do you know how many people out there want you dead? Why didn¡¯t you discuss the engagement with Mo Qingtian with us?¡± Quan Jin yawned lazily in response. How pretentious! Quan Jin glanced at her parents, seemingly knowing what they had conspired. She turned around and walked upstairs without saying a single word. Her parents were speechless as they watched her leave, an unsettling feeling engulfing them. Quan Jin entered her room. The first thing she did was check herself out in the mirror to see how ugly she had become. Ironically, her recent figure and appearance did not fail to disappoint. Damn. Her dull, yellow skin made her eyes look even more hollow. She was now only one and a half meters in height. Her face was so swollen that she looked like a rustic bumpkin from afar. I don¡¯t want to live with this face. Quan Jin took out a dagger from the drawer and pressed it over her wrist. She wanted to end her life with such a hideous face. She threw a look at a photo resting in the drawer. The girl in the photo was about ten years old. She was wearing a white, customized gown and the diamond diadem on her head did not steal the spotlight from her gorgeous face. Her original face. Her beauty had once been alluring and breathtaking¡ Quan jin slammed the dagger back onto the table. She closed the drawer, resting her finger on the red thread enclosing her right wrist. She only needed one life to utilize the prophecy and regain her beauty. Should she do it? No? Yes! No? I should not do it! Regaining my beauty should be the last thing on my mind right now. I am not shallow. She closed the drawer. I only have 4 days of life. Staying alive is more important than having an attractive face. The charming girl in the photo was ten-year-old Quan Jin. She wondered who was villainous enough to drug her for seven years, destroying her growth and brain functions, causing her intelligence to stagnate. She had to stay at the prison for half of a day only to obtain the medication procession permit. She needed special medication to treat her face. Quan Jin kicked the chair out of her way and pulled the door open. She was ready to go out and look for the medication. She stood in the hall on the second floor and took a look around the empty living-room. She was too lazy to walk back downstairs. She jumped over the handrails and landed dashingly on the first floor. Quan Jin had barely stepped out of the main door, when she saw a delicate figure running toward her. Her face was tiny and pale. Upon seeing Quan Jin, her eyes were filled with anxiety, surprise, and a little discontent. The girl looked too weak to even stand. She rushed to Quan Jin. ¡°Quan¡ Quan Jin! Why didn¡¯t you pick up my calls? Qingtian¨CQingtian¡¯s company is in huge trouble now!¡± Chapter 11 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°We¡¯ve received orders from above to seize Mo Corporation. I saw everything that had happened during the engagement ceremony¨CI¡¯m sorry, it was all my fault¡. If I hadn¡¯t had a poor heart, he would have never misunderstood you. I shall apologise on his behalf.¡± Quan Jin stopped short in her tracks, staring at the teary-eyed girl: An Yuannuan, from the middle-class family of the An¡¯s. She just wanted to slap her in the face. Watching as Quan Jin stood still, An Yunnnuan gripped tightly onto her wrist and sobbed, ¡°What should we do? What could we do now? Quan Jin, please, beg uncle! Only your family will be able to save¨C¡± Crazy! Quan Jin tugged An Yunnuan¡¯s hair and pulled her down. Unassuming, the girl was tossed to the ground, nearly hitting her head. She winced. ¡°How could you¡.,¡± An Yunnuan lay on the ground in pain, blood oozing out of her palms as they held her knees. She stared at Quan Jin with a confused expression: she had never fathomed that the woman could do this to her. Then, An Yunnuan noticed it. Quan Jin hadn¡¯t even flinched when she had heard the news of Mo Corporation¡¯s shutdown. Quan Jin looked down at An Yunnuan, eyes filled with conceit and arrogance. It was something Yunnuan had never seen from her all these years, and it made her feel as if she was beneath her. ¡°I ordered the Mo Corporation¡¯s shutdown! You ugly thing, touch me and I will kill you!¡± Even the words she spoke were devoid of affection. An Yunnuan was stunned as she took in Quan Jin¡¯s words, ¡°M..Mo Corporation¡¯s shutdown¡ was ordered by you? Why would you want to do that? Quan Jin, are you still blaming me for destroying your engagement? Not revealing your identity to Qingtian¡ I, I can explain, just recall that order to seize Mo¡¯s¨C¡± Quan Jin interrupted her, ¡°This is none of your business, get lost!¡± She lifted her leg and kicked An Yunnuan aside to make way for herself. An Yunnuan would have never thought that Quan Jin would hurt her. Tears rushed down her cheeks as pain spread through her body. Just as An Yunnuan regained some composure, trying to say something to Quan Jin, the woman had already walked away. Quan Jin still had to go to the pharmacy, and then take her life back: the world was still going around. She saw the security guard standing by the door in silence. Damn, Miss Quan was cool, he thought. It felt like the incredible girl from the past was finally back. A chilling shrill ripped through the air. ¡°Quan Jin!¡± Chapter 12 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio She looked up and saw Mo Qingtian¡¯s dazzling limousine. He rushed out of his car and ran over to help An Yunnuan up, taking extra care. The Mo Corporation was about to shut down. Yet, President Mo still had the luxury of time to express his love toward this lady? Had all presidents suddenly become fearless? ¡°Yunnuan, don¡¯t you try to beg this malicious woman for her forgiveness!¡± What the hell! She was malicious? Quan Jin has never felt so wronged in her entire life! ¡°Qingtian, I am fine¡I fell on the ground. This has nothing to do with Quan Jin.¡± As An Yunnuan continued to defend her, Mo Qingtian felt even more furious. He glowered at Quan Jin and said, ruthlessly, ¡°Nuan was still interceding for you even when she was hurt! Quan Jin, you and your disgusting methods¨Cdo you think that forcing Mo Corporation into such trouble could make me marry you?¡± Quan Jin scowled. Mo Qingtian must have a pea brain. ¡°I sincerely just want to destroy the Mo¡¯s.¡± Mo Qingtian was taken aback by Quan Jin¡¯s stern and serious tone. He fixed his eyes on her face, hoping to find any trace of lies. There was nothing. To think that just the day before, she was willing to trade her heart with An Yunnuan for his hand in marriage. Now she threatened to annihilate the Mo¡¯s! Mo Qingtian was unable to accept the fact that he could not charm her¨Call he could do was convince himself that Quan Jin was playing hard to get. He spoke to her with the same old tone, ¡°Quan Jin, you¡¯re too much! I¡¯ve only loved Nuannuan since the beginning. If you don¡¯t want me to hate you, you¡¯d better get ready for her heart transplant tomorrow, she needs it urgently! Or else, I will make you regret it for life!¡± Getting ready for her heart transplant? How dare he still threaten her with such arrogance? Quan Jin crossed her arms and almost laughed out loud. ¡°Wow¡ President Mo, how suave!¡± Quan Jin looked down on him as if he were some sort of peasant. ¡°However, you¡¯re nothing more than the dog of an irrelevant family. What can you possibly do to make me regret doing this?¡± Her words were crushing him. Chapter 13 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio He was nothing but the dog of an irrelevant family¡ Pathetic. These words filled his thoughts. He was red with anger. Just as he was ready to fight back, Quan Jin uttered, ¡°Indeed, when you give in too much, some dogs start to take it for granted. You exploited my feelings so that you can force me to donate my heart to save your lover? When I leave in disappointment, you suddenly realize what you have done and take your words back? After all of that, you used this relationship as an excuse¨Cthinking that I would return to you!¡± The more Quan Jin said, the darker Mo Qingtian¡¯s expression became. Oh, how he wanted to retort¡ ¡°I will never in my life look at you again!¡± Under Quan Jin¡¯s intense and arrogant stare, Mo Qingtian could not say a word. ¡°Son of a¨C¡± Quan Jin tried to suppress the urge to curse him out. Ignoring an appalled and confused An Yunnuan, Quan Jin turned to leave under the watch of a few guards who were beyond impressed by her. Quan Jin slowed down as she passed by the security officers. In that precise moment, Quan Jin was, for a lack of better words, gentle. ¡°Throw these two barking dogs out right now¡± What did she say¨Cthrow these dogs out!? The leader of the security team was stunned, only for a moment, before coming back to his senses, ¡°Yes, ma¡¯am.¡± ¡°Forget the courtesy,¡± Quan Jin replied. There was a moment of silence. Damn, habits die hard. ¡°Thank You.¡± The team leader did not seem to disagree with her, and excitedly interlocked his fingers. Since her tenth birthday, her body had progressively deteriorated. Within a month she had become weak and frail, cause unknown. All the elders were losing hope, the position of the heir was in danger. The higher-ups in the company had decided to remove her from her position. Once that was implemented, she was no longer going to be protected by the Quan family. ¡°Quan Jin! You evil woman, I dare you! Let go of me! I am Mo Qingtian of the Mo family, if any of you dare to touch me¨C¡± Quan Jin picked her ear as Mo Qingtian barked away. She walked toward his car, keys still hanging in the lock. She opened the door and sat down, buckled up and revved up the engine. She pushed down on the accelerator, hands on the wheel. ¡°Security! Chop one of his fingers off immediately!¡± He stared at her with bloodshot eyes, silent. ¡°Mo Qingtian, remember, the girl that had liked you was already dead, and right now you can¡¯t afford to offend me!¡± And off she went in his limousine, right before Mo Qingtian¡¯s eyes. Chapter 14 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Quan Jin left everyone with those arrogant and defiant words. She had said that the Quan Jin who loved Mo Qingtian was dead. The cowardly Quan Jin was dead¡ Mo Qingtian stopped cursing and remained stunned, in silence, for a while. He then rushed in the direction that Quan Jin had driven off, and shouted hysterically, ¡°Bitch! You disgusting and slimy bitch!¡± ¡ª- Quan Jin reached the car park next to the pharmacy in Jiang in less than half an hour. After obtaining the medication for her illness, she had to find a way to increase her health points. She had a secret which she had never shared with anyone else in the world: her soul was incomplete. That was the reason why she had to rely on her health points to survive. She could gain health points through people¡¯s admiration, love, and gratitude. Anyone sincerely wanting Quan Jin to live would give her another chance at life. For Quan Jin, one health point equalled one day of life. Being able to predict the future was Quan Jin¡¯s special power. At her best, she had the power to even destroy the universe if she wanted to. However, as her soul was no longer complete, she had to waste one day of her life to foretell. Only once she had gained ten thousand billion health points, her soul would be repaired. Ten thousand billion¡ How can I ever get that many? Damn it! The original Quan Jin had already been killed by the chronic poison. In four days, she would be dead as well. As Quan Jin walked to the market, feeling irritated about having to collect so many health points, a voice right in front of her screamed, ¡°Look! Someone is attempting suicide! A high school student!¡± Quan Jin looked up. It was a girl. She must have been about fifteen or sixteen years old, standing on the rooftop of a building with more than ten floors. Quan Jin could hear voices shouting out to her, ¡°Stay calm! Don¡¯t do this!¡± ¡°Just come back down, anything can be discussed¨C¡± ¡°Why must she kill herself? I really don¡¯t understand what kids are thinking these days. What¡¯s gonna happen to her parents after she dies?¡± No one noticed that, as people had started shouting about her parents, the girl looked even more devastated. The crowd was getting larger and a lot of them had taken out their phones. However, calling the police was not their first intention. Instead, they had started to film the scene. ¡°I have to save her!¡± Quan Jin shouted. ¡°I have to!¡± She could see her health points already waving at her. Quan Jin turned back to the market, purchasing a mask to cover her ugly face. She headed in the direction of the rooftop. The crowd had already extended to a ten meters radius around the building, all trying to persuade the girl to come down. She stared blindly at the ground, her fingers tightly grasping at her uniform. She looked revengeful and isolated. ¡°I have tried my best¡¡± she murmured. ¡°Father, I really have tried my best¡ Why do you have to compare my performance with others¡¯? You have never understood what I really want or cared about my feelings. Why do you always have to force me¡¡± The girl¡¯s voice was too quiet to be heard, but Quan Jin was capable enough to read her lips. She knew that she was going to jump down soon as the girl closed her eyes, hopelessly. She barely had any time to register what was happening, and ran to the girl through the crowd. ¡°What are you doing?!¡± A few women blocked Quan Jin as she approached the building, ¡°You¡¯re going to trigger her further if you rush up to her now, can you bear such consequences?! Don¡¯t the youngsters nowadays consider these things before they do anything?¡± Quan Jin remained silent for a moment before she gave them a contemptuous look, before scaring them back with a harsh tone. ¡°Back off! I¡¯m the only person that could save her!¡± Chapter 15 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio I¡¯m the only one! The girl who spoke was wearing a mask. Her glare alone shook people to the core. Passers-by who were just about to criticize Quan Jin for taking someone¡¯s life as a joke, all proceeded to shut up in fear. One of the younger females sneered at her comment. She directed her livestream camera toward the rooftop and smirked. She was curious to find out, should the female student be triggered and really jump to her death, whether Quan Jin could remain so conceited. And she could also gain some followers at the same time. The girl standing on the rooftop stretched her arms open and leaned forward, a tinge of vengeance and relief lingering at the corners of her lips. All she had to do was to lose her balance and she would fall right down. The public surrounding the scene had their hearts in their throats as they held their breaths. At such a crucial moment, an almost magical voice came from behind the girl, ¡°So you trust me? Just hold on for another minute, and I will return you with a life of freedom.¡± A life of freedom? She never would have to be forced to study all day long, never would have to accept the things she hated, never would have to be afraid to fall short of their expectations? In front of the crowd, the girl held on to this last hope, turning slowly to face Quan Jin and laughed bitterly. ¡°He doesn¡¯t even care about my feelings and freedom. I don¡¯t get to choose what I like. And we¡¯re talking about freedom? After coming first in class, I had to come in first in school and then first in the province¡ How important are a single sheet of paper and a few numbers to them? More important than I could ever be!¡± Everyone watched in fear as the girl wobbled on the edge of the building¨Ca misstep and she would fall off. Quan Jin remained silent. Listening to the girl venting, a few parents in the crowd could not hold back their displeasure, ¡°What else could you do besides studying? Your parents are doing this in your best interest! In the future, you will be able to attend a great university and meet a great husband, how could you not be appreciative of their efforts?¡± ¡°We didn¡¯t even have money to go to school when we wanted to, back in the day!¡± The girl felt tired and helpless. And yet these people had decided to make it worse! The little hope that she had felt earlier from Quan Jin¡¯s words vanished. ¡°Right! It was all in my best interest, no matter what they had forced me into, it was all in my best interest!¡± They destroyed her dreams to become an artist and a pianist for her own good, and berating her while calling her useless when she couldn¡¯t meet their expectations was also for her own good? They had never questioned the things they had asked of her, they just knew it was what they wanted from her. Why keep her alive then? Quan Jin spoke, ¡°Jumping off from here just proves that you are weak, hopeless, and useless! You don¡¯t even have the courage to pursue freedom. Believe me, just ten seconds! Whatever you want, whatever you wish for, I will give it all to you!¡± Everyone held their breath. ¡°Three seconds!¡± Quan Jin pulled her mask down, revealing the eyes that the girl couldn¡¯t help but put her trust into, stepping back from the edge of the building. ¡°And one last second¨Calright, now look up and face the door of the stairwell.¡± She was indeed a persuasive and magical individual, pulling the helpless girl back from death and slowly toward the stairwell of the rooftop. Her pupils, once filled with emptiness and despair, shrunk in disbelief and dilated again¡ Chapter 16 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°Yu! What are you doing? Are you doing this to piss me off?¡± What happened? Everyone turned their heads to follow the girl¡¯s eyes. Those who were streaming also turned their cameras to a middle-aged man who was running toward the girl as he spoke. ¡°Stop right there!¡± The middle-aged man was stopped by Quan Jin¡¯s slender arm. She blocked the girl¡¯s father from getting any closer. Quan Jin turned her head to check on the panicked and terrified girl, calming her down. She then looked back at the man. ¡°Can¡¯t you see her hatred for you in her eyes? If you get any closer, not only will you not save her, you will trigger her to really take her own life!¡± The middle-aged man became even more anxious and glared at Quan Jin furiously. He told her off with an abrasive tone, ¡°I am trying to save my daughter here. What does it have to do with you!?¡± Quan Jin was irritated. She tried to calm herself down, but she found it really difficult. The man was so rude! The girl named Yu suddenly stepped closer to the edge of the building, half of her body leaning over. She yelled at the man hysterically, ¡°If you come any closer, I will jump down! You have always been like this! You think you can force me to do things that you want me to do with no regard for my feelings, just because you are my father. Have you ever tried to understand what I want and what I actually love to do? No! Not once!¡± ¡°Even after falling asleep at night, I could only dream of how you had scolded me for not being able to achieve what you wanted from me. All those tutoring classes that you signed me up were like nightmares to me! Father, I am just exhausted.¡± Immediately after expressing her feelings, she felt relieved. It had seemed that only death could have brought her such permanent relief. The man had never imagined that her obedient girl could commit suicide. Her actions grieved him. ¡°So was that how you have been thinking of me?¡± he said. ¡°Have you ever thought about why I did all those? It¡¯s all for your own good in the future¨C¡± Quan Jin scorned when she heard the man¡¯s emotional speech. She stood on the spot indolently with a cynical look on her face. She must have been raised in a noble family to portray such elegance and refinement. ¡°But what you have done is leading her to kill herself!¡± Quan Jin¡¯s words pierced the man¡¯s heart like a dagger. He was enraged, ¡°You! That is bullshit!¡± Yu was still floundering. Quan Jin walked closer to her father with a kind smile, forcing the man to step back. ¡°Don¡¯t try to find excuses for your selfishness! A lot of authoritative parents like you always defend themselves with the same excuses. But when your child is depressed, do you ever show any concern? Do you know how many youngsters kill themselves before an exam? She is already standing here on the rooftop. Is this not a warning to you?