    Eliza''s smile grew even wider. She was like a flower blooming in the desert-radiant, defiant, yet seemingly on the verge of copse. She didn''t say a word, but her smile seemed to say it all.


    He mmed on the brakes, turned the steering wheel sharply, and pulled the car over to the side of the road. The quiet space inside the car was thick with tension.


    "What are you smiling at?" he demanded.

    He chuckled lightly, his face filled with mockery. "He''s not going to release your brother that easily."
