Vol 2 Chapter 122: Peeping into Destiny
“Not destined for it?”
Zhang Xuan shook his head. “What my future holds is not up to you to decide!”
“So, you don’t believe it... Don’t think that just because you’ve be a Destiny Master, you can truly control your own fate. You’re far from it.”
Seeing his defiant expression, the Source Hall Master let out a cold snort. “Since that’s the case, I’ll show you what fate truly means!”
Without further ado, the Source Hall Master made a swift motion with his hand, tearing a rift in space-time. Instantly, Zhang Xuan felt an overwhelming power enshroud his entire body.
The next moment, he was drawn into the rift.
Amid the dizzying disorientation, a pitch-ck void appeared before him, as though he had been plunged into the depths of the universe.
Just as Zhang Xuan was puzzling over why he had been brought here, a magnificent river surged into view, stretching across the cosmos. This river coursed from the heavens, flowing endlessly toward some unknown destination, its turbulent currents roaring with immense power, twisting space with its might.
“Is this... the true River of Destiny?” Zhang Xuan’s pupils contracted.
During a previous test, he had glimpsed a simted tributary of the River of Destiny created by Heaven’s Fate Energy. Butpared to whaty before him now, it was likeparing a puddle to the vast ocean. The disparity was iprehensible.
“Indeed, this is the true River of Destiny!”
The Sage of Space-Time suddenly appeared nearby and pointed forward. “Each of these rivers represents a unique destiny, embodying different lives.”
Zhang Xuan looked down and saw the river below, its countless streams converging, some vast and powerful, others slender and pure. From afar, the waters shimmered with a dazzling array of colors.
“An inexhaustible source of Heaven’s Fate Energy?” Zhang Xuan’s eyes lit up.
These streams were condensed from Heaven’s Fate Energy, with each drop containing billions of energy strands.
If he could enter and absorb the energy recklessly, he would neverck power again!
The Library of Heaven’s Path trembled violently, and his entire body instinctively opened up, attempting to absorb the energy.
However, momentster, Zhang Xuan frowned. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t absorb even a trace of the Heaven’s Fate Energy.
“Can’t absorb it, can you?”n/?/vel/b//in dot c//om
The Source Hall Master sneered, clearly aware of Zhang Xuan’s actions.
“You... How did you know?” Zhang Xuan was startled.
He had absorbed Heaven’s Fate Energy drawn by others countless times without detection. He hadn’t expected the Source Hall Master to notice so easily. The strength of such a powerful individual was terrifying.
“There is no destiny here that you’veprehended, so naturally, you cannot absorb it.”
The Source Hall Master waved his hand dismissively. “I’ll make you give up!”
Saying so, he grabbed Zhang Xuan once more. Zhang Xuan, unable to resist, was whisked along. In the blink of an eye, they traversed billions of miles and arrived at the headwaters of the River of Destiny.
Here, eight massive rivers converged, each resembling a cosmic star river, stretching endlessly.
The eight rivers flowed into a singr vortex, like countless stars copsing into a ck hole, radiating an awe-inspiring force.
At this ce, time and space seemed non-existent, leaving only a singrity.
Not even ordinary cultivators—perhaps not even Zhang Xuan himself—could resist the pull, instead sumbing to the current, unable to move freely.
This was the first threshold of the true River of Destiny.
The streams emanating from the vortex could form secondary Rivers of Destiny with ease.
The Source Hall Master halted and pointed at one of the streams. “This is the destiny I’veprehended, and the one your wife is about toprehend—the ‘Source.’ It is one of the eight great destinies of the Source World. Try absorbing its Heaven’s Fate Energy. If you seed, I’ll stop interfering with you.”
Zhang Xuan hesitated but attempted to absorb the energy, only to find that he couldn’t take in a single strand of energy.
His expression shifted as he observed the river before him.
The River of Source was formed by four tributaries, each surpassing any he had seen before, winding into the distance with an unknown origin.
“You can’t absorb it, can you? Withoutprehending the ‘Source,’ you cannot draw its energy.”
With another grab, the Source Hall Master whisked Zhang Xuan further upstream. Momentster, they arrived at thergest of the four tributaries.
Drawing closer, Zhang Xuan noticed a thin stream flowing from the void, connecting to the river, creating a convergence in destiny.
“This is... Luo Ruoxi’s destiny?” Zhang Xuan realized.
“Indeed, she hasprehended the Supreme Profundity of the Source, the only destiny capable of epassing three of the Source’s tributaries. If she seeds, she’ll undoubtedly be one of the strongest—something even I haven’t achieved.”
The Source Hall Master shook his head. “Although I’ve alsoprehended the Supreme Profundity, my limited talent has only allowed me to merge two tributaries so far.”
Zhang Xuan observed closely and saw that, near the vortex, two of the tributaries had merged, their immense power indistinguishable from one another. Luo Ruoxi’s stream was connected to one of these tributaries, appearing pitifully weak inparison.
“I can show you her fate if she doesn’t sever ties with you...”
Seeing Zhang Xuan’s speechless astonishment, the Source Hall Master waved his hand lightly, causing Zhang Xuan to descend into Luo Ruoxi’s river.
The stream wasn’t wide, and Zhang Xuan’s presence was like a rock blocking its flow. The smooth current was immediately disrupted, diverging away from the ‘Source.’
It was as if a mountain stream, initially flowing toward a great river, had been forcibly diverted into a dry field.
The Source Hall Master pressed down gently.
Zhang Xuan found himself helpless against the torrent. Overwhelmed by the endless waters, he was swept away.
“No—!”
After choking on a mouthful of water, Zhang Xuan struggled to escape, but his body shuddered, and he suddenly found himself in a small courtyard.
“Where is this?” Zhang Xuan was bewildered.
Wasn’t he just in the River of Destiny? How did he end up here in the blink of an eye?
Filled with confusion, Zhang Xuan walked toward the courtyard’s exit. After a few steps, the sound of chaos reached his ears.
Rounding a circr doorway, he saw an open area where sword and de shes filled the air. Numerous figures were locked inbat.
Zhang Xuan’s eyes swept across the scene, then suddenly froze.
In the chaos, Luo Ruoxi’s aura was in disarray, her hair disheveled, and her body covered in blood. She had clearly sustained severe injuries. Surrounding her were over ten ck-armored figures, their faces obscured, relentlessly attacking with swords.
St!
Unable to dodge in time, Luo Ruoxi was pierced through the chest by a de.
