Chapter 0373

    ?

Afterst night''s events, Nichs did not try to stop me from leaving anymore. I left for my business trip early the next morning. I had also extended the trip from three days to a week.

Because of the extended schedule, Dous wanted to apany me, but I refused. He had already helped me acquire some Hawk Corporation shares and was contacting small shareholders. He could not afford to leave Radiant City.

I was still handling a small case, but I moved my time for reviewing documents to the hotel. On the third day, I received a message from Nichs asking if I wasing home today and offering to pick me up at the airport.

I smiled as I held my phone. I wondered if he was again promising his father to get me pregnant soon while pretending to care about me. That was why he urged me toe home quickly.

He had not even seen me off when I left. He did not even step out the door, so what was this about picking me up?

I put the phone in my pocket and pretended not to see it. Actually, I was only supposed to meet the client tomorrow based on my original schedule.

Since I did not want to stay at Coral Vi, I left early. After all the preparations were done, I had more time to explore the local area.

I wandered to the foot of a famous local church. From afar, I could see its red walls and yellow tiles, exuding an ancient charm. But people normally came here to pray for marriage and children, so I should not be here.

Just as I was about to leave, an olddy doing tarot reading by the wall grabbed my hand. She spoke in a dialect I could not understand and would asionally utter simple blessings. Seeing her kind smile, I willingly paid her 30 dors.

I did not believe in such things, so it did not matter what she said. When I graduated from high school, I had secretly gone to the Oasis Church. I had lit up some candles and sincerely prayed to the gods. But now, things were so cold between Nichs and me.

After our marriage, I had mentioned to him once about going to Oasis Church together to fulfill a vow, but he had justughed it off. He probably long forgot about it. Perhaps the gods were actually angry at me.

The olddy stuffed a charm into my hand. Not wanting to disappoint her, I sped my hands and closed my eyes reverently toward the church. But my mind was nk. I had no idea what to ask the gods to bless me with. The air in this seaside city was damp and cold. I sniffled and hurried back to the hotel.

As I entered, I received a call from Yasmine before I could take off my coat. She was furious on the phone as she scolded me.

It turned out that a photo of me praying with closed eyes in front of the church had been posted online.

In the photo, I had long ck hair and wore a white woolen coat. Without many essories, I looked sincere as I prayed there, especially with the charm hanging from my palm. No wonder Yasmine misunderstood and thought that I was praying for marriage again.

With the final episode of the variety show aired, plus the news of Nichs rescuing people barehanded from a fire, he now had a solid image of a loving husband. So, online, there was a unified guess about my appearance here. They thought I must have been praying for a child.

Having been married for nearly five years without children, voices of pity for me increased online. The inte seemed to have no memory. Everyone seemed to forget that I had long divorced Nichs.

The next day, I met with the client, who was ady in her 50s. Although she was neatly dressed, she looked dispirited.

Her husband had passed away, and she had been caring for her mother-inw alone for 15 years. Now ill herself, shecked the energy to continue caring for the elderly woman and wanted her daughter to take her, but the oldTêxt ? N?velDrama.Org.

Thedy was very grateful to me. She said otherwyers would charge thousands upfront, but I did not take a penny as I was doing it purely as charity. She said their local specialty was beer and insisted I visit their beer music festival before leaving. She gave me a ticket for the next day.

I did not want to go back and face Nichs anyway, so I epted the ticket. But when I arrived at the music festival, it was different from the passionate,rge-scale dance party I had imagined.

A piano was ced at the center of the stage, and the man I was trying to avoid actually went on stage and sat at the piano. As his fingers lightly touched the keys, a piano piecepletely different from the festival''s style began to y.

Though he wore a mask, I recognized him instantly.
