Though calmer, Ste still instinctively wanted to refuse.
Sanford saw her hesitation and quickly added, “Don’t overthink it.

Exhausted by the day’s events and with an important meeting looming early the next morning, Ste knew Sanford well enough to realize he wouldn’t relent until he saw her safely home.

Once she spoke, she closed her eyes and leaned back to rx.
Sanford nced at her briefly and then quietly started the car.

Didn’t you go back together?”