¡± ¡°Is living up to your expectations the only way for them to please you? Do you know how hard they study day and night and how many hours they get to sleep? And how anxious they are when it comes to exams? When she was too afraid to come home because of a piece of paper, did you ever think about how you caused it?¡± ¡°You are not perfect, yet you still force your kids to be. Do you want to ignore all their dreams and make them live a meaningless life?¡± The crowd was astounded. Every single one of her words echoed for everyone at the scene to hear. On the rooftop, a deadly silence lingered. The livestream chat on people¡¯s phones quieted down for nearly ten seconds. Then¡ The number of comments began to increase exponentially, reaching millions of views within the minute. Quan Jin¡¯s astonishing words had attracted everyone¡¯s attention, brutally tearing down the wall of the middle-aged man. He tried to retort subconsciously, but he soon realised that Qian Jin had not left him any room for that. ¡°Do you know why they start to hide their thoughts and keep everything to themselves? Do you know why they are getting less talkative and distancing themselves from you? Do you know why they smile less and less?¡± Quan Jin suddenly turned back after cornering the man. Her hair was blowing, showing her mighty aura. ¡°It is because of parents like you, who take away all the things they have ever loved and make them live like puppets!¡± Chapter 17 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio As soon as she had finished speaking, thousands of comments flooded phone screens: [Damn!!] [Arghhhh! How Cool!] [She said everything that I have held in all these years, how could she be so dashing, damn, my goddess¨Cno, she is more like a queen!] [I am totally going to show this to my parents, almighty queen, arghhhh!!] At this point in time, Quan Jin did not even realize that she was fuming mad. She could only feel. The four health points she had had left were slowly increasing, one point at a time. Even when it had reached twenty points, it kept on going. Quan Jin was mildly confused by the situation. Had God suddenly decided to take care of her again now that she was ugly? Faith is more than mere admiration and love. It is a form of praise from the deepest of our hearts, the kind of appreciation you¡¯ve got to feel within your souls. Twenty health points may have been little, but to think about it, they equaled more than twenty lives saved. ¡°Yu¨C¡± The middle-aged man was flustered by Quan Jin¡¯s outburst. He suddenly felt guilty and did not know what to do as he tried to regain his composure. He glanced at his daughter, his lips twitching slightly as he asked, ¡°what she said¡ is it true? Do you hate your dad? You hated that I took art and piano out of your life, isolating you from your only form of joy and entertainment¡ Was it wrong for me to compare you to someone better as a form of encouragement?¡± ¡°Yu, dad¨C¡± Without waiting for whatever excuse he could come up with, the girl interrupted with a slightly provocative tone, ¡°Yes! Are you happy now? Do you know what I want, what I want to do, my dreams? No, you know none of that! I lived in fear every day, afraid that I would disappoint you, afraid that you would take my hobbies away from me if I made a mistake. I hate you, I hate you to death!¡± Quan Jin, who was standing right by them, remained calm and collected. Her health points had increased again! She suddenly felt like a parvenu getting some new money, counting the number of lives she had in her head. She didn¡¯t even care about the argument unfolding right before her. The middle-aged man trembled a little, suddenly overcome by emotions. It was as if he had aged in an instant. He closed his eyes. ¡°I¡¯m sorry,¡± he said bitterly. ¡°I never thought it would be like that, dad will never force you into things you hate ever again¡ just get down here first. When your mom left, you were the only person I had. Could you even bear to see me alone in the future?¡± What did she just hear? In the future he would never force her into doing things she hated! The girl lifted her head in slight distrust, looking at the regret in her father¡¯s face. The helplessness in her eyes slowly turned into something more akin to surprise as she asked nervously, ¡°Dad, are you serious?¡± ¡°Yes, nothing could compare to you being alive.¡± It was true. She broke into a smile and shed tears of joy. She glanced at Quan Jin appreciatively and thought to herself that, when she had said that she would give her freedom, she had really meant it. ¡°Dad, in the future¨C¡± The girl wiped away her tears, still emotionally charged, and took a step toward her father. As she came down from the rooftop, however, she didn¡¯t notice the existing gap and missed her step. She lost her balance, falling backwards. ¡°Yu! No, NO!¡± Yu¡¯s father blanked out. When he realized what was happening, he rushed in fear. The crowd watched in horror as the girl fell through the air, heading straight to the ground. The comments on the livestream stopped. Before Yu¡¯s father could react, a shadow zoomed past him: it was that masked girl who looked about seventeen years of age. Thousands of people watched through the livestream as Quan Jin gripped the side of the rooftop platform. With the turn of her palm, she pushed herself up on a handstand, jumping down in the direction of the girl. Chapter 18 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Everyone, including the father, was terrified. They held their breaths while a sudden thought flashed through their brains: had Quan Jin just jumped down with Yu? Was she trying to save Yu, who had accidently slipped down from a rooftop that was more than fifty meters in height? She must have been crazy! The crowd rushed to the guardrails to see what was going on. Someone shouted, ¡± They both jumped! Someone call an ambulance!¡± ¡°It would be a miracle to even survive from this height. Why did she have to sacrifice herself to save a stranger?!¡± Everyone on the rooftop, the pedestrians who were filming from below the building, and the livestream viewers all focused on the girls in the air. On top of the building, people were trying to hold the devastated father back. Yu shouted as she lost control of her body. The weightlessness was suffocating her. She could see her death coming. At that moment, Yu really wanted to live, but her struggle appeared feeble and futile. All of a sudden¨C An arm wrapped around Yu¡¯s waist. Her barely functioning brain caught up. It was her voice! ¡°With me, you will not die! Do you trust me?¡± She finally dared to open her eyes and saw a pair of eyes so bright that they could light up the night. ¡°Yes!¡± Yu grasped Quan Jin¡¯s clothes tightly, forcing herself to calm down. Words slipped out of the mouth, ¡°Yes! I trust you!¡± The scene that unfolded was unbelievable. Passers-by below the building and all those on the rooftop were stunned. Livestream viewers watched, slack-jawed. Quan Jin kept her right arm wrapped around Yu¡¯s waist. Her left hand had grabbed the deep groove of the outer wall on the ninth floor. Their bodies were hanging in the air. If Quan Jin¡¯s left hand had slipped, they both would have crushed on the ground from such height. ¡°They didn¡¯t fall! They are still alive!¡± ¡°Oh my god, is she even human?! How could she survive¨C? She even saved the girl! That is terrifying!¡± ¡°Yu! You guys hang in there! You must hang in there! Dad will go find someone to¨C¡± Quan Jin didn¡¯t wait until Yu¡¯s father had finished talking. She suddenly let go of the wall and they both started to fall from the ninth floor! As the crowd screamed, she tried to leverage from the light kick of the wall. They spun, and Quan Jin managed to grasp the groove of the outer wall on the sixth floor using her slender arm. ¡°Wow!¡± ¡°Wow! Oh¨Coh my god!¡± If they thought that Quan Jin saving Yu was just a coincidence, what about then? She had jumped from the ninth to the sixth floor safe and sound. Whoosh! Quan Jin threw their bodies out into mid-air again. Yu was grasping Quan Jin¡¯s top for her life, her eyes closed. She could feel her heart racing. It¡¯s okay, I¡¯ll be fine¡ I¡¯ll be fine¨C Right in front of everyone¡¯s stunned faces, the two of them were descending at high speed. Thump! They landed on the ground. Quan Jin¡¯s kept her arm wrapped around Yu¡¯s waist. The wind was blowing her hair up, covering half of her face. The corner of her mouth curved into a smile. The air stilled. Silence lingered. Chapter 19 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The air stilled. Silence lingered. Not only had she not died while falling from the building; she had easily saved someone¡¯s life! If they hadn¡¯t witnessed the scene in person, no one would have believed it ever happened. Silence engulfed the area as everyone¡¯s eyes fixed on Quan Jin. Some were in shock, some in disbelief, while others were overcome with emotions and respect for her. Finally, the crowd burst. ¡°Oh my goodness, you¨Cyou are not some deity or anything of sorts right? How did you even manage to save someone¡¯s life from way up there?¡± ¡°Did she just walk on air?¡± Quan Jin remained silent as a crowd started to form around her, and the number of comments on the livestream exploded. Phone screen filled with words¨Cthe astonishing scene had really shaken everyone to the core. [All hail the queen!] [Did she really not use any props? That¡¯s crazy, don¡¯t hold me back now I¡¯m going to beg to be her student! Arghhh, I really want to backflip like her too!] [My heart when she landed! Too cool!] Feeling her health points multiplying, Quan Jin realized it was the first time she had experienced the perks of showing off. Pulling off such a stunt at high grounds just to earn some health points¡ she even had to act like it was difficult to save a life! Please, for someone of her calibre that was peanuts. ¡°Yu!¡± Her father pushed past the crowd. A tear fell when he saw his daughter safe and sound, ¡°I am so glad you¡¯re fine, so glad¨C¡± Quan Jin disentangled herself from Yu¡¯s hold. Yu watched as her father continued to blame himself, and felt her feet on solid ground. She must have been dreaming¨Cshe was alive! The girl with the mask had saved her. ¡°Dad! I was so scared, so scared, sorry¨C¡± Everyone watched the father and daughter, crying and laughing in each other¡¯s arms. Quan Jin backed into a corner while no one noticed and raised her finger to touch the red thread around her wrist. Sixty-one points! Fifty-nine had come from the livestream viewers. It was a useful tool to earn some health points. Too bad she had to reveal her face. ¡°Hey, where¡¯s that girl with the mask?¡± ¡°Wasn¡¯t she standing right here just now, how did she suddenly disappear?¡± The crowd had caught on to the fact that Quan Jin had vanished. Livestream viewers were going crazy at her disappearance. [Return me my queen now!] Yu¡¯s father lifted his head and scanned the surroundings, finally spotting Quan Jin¡¯s silhouette turning at a corner, cool and carefree. The direction in which she had left happened to bring her straight to the pharmacy. ¡°Dad, did she leave? I haven¡¯t thanked her for risking her life to save me yet¡¡± Hearing the disappointment in her words, her father looked in the direction Quan Jin had walked and bit his lips slightly. He patted her back and offered some comforting words, ¡°Dad will find her.¡± Even if she hadn¡¯t saved Yu, he would have investigated her simply based on those crazy skills she had. Looking at the way she dressed, Quan Jin was probably a peasant with no rights or authority. If he could manage to get to her¡ and then recommend her to the Capital, his future¡ Yu¡¯s father was happy just at the thought of it. ¡°Yu, dad will send someone to take you home.¡± Yu nodded. Completely missing his last sentence, his eyes were strong with conviction. ¡°The headquarters have informed me that there would be a main target getting medication from the pharmacy in the immediate future. Dad has to go¨Cit is extremely important. Don¡¯t worry, I will turn the entire city inside out to find her!¡± Chapter 20 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I will turn the entire city inside out to find her!¡± That¡¯s how people were. No matter how much one may have helped them, they only showed their gratitude in the moment. However, once the crisis was over, most of them only cared about their own interests. With whatever meager compassion she had, Quan Jin was still willing to save someone who would be grateful. As Yu¡¯s father rushed to the pharmacy, Quan Jin had already reached its entrance and presented the shiny green permit to the security guard. He frowned, eyeing Quan Jin from head to toe. Then, the security guard questioned her suspiciously, ¡°Are you sure that this is your permit?¡± She had waited so long only to be asked such a humiliating question? Quan Jin tried her best to calm herself down, pressing her hands together. She answered, ¡°Are your eyes freaking¨Cof course it¡¯s mine!¡± Damn it. Quan Jin hated that superficial society. The security guard looked doubtful, but let it slide anyway. He kept quiet for a few seconds and decided to trust his instincts. He was going to give her the permit back and let Quan Jin in. ¡°Quan Jin!¡± A girl behind her squealed, surprised, ¡°It¡¯s really you! Why are you here?!¡± The girl was dressed in designer clothes, with full, delicate makeup on her face. Judging from her age, she could have been Quan Jin¡¯s schoolmate. The security held the permit back, ¡°Do you ladies know each other?¡± The girl looked at Quan Jin from head to toe with indifference, ¡°Of course we do! If I heard correctly, you just said that you own that permit?¡± The girl kept a superior demeanor in front of Quan Jin, talking to her in a dismissive tone, ¡°She is just a poor girl adopted by the Ans. Where could she have possibly gotten the permit from? An Yunuan is in the hospital because of you! How can you not be there to serve her? You are so ungrateful!¡± The security guard¡¯s face turned mad after hearing what the girl had said. She was just an orphan adopted by the An family? Not to mention the adopted daughter of the third-tier Ans! Even the An master was not entitled to own the permit. But it had the signature of the senior officer from the Capital! ¡°Security!¡± Seeing that Quan Jin had been ignoring her, the girl crossed her arms and walked around Quan Jin, nodding. ¡°I am sure that this permit is not hers!¡± Quan Jin was silent. Why the hell is she messing with me? ¡°If I remember correctly, it is illegal to produce a fake permit. You can go to prison for this!¡± She took out her phone, getting ready to call the police as she spoke. The security guard stood pitilessly, seemingly making no attempt to stop her. If this had been a normal permit, he could have still turned a blind eye to this whole thing. But this belonged to the Capital. If it was, indeed, a fake one, he could not bear the severe consequences. Quan Jin suddenly took the girl¡¯s phone from her hand. She raised her head, getting ready to start cursing. What happened next frightened her. Crack! Quan Jin broke her phone in two with an impatient expression. She twisted it into pieces and smashed them one by one, dropping them at the girl¡¯s feet right before their eyes. Chapter 21 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The leader of the security guard was taken aback, speechless. The girl looked like all blood had drained from her face, and choked on her own words. Quan Jin retrieved the permit from the hands of the security guard and, under their wide-eyed gawks, she turned and entered the pharmacy, ¡°Get lost before I get mad. Those lousy rules set by the Capital only work for you people. They can¡¯t control me!¡± The sheer arrogance in her tone! No, she shouldn¡¯t¨C The girl stared at Quan Jin¡¯s silhouette, her heart overwhelmed with emotions. As far as she could remember, Quan Jin had always been ordered around by An Yunnuan like a servant; not only was she weak, she had seemed extremely naive as well. How could she have broken the cell phone with such brute force? ¡°Guard the pharmacy entrance!¡± Watching as Quan Jin entered the pharmacy, the security guard began to relay orders to the rest of the team, then glaring at the confused girl, ¡°Are you sure that the permit doesn¡¯t belong to her?¡± The girl immediately regained her composure and confirmed, ¡°Yes, I am sure. We were schoolmates, she was just the adopted godchild of the An family. With her status, there is no way she could have this permit. She must have stolen it.¡± Seeing what Quan Jin was capable of, it was likely that she had stolen or maybe even extorted someone for it. The security guard quickly pulled out his cell phone and dialed. As soon as the call was connected, he spoke anxiously, guilt echoing in his voice, ¡°Manager, we have an emergency! The target has shown up, but it¡¯s a decoy! The permit is real, but the person was not, she has already entered the pharmacy and¨Cshe seems to be displaying some abnormal behavior. We¨Cwe can¡¯t take her down¡ Alright, I will immediately inform the vice-captain of the law enforcement team.¡± The security team collectively let out a sigh of relief when the call ended. ¡ª Yu¡¯s father, the pharmacy manager, hurried in, not long later, sweating profusely, fear clouding his eyes. He had been specially instructed by the senior officer from the headquarters. That person was of such high status that even the Capital could not afford to offend them; now the security was claiming that it was an imposter! ¡°Are you sure the person was an imposter?¡± The middle-aged man glared at the security guard, with a cold, reprimanding tone. The girl standing right by them masked any animosity she had toward Quan Jin and interrupted them with confidence, ¡°I am sure! I recognize her, she must be an imposter!¡± ¡°She¡¯d better be! Why haven¡¯t you arrested her yet? If anything happens and the Capital finds out, we will be dead meat!¡± ¡ª- Quan Jin was completely oblivious to the confusion outside the pharmacy. She found her medication on the top floor of the pharmacy. The toxins in her body were rather unusual, destructive to the nervous system, and there wasn¡¯t a single antidote available on the market. No hospitals in the Capital, let alone those in Jiang, had been able to diagnose her properly. Quan Jin could not fathom who would have wanted to kill her. Footsteps scurried up the stairwell. ¡°According to the surveillance system, she is on this level,¡± came the voice of the security guard.. ¡°Surround her, and be careful with the medication!¡± As soon as she heard the words, the security team rushed up with their tasers, completely surrounding her as she took her medication. All in high alert, as if they were arresting a criminal. Quan Jin looked up in confusion. What on Earth¡? ¡°How daring of you to try to impersonate someone appointed by the headquarters!¡± The security guard and the pharmacy manager strode toward her, angered. The manager looked at her, ¡°You¨Cit¡¯s you! Why are you here?¡± Chapter 22 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°You¨Cit¡¯s you! Why are you here?¡± After seeing her face, covered with a mask, the manager was surprised. It was unbelievable. Wasn¡¯t she the one who had just saved the girl on the rooftop? Why was she there, at the pharmacy? Was she the imposter with the fake permit? ¡°Manager, she¡¯s the one!¡± Yu¡¯s father fixed his eyes on her, but she didn¡¯t seem scared at all. With a slight shift in his demeanor, he interrogated, ¡°Where did you get the permit signed by the senior officer from?¡± Quan Jin took a look at the security team who surrounded her. She put the medications in her pocket and replied, ¡°He gave it to me? Do you have any problems with that?¡± She still didn¡¯t want to admit that she had stolen the permit. The security had already told him who Quan Jin was. She was merely the adopted daughter by the An family, who might have only done so because of her Kung Fu. Owning such an important permit? That was definitely impossible. ¡°Drop the weapons, back off.