Chapter 656

Lizzy was genuinely thrilled for Nathalie. "Sis, Mr. Lincoln is the best gift the master ever left you."

Nathalie felt a sudden sting in her heart, like a needle piercing through. Nathan had be someone she couldn''t bring herself to think about, someone whose mere thought would cut her to the bone.

"Lizzy, please tell me more about Nathan. I love hearing about him," she begged.

She envied Lizzy and FordDominick so much now, for they shared secrets with Nathan that she never even knew existed.

Understanding her sister''s longing, Lizzy began sharing everything she knew. "The master actually tracked down Mr. Lincoln''s whereabouts years ago. But back then, he''d been on medication for so long that his organs were failing. Doctors didn''t think he''dst much longer."

She paused, taking a deep breath before going on. "All the hospital experts had decided to give up on him. But after a night of wrestling with the decision, the master made a surprising choice. He dered he''d develop a special medicine himself. The hospital had to keep Mr. Lincoln alive no matter what. The master poured his heart into biopharmaceuticals, and just recently, the special medicine was finally created. He was over the moon when he heard the news."

"I remember he said, ''Atst, someone to love Nathalie in my stead.""

Nathalie couldn''t hold back any longer; she broke down, covering her face, sobbing her heart out.

Lizzy quickly apologized, "Oh no, sis, it''s my fault for bringing it up again."

Through her tears, Nathalie managed to say, "Lizzy, you did the right thing. I always knew Nathan cared for me, looked after me, but I never realized how much I truly meant to him."

Her face clouded with regret. "I''m so sorry I didn''t see his heart sooner. If I''d known I was his whole world, I would have spent more time with him. I shouldn''t have brought Nina or Miranda into his life. I shouldn''t have spread my already thin love around. I should have loved him with everything I had."

Lizzy tried tofort her, "Sis, don''t be sad. If the master knew his leaving hurt you this much, he wouldn''t find peace."

Nathalie wiped her tears. "You''re right. I need to live happily. That''s the only way he''ll be at peace."

Lizzy drove steadily toward the estate.

    At the prison.

That day, a high-ranking official made an unexpected visit.

"I want to see thetest detainee you''ve got," the officer demanded.

"Sir, he''s a bit of a loner, not much of a talker. We''ve tried questioning him many times, and he either ms up or hits back with such sharp retorts that we''re left speechless. Since the McCoy family abandoned him and he''s got no close rtives, he''s be quite withdrawn and seems to have lost interest in life. None of our offers seem to matter to him."

"You tried bribing him?" the officer asked, eyebrows raised.

The subordinate quickly exined, "We thought he was an exceptional talent,

worth recruiting. But nothing we offered worked, so we had to let it go."

The officer probed, "What exactly did you offer him?"

The subordinate replied, "We promised better meals, regr medical checkups, even a reduced

sentence if he''d help manage the inmates. But he wouldn''t budge."

The officer sighed, "It''s not surprising he''s feeling down after just arriving.here. But you''re right, he''s quite the talent. Make sure you take good

good care of him. We need him here for solving cases, which would

probably be a walk in the park for him."