¡± Yu¡¯s father raised his hand and asked the security team to step back as then he walked to Quan Jin. He furrowed his brows, pretending to be concerned, ¡°Entering the pharmacy with a fake identity is illegal! Tell me the truth, how did you get the permit? You saved my daughter, I surely will try my best to save you. If the vice-captain arrives, I can¡¯t do anything about it.¡± He finally attracted Quan Jin¡¯s attention. She sneered at him. Yu¡¯s father understood that she had already seen right through him. ¡°Oh!¡± Quan Jin raised her voice at the end, running out of patience, ¡°Alright, let¡¯s wait for him then. You can ask him yourself whether I own the permit or not!¡± Not believing that Quan Jin did not appreciate his offer, the man looked embarrassed. Still, he tried to remain patient and persuade her once more, ¡°Miss Quan, I know that you are confident about your Kung Fu. However, I believe you do need someone with a powerful background to protect you. If you are willing to¨C¡± Before the middle-aged man had reached the main point, Quan Jin stopped him and said, ¡°If I am willing to work for you? So that you can please the Capital¡¯s authorities? Do you remember how thankful you were after I saved your daughter from that rooftop? How can you go from being thankful to threatening within the hour? I am warning you. You should not be overconfident about yourself and your judgements.¡± Nothing could restrain Quan Jin. Ever since her birth, she had never needed to understand what being low-profile meant. She never held back, at any time. ¡°Don¡¯t even dream of using me! A few years back, you were just insignificant to me. No one in this country was qualified enough to stop me!¡± Before Quan Jin had finished speaking, the man had already felt slightly unsettled. However, after her entire speech, he simply felt that Quan Jin was too arrogant to deal with. He had seen more than enough egotistical people, but few of them could survive in society. ¡°Great, great! Since you do not appreciate what I offered, don¡¯t blame me for not helping when the vice-captain arrives.¡± Right on cue, they heard footsteps approaching from the staircase. Together with a number of teammates, the vice-captained ran up, handgun secured in his belt.. ¡°Vice-captain, thank you for coming over.¡± Yu¡¯s father immediately put on a smile. The vice-captain cut him off bluntly, ¡°Where is the imposter?¡± Looking in the direction that the man was pointing at, he took out his handgun and was ready to order his team to lock her up. Suddenly, as he lifted his head, he saw a familiar face that terrified him. Chapter 23 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio It was that same face that sent chills down his spine. Quan Jin shook her right leg, bored. Her condescending eyes and dangerous smile completely devastated the vice-captain again. ¡°Are you going to shoot me or what?¡± Sh¨Cshoot?! That was bad news. What the hell¨Cdidn¡¯t they say it was a decoy?! ¡°What¡¯s wrong vice-captain? Do you know her?¡± Yu¡¯s father watched with a heavy sense of foreboding as the vice-captain was scared stiff,, as if he had just seen someone powerful. She was merely the godchild of the An family. Logically she shouldn¡¯t have had anything to do with the vice-captain. Unless? Just as the thought hit him, the vice-captain had hurriedly put away his pistol, and scurried toward Quan Jin. He bowed down to her right in front of everybody. With his chin tucked into his neck, he said with reverence, ¡°Yes, I have met Miss Quan.¡± The security team was stumped. Yu¡¯s father watched with his mouth agape. Quan Jin wiped the smile off her face and, with a sudden coldness to her tone and a tinge of sarcasm, she inquired, ¡°Does the Capital have a problem with me or what? Why do they let you people constantly harass me.? Quan Jin looked down at the vice-captain. She reached down to pat him on the back, sending chills down his spine yet again, and continued, ¡°If you fools can¡¯t handle it, I don¡¯t mind taking matters into my own hands.¡± Upon hearing her words, the vice-captain was short of collapsing to the ground. Taking matters into her own hands? Like wiping out the entire Mo Corporation with her own hands? Three hours ago the news of the Mo Corporation¡¯s shutdown had shaken the entire upper-class. When Quan Jin was leaving the engagement ceremony, that almost joke-like sentence had really stuck with the vice-captain. ¡°Please, Miss Quan, I beg you not to worry! I will definitely offer a satisfactory resolution to this matter!¡± The vice-captain wiped away cold sweat, forcing a smile toward Quan Jin. He then turned around and ordered the rest of the team, ¡°Take the pharmacy manager away!¡± ¡°Yes sir!¡± Watching the unexpected scene unfold right before him, Yu¡¯s father was blindsided and struggled to maintain his composure, gaping at the vice-captain, ¡°What do you mean, vice-captain¨C¡± ¡°What do I mean?!¡± The vice-captain interrupted before he could finish. He glared at Yu¡¯s father and spoke with a chilling tone, ¡°I mean what I mean. Miss Quan Jin is the one chosen by the headquarters!¡± Chapter 24 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio She was¡ she was appointed by the senior officer? Yu¡¯s father felt a sudden shock to his core. The man was too terrified to even breathe, completely engulfed in fear. ¡°You told me on the phone, you assured me that this Miss Quan was an imposter. I really want to ask you where even did you get such information from?!¡± The man and the security team all turned their heads toward Quan Jin¡¯s schoolmate. The girl was so shocked and scared that she kept shaking her head, barely mastering a full sentence. ¡°No, that¡¯s impossible!¡± The girl got cuffed up and shouted at the vice-captain and Quan Jin, ¡°She must be a fraud! Quan Jin was just An Yunnuan¡¯s pet, how could she possibly obtain such an important permit!? Vice-captain, director, you have to trust me¨Cyou can check, she is just a peasant, there must be a misunderstanding¨C¡± Quan Jin packed up the medication that she needed and walked through the two lines of security guards. She then headed toward the staircase, looking extremely cocky yet gentle at the same time. She slowed down as she walked past the director and her schoolmate. She pointed her index finger at the girl¡¯s mouth with disdain, ¡°If you say the word ¡®peasant¡¯ again, your family is done.¡± ¡°Who on earth do you think¨C¡± The girl didn¡¯t have a chance to finish talking. What Quan Jin said next has completely shocked her, ¡°Did that bitch An Yunnuan not tell you that my last name is Quan? That I am the heiress of Jiang¡¯s first family of the Quans?¡± Her last name was Quan¡ Jiang¡¯s first family¡ ¡°What!¡± The first person yelling was Yu¡¯s father. He sounded as if he had just heard the most unbelievable joke. He shook his head, ¡°No, that¡¯s impossible! Your schoolmate just said that you were just adopted by the Ans. How could you have come from the Quans?¡± Although he didn¡¯t admit it, his facial expression showed all his fear. If she was indeed the inheritor of the Quans of Jiang, then it was over for him. He had screwed up. He had just offended the most powerful family in the city and the senior officer from the Capital! He had even tried to threaten Quan Jin and wanted to use her. Yet, Quan Jin was way more powerful than he was. The girl scolded Quan Jin as she walked past, while the vice-captain took a bow and said, ¡°Take care, Miss Quan. Within three days, I will pay a visit to the Quans and let you know of the outcome of the investigation.¡± Chapter 25 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Visit the Quans personally? The vice-captain admitted¡ Sh¨Cshe really was¡! ¡°Qu¨CQuan family?¡± The girl¡¯s eyes were wide in shock, lips trembling as she mumbled those words. Still in a daze, she looked at Quan Jin, ¡°You¡ you really are the heir of the Quan family? Seven years ago¡ the only one that was inducted into the central agency, the Princess of the Quans¨C¡± ¡ª- Quan Jin could care less about the shocked and fearful expressions of the security team as she drove Mo Qingtian¡¯s limousine straight back home. A bunch of deaf commoners. Quan Jin just wanted to keep a low profile, but those dimwits had to force her to reveal her true capabilities. She was probably going to get into trouble for constantly showing off. Well, maybe not when she was ugly. ¡ª- Quan Jin arrived in less than half an hour. Just as she entered the gate to the mansion, she could feel the eyes of the servant upon her, watching her with confusion and a hint of worry and conflict. Quan Jin was confused, too. Something must have happened! Before Quan Jin could decipher the situation, the servant walked over, and looked at her closely while biting her lips, as if she was contemplating life or death. The servant suddenly knelt down and kowtowed at her feet, hitting her head hard against the ground. Quan Jin subconsciously responded, ¡°you may rise.¡± Damn! ¡®You may rise?¡¯ What the hell, why haven¡¯t I broken out of this habit? Tears welled up in the servant¡¯s eyes, ¡°Miss¨CThank you, thank you so much! If you hadn¡¯t saved me seven years ago, and brought me into this household, I would have starved to death on the streets, and now, even if I were to die, I still want to repay your kindness.¡± She spared a few glances toward the mansion¡¯s gate, afraid that someone would barge in. She blurted in a haste, ¡°I heard the conversation between the master and his wife. The Quan Corporation has decided to hold a meeting at eight tonight to oust you from the company! They are already on their way. You must think of something, quickly!¡± Listening to her anxious babbling, Quan Jin simply acknowledged with a slight ¡°oh.¡± Oh? Just ¡®oh¡¯? And nothing else? The servant stared at Quan Jin with wide eyes, waiting for her to continue, but she suddenly realized that Quan Jin had already turned away and was heading to her room upstairs. ¡°Miss¨C¡± Just as the servant was about to call for her again, Quan Jin turned back and responded, with indifference, ¡°They¡¯re going to do what they have to do. I could care less.¡± It wasn¡¯t as though she could remain in this family for long anyway. She wasn¡¯t exactly entitled to becoming the heir and carrying the family name. Besides, she was barely interested in doing that. ¡°Miss!¡± The servant stood up anxiously, but persisted, ¡°Miss, don¡¯t you know that once you¡¯re out of this company, you¡¯re no longer under the care of the family? The people who wanted to harm you¡ they have nothing to lose anymore!¡± Chapter 26 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Quan Jin finally reacted after hearing the servant¡¯s words. The Quans were not so easy to deal with. Ever since the moment that Quan Jin had set foot inside the house, a number of the servants and security guards had been staring at her with conflicting emotions and long-standing disappointment. This was such a pain! ¡°Who wants me dead?¡± Quan Jin asked the servant. She clenched her fists, ¡°I¡¯m not sure, Miss Quan. But you must not be ousted by the company. If that happens, all the servants here who were saved by you cannot bear such severe consequences. Once you are no longer protected by the Quans, we¡ we will be in big trouble.¡± In the Quans¡¯ mansion, more than thirty percent of the servants had been brought by Quan Jin. No matter how loyal they were to the Quans, deep down in their hearts, they only respected Quan Jin. Especially seven years before. At that time, Miss Quan was so powerful that her orders were more important than the Quans¡¯ master. No one on the board dared to object to any decisions she made. However, even her position as heir was threatened now. ¡°Alright, noted. Now get back to work.¡± Quan Jin turned her head to take a look at the anxious servant and was about to walk upstairs. The servant wouldn¡¯t have dared to talk to Quan Jin this way if she had not seen Quan Jin¡¯s change and how she had treated Mo Qingtian. But she did expect Quan Jin to show some concern for the imminent crisis instead of reacting so lightly. ¡°Miss Quan, everything I said was true. The assassins didn¡¯t take any actions only because the masters and the board were suspecting that there was something wrong with your health status. They kept monitoring you closely. We wouldn¡¯t be able to live for much longer, Miss Quan¨C¡± Quan Jin held back and waved at the servant to stop her fearful words, turning to face her again. ¡°You need to trust me! No one would dare to kick me out. This is because, from today onward, I am the one in charge!¡± It was her! Miss Quan had told her that she should believe in her. The servant suddenly raised her head, staring at Quan Jin¡¯s back. Her heartbeat sped up, and for the first time in seven years she felt like her emptiness had been filled. She had chosen to speak up and tell Miss Quan the secret that she had found out. It had definitely been the right move. ¡°Miss Quan¡¡± The servant suppressed her happy tears and kept nodding her head, ¡°I do! Not only me, all of them believe in you! Just like seven years ago, no one has given up on trusting you.¡± Chapter 27 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Those in the Quan family who worshipped Quan Jin continued to believe in her. They had never given up on her despite the fact that many of the elders and higher-ups deemed to have done so, even when she was weak, her intellect had deteriorated and she had been bullied for so many years. The servants of the household had anticipated the return of the dignified yet arrogant princess. Quan Jin returned to her room and sat down in front of the computer. It starts at eight, what¡¯s the rush? Her computer signalled that it was 7:49 PM. Only eleven minutes until the meeting and Quan Jin did not see the point in rushing. Did she not know that it would take thirty minutes to drive to the Quan Corporation from the house? Tick. Tick. Tick. Her fingers flew over her keyboard as she furiously typed away. Quan Jin lifted her feet to rest it on the tabletop, holding her computer on her lap as she watched the data show up on her laptop screen. [Entering data] [Please enter the correct password, password correct, obtaining data from emergency meeting, infiltrating Quan Corporation top corporate secret, infiltration complete.] [Do you wish to alter the stock market data, transferring Quan Corporation assets¡.] Click! [Confirmed] Quan Jin quickly entered a string of alphanumeric codes into the system. At last, she slammed the return button on her keyboard and proceeded to toss the device back onto the table. She kicked the chair back, running her fingers over a printed document and her car keys while she glanced at the words flashing on the screen in satisfaction. [Quan Corporation system failure, assets stolen, stocks crashing] [Facing imminent bankruptcy] In eight minutes, you will find out that there is only one person that can save the Quan Corporation. Last name Quan, first name Jin! She lifted her arm and slammed the laptop shut. It was now 7:52 PM. There were only eight minutes left until the start of the meeting, it was impossible to reach the corporation headquarters even while travelling at top speed. ¡ª- The servant stood at the stairwell, clasping her hands tightly, occasionally looking toward Quan Jin¡¯s room. The door opened. Quan Jin was holding a document in her left hand with her car keys hanging off her index finger. She stood by the side rails of the second floor, and before the servant could rush up to her, she pushed herself over the rails using her right hand, and landed on the ground floor with a light thump, her movements fluid. The servant gaped at what she had just witnesses. She just stood there, motionless. So cool! Quan Jin seemed to have even outdone herself seven years before with this comeback; still, she exuded that same elegance and a tinge of wildness. While she had been amazing in the past, she had never had quite the same confidence and arrogance as in the present. ¡°Miss¨Cwill you be heading to the Quan Corporation to halt the meeting? There is only seven minutes left, I¡¯m afraid you won¡¯t be able to make it¨C¡± the servant tried to remain calm as she shouted at Quan Jin who was leaving. Quan Jin gripped the document tightly and waved it in the air. ¡°Who said I was going to stop them? I am just going to change the nature of the meeting, to announce the new president of the company!¡± She spoke with confidence and sounded extremely convincing. ¡°President Quan Jin!¡± Chapter 28 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°President Quan Jin!¡± Oh my god! The security guards on call heard Quan Jin¡¯s words and became agitated, as if those seven years of grievance and depression had finally disappeared. Miss Quan was back! The long-lost confidence in her! The servant and the security guard kept their eyes on the silvery sports car that had just left. ¡°Did I hear correctly? Quan Jin is going to become the president and the new master of the Quans¨Chas Miss Quan finally recovered?¡± ¡°We have been waiting for seven years!¡± ¡ª- On the other side of the city, a customised black sports car was on the way to the Quan Cooperation, zooming across at a staggering 200 km/h. The heir of an aristocratic family, who looked younger than twenty years old, was driving the car. Bang! The boy hit the steering wheel with his fist, stepping even harder on the accelerator to release his anger. Screw those racers from the R country¨Cthey just cheated to win the match! They are not even that good, they just have better cars than we do. We have one last race to beat them. If we don¡¯t, our country must send a letter of apology to the R country. We can afford to be disgraced, but our country cannot! The fucking R country has already looked down on us! The boy felt even more furious as he thought of that. He gritted his teeth, pressing even harder on the accelerator. Where the hell can I find a good racer? They are just a bunch of losers! As soon as he had conjured that last thought, the sound of a sports car drifting pierced through his ears. A silvery sports car dashed out of a corner less than three hundred meters away. Both cars were going at such a high speed that they could barely see each other. No! The silvery car was even faster! ¡°Get lost!¡± he shouted, ¡°Hit the break! Do you want to die?! Hit the break now!¡± The road only allowed two cars to pass side by side. They were reaching such a sharp turn that the boy didn¡¯t have time to change lanes. If he couldn¡¯t do that, he would die. He was so nervous that his palms began sweating and his heart was thumping. The boy opened his eyes widely, witnessing the fast approaching sports car. They would crash in a second, and the cars would explode after such an impactful collision! ¡°Ah! Damn it¡!¡± His pupils shrunk and he screamed in horror. He was about to give up and face the fact that he was going to die soon. Then, something extremely uncanny and terrifying occurred. The coming silvery sports car suddenly took a thrilling drift. When they were only fifty meters apart, the girl with a mask took an unexpected and quick turn. Creeeeeeeeeek! The car drifted and halted, hopping two meters in height and jumped over the heir¡¯s car within merely a second! Thump! Quan Jin landed the car safely, and continued speeding toward Quan Corporation. Chapter 29 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Thump! Quan Jin landed the car safely, and continued speeding toward Quan Corporation. She hadn¡¯t slowed down one bit. In fact, she was going faster. The young boy¡¯s heart missed a beat. He had been certain that he was going to die. How did Quan Jin negotiate it so easily? The young man was the only one who had experienced the thrill of the moment. He really had thought that he was going to die. The young boy, who had just slammed on the brakes, was holding on to the steering wheel tightly, trembling and breaking into cold sweat, as if his soul had left his body. He only snapped out of his daze after half a minute, as he looked up to see the silvery sports car disappearing into the distance. The situation of the two cars crossing each other lingered in his mind. Beautiful swift. Perfect brake. The sports car had flown more than six feet above the ground. ¡°Found it! I found it!¡± The boy lifted his head up violently, his face filled with surprise and agitation. It was her, the one with the mask, driving a silver Bugatti Veryon! With her competing in the final race, his country had hope. They had hope! ¡ª- Quan Jin never expected her subconscious action would spur the young boy into hunting her down. The entire country¡¯s racing community had gone into a frantic manhunt. The thirty-minute journey was completed in five minutes as Quan Jin rushed over to the Quan Corporation¡¯s entrance. There was only a minute left until the emergency meeting. All the higher-ups in the company as well as the Quan elders had gathered in the conference room, voices of agreement drowning those of rejection, ¡°All these years, the Quan Corporation has been going downhill.¡± ¡°It is not going to be long until Miss Quan becomes an adult, right?¡± ¡°If the company fell into her hands, huh¨Cnot to be dismissive, but it would fail within a month and go bankrupt soon after!¡± ¡°The vice-president is right,¡± The Quan elder in the first seat agreed solemnly, looking at his watch, watching time slowly go by, and then lifted his head up, commenting in an assertive tone, ¡°Quan Jin had really been under-achieving these past few years. Perhaps, appointing her as the heir then was a mistake to begin with.¡± A mistake? The higher-ups and elders present shook their heads, ridiculing their past decisions. How could it have been a mistake when Quan Jin was so outstanding then? She was such a star and absolutely capable! She had been the only person to ever be inducted into the central government agency. They all thought that Quan Jin¡¯s existence would have propelled them into the Capital. They never would have thought that after her tenth birthday, a sudden, massive change lowered her IQ within a month, from a business genius to utterly useless. ¡°I¡¯m sure we¡¯ve all come to our conclusions after the discussions.¡± It was eight in the evening, and the current chairman of the Quan Corporation stood at the podium, announcing with gusto, ¡°Now, let us vote, do we all agree with the ousting of Quan Jin?¡± ¡°Of course, the position of the heir should not be given to her!¡± ¡°I agree with her ousting¡± ¡°Yes, I agree.¡± About thirty people were present at the meeting and more than ten had already agreed to the statement: Quan Jin¡¯s position was clearly in danger. At that crucial moment¡ Bang! The door of the conference room burst open with brute force. Chapter 30 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The door of the conference room burst open with brute force. The board didn¡¯t even realize what had just happened. The assistant was yelling at Quan Jin with haste, ¡°Miss, please get out of here! There is an ongoing emergency meeting, outsiders are not allowed to enter, if you are trying to break in, I will have to¨C¡± Outsider?! ¡°Oh¡ an outsider?¡± The girl cut in and shocked the assistant and the board before she could call security, ¡°Since when have I, the heir of the Quans, become an outsider?¡± Her voice was so familiar! And¨Cthe heir? Everyone¡¯s hearts jolted, especially the chairman sitting in the middle, whose face went pale. The entrance of the room became everybody¡¯s focus within half a second. More than thirty pairs of eyes looked stunned. It was her! Quan Jin! One of her hands was holding onto the doorknob and the other was carrying a file. She leaned in to block the assistant at the door. ¡°Heir? Are you¨Care you Quan Jin?!¡± The assistant found it hard to believe that the girl was Quan Jin. She didn¡¯t even know how to deal with the situation. Who possibly didn¡¯t know about her on the board? She was so notable back then, and how disgusted and disappointed people felt about her now! ¡°Why¡why are you here?¡± The chairman kept staring at her face, covering up his transitory nervousness. It was the master of the Quans¨CQuan Jin¡¯s father. ¡°Didn¡¯t I ask you to stay at home? The entire upper class was surprised by your engagement with the Mo¡¯s without my permission. Can¡¯t you contribute anything better to the Quans? How many scandals do you still want to create?!¡± Seeing Quan Jin¡¯s mocking smile and her clear eyes, the master of the Quans kept a straight face and sighed in disappointment, ¡°Quan Jin, you have let us down!¡± Quan Jin was confused. What had she done? Noticing most of the elders on the board shaking their heads and sighing to show their bitter disappointment, she didn¡¯t even know what she had done wrong. Bang! Quan Jin lifted her leg to kick the door shut. She lowered the mask on her face with her index finger, pulled a chair with her toes and sat down right in front of their angry faces. She then threw the file she was holding on the meeting table, crossed her arms and said, contemptuously and dangerously, ¡°Didn¡¯t you guys want to oust me from the Quans? Come on, let¡¯s continue with the meeting!¡± Chapter 31 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The senior, as well as all sitting participants, laughed in self-mockery. Look! That was the heir that they still had some faith in, and then? She had agreed to donate her heart to have Mo Qingtian¡¯s hand in marriage. Weak and useless, an easy victim of bullying! Now, she didn¡¯t even care for the image of the Quans. The bitter disappointment and emotions suppressed for the past seven years, were vented out on Quan Jin at that very moment, ¡°Quan Jin, the Quan family and the Quan Corporation were ruined by you! You have truly disappointed us!¡± ¡°Removing you from the Quans is for the best. You, at your current state, huh! You can¡¯t even handle the easiest tasks!¡± ¡°The heir should not be a useless piece of trash!¡± ¡°Remove her from the company, she is not capable!¡± Quan Jin sat there with indifference. Inside, though, she was bothered by the comments. That was defamation! The senior had completely given up. Shutting his eyes for a moment and opening them again, he was filled with assertiveness. ¡°Since there are no objections, master, announce the results!¡± Quan Jin was frustrated. She was no longer who she used to be, they should have known to give up! The Quans¡¯ master held onto the verdict prepared way ahead, subconsciously glancing at Quan Jin, watching as she lazily fell into a daze staring at the doors, almost as if she didn¡¯t care for the position of the heir. He sighed. Looking slightly conflicted, almost as if he was doing this for the sake of the family name, announcing in a deep voice, ¡°The board have unanimously voted for the dismissal of the company¡¯s heir. I declare that, from this day on, Quan Jin will be completely¨C¡± Just as the Quans¡¯ master was finishing talking, a few assistants burst through the conference room doors. All of them were pale and anxious as they interrupted the announcement, ¡°Something is very wrong! Ch¨CChairman¡. Ladies and gentlemen, the company accounts were illegally hacked into and the assets were completely heisted! The stocks are going to crash within three minutes! The Quans are about to face bankruptcy!¡± Bankruptcy? That must have been a joke! The Quans master the document he was holding slip through his fingers and onto the floor. All those who were present in the conference room were paralyzed in shock. Everyone besides Quan Jin. ¡°No, this is impossible!¡± The Quans¡¯ master spoke first. He promptly fell into his seat upon hearing the news of the imminent bankruptcy, and questioned in disbelief, ¡°How could the Quans go bankrupt? Assistant, is this a joke? How could all the assets processed just an hour ago disappear in such a short period of time?¡± The other assistants were shaking inside. Under such pressure from the higher-ups, the assistant who had given the announcement looked as if she was choking, unable to get her words out. She lowered her head, and responded solemnly, ¡°Chairman and all stakeholders, it¡¯s true! The account that had hacked into our systems is untraceable, the IT department couldn¡¯t do anything about it! As of ten minutes ago, the Quan Corporation is essentially already bankrupt!¡± The news shook them to their cores. The elders and higher-ups could only feel their heads buzzing from the whiplash. Quan Corporation was bankrupt. These four words rang in their heads as if it was some sort of spell. Someone suddenly went into a full meltdown and jumped out of his seat, slamming the tabletop and yelling at Quan Jin, ¡°You! You must be thrilled now that the Quans have gone bankrupt, you¡¯re a jinx to this company! If you hadn¡¯t come over to the office, all these would never have happened! Quan Jin! You useless piece of trash, why didn¡¯t you just die seven years ago, why are you dragging the Quans down with you¨C¡± The news of the bankruptcy must have gotten him so agitated that his fingers were trembling. I shall be nice, I shall not get angry, Quan Jin thought. All those people¡ She reached out to point at the agitated higher-up with a patronizing glance. ¡°You. Shut up¡± she said coldly. ¡°Quan Corporation will not close down. I am the one that can save this company.¡± Chapter 32 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°Quan Corporation will not close down. I am the one that can save this company¡± What was she talking about? ¡°Get the IT department to turn on their computers! A new Quan Corporation will rise in five minutes!¡± She said she would create a new Quan Corporation in five minutes. Did she mean that she could save the company? Had it been seven years before, they would have calmed down and trusted Quan Jin without a doubt. But now¡ ¡°You could save the Quan Corporation?¡± ¡°Huh, what could you possibly do to save us? Quan Jin, do you think we still trust you? How much more damage do we still have to bear because of you?¡± ¡°The multinational project was ruined by you!¡± ¡°You also lost that piece of valuable land in Jiang in an auction. It was only one hundred-thousand dollars less than An¡¯s winning bid! Only one hundred! Who else could have leaked classified information to An Yunnuan besides you?¡± ¡°I am begging you to leave us alone!¡± The board was venting the resentment accumulated through the previous seven years at Quan Jin, almost yelling at her hysterically. God only knows how much they wanted the original Quan Jin back, even just for a single day! But no¨Cshe was not coming back. The Quan Corporation was gone. Completely gone. Quan Jin grabbed the file on the table and threw it in the face of one of the higher-ups. The entire meeting room went quiet. Quan Jin stood up from her seat with an imposing attitude. What she had said had left everyone speechless. ¡°Seven years ago, the Quan Corporation was nothing without me! Don¡¯t overestimate the importance of your positions and take my contributions for granted. Everything you own, I¡¯ve given to you. I¡¯ve done it before and I can surely do it again. At the same time, I can take everything back!¡± She walked past the higher-ups, who were still in shock, and exited the conference room, walking toward the IT Department as directed by the assistant. The meeting room went into uproar. The elders and the higher-ups all looked up at the same time, and watched as Quan Jin left the room after she had spat at them with insolence. Such a familiar tone¡ The feeling of believing in her without rhyme or reason was back¡ No! The old her would never come back. ¡°Since it¡¯s gone, nothing matters anymore!¡± ¡°The Quan Corporation has been destroyed, what could you do, even if the board supported you? What you are doing now is merely accelerating the bankruptcy of the Quans.¡± Quan Jin had indeed destroyed all their trust and hope in the past seven years. They might have been swayed by Quan Jin¡¯s words right then, but they had already decided to give up on her. True disappointments only came after high hopes. Suddenly¨C ¡°Improvement plans for the Quans¡¯ cybersecurity?¡± The senior officer finally noticed the title of the file that had hit his face, which he remembered had been brought by Quan Jin since she entered the room. He couldn¡¯t help but open the file and start reading the content. Ten seconds¡ thirty seconds¡ Everyone saw the grieving senior officer suddenly straighten his back, eyes wide open. He then trembled, staring and holding the document tightly. ¡°What¡¯s wrong, deputy director?¡± ¡°This document is from Quan Jin? I knew it! How much more does she still want to destroy us¨C¡± The deputy director suddenly lifted his head and slammed the file onto the table. He explained to the rest, as he began running toward the Department of Cybersecurity, ¡°This time I believe her! I trust that she can save the Quan Corporation!¡± Chapter 33 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Only a second before, the deputy director had been beyond disappointed in Quan Jin, highly doubting her capabilities. However, soon after he had finished reading through the contents of the document, he had taken a complete step back in the way he treated Quan Jin. ¡°What¡¯s wrong with him?¡± ¡°Now that the Mo Corporation has been seized, could Quan Jin, who¡¯s so in love with Mo Qingtian, have been tricked by the Mo¡¯s to come up with this fake solution so that they could bring the Quans down with them?¡± Most of them decided to hold on to that last glimpse of hope, picking up the document to have a glance over it. Then, with their eyes shrinking and their hands clasping tightly, they were overwhelmed by emotions, trembling, as if they had just struck gold! Bang! Bang! The door was slammed multiple times as the higher-ups and elders rushed out of the conference room, their hearts thumping and tears running down their faces. In the lifts, on the walkways, at the stairwells¡all stakeholders were rushing to the IT Department. ¡°The old Quan Jin is back!¡± ¡°She¡¯s recovered, she¡¯s recovered, she¡¯s the only one in the whole of Jiang that could come up with a solution!¡± While the stakeholders had been reading the document, Quan Jin had already arrived at the entrance of the IT Department. She could hear dejected voices through the doors. ¡°What can we do? It¡¯s messed up, completely messed up!¡± ¡°The hacker owns a new account! Who on Earth would want to ruin the Quans so badly? Just ten seconds! Ten seconds were all it took to infiltrate the system.¡± ¡°Not even a minute before all the information was leaked!¡± ¡°Three minutes¨Cin only three minutes, stocks, assets, and the whole system went into failure! The Quans are now bankrupt!¡± ¡°Guess I was the one that did it,¡± Quan Jin thought to herself smugly. She reached for the door of the office and pushed it open. A voice stilled the air, breaking through the disheartened atmosphere in the office, ¡°Quan Corporation shall not be shut down, I will save the company!¡± A female voice? The slight childishness in her demeanor made her seem extremely young. All the technicians looked at Quan Jin and then around them. For a good moment, they could not believe that she had just said that. ¡°What did you just say?¡± Quan Jin scanned the computers in the area, and then walked toward the one right in the center of the office, ¡°Let me borrow the main computer, I will make sure everything goes back to normal in two minutes!¡± Everyone stared in silence. ¡°You mean you¡¯re going to fight that mysterious ID?¡± The technicians didn¡¯t mean to look down on Quan Jin, but their opponent was something else. While they thought of themselves to be decent enough in this field of work to be considered hackers, they were nothing compared to that one account that obliterated their systems. ¡°Save the Quan Corporation?¡± ¡°Huh, so many of us here and no one has any ideas on how to fix this and now you say you¡¯re going to save the Quans? I¡¯m afraid you can¡¯t even crack the password on sign-in. You have no idea what you¡¯re taking on¨C¡± ¡°When the company is in trouble, everyone wants to save it to receive some kind of reward! Too bad this is a lost cause.¡± Their doubtful words and mockery were put to a halt when¡ Ding! [Please enter the password, password is correct!] The speakers of Quan Jin¡¯s computer were turned on and the sounds from the device blasted through the office. [Turning on.] Chapter 34 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio [Turning on.] Did she just crack the password? They were just ridiculing her ambitious attempt at cracking the password, but she really had done it within a second! Such a big slap in the face! Then, the mechanical voice from the speaker kept going: [Launching the system of financial management.] [Please key in the account pass¡ Account matched successfully, infiltrating. Please key in your password. Reading Quan¡¯s stocks information¡] Tap. Tap. Tap. [Programme matching succeeded, clearing virus, system is recovering] Oh my god! Damn! All the technicians watched¨Cstunned, jaws dropped. They stared wide-eyed at Quan Jin¡¯s face, which was illuminated by the lights from the monitor. Her beautiful eyes were now focusing on the system. If anyone were to ask when Quan Jin¡¯s most fascinating and attractive moment had been? That would have definitely been it! The technicians nearly screamed. ¡°Oh my god, did I hear correctly?¡± ¡°I heard that the system was recovering debugging to almost forty percent? Get lost! Don¡¯t block my way! I need to take a look! Oh my god, is that even real!?¡± said a technician, standing next to Quan Jin. Five of them gathered at the monitor, while the other thirteen surrounded her with their mouths wide open. The scene was captured by the board members barging in. Tap. Tap. Tap. Quan Jin¡¯s fingers were dancing on the keyboard. One more string of complicated codes was typed out at a fast speed. More than twenty people tried to squeeze into the small office, listening to the instructions coming out of the speaker¨Call the technicians still found it too incredible to be true. ¡°What the hell!¡± ¡°She is coding at that speed? Doesn¡¯t she need time to think? Tracking the fund transferring account, she even managed to get the cashflow back within thirty seconds¨Coh my god, I need to calm down.¡± ¡°Are you some international top-listed hacker? You are just amazing!¡± Was it really happening? All the lost funds were back? The long lost Quan Princess was back! All the board officers and the founding members had tears in their eyes. They were surprised and relieved after experiencing hopelessness and despair. They had not been moved so easily, even during tough times. They had not even felt that affected upon being informed that the Quan Corporation had gone bankrupt. However, as they looked at the girl typing with such familiar confidence, arrogance, and loftiness, most of them could no longer hold their tears back. ¡°Deputy director! Founding seniors and stakeholders! Our¨Cour company¡¡± The senior assistant screamed as he ran toward them. He sounded so excited that he was trembling as he repeated the same words over and over again. He shouted as loudly as he possibly could, ¡°We got the funding back! The stocks status was maintained! Our system is back to normal¨Cour company has been saved! Everything has been restored! The Quan Cooperation is safe!¡± Everything¡ everything had been restored? The board and all the founding members held their fists up, trying to hold back their tears. They were just too agitated to even talk, and all they managed was to pat each others¡¯ shoulders. ¡°Thanks to our Quan Jin! She has recovered, she has fully recovered¨C¡± ¡°Everything is fine. Nothing can defeat her! She will do as she promised!¡± Quan Jin kicked the table, pushed back the keyboard and stood up with everyone¡¯s admiration. Her health points had increased! She had gained ten more, for a total of twenty-seven health points! She did not even care about the Quans or the Quan Corporation. But these people trusted her and believed in her with their hearts. She walked toward the door, staring at their guilty faces. She was like a queen making a triumphant return. ¡°I have already told you. I will give you an even more prosperous Quan Corporation in five minutes.¡± Chapter 35 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°I have already told you. I will give you an even more prosperous Quan Corporation in five minutes.¡± ¡°The Quan Jin you used to know is dead. The person standing right before you can never be defeated! From now onward, I will be the chairman of Quan Corporation and the master of the Quan household.¡± The higher-ups were speechless.. ¡°Any objections?¡± After processing what Quan Jin had just said, they immediately reacted. ¡°No objections, I will immediately prepare the letter of appointment, the Quan Corporation belongs to you and it always will, you shall have it if you want it!¡± ¡°Your wishes are our commands, Quan Jin. We will stand by your orders.¡± The technicians were in disbelief at how the board members had so casually agreed to Quan Jin¡¯s demands. Not one single objection from the board was heard. This chairman position¡ feels like I got it way too easily. She glanced at the board members. All of them had recognition and trust written on their faces. However, something felt out of place¡ The Chairman had not followed her to the IT department when she had left, five minutes before. The hallways were jammed by the number of higher-ups trying to get to her. ¡°Alright, please make way while I leave.¡± The technicians gaped at the sight of her leaving the office, She really is the boss. A line of people followed her out of the office as she left, leaving behind a bunch of stunned technicians who were completely mesmerized by her. When different things happen to different people, the results will never be the same. Quan Jin at the age of eleven was weak and useless, disappointing all of the higher-ups who had ever put their hopes in her. No one had realized that it was completely normal for people her age to have no achievement at all. She had been reduced to last in her class, barely getting a scholarship, from being the top scorer in her school. The better you were, the higher the expectations. Parents had to stop pitting their children against one another, and instead understand that they were still working hard, even though they had slowed down. The crisis had been resolved, but Quan Jin was surrounded. ¡°Jin, did you overexert your brain earlier?¡± ¡°Get out, you¡¯re the one who has overexerted! Jin, how have you been all these years? What¡¯s with that sudden change when you were ten?¡± ¡°Did someone try to harm you?!¡± Quan Jin remained silent. What should I do now that I¡¯ve shown off too much? The IT department was at the topmost level of the building, Quan Jin intended to take the elevator down from the twenty-first level, so that she could head home and prophesy that she would become a beautiful goddess. But all those higher-ups and elders¨Cthey would not listen! They squeezed into the elevator. ¡°Shut up, all of you shut up! So damn noisy.¡± Quan Jin suppressed the urge to kill someone, successfully scaring the people out of her way, all of them looking at her pitifully, feeling slightly wronged. Damn! What had she done wrong again? ¡°You¡¯ve changed, you¡¯re no longer our little Quan Jin!¡± Quan Jin marveled at the words. She was happy that she could finally spread her wings. Right, right, right! She really wasn¡¯t the same Quan Jin. They just had to let it go! She wanted to go home and become a princess. ¡°You used to call me uncle in the past and now you tell me to shut up. Our Quan Jin has become so harsh.¡± ¡°Don¡¯t worry, your second uncle here will not leave you behind, I shall take you home.¡± ¡°Third uncle loves you too.¡± ¡°Fourth uncle adores you.¡± Please die, all of you, please! The elevator descended slowly. It seemed like she was almost halfway down when suddenly the elevator stopped at the sixteenth floor with a ding. It stopped. But the doors never opened. ¡°Why did it stop when no one pressed for the sixteenth floor? Why are the doors not opening? They were serviced just a month ago, this shouldn¡¯t be happening.¡± ¡°Quick, call the maintenance crew!¡± ¡°Don¡¯t be scared, little Jin, I will protect you with this old life of mine.¡± Quan Jin was at a loss for words. ¡°Damn, there¡¯s no signal!¡± ¡°The communication line in the elevator seems to be broken too, what on Earth is happening? Are we going to be stuck here forever?¡± By then, the initial panic had turned into fear. Standing in the center of the elevator, Quan Jin glanced over all the expressions of everyone there. There was nothing suspicious at all. Suddenly, she looked up to the top right-hand corner of the elevator. It was almost as if she had felt something go by¡ Chapter 36 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio She stared directly at the surveillance camera flashing red. It had to be working. Who wanted to kill her? Right there in that lift, together with so many stakeholders and founding elders! ¡°What¡ what is that smell?¡± Everyone began coughing. ¡°The gas is coming from the air-conditioner. I can¡¯t breathe¡ Shit! Someone is trying to kill us!¡± ¡°Someone wants to kill¨C¡± Suddenly, everyone in the lift understood the situation. They all looked at Quan Jin, showing their concern and fear. However, Quan Jin did not even see it as a threat. She stepped forward and placed her hand on the gap of the two lift doors. They could all see her lips twitching. She was mouthing¡ open¡the door? Three seconds went by. Five seconds. The toxic gas started to permeate their lungs. Everyone in the lift was breaking out into cold sweat and turning pale. Their lives were in danger. Cough, cough¡ ¡°It¡¯s alright, Jin, stop trying. It¡¯s our fault that we insisted on having this meeting, which caused¨C¡± ¡°It¡¯s all uncle¡¯s fault, if the lift door could not be opened¨C¡± Suddenly¡ Ding dong! The warning sound cut them off. More than twenty of them suddenly looked up and witnessed the lift doors slowly open by themselves. They were speechless. Had the doors just opened? What was even more terrifying was that they had already reached the first floor. ¡°The lift doors opened? We¨Cwe are safe!¡± That was quick? They were stunned. Even seven years before, Quan Jin had only been good at business and medicine. She couldn¡¯t possibly have done that. There seemed to be nothing that she couldn¡¯t achieve. ¡°Go to the hospital, cleanse your lungs and stomach.¡± She stood outside the lift and commanded the senior officers who were screaming. Quan Jin then stared into the surveillance camera located at the top right-hand corner of the lift, and threatened, ¡°I forgot to remind you in the meeting room.¡± ¡°The Quan Jin that you knew seven years ago was only good at business and medicine. But the new me? There¡¯s nothing that I can¡¯t do! Nothing! The most highly secured Prison of Jiang awaits you tomorrow morning. Enjoy the time that you have left.¡± She turned away with her aggressive tone and scornful smile. No one could stop her from checking herself out in the mirror back home. All the senior officers and founding members almost dropped their jaws. ¡°Prison?¡± ¡°Jin, wait a minute.¡± ¡°Tell me, do you know who wants you dead?¡± The eldest founding member asked Quan Jin. They were all pressing on their suffocating chests and stared at Quan Jin¡¯s back. ¡°The one who wasn¡¯t here apparently!¡± She answered his question with determination, though she sounded like she couldn¡¯t be bothered anymore. Who wasn¡¯t there? Wasn¡¯t everybody there? They looked at one another confusedly and started to count the number of people present. The first and second founding elders¡ the chief financial officer, the deputy director¡ were all there. Who was the one¨C All of a sudden, their eyes opened wide. Everyone started at the direction that Quan Jin had left, finding it hard to believe. ¡°It was him!¡± ¡°How is that even possible? The¡ the one who wanted to kill her was¡ how could it be¨C¡± Chapter 37 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio It was her father! She had headed down to the Quan Corporation headquarters not only to gain some health points, but to also finally figure out who was trying to harm her. The trip hadn¡¯t been a waste of time as she had found out that her father was behind it all. After parking her car in the garage, Quan Jin headed toward her room. She stopped short as she overheard a heated conversation between some security officers by their office. ¡°Who made this news up?!¡± ¡°Mo Qingtian was the one who forced Miss Quan to give up her heart and she never agreed to it. How could he blame her? An Yunnuan was meant to die anyway.¡± ¡°Mo Qingtian and An Yunnuan are a disgrace! They even put the news online.¡± ¡°Now that everyone in Jiang is mesmerized by that bastard and that whore, they are all cursing at Miss Quan, calling her a home wrecker, and they still want her to donate her heart to An Yunnuan. It pisses me off.¡± Quan Jin was confused. She peeked into the office through a window, and she watched as they clenched their fists in anger. ¡°Donate my heart? What the hell? Who on Earth said that I was going to donate my heart?¡± Quan Jin asked cooly. Her voice sent chills down the spines of the officers. Quickly, a familiar security officer turned to greet her. ¡°Miss Quan, what are you doing here?¡± Still slightly shaken, he stuttered, ¡°Miss Quan¡ Y¨Cyou are back. Nothing, nothing at all. We were just gossiping about Mo and his bad taste.¡± ¡°Yeah, he¡¯s right.¡± ¡°Such an outstandingly intellectual beauty like Miss Quan is way out of his league. Right, Miss Quan, Mrs Quan is already back in the mansion.¡± Quan Jin was silent. Since they weren¡¯t going to say anything useful, she wasn¡¯t going to press them either. She had more important things to do, like fixing her face first. Quan Jin turned away and strode toward the mansion. She never cared for the worried look she got by the security officer who was following her. Only an hour before, the news of Quan Jin being a home wrecker who was willing to sacrifice her own heart to save An Yunnuan had broken out and rocked the entire city of Jiang! Just as Quan Jin arrived at the doorstep of the mansion, she heard a shaken female voice. ¡°I¡ I did not¡± She recognised the servant kneeling on the ground as the one who had told her about the emergency meeting not long before. ¡°Madam, I really did not talk to Miss Quan¨C¡± Mrs Quan lounged on the couch, a few bodyguards pinning the servant to the ground. ¡°You¡¯re never going to admit it, are you?¡± Mrs Quan¡¯s perfectly maintained demeanor twisted slightly as she threw a porcelain teacup at the servant, berated, ¡°What did you say to Quan Jin?! You thought no one saw you stopping her earlier? Traitor! The Quan family has been keeping you alive, not Quan Jin!¡± Chapter 38 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°The Quan family has been keeping you alive, not Quan Jin!¡± But the one who had brought them in was Quan Jin! It had nothing to do with the rest of the family¡ ¡°Madam, you¡¡± The servant didn¡¯t expect such words and was astounded, ¡°Miss Quan is part of the Quans. What¡what do you mean?¡± She didn¡¯t know why Mrs Quan was so agitated. She got mad and glanced ruthlessly across the living room, ¡°Do you all think what I said was inappropriate? Listen carefully! Quan Jin is just our daughter and she¡¯s no longer the heir of the Quan Corporation. She is not in charge anymore! Save your admiration for her! I am the one who controls everything, including your lives!¡± Upon hearing her words, all the servants were so scared that their minds went blank. She was no longer the heir? Had Mrs Quan just insinuated that Miss Quan had been removed from her position? Even though they knew that the day would come, they thought that they would be mentally prepared for it. Yet, they still felt devastated. ¡°No! that¡¯s impossible!¡± The restrained servant looked up, shaking her head, ¡°Miss Quan has promised me that she would do everything to stop this. Madam¡You¨Cyou are just kidding, right?¡± The maid didn¡¯t know that Quan Jin¡¯s mother was waiting for her to say this. Mrs Quan stood up from the sofa; she was wearing a light purple cheongsam, showing the fierceness gained from associating with the upper class. ¡°Do you still want to keep lying that you didn¡¯t approach her? You are just a servant! How dare you try to persuade Miss Quan to go to the meeting! Everything you eat, drink, and use belongs to the Quans! But you are not loyal to us! Security! Bring her contract to me and I¡¯ll terminate it! Do not step into our house ever again!¡± Terminate the contract? ¡°No! Miss Quan brought me in! Not you!¡± The servant was struggling to free herself from the security guards¡¯ restraint. She stared intensely at Quan Jin¡¯s mother and yelled, ¡°Miss Quan has brought the Quans into the upper class! She was the one who gave you such glory! Madam! What wrong has Miss Quan done that you want to kill her?¡± The rest of the servants knew that madam had done this as a warning to them. They were horrified but there was nothing that they could do. They couldn¡¯t tell what exactly they were feeling, but they were depressed. She was right. The famous Princess of the Quans was no longer capable enough to be in charge. The one who had the power was Mrs Quan. ¡°I gave her the guts to speak up. You have a problem with it?¡± Chapter 39 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio ¡°I gave her the guts to speak up. You have a problem with it?¡± Her loud voice blasted through the doorway. Unknowingly, Quan Jin had already walked to the center of the hall as she glared at Mrs Quan. Her mother trembled in fear. She took a step back in slight disbelief, staring at Quan Jin¡¯s familiar face as she blurted out, ¡°Qu..Quan Jin? You¨Cwhen did you arrive?¡± Why wasn¡¯t she informed by the security team? Right¡ she had almost forgotten that those security officers were only loyal to Quan Jin, not the Quan family, Master Quan, or herself! ¡°And why do you care?¡± Quan Jin was like a knight in shining armor in the eyes of the servant as she strode over to them. No! That wasn¡¯t how Quan Jin was supposed to behave. Mrs Quan was overwhelmed. That familiar aura, that same arrogance¡ in an instant, it felt as if the old Quan Jin was back. That was impossible! No one was able to create the antidote for the drugs they had been giving her! ¡°Qu..Quan Jin, that wasn¡¯t what I meant, I was just afraid something had happened to you. There are so many journalists trying to run you down, they would do anything to get to you. I¡¯m glad you¡¯re home now. V-very glad¡¡± Mrs Quan said with a forced smile, then going on to explain, ¡°This servant has no regard for seniority and respect. She even dared to persuade you to leave the compounds, I have no choice but to dismiss her for that.¡± Quan Jin was fidgeting with the car keys looped around her finger, completely disinterested in what Mrs Quan was saying. She avoided the bodyguards and walked to the stairwell, sweeping her eyes across the area, ¡°Did no one inform you that the chairman of the Quan Corporation and the master of this household have changed?¡± A sense of foreboding took over Mrs Quan¡¯s mind. Changed? ¡°What¨Cwhat do you mean it has changed?¡± Mrs Quan was stunned as her heartbeat accelerated. Quan Jin threw a glance at her mother, as if looking down on her. Under the nervous stares of the servant, the young lady standing at the bottom of the stairs looked down to read the time on her phone and answered blandly. ¡°Oh, as of forty-three minutes ago, the person in charge of both the company and the family has been changed to myself.¡± Chapter 40 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio The new Master of the Quans: Quan Jin. There was complete silence. Her mother was suddenly stunned, as if hit by lightning. She tried her best to support herself by grabbing onto the sofa, lining up to sit straight. The security guards were too shaken to keep the maid restrained. The servant, breaking free, looked up to Quan Jin and said, ¡°Miss Quan, you did it! I knew it! You will never let us down. Have you guys heard? Miss Quan has become the Master of the Quans!¡± ¡°Master Quan!¡± Quan¡¯s mother saw how the servants worshiped Quan Jin. She had never, in the past seven years, seen such expressions of reverence from them. She could feel their full allegiance as they bowed at Quan Jin. The servants completely trusted and respected her, and were only loyal to her. Everything was different! The Quans had changed! Quan Jin was thinking. Should she say, ¡®My beloved servants, as you were?¡¯ No, she shouldn¡¯t. ¡°Just forego all the formalities.¡± She did not pity Mrs Quan at all. Quan Jin commanded the security guard, ¡°Ask the vice-captain from the law enforcement department to come here tomorrow. Escort madam back to her room and lock her in.¡± She looked at her mother. ¡°By the way, the drugs that you have used on me to deteriorate my nervous system are not working anymore. If you wish to kill me, you have to try harder next time. Maybe insecticides could be a better choice.¡± Quan Jin had found out: the ones who had drugged her, attempted to assassinate her and wanted her dead so badly¡ were her own parents. All the senior officers and elders had worked hard for so many years to track down the leads, but they had found nothing. On the day of her own recovery, Quan Jin had cracked the case. ¡°Quan Jin¨Cyou¡ you have found out? I am sorry. I was wrong. Can you forgive¨C¡± Bang! Quan Jin turned away and slammed the door. She was not even bothered or wanted to listen to her explanations and excuses. Why did her parents want her dead? The vice-captain would give her an answer the following day. What she had done was not out of kindness, but for health points. She sat down in front of the dressing table and held the mirror with both her hands, staring at her own ugly face. Quan Jin took her phone out and took a few selfies. It was the first time in her life that she was this ugly. She wanted to record such an interesting moment. ¡°One health point is worth one day of life.¡± ¡°Should I do it for my face¡¡± Her right hand was pressing on the red threat. She looked at the medications on the table, thinking whether she should utilize one health point for the prophecy. She needed ten thousand billion health points to repair her soul. She should save them for it. She threw the mirror on the table. She had a severe expression as she talked to herself, ¡°It¡¯s just my appearance. I shouldn¡¯t be so shallow as to waste one health point just for this. Even though I am so disgustingly ugly¡ I shouldn¡¯t do it!¡± Time froze for a second. Two seconds. ¡°God says Quan Jin must regain her beauty¡± she said with determination. Quan Jin picked up the mirror again and she saw her same old ugly face. She waited. Nothing changed. She waited again. Still nothing. Her hideous face had not changed. She blamed society. If she did not have to blend in, would she even care so much about her appearance? No! She tried again. ¡°God says Quan Jin must regain her beauty.¡± Half a minute had passed and nothing had happened. Damn! Had she lost her power? In order to prove herself wrong, she was so annoyed that she walked to the window and looked out. She tried again. ¡°God says the An Corporation explodes now.¡± As soon as she finished speaking¡ Boom! Chapter 41 Translator: Larbre Studio Editor: Larbre Studio Boom! Jiang wasn¡¯t small per se, and the Ans were not living too close to the Quans either, but the sheer volume of the explosion ripped through the whole city. After that day, there would be an article crashing the internet: Major Explosion at An Corporation at 9: 33 PM. The Ans were bankrupt and had lost everything. Oddly enough, none of the workers working overtime and the residents in the area were severely affected by this incident; the worst injury sustained was a scab by a person falling from shock. The patrolling security officer witnessed the entire scene. He stared emptily in the direction of the Corporation, in utter disbelief. ¡°An Corporation¡ exploded? That¡¯s where the Ans are, right? It really exploded?¡± The officer could have sworn that he had seen Quan Jin standing by the window, looking in the direction of An Corporation, casually making a remark, saying that an explosion was about to happen. He thought nothing more of it, assuming she had just been cursing them out of anger after reading the online article about her. Little did he know¡ ¡°I must have misheard it. It¡¯s a coincidence. Just pure coincidence. How could her one liner actually set the An Corporation on fire, no, that¡¯s impossible,¡± the officer blabbered, as he watched the building go down in flames. A huge mushroom cloud formed above the site. That was ridiculous! On the other hand, Quan Jin was cooped up in her room, slightly unhappy with her decisions. ¡°Damn¡ I knew it! Three points! If I were to prophesy once more, I will¡ nevermind, I shall not curse myself.¡± She had just wasted three health points on that prophecy, being one step further from recuperating her soul. That was horrible. Quan Jin sat by her desk, left hand pressing onto the red thread around her right wrist, pondering for a full two minutes before finally releasing. ¡°It still hasn¡¯t disappeared. Left that place, left that body, but the curse hasn¡¯t left me yet.¡± Ever since Quan Jin could recall, there was one thing she had been sure of: her name was a curse. Quan Jin. Quan meant authority, while Jin meant cautious. She might have had all the authority in the world but had to be on her toes at all times. Since birth, her soul had been defective, she had heard that the person naming her didn¡¯t want peace to be upon her, thus conferring her all the powers she had, while forcing her to stay alert and live cautiously. Until her soul recovered, this ever-useful prophesying skill would not work on her. She got up to sit in front of her computer. The light from the screen reflected upon her face as she started typing away on her keyboard, entering a string of complicated codes into the device. Tap. Tap. Tap. The sound of her fingers hitting the keyboard filled the room. If the top three hackers of Hua were here watching her, they would absolutely freak out: the codes Quan Jin used weren¡¯t used in Hua, nor anywhere else in the world. They had come from a place whose name humans would tremble upon hearing, and that even world leaders were terrified of. Tap. Tap. Tap. She slammed the return key with her index finger and a mysterious website appeared on her computer screen. In the center was a sign-in box. [Please enter your password.] Quan Jin¡¯s eyes landed on the word username. She typed the letter W. A second later, Quan Jin had deleted whatever she had typed in the box, staring at the webpage. ¡°I can¡¯t go back now, not yet.¡± The place was impressive but elusive. Not more than one hundred candidates in the country were qualified enough to even have heard of this place, where people around the world poured all the money they had just to enter. She couldn¡¯t go back there. Quan Jin dragged the pointer and entered the sign-out password. However, just as she was about to click on the words and close the window, her laptop, as if bugged, showed a blue screen. The website had crashed? That shouldn¡¯t have happened! Had all their skills deteriorated after she had left? A small virus like that shouldn¡¯t have caused a blue screen. Quan Jin reached out to close her laptop. As it was about to shut, three rows of words flashed up on the screen. They weren¡¯t especially meaningful, but managed to catch Quan Jin¡¯s attention. [Regardless of time, place, country, or universe! You will always be the person we trust the most! And we will always be your strongest pillar of support!] [We belong to ****!] [We pledge our allegiance to you: W¡¤W FOREVER!] Chapter 42 - Skills That Shook The Country Once Again (1) [W¡¤W FOREVER!] W¡¤W¡ that was how they addressed someone from that mysterious place. ¡°Stays forever¡¡± Quan Jin did not close the webpage, still sitting in front of the computer. The lights from the monitor flashed in her face; it was a bit swollen but she still had very defined features. It was difficult to even find flaws. Who the hell wants to stay there forever? Don¡¯t come over looking for me! I¡¯m so annoyed by that group of idiots. Although Quan Jin referred to them as idiots, she didn¡¯t sound angry at all. She sat up straight, focusing back on the monitor, her fingers flying on the keyboard. The room was so quiet that she could only hear her typing sound. Tap. Tap. Tap. Reaching the search engine, she entered the keywords: [Government¡¯s Central Talent Training List of Hua] [The Quan Princess Seven Years Ago] Quan Jin was confused: there was no information available for what she had searched. She then keyed in a few strings of codes. In a second, countless information popped up on the webpage. The first one was: ¡°The Quan Princess is always qualified to be on the Central Talent Training list.¡± Quan Jin continued to hack into the authority¡¯s intranet. [Entered password.] [Password is correct.] ¡ª Quan Jin might not have even known that her excellent techniques had already alerted the entire hackers¡¯ network in the country. ¡°What the hell! Look!¡± ¡°Who owns this new private account?¡± ¡°This person hacked into the firewalls I set within a minute!¡± A few of the top-ranked hackers gathered at a computer and saw the ID breaking all their firewalls. Such techniques were both surprising and terrifying to them and to the country. ¡°No. Seven! Quick! Block this ID now!¡± ¡°Jesus, this ID is aggressively hacking in. Does it belong to one of our enemies? Are they trying to steal our classified information¨COh my god, quick! We need to defend!¡± The seventh highest-ranking hacker in the country was soaked in cold sweats. He was merely shocked at first, but after trying to defend the system from Quan Jin¡¯s invasion, he immediately realized how incapable he was against her incredible techniques. ¡°What the hell! I can¡¯t stop this! I wasn¡¯t even ready and it has already cracked all our passwords. Even our best hacker would not be able to stop this!¡± It went so far that even the seventh highest-ranking hacker in the country could do nothing about it? Everyone was stunned. After regaining their senses, they reported to their boss anxiously. ¡°We need to get in touch with the command centre! Quick! Our intranet was hacked!¡± Chapter 43 - Skills That Shook The Country Once Again (2) Quan Jin, who had previously shocked the hackers at the headquarters, was shaking her legs, bored, after successfully infiltrating the Central Government Agency. She stopped scrolling when she saw the Recruiting tab. Are they going to start recruiting in a month? What did it mean to be an apprentice with the central government? One would become part of the special forces protecting the people of the country right after graduation. The respect given to members of these special forces was sincere. They also couldn¡¯t reveal themselves and, if anything, the position sounded rather prestigious. She was a perfect fit for the position. Four points plus sixty-one points, plus another twenty-seven points, and subtracting the three points she had wasted¡ She recalculated it multiple times but there were only a total of eighty-nine. Why couldn¡¯t there be a few more? Her head was pounding. Knock, knock! Quan Jin looked through the peephole before unlocking the door. The butler quickly masked his slightly conflicted expression as he saw Quan Jin. ¡°Miss Quan.¡± ¡°What¡¯s the matter?¡± Quan Jin responded, staring straight at the butler. He was hiding something behind his back, with his head hanging low, as if something had happened and he didn¡¯t have the courage to tell her about it. Just as he sensed Quan Jin about to shut the door, he quickly stopped her, ¡°Miss Quan, there¡¯s an invitation for you.¡± ¡°So pass it to me, what¡¯s with the hesitation?¡± ¡°I¡ I want to show Miss Quan a report first. When you finish reading it, let me know if you will be accepting the invitation then, I hope you understand¡± said the butler with worry and apprehension. He proceeded to show Quan Jin the phone he had kept behind his back. There certainly was a report there. To be precise, it was an article that was released to the upper class of Jiang. Those who had access to it must have been at least second-tiered families. ¡°All right¡± Quan Jin retrieved the phone, eyes fixed on the screen. She followed the words flashed on the phone screen with her finger. ¡°Princess Quan Jin showed up at an engagement ceremony. For seven years, the princess of the Quans had been kept away from public eye not because they were afraid that she would be threatened, but because she had receded intellectually, going from a business genius to useless.¡± ¡°According to investigations, Quan Jin came in third-last in school, leaked confidential information of the Quans¡¯ bid, begged for the love of the Mo¡¯s young master and had become beyond hideous. The reason the Quans hadn¡¯t had any recent breakthrough, as well as for the rejection of the Hua¡¯s government scholarship programme, was because Quan Jin¡¯s ability had degraded. Even the An family humiliated her for her ugly appearance.¡± Humiliated. The word had been even enlarged and bolded. Chapter 44 - In A Month, You Will Be Begging On Your Knees(1) Humiliated. The word had been enlarged and bolded. For the previous seven years, because of Quan Jin¡¯s extraordinary talents in business, none of the noble families had dared to suppress or bully the Quans. They had chosen to make concessions for any conflict of interest. That piece of news, however, had just dropped a bomb on the upper class. If Quan Jin was no longer a threat, then all the upper-class families would prey on the Quan Corporation like hungry wolves. ¡°Miss Quan, you are not a loser!¡± Seeing that Quan Jin seemed not to care about such news, the butler felt worried for her. He couldn¡¯t help but comfort her, ¡°No matter how you look, you are always the most beautiful lady in the world to us.¡± He added, ¡°No one could compare to you.¡± Quan Jin was speechless: it was the saddest thing Quan Jin had ever heard. All right. She had to regain her beauty using the medications she got within the month. ¡°Give me the invitation card.¡± Quan Jin returned the phone to the housekeeper. She was sure that the card had come from those noble families. As expected, the dazzling card read, ¡°Miss Quan Jin, you are invited to the annual upper-class gathering.¡± Wasn¡¯t that equal to an invitation to The Last Supper? Looking down, Quan Jin noticed the date of the event. It was going to be in a month¡¯s time. The tenth day of the following month, at ten in the morning, the event would take place at the Emperor Hotel in Jiang. ¡°Miss Quan, are¡are you going? They will set you up to test the facticity of the news. Those families have been coveting the Quan Corporation for so long.. Miss Quan, do you want me to reject the invitation?¡± The butler was looking carefully at Quan Jin¡¯s face to read her emotions as he spoke. He was afraid that she would look upset. Did she look sad? No! She was beyond happy. Didn¡¯t those upper-class families just want to see whether she had become an ugly loser, so that they could be more assured to work with one another for the acquisition of the Quan Corporation? What a nice plan! Should she go? How about no. She didn¡¯t want to attend! She just wanted to earn her health points quietly rather than showing off at those superficial gatherings. Even if she were to be condemned or besieged, she wouldn¡¯t go! ¡°Yes, reject them. I could care less about the Quans¨Cerm.. the Quan Corporation will never be harmed as long as it¡¯s under my management!¡± Quan Jin almost verbalized her actual thoughts. After returning the invitation card, she turned to go back to her room. As she was closing the door however,, she suddenly thought of something and stopped to ask the butler, ¡°How about the government¡¯s Central Talent Training Programme? Do they still have a quota for me like seven years ago?¡± He looked shocked, guessing the reason why she had asked, ¡°Miss Quan, the government once said that Miss Quan¡¯s quota would always be reserved.¡± ¡°Oh.¡± Quan Jin nodded. She said something that shocked the butler once again, ¡°Give me the contact information of the authorities. Notify everyone in the house that I will be taking the recruitment test next month. ¡°I will resign from school effective from tomorrow.¡± What¡what? Miss Quan wanted to quit school and join the Central Talent Training? ¡°Miss Quan, do you¡do you really want to go? The recruitment tests are extremely difficult. If you don¡¯t pass, you will not be able to join anymore. And you only have one month¡¯s time to recover, this¡¡± was unbelievable. Although he knew that, according to the maid, Quan Jin had already recovered, it had been seven years. Even if she was as fit and intelligent as she had been before, to prepare for the recruitment tests within a month¡¯s time¡ If it had been someone else, the butler would have said it was impossible. ¡°Remember! From now on, there is nothing I cannot do.¡± Chapter 45 - In A Month, You Will Be Begging On Your Knees(2) Did he hear that? Miss Quan said that in the future, there would be nothing she couldn¡¯t do. The butler looked at Quan Jin, feeling slightly lost. He then replied respectfully, ¡°Yes, Miss Quan, the contact details of the Central Government Agency are in there.¡± Quan Jin took the phone and turned back into her room. She entered the account information into her computer. One of the contacts was indeed online. The chat was captioned [Hua Central Government Application Review.] Quan Jin proceeded to type. [I am Quan Jin] Those four words were not meant as a greeting but more of a statement. Ding! The reply came almost immediately. [Quan Jin of the famous Quans of Jiang? Hello there! May I know why you¡¯re looking for me?] [Is the position still available?] Upon receiving Quan Jin¡¯s message, the replies halted. She was sure that whoever was on the other end had already read her message. A minute passed. Then another. She waited a full five minutes until the notification bell rang again. Even through the computer screen, she could feel the amount of hate coming through the string of words. [I¡¯m sorry, Miss Quan. I¡¯m sure you know that times have changed and what the country needs now is a genius that would be competent enough to lead. Also, there are a limited number of spaces available for application. To be honest, Miss Quan, you have already been denied the position previously.] Quan Jin replied, [Oh, when did that happen?] The blunt reply came almost instantly. [Just about five minutes ago, your application has been denied, Miss Quan.] Five minutes before? It must have been when Quan Jin had sent her first message. No wonder they had taken so long to reply, they must have been preparing her application rejection notice. Ding! There were two new messages. Quan Jin rested her chin in her hands as she read the replies. [The Central Government Agency does not take in good-for-nothings and untalented students. I hope Miss Quan understands.] Understand?! Just as the upper-class had published the report, the Hua¡¯s central government must have received the news. For seven years, they had never once cancelled her position; now that it had been confirmed that she was no longer a valuable asset, they had abandoned her on the spot. Quan Jin¡¯s fingers landed on the keyboard once again, typing out her reply. [Just remember what you said. Have a backbone and don¡¯t come begging at my feet next month.] Chapter 46 - In A Month, You Will Be Begging On Your Knees(3) Begging at her feet? She was ridiculous. They replied, [It¡¯s good to be confident! But you must know that you have to be capable enough to be confident. Miss Quan, to be honest, judging from your capabilities now, not only would the Dean not come and beg you, you are not even qualified to be one of us.] Quan Jin felt too angry to reply immediately. She wanted to utilize the prophecy to shut them down! Damn it! No, she needed to save her health points for her soul recovery! Remember. Don¡¯t look down on the despondent, they might come back as even stronger individuals with immense power. Quan Jin was not being conceited. Confidence and enormous potential ran in her blood. ¡°Mr Butler, come in.¡± Quan Jin looked away from the computer. He hurried in when he heard what she said, ¡°Miss Quan, is there anything that I can do for you?¡± Quan Jin didn¡¯t reply immediately. She was scrolling through her phone. Right below the report that defamed the Quan Princess, there were hundreds of comments. [I was right there for the engagement party. Trust me, she is beyond ugly.] [Tsk, this report is finally out after so long. Screw that Quan Princess, they lost the bid to the An¡¯s by only $100,000. Quan Jin must have leaked that information.] [I wonder if she will accept the invitation.] [The invitation?] [Quan Jin had been hiding at home for seven years. Will she even show up for such a high class event to prove that she¡¯s not a loser? Save it! I say the Quan Corporation will close down in a month.] There were harsher comments: those were private accounts that could not be tracked down. There was one thing she was sure of¨Call the noble families had believed that Quan Jin was a loser. They were waiting to confirm their beliefs before proceeding with the acquisition of Quan Corporation. ¡°Miss Quan, what¡ are you looking at?¡± Quan Jin looked up and passed the phone to the butler, ¡°Go and spread the message that I will be attending the event.¡± The butler was stunned, ¡°Attending the event? Miss Quan, didn¡¯t you just decide to not go?¡± That was not just a simple gathering, but an excuse for the elites to test the waters. Quan Jin stood and lifted her head up. The natural light was shining on her face and her sparkling eyes. From that angle, he felt that Miss Quan looked even more dazzling compared to seven years before. Her long-lost nobleness and confidence were back, becoming even more impactful. Quan Jin knocked on the desk with her fingers and gave him a slight smile. Her tone was, as always, authoritative and confident. ¡°How can I not show up? If I don¡¯t, those fools won¡¯t be able to witness the central government begging on their knees for me to join them.¡± Chapter 47 - I Want Your Reputation Ruined(1) Staring blankly into Quan Jin¡¯s eyes, the butler felt slightly at a loss for words. Miss Quan Jin¡ that whole arrogant and assertive tone. It felt so familiar! The butler was almost brought to tears. ¡°Miss Quan Jin You¡¯ve recovered, you¡¯ve really recovered.¡± ¡°I thought¡I thought¨C¡± He thought everything the servant had told him wasn¡¯t true. From that moment, no matter what Quan Jin said, every servant, stakeholder, elder that was loyal to her would believe in her unconditionally, because she was Quan Jin! ¡ª Two days had passed. The butler had already told the vice-captain to arrest Mr and Mrs Quan the night before. In the meantime, Quan Jin was cooped up in her room trying to create the antidote. Early in the morning, Quan Jin, accompanied by the butler, drove to school. The speed at which the car travelled at made it a truly harrowing journey for the butler. Swoosh! The silver sports car came to a stop at the entrance of the institution. Many elites that had driven there in their luxurious cars, though those were pretty much a common sight. The better ones would have only cost a few million dollars maximum. ¡°Wh¨CWhat car is this? It¡¯s so cool! I don¡¯t think I¡¯ve ever seen one like this in Jiang, and the color of it¡ probably some rich kids transferring to our school today.¡± ¡°I know this car! It¡¯s a Bugatti Veyron, customized overseas. It¡¯s not even available in Hua.¡± Bugatti Veyron? Those who knew a thing or two about luxury cars were aware of the reputation of Bugatti overseas. It wasn¡¯t a car that could be custom-made with money alone. The owners had to be some powerful individuals. The door of the car opened. Quan Jin removed her keys as she got off, looking toward the pale butler, ¡°Hurry up, get out of the car!¡± The butler, still in shock from the journey, stuttered, ¡°Y¨Cyes Miss Quan. Miss, aren¡¯t we acting a little too high profile?¡± Quan Jin closed the door as she replied, ¡°If I¡¯m going to be held back just because of a few odd stares, I¡¯d rather not live that life.¡± The butler stared deeply at Quan Jin in awe and respect, more than he had ever done before. ¡°Quan Jin?! The peasant who was at An¡¯s beck and call? How could she be in such a car?¡± Some of the students looking at her car could recognize her. A regular person would always have an inferiority complex when meeting someone richer than them. The fifty-year-old man that alighted from the car looked quite charismatic while dressed in an expensive-looking customized suit. Quan Jin, on the other hand¡ ¡°Quan Jin, do you have no shame? An Yunnuan was hospitalized because of you, the An Corporation had just exploded yesterday and has now shut down. Yet, you still show up at school!¡± ¡°Typical of a homewrecker like her. With a face like hers, imagine the amount of work she had to put in just to become a sugar baby!¡± Have you ever experienced something like this? When you¡¯re known to others as a peasant and you alight such a luxurious car, the sheer number of eyes tearing at you, blatantly belittling you. If that were to happen to a man though, they¡¯d receive all the recognition and admiration from those people. A female alighting a luxurious car made her a sugar baby, while a man doing the same would mean success and nobility. Normalizing such deviance¡ that was blatant discrimination. ¡°Miss Quan¡¡± The butler would have never thought that Quan Jin had been leading such a life in school. He was visibly upset and slightly guilty as he muttered, ¡°You¡¯ve suffered. It is bold of them to speak like this to you, I will immediately call¨C¡± Quan Jin waved him off. She twirled her keys around her fingers and demanded, ¡°Those people who were just now barking like mad dogs, show yourselves!¡± Chapter 48 - I Want Your Reputation Ruined(2) The students scorned, ¡°What? You called us dogs? Aren¡¯t you just An¡¯s dog?¡± There were almost two hundred students. The one who had just spoken had been looking down on Quan Jin for a long time. She surely needed to jump at the opportunity to mock her, ¡°Oh, the pretty An Yunnuan¡¯s flunky is here. Everybody! Gather please! Come and take a look at the loser who lowers our average scores! Hello, uncle! You have to be careful. Quan Jin is a whore who¨C¡± Wham! The butler had run toward her and slapped her face, hard. ¡°Do you know who you are talking to? How dare you?!¡± The girl was startled, her eyes wide open. She covered the red side of her face. ¡°Quan Jin, just because what I said is true, you need your sugar daddy to stand up for you like that? What a coward! Don¡¯t you feel bad for messing with someone else¡¯s family?¡± What a bitch! In front of the crowd, Quan Jin slowly walked toward the girl as if it had nothing to do with her. She then raised her hand and slapped her continuously, ten times, without missing a single one. The security guard on duty was scared. After seeing her fancy sports car, he got a sense that she belonged to a noble family. He had then rushed to look for the principal¨Che didn¡¯t dare to stop her. Quan Jin¡¯s last slap was especially tough. The girl was hit to the ground. She couldn¡¯t hear anything, only some buzzing noises, her whole face red and swollen. The butler, standing by the side, finally realized what was happening. ¡°Miss Quan, you¨Cyou look so cool.¡± Quan Jin lifted her head. She stared at the crowd. What she said next completely stunned everyone: her words were too true to be questioned. ¡°What made you so insanely jealous?¡± Chapter 49 - I Want Your Reputation Ruined(3) ¡°What made you so insanely jealous? You learn so much in school. Knowledge, talents, ideals¡ did they not teach you how to carry yourself properly? The tongue has the power of life and death, don¡¯t you know that? How many people out there have been trampled over by your words and weren¡¯t able to fight back? You see a girl walking next to a rich man and you conclude that she must have been a sugar baby. Only when they take their lives to prove their innocence do you suddenly start to sympathize! Oh, it must¡¯ve been just a rumour then!¡± Every sentence coming out of Quan Jin¡¯s mouth drained a little more blood from the berated girl. Even the crowd surrounding them started to look at her differently. ¡°There are so many people in this world wrongly accused everyday, how many of them can actually pull through and make it out on the bright side? Show some appreciation and sincerity, and stop the hate and spite. Gain some good karma. Stop demeaning people with your tainted perspectives! How hard is it to stand up for someone when they haven¡¯t been proven guilty? Why be an accomplice in this murder? Trampling over those who are vulnerable must have really satisfied that inferiority complex of yours, right?¡± Right? Right! That¡¯s what the reality was. Quan Jin turned around sharply and shouted, ¡°And all of you here!¡± The crowd could have sworn that they hadn¡¯t and never would see anyone as outstanding as Quan Jin was. ¡°So polished and fancy! Is your materialism satisfied by that high-end branded outfit you¡¯re wearing, that lipstick you just bought and the phone you own? Think about your parents, who have worked all their lives just so they could provide for your materialistic needs. Would it kill you to earn your own money so that you can buy the things you want? Why squeeze them dry just to prove your richness? Once you get a rich boyfriend, you do around boasting about the expensive things he has just gotten for you. Those are not yours! To put it bluntly, you exchanged that with your own body! And you¡¯re proud of that, apparently. Do you have no self-respect?¡± Watching those students who had lost their dignity by constantly comparing themselves to others, Quan Jin could no longer hold her anger in and cursed them out, ¡°You all are just a bunch of useless fuckers!¡± Damn. That was a good one. Many of the students went pale as they looked at the expensive clothes they were wearing and gripped tightly onto the new phones they had just received. The butler watched Quan Jin in awe. He whispered in her ear, ¡°Miss Quan, you were so cool.¡± Quan Jin replied, ¡°Sometimes I get intimidated by my own charisma.¡± The butler was speechless. ¡°Whatever you just said will not change the fact that you¡¯re still a sugar baby! Now that the Ans are bankrupt, I don¡¯t see you helping them with the money you have earned from sleeping around.¡± The student had felt guilty at first, but seeing the butler exchange such intimate whispers with Quan Jin made her change her mind. Quan Jin was simply a peasant, there was no way she could be so close to this old fellow if he wasn¡¯t her sugar daddy. ¡°Make way everyone! Who¡¯s making all this noise?!¡± Right then, the Dean was rushing over with the security guard. The students gave way as the Dean approached the scene. He cut through the crowd and fixed his eyes on Quan Jin, who was in the middle of it all. ¡°Quan Jin? It¡¯s you again!¡± The Dean strided toward her, looking at the sports car behind her. He was slightly angry, ashamed, and embarrassed for her as he exclaimed, ¡°Why! Why are you so pathetic?!¡± Quan Jin was stunned and confused. Pathetic? She was flamboyant. The Dean looked at Quan Jin in disappointment. At this stage, all he could do was to turn this into a sob story to gain some pity for her. ¡°Quan Jin, I know that the Ans are bankrupt and you really want to help them. You had good intentions but becoming a sugar baby is just¨C¡± ¡°By the words of the Dean, Miss Quan must have been defamed quite often, hasn¡¯t she?¡± Chapter 50 - I Want Your Reputation Ruined(4) The butler stepped out. His presence alone shut the Dean up. Who was speaking? The Dean turned to the butler. The Dean knew him because the Quans¡¯ butler always showed up at elite events. He felt slightly nervous and said, ¡°Mister butler? It¡¯s our pleasure to have you here in our school! How can I help you?¡± The Dean¡¯s voice was trembling as he spoke. He worked for the Quans! He couldn¡¯t afford to offend the butler of the most noble family in Jiang. The butler scorned, ¡°If I hadn¡¯t showed up, I wouldn¡¯t have even known that our exalted Miss Quan was bullied in school.¡± ¡°Miss¡ Miss Quan?¡± The principal was confused. ¡°Is Miss Quan studying in our school?¡± Some of the students from the upper class looked surprised as they heard their conversation. The Quans? Could it be¡ that Miss Quan? Judging from the principal¡¯s attitude toward the butler, there was only one answer. The famous Quan Princess! ¡°You didn¡¯t even know that Miss Quan is studying here?¡± The butler put on a kind smile that made the principal more terrified. ¡°Now, listen! Those who thought I was her sugar daddy¡ªyou are wrong! She is the newly elected chairman of the Quan Corporation, the master of the Quan¡¯s, the noble Quan Princess of Jiang: Quan Jin!¡± Th chairman of the Quan Corporation! The master of the Quan¡¯s! The noble Quan Princess of Jiang: Quan Jin! Everyone¡¯s jaws dropped. They looked like they had been hit. They all looked at Quan Jin in disbelief. The Dean was apparently astounded, ¡°The Quan¨CQuan Princess¡The one who was appointed by the Central Government Agency for their talent training programme? She is Quan Jin?!¡± All of them looked shocked and horrified, finding it hard to believe. Quan Jin smiled, standing in the center of the scene. Staring arrogantly at the crowd, she commanded the butler, ¡°Go and find out who has slandered me just now and notify my lawyers to sue them all.¡± ¡°Yes, Miss Quan!¡± The housekeeper replied with respect. Quan Jin said with much contempt, ¡°The Quans don¡¯t require their reparations. I just want all of them to have criminal records!¡± Chapter 51 - It’s Her, She’s Back(1) To have a criminal record! Just as she was done, she turned around indifferently and entered the institution, leaving behind a bunch of wide-eyed students, trembling in fear, and a Dean who was unable to regain his composure. Damn! Now that they were going to be detained at the police station, they were finished. ¡ª On the other hand, a shockwave had been sent throughout the hacker community in the Capital. The top hackers in Hua had received shocking news the night before. ¡°Hua¡¯s intranet was successfully infiltrated around ten last night!¡± ¡°Damn, is that true?¡± ¡°What did you say? The hacker was a newbie? Are you kidding?¡± Everyone crowded around the seventh best hacker in the country. They looked at him with suspicion. He raised his voice and retorted in a serious tone, ¡°If you don¡¯t believe me you could ask those on duty last night, the level of her account was zero, level of experience was zero, total time spent online was only five minutes.¡± ¡°If it wasn¡¯t a newbie, what was it?!¡± This¡ Watching as he was slightly impressed by the mysterious hacker, the others felt their heads buzz and struggled to regain their composure. Since when did someone so scary come out of Hua? Breaking through the firewalls in a minute. Suddenly, footsteps could be heard entering the office. Tap. Tap. Tap. It was Hua¡¯s second best hacker, and the senior officer of the Cyber and IT department. ¡°Sir¡± ¡°Sir¡± He greeted them lightly before striding toward the seventh, asking, ¡°Didn¡¯t you say it was a newbie? How could they have infiltrated the intranet!¡± Right. While he was recognized for his skills, the seventh best hacker could not even hold a candle against the newbie. Could he have been orchestrating this all along? He lowered his head, looking slightly unwell, and finally said, with a defeated tone, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, I¡¯m too weak, I can¡¯t even compete with that hacker!¡± Oh my god! He actually¡ All the top hackers in the country have admitted their defeat¡ that meant that the account that had hacked into the government intranet was real! The senior officer was taken aback. His demeanor was more solemn than before, as he turned his hopes to the man standing behind him, ¡°Please help us, Number Two. I hope you¡¯ll be able to help Hua track down this account.¡± All eyes were on the man. Some were envious and some revered. The top three hackers were not bound to the country. They had higher status than a minister but were granted absolute freedom. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, it¡¯s just a newbie account, there shouldn¡¯t be any problems. Given me five minutes, I will absolutely dig this person out,¡± he said in confidence. Very quickly, he was typing away at the main computer. Tap. Tap. Tap. Five minutes passed. Ten minutes. He was breaking into cold sweat, the confidence he had slowly diminishing. At last, he was only able to find out the account username. Then¡ The following second, a loud bang could be heard as he fell off his chair. His pupil dilated as he stared at the words flashing on the screen. It felt like Grim Reaper had come knocking at his door. He stuttered in fear, ¡°It¡¯s W¡¤W!¡± Chapter 52 - Get Quan Jin Back Or Get Lost(1) ¡°What does W¡¤W mean?¡± The commander frowned. Everyone gathered in front of the monitor, looking at the name of the account, which showed two huge letters: W¡¤W Though it may have only looked like the repetition of letters, they could feel the power that came with it. ¡°It¡¯s that place!¡± The second best hacker replied with eyes wide open and lips trembling. That place? Which place? All the technicians and the officer looked at him with confusion. What kind of place would terrify the top ranked hacker in the country that way? And what did those letters mean? ¡°Officer, there is nothing I can do to solve this.¡± He stood up by supporting himself on the arm of the chair. cold sweat all over his forehead. He stared blankly and staggered out of the room as he said, ¡°Don¡¯t mess with her. Don¡¯t. You guys cannot afford it. Even the country! The government cannot afford to offend her.¡± Before he left the room, the officer called out for him, terrified by what he had just said, ¡°Wait a minute! If even you have trouble tracking them down, what if¡ she has already leaked the classified information of our country?¡± He stopped in his steps. He turned around, still looking petrified, ¡°No, you don¡¯t understand. None of you would understand. You don¡¯t know how scary that place is. If they really want to destroy Hua, all they need to do is say a few words. It was her¡ She is back!¡± The officer and the hackers felt unsettled. They all turned around and took a second look at the huge bolded letters on the monitor. They looked so simple, yet exorbitant. The officer knew that the hacker was not exaggerating. He believed that there must have been some solid facts behind his statement. ¡°Officer, what should we do now? Was he joking? How could someone possibly destroy a country with just a few words!? It was only a new, bluffing account¨C¡± The commander was having mixed feelings. He suddenly thought of something and said to the seventh place hacker in a serious tone, ¡°Seven, go and check where this account hacked into.¡± Quan Jin had not planned on hiding anything when she had done that. Therefore, the seventh hacker easily found out her history, ¡°Officer, she hacked into the webpage of the Central Government Agency. She then took a look at the information about their recruitment.¡± The commander was slightly surprised, ¡°The recruitment of the Central Government Agency? Anything else?¡± ¡°And¡¡± His fingers didn¡¯t stop hitting the keyboard, but he lifted his head up and said, dejectedly, after half a minute, ¡°Nothing more. I can¡¯t access the rest.¡± ¡°Checking the information about recruitment at ten o¡¯clock last night?¡± Those two pieces of information matched in the officer¡¯s mind. All of a sudden, he raised his head with a strict face, ¡°Go and check whether the Central Government Agency received any inquiries at ten last night. If there are, look this person up.¡± Tap. Tap. Tap. Everyone held breaths and focused on what the seventh hacker was doing. The room was completely silent, except for his nervous and accelerated breathing. Five minutes later, he pressed on the Enter key. ¡°Officer. The Central Government Agency had indeed received an inquiry about their recruitment. I couldn¡¯t locate the person. However¡¡± He looked at the screen and frowned, sounded a bit disgruntled, ¡°They¡ seem to have rejected her.¡± Chapter 53 - Get Quan Jin Back Or Get Lost (2) Rejected! She wanted to enter the central government agency? Those dumb fellas rejected such a genius like her? Did they want to make her an enemy of Hua? The officer went pale, quickly pulling out his phone to make a call to the central government. As soon as the call was connected, the officer suppressed his anger and said, ¡°I am from the Department of Informations, please connect me to the head of the Central Government Agency¡± In less than half a minute, a male voice could be heard through the phone, ¡°Hello, it¡¯s me.¡± Initially, the officer was able to suppress his emotions. Toward the end, however, he was almost yelling, ¡°I will inform the leader of Hua! I don¡¯t care how you¡¯re going to do it! Beg, kneel, whatever! Just make sure to bring back the person you had rejected yesterday to the central government! If it doesn¡¯t happen, you should prepare to be fired!¡± What just happened? Why would that person cause such havoc in Hua? ¡°Hold on!¡± The voice on the phone sounded confused as he asked, ¡°The person we rejected yesterday¡ what happened? Why do we need them back?¡± The officer let out an insulting laugh and replied, ¡°What happened? Go ask the headquarters yourself!¡± Listening as his tone got worse, the head of the central government could care less about his status, and retorted harshly, ¡°There are rules we have to follow, we don¡¯t recruit trash.¡± ¡°Trash?¡± The officer actually laughed out loud this time. He looked at the enlarged letters on his computer screen. W¡¤W Even without knowing what it meant, the officer was sure that if this person could scare even the country¡¯s second best hacker, their identity must have been beyond what they could¡¯ve expected. The officer wanted to let him know of the things the hacker had just said. He couldn¡¯t though, since it could reveal his identity. ¡°Is it not?¡± The head of the Central Government Agency asked once more as the senior officer had failed to reply earlier. ¡°Hmph! If this person, who was able to defeat the seventh and second best hackers, was what you called trash, then I really have nothing else to say!¡± He hung up rudely. Chapter 54 - Quan Jin Is Habitually Arrogant, The Agency Can Piss Off(1 He ended the call. All he could hear was the beeping tone of the line being dropped. The head of the agency was sitting with his back stiff in the office chair, stunned by the statement earlier. ¡°She defeated the second best hacker in the country?¡± He repeated what the officer had said and took a second look at his phone. He shook his head, ¡°No, that¡¯s impossible, how could she even? Hasn¡¯t she become completely useless these past few years? Does it mean that¡ the latest news about her is not true?¡± What if it really was a piece of fake news? Then, he wondered who hated Quan Jin so much that such a report had been released to the elites, so that all of them would work together to bring down the Quan Corporation. ¡°Assistant, meet me in my office now.¡± He was still in doubt, but at the same time he felt so nervous that he called the application review center, asking for the assistant who had talked to Quan Jin on that day. The assistant soon came knocking at his door and entered, speaking politely, ¡°What can I do for you, Sir?¡± ¡°Are you sure that there is something wrong with Quan Jin¡¯s IQ?¡± He asked the assistant directly. After listening to that question, the assistant felt slightly confused. He thought about it and tried to phrase it in the most honest way, ¡°I am sure. I checked on Quan Jin¡¯s academic results after reading the news. She has been the third last of the cohort for seven years in terms of academic performance.¡± The head of the agency squinted his eyes. Sometimes, one¡¯s academic performance doesn¡¯t necessarily reflect their talent and capability. He contemplated for a while, then spoke, ¡°Show me your conversation history with Quan Jin.¡± ¡°Yes, of course.¡± The assistant then took out his phone and passed to him after looking it up quickly. He took the phone and browsed through the record. Quan Jin once helped the Central Government Agency. That was the reason why he was in contact with her. He still remembered that the girl back then was full of arrogance and confidence, and surely admirable capability. ¡°Maybe the officer has been mistaken?¡± He murmured to himself. The chat seemed normal. There was nothing worth noticing. Suddenly, the head scrolled all the way to the end of the conversation and stopped at Quan Jin¡¯s last message. [Have a backbone and don¡¯t come begging at my feet next month!] The tone was familiar. It seemed very aggressive but ironically reasonable. He suddenly felt light-headed and dropped the phone on the ground with his lips quivering in fear. He then threw the file on his desk at the assistant, and screamed at him, ¡°Get lost! If you cannot get Quan Jin back for the recruitment next month, you are fired!¡± Chapter 55 - Quan Jin Is Habitually Arrogant, The Agency Can Piss Off(2 The sound came crashing like thunder. It was deafening. Quan Jin was entering the institution while the butler was completing the school withdrawal application when she heard from the Central Government Agency once again. Ding! A message popped up onto her phone screen as she walked into the dormitory. She pulled out her phone, unlocked it and opened up that message, with a nonchalance that no one else could have mastered. [From: Hua Central Government Agency Talent Review Miss Quan, are you perhaps available at this moment?] Quan Jin raised her eyebrows at the sight of this message. Huh. How were they suddenly so polite when all they had done was call her trash the night before? [Miss Quan, can we please speak to you?] Quan Jin only typed out two words, [Get lost.] Quan Jin had always been habitually arrogant, and she wasn¡¯t about to take the abuse she had been subjected to the night before again. While others may have given them a chance and possibly forgiven them, Quan Jin was like no other. Forgiveness did not exist in her book. Quan Jin tapped into the conversation and then clicked on the Block tab, while deleting their conversation as well. She had just blocked the Central Government Agency? The assistant who was trying to reach her was so furious that he slammed every document he had on the table. He was pissed! Quan Jin slipped her phone back into her pocket, ignoring the further requests coming from them. As class hadn¡¯t begun, there were still some people in the dorms. ¡°Quan Jin?¡± As soon as they heard the door open, her roommates turned to see Quan Jin entering the room. They were slightly at a loss for words, but managed to regain their composure soon after, crossing their arms and provoking her, ¡°Yo, look who¡¯s here? The dorm thief is back. Where did you hide the lipstick you have stolen? I will let you off and not spread the news of your theft if you give it back to me.¡± They were blocking her way, greed and mockery written on their faces. Quan Jin must have been too dumb in the past. They had been bullying her throughout highschool. The things she stole could only sell for a few thousand dollars, she had really let them go easily. Wham! Quan Jin grabbed them by their collars and pushed them aside. They were thrown to the ground, backs slamming against the bed frames. They were in so much pain that tears came rushing down their faces. ¡°Ouch!¡± ¡°Quan Jin! Are you crazy, how dare you hurt me like this?¡± ¡°Do you know who I am?¡± one of them stood up furiously, glaring at Quan Jin. Quan Jin didn¡¯t even spare them a glance. She started raiding the place for things that looked expensive and stuffed them in her bag. Both girls stared in shock, those were their prized designer collection brands! ¡°How dare you, this is our stuff!¡± ¡°I¡¯m going to call for help if you don¡¯t drop them and apologize now!¡± Watching as Quan Jin remained unbothered, they became angrier, yelling, ¡°Help! There¡¯s a thief in the dorms!¡± Quan Jin stuffed the stolen laptop into her bag, before lifting her head to stare at the two yelling girls, ¡°Do you actually know who I am, though?¡± Chapter 56 - Quan Jin Is Habitually Arrogant, The Agency Can Piss Off(3) ¡°Heh! Who could you be? You are just An Yunnuan¡¯s full-time doormat!¡± There were footsteps approaching. The girl smiled indifferently and looked at Quan Jin, ¡°Leave the computer and the rest of the stuff. If not, I will send you to jail. Quan Jin, you should know that my dad is a manager working at a well-known company. If you please me enough, I can make sure that you will have a stable job after you graduate.¡± The girl hadn¡¯t even finished talking that about twenty students gathered. ¡°Who was the thief?¡± Someone asked. ¡°Who still dares to steal things in school nowadays?!¡± The girl felt that Quan Jin looked down upon her like a noble swan, as if she was a big shot. She felt even more insulted and pointed directly at Quan Jin, ¡°She iss the thief! I walked in and saw her stealing my computer.¡± However, before the girl could dramatically recall what had happened, someone from the crowd suddenly spoke in shock, with his pupils contracted, ¡°Was¡ wasn¡¯t she the Quan Princess at the front gate just now?¡± ¡°Hi, Miss Quan Jin.¡± ¡°Hello, Miss Quan.¡± Those who had gathered around the scene had suddenly started greeting Quan Jin? The two girls were muddled and they couldn¡¯t believe what they just heard, ¡°What princess?! She is just a thief, who is also an orphan adopted by the An¡¯s. An Yunnuan told me in person! Stop lying to me, you guys!¡± A few of them had witnessed what had happened earlier. After they heard the girl¡¯s reckless words that just slandered the Quan Princess from the first noble Family in Jiang¡ Everyone stared at them with contempt and pity. Quan Jin zipped up the backpack and threw it over her shoulder. She walked up to the two of them and took out her phone. When she was unlocking it, she asked, ¡°You mentioned that your father is a manager? From which company?¡± Quan Jin¡¯s commanding tone finally made the girl realize that the Quan Jin in front of her was not timid anymore. She looked elite. She tried to hide her anxiety and panic, raised her voice and said, ¡°I didn¡¯t want to scare you off because my dad is the newly elected HR manager of the Quan Corporation! There is Quan Corporation¡¯s symbol on the laptop. Do you even deserve that? If you still don¡¯t want to admit that you stole it from me, I am going to call the police!¡± Call the police? Did she just threaten the Quan Princess that she would call the police to arrest her? Everyone laughed. ¡°How can someone become so stupid?¡± ¡°You shouldn¡¯t mock her. This was all because An Yunnuan was too good at faking it. Even we believed her for three years!¡± The two girls didn¡¯t know why, but they had a bad feeling that things had spiraled out of control. ¡°The HR manager from the Quan Corporation?¡± Quan Jin nodded at them and called the reception of the Quan Corporation right there and then. Someone on the other line picked up. She only spoke four words, ¡°This is Quan Jin.¡± ¡°Ah! Yes, chairman!¡± Chapter 57 - : I Get Whatever I Want (1) What?! She¡ She was the chairman?! Two girls felt as if they had just been hit by lightning. Their eyes were wide open and they were so scared that they had slipped down onto the floor. ¡°No, that¡¯s impossible¨C¡± ¡°This is fake, you guys are just acting¡¡± Quan Jin didn¡¯t care about their reactions anymore. She commanded, with a mighty tone, ¡°Notify the HR manager that from now on, he¡¯s no longer part of the company! Send a lawyer to the school now and make an inventory of the things that were stolen. Forward it to the HR manager. If I don¡¯t get a full refund within three days, we¡¯ll meet in court!¡± The person on the other end of the phone replied politely, ¡°Yes, Miss Quan!¡± Quan Jin hung up. She then threw her phone into the backpack and walked past the two confused girls, leaving the room as if nothing had happened. Oh. Before she left the dormitory, she turned around, ¡°If being a coward is the reason why you bully people, then starting from today I will show you my way of dealing with such things!¡± Her name entitled her to be that aggressive. ¡°Qu¨CQuan Jin is the chairman of the Quan Corporation?¡± ¡°No, no, how could it be?! An Yunnuan is such a bitch! Why would she lie to us?!¡± Why wouldn¡¯t she tell them that Quan Jin belonged to the noble Quans? The two girls had screwed up. They had offended the Quans in the city of Jiang and still accused her of being a thief¡ they would not dare to do so if they knew Quan Jin¡¯s shocking identity! How dare they! After Quan Jin left, they sat on the floor. They couldn¡¯t stop crying. Sometimes, continuous forbearance does not end in peace. When someone takes advantage of you, don¡¯t blame it on the rest of the world and whine about unfairness, but blame yourself for being so weak that you couldn¡¯t even fend off such people. If being strong does not provide one special treatment, then everyone would rather hide under protection. People have to learn to be powerful so that they can protect themselves. ¡ª ¡°Miss Quan, I am done with the signing the documents.¡± Once she had gone downstairs, she saw the butler waiting for her respectfully at the entrance of the building. Quan Jin threw the backpack to him. She covered her ugly face with a mask. ¡°Go back to the Quan¡¯s.¡± The butler took over the backpack and said, ¡°Sure, Miss Quan.¡± They had just left the school and Quan Jin was about to take out her car key, when a crowd of reporters suddenly rushed out and surrounded them within a few seconds. ¡°Miss Quan Jin! I heard that Miss An and Mr Mo broke up because of you. Miss An had a heart attack and her life will be in danger if she cannot have a heart transplant!¡± All the reporters pointed their microphones at Quan Jin: ¡°I heard that Miss Quan promised to donate her heart to Miss An, is that true?¡± Donating her heart?! The butler was furious. ¡°Which media do you represent?¡± The butler glared at them. The reporters were apparently well prepared. ¡°Miss Quan, please do not avoid our questions. Now, both the An and Quan Corporations went bankrupt.¡± ¡°Does Miss Quan feel at ease?¡± ¡°You promised to donate your heart to Miss An but apparently you have taken a step back. Miss Quan, Miss An got a heart attack because of you. Don¡¯t you think you need to bear some responsibilities?¡± Bear what kind of responsibilities?! Quan Jin looked up and took a glance at those reporters who thought they were righteous. ¡°Miss Quan.¡± The butler talked to Quan Jin softly, ¡°Do you want to go back first? Leave this with me.¡± Quan Jin raised her hand to refuse. Nobody had ever spoken to her with that tone in her entire life. Quan Jin stepped closer to them as she spoke with great charisma which made it even harder for the crowd to breathe. ¡°Yes, I did make that promise. Yes, I feel at ease. No, I don¡¯t bear any responsibilities. An Yunnuan deserves to die! I already answered your questions.¡± ¡°What can you do about it?!¡± Chapter 58 - I Get Whatever I Want (2) ¡°What can you do about it?!¡± The butler was stunned! He felt his blood pressure increase as Quan Jin spoke. Anyone who had never been blocked by a huge group of reporters and had to face their rude questions would find it hard to relate. But the arrogance and fearlessness on her face was so cool. ¡°Miss Quan! You will be condemned by society!¡± The reporters had not expected Quan Jin to give such replies. They didn¡¯t even know what other questions they could have asked anymore. ¡°Miss Quan, you have been hiding at home for a long time. But you chose to reveal your identity on the day that President Mo rejected the engagement?¡± ¡°Does Miss Quan feel that love is to be measured by social status?¡± ¡°Do you think that only someone who is part of the elite is compatible with President Mo, and that¡¯s why you insisted on stealing him from Miss An? What¡¯s worse, just because you are the heir of the Quans, could you just easily deny your commitment which has led to Miss An¡¯s fatal condition now?¡± Quan Jin wanted to laugh. The old her might be too afraid to face such attacks and got hooked into saying something wrong. But Quan Jin had become more powerful and scary than the Quan Princess seven years before. The ear-piercing noise of the microphone annoyed her. Quan Jin extended her right hand and yanked the wireless microphone from one of the reporters. ¡°Miss Quan?¡± The butler was stunned at Quan Jin¡¯s action. So was the reporter, who had just lost his microphone. Such great speed! The girl lined herself against the trunk of her sports car and then proceeded to jump on top of it. Everyone was astounded. Quan Jin looked down on the crowd and spoke through the microphone word by word, imposingly, ¡°Are you guys too affected by those brainless soap operas? How can you expect your partner to respect you if you have no decent social status, talent, capability or treasure? Love? Love is the one and only thing for people like you who only know how to depend on males or higher-ups to survive. And you will die without it! But to me! It¡¯s worth nothing!¡± It¡¯s worth nothing! How could someone say something like that with such a behoving and arrogant tone. Only she could do it. ¡°Am I even on the same level as President Mo?¡± ¡°Are all of you blind?¡± She stood on top of her silvery sports car. Her eyes were dazzling. She was wearing a mask and a black jacket, which she had not zipped up, and her style was simplistic and cool. Her hair was flowing on her shoulders. Quan Jin didn¡¯t sound angry, but she managed to shock everyone. ¡°I am Quan Jin, I do not need to be on the same level as anyone else! If your perseverance, independence, and excellence are your tools to be finally compatible with a man, then, girls, you have lost your dignity as women!¡± The reporters were astonished. Their heartbeats had accelerated for no reason, and they could feel something fluttering in their chests. But they couldn¡¯t back off, and had to dig further for some solid content. ¡°According to what you said, what you have done so far has nothing to do with President Mo?¡± ¡°Does Miss Quan just want to beautify her image by declaring that she is not the mistress?¡± Pfft! Quan Jin looked down on them. The way she looked at them, and her scornful smile, made them feel inferior. And then she asked a rhetorical question, ¡°Do you seriously think that I demand that? Do you think Mo Qiantian deserves my love? Do you think I look like one of those shameless bitches who require financial support from their beloved chairmen regardless of the price to pay? Do you think I need to fight for the things I demand? No! If I want something, I get it!¡± Chapter 59 - Miss Quan, Please Come To School (1) She could have easily obtained what she wanted. It would all be hers. ¡°Miss¡ Miss Quan!¡± The butler almost screamed at Quan Jin¡¯s words. What to do? What to do? There was no proper way to describe how cool his Miss Quan was! Quan Jin then dropped the microphone right beside the reporter. Everyone¡¯s heart stopped beating for a second. They were all stunned, not knowing what to do. There was complete silence outside her school. Everybody was staring at the girl on top of the sports car. She was shining bright, sparkling like a diamond under the sunlight. She gained one health point¡ Two points¡ Quan Jin then flipped and jumped down from the car. ¡°Whoever leaked the recordings without my permission will see my lawyer soon!¡± A She pulled the door open and entered the car. Swift and dashing. The butler quickly got in the car with her. She turned the steering wheel and looked again at the stunned reporters, accelerated, and left. ¡°Miss Quan, you were so extraordinary just now!¡± The butler tried his best to hide his excitement but his heartbeat kept accelerating, ¡°I bet those reporters have never been treated this way in their entire lives.¡± Quan Jin was not modest at all, ¡°I would have been afraid if I were to be attacked by someone like me.¡± ¡°However, Miss Quan,¡± The butler sat straight and spoke with a strict face, ¡°What if An Yunnuan really died because she doesn¡¯t receive a heart. The online media will surely condemn you for this.¡± There was a sharp turn ahead and Quan Jin turned the steering wheel fast. Her long hair fell on her face. She blew it away and said, ¡°You must remember that public voices can only destroy those who are weak. But who am I?¡± The butler replied, ¡°You are the master of the Quans!¡± And¡ also the head of a terrifying and mysterious organisation: W¡¤W! As the butler finished talking, a sports car suddenly appeared on the originally empty road, as they were taking a sharp turn. Looking at the model, the owner must have belonged to one of the upper-class families in the city. Quan Jin could have sworn she had seen that car somewhere before. ¡°Miss Quan, Miss Quan!¡± The butler had his eyes wide open, grabbing on the door of the car. His face turned white in horror, ¡°There is¡there is a car in front!¡± Emergency. The son of a noble family hit on his break immediately. At nearly two hundred meters, his car stopped. ¡°Are you insane?! Do you know how to drive a car? Can¡¯t you see there is a sharp turn¡!¡± he started scolding. He lifted his head. He was astounded to see the car to be a silvery grey Bugatti Veyron. Chapter 60 - Miss Quan, Please Come To School (2) ¡°Thank God, I found her!¡± The young man was so excited that he teared up. He had been waiting for her for so long at this junction and he had finally seen her again. He hurried out of the driver¡¯s seat. He then waved at Quan Jin and shouted, ¡°Hey! Stop your car! Let¡¯s discuss¨C¡± Quan Jin didn¡¯t even look at him. She pressed down on the accelerator and went around his car at the fastest speed possible. The young man was speechless. She seemed to be difficult to deal with. Luckily, he had seen her plate number. It hadn¡¯t been a waste of time. After confirming the plate number of the Bugatti Veyron, he went back to his car and rushed to the International Car Racing Centre. The young man repeated the number to himself. V587, V587! ¡°We will surely defeat the R country this time!¡± ¡ª Ten minutes later, Quan Jin and the butler arrived home. Quan Jin stood at the staircase outside her room and suddenly thought of something. She then talked to the butler, ¡°Find a website that uploads novels with better credits for me. I need it in half an hour.¡± Novel¡ website? Did Miss Quan want to become an online novel writer? The butler couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Miss Quan, do you want to become a¡ a writer? Do you¨Cdo you want to earn more money from it?¡± She already owned the Quan Corporation! Quan Jin was speechless at such a lame question. She thought that being a writer surrounded by reporters would earn her more health points. Being a writer did not require her to show her appearance and, at the same time, it sounded advanced and prestigious. It was easier to earn people¡¯s adoration and even worship so that she could gain more health points within a shorter period of time. ¡°I don¡¯t need money. I have more than enough.¡± Quan Jin said. The butler went silent. He felt attacked. Quan Jin went upstairs and before she closed the door, she said, ¡°Send it to my phone after you have found it and deal with the aftermath of the incidents that have happened over the past few days.¡± The butler was touched that Miss Quan trusted him so much. However, the fact was that Quan Jin did not even bother. After taking the medication again, Quan Jin looked at the mirror. She felt that she had grown taller and her skin had become fairer. Ding! She received a message. Quan Jin thought it was from the butler, but she was wrong. It was from the Central Government Agency again. She didn¡¯t know how the assistant had obtained her contact. [Miss Quan, the upper-class gathering will be held in Jiang next month, and I am sure that you are aware of that. All the noble families will attack the Quan Corporation. The only solution to that is that you join us and work for us. We will still recruit you if you are capable enough.] Quan Jin had chosen that time, when her secrets were exposed, to join the Central Government Agency. The assistant guessed that Quan Jin had done that because she wanted their help to escape the negativity. [The central government is planning on recruiting me?] Quan Jin typed. The assistant at the capital was thrilled after getting her reply, [The head of the agency was kind enough to accept you since you have made contributions to the agency before.] Tsk. Quan Jin spun her phone for a round and continued typing fast, [You will know how ridiculous you sound right now after the event. Nobody would be daring enough to steal my property. My capabilities will be made known to all. Screw your central government agency!]
