“Oh, done already? I was hoping to see more.”

Someone had entered the room and watched over us while I was opening packs with Alice. I was perhaps a bit too focused on it, so I didn’t notice.

“Why didn’t you say anything when you came in?” I asked the intruder.

“And have you instantly hidden that skill of yours? No. I’d rather see more.” Paulina answered.

Yes. The one that intruded my pack opening time was Paulina, the youngest sister of Christina. Actually, when did shee in?

(Laura, why didn’t you say anything?)

(I didn’t think it was necessary. You already showed your status to her and you have been more than willing to show Pack Opener to others.) Laura said.

(True, but you still could have said something. When did she evene in?)

(Just after you changed sets to Legacy of Darkness.) Laura answered.

(Oh, around mid-point of the opening.) I changed to Legacy at pack 13 of 21 packs.

“But I have to say, I didn’t expect your unique skill to be a system skill.” Paulinamented.

“... okay.” I don’t know how to react to that. Not that I even really know what a system skill is. Probably something that can open a system window, but I’m not sure.

“Do you mind if I ask some questions about it?” Paulina asked.

    “Don’t bother Brian.” Alice said.

“That’s why I asked.” Paulina said.

“But we were busy. Brian was about to use some cards on me.” Alice said.

“Oh. So these are the cards, huh.” Paulina said. “Perhaps you could give me one? For research, you know.”

“No. I’m the one that does research with Brian.” Alice argued.

Do you? I don’t recall any research we have made. Well, I guess there is the effectiveness of the installed Mystic sma Zone. And perhaps the install of Book of Secret Arts onto Dark Magician Girl. Or perhaps the ritual and fusion summons I did with Alice and Lua.

“Well, if that is too much, could you at least show me how they work? I could just be an observer.” Paulina said.

“Sure. I don’t mind.” I answered. Getting another point of view into this might be helpful after all.

“Yes. Then show me. Please.” Paulina said.

“... not here I won’t. Unless you want to exin to your big sis why we blew up her study.” I said to Paulina. As fun as it would be, I’d rather not cause a giant mess. Not that I for sure would, but the possibility is always there.

“This way.” Paulina said, as she was leading us along.

After I agreed to let her observe our experiments, she said she would take us to her usual experiment ce.

“Where are we going?” Alice asked.

“To the training field. It’s just over there.” Paulina answered, pointing at an area with separate walls.

“Oh. I didn’t think about this part. It’s already taken.” Paulina said as we reached the training grounds and saw a few people there.

Jonathan, Angelina’s son, was in the training grounds, shooting fire spells at some targets. So he uses fire magic. Interesting that a child born in primarily earth magic using family, uses fire. Well, I guess Paulina should be able to use water magic and earth magic, so having someone use fire isn’t that strange.

“Lady Paulina, did you need something?” A maid that was watching over Jonathan’s training. She was right around 20, I’d say, so perhaps she is Jonathan’s personal maid or something.

“We were going to use the training grounds, but it appears that it is taken, so we can go somewhere else.” Paulina said.

“No, that won’t be necessary. Jonathan’s ss is almost over for the day, so if you wait a few minutes, the training grounds will be free to use.” The maid said.

“I see. Then it will be better to just wait.” Paulina said. “It will take us longer to get to another ce.”

(Laura, I’ll need some sleeves and toploaders, so would you please take care of that.) I asked Laura.

    (Yes Master.) She simply responded.

9x Misairuzame, 9x Mystical Moon, 7x Darkworld Thorns, 4x Fissure, 7x Dragon Treasure, 6x Rivalry of Warlords, 3x Amazoness Fighter, 6x Drooling Lizard, 6x Mysterious Guard, 5x Steel Ogre Grotto #1, 6x Throwstone Unit, 5x Fairy Box, 5x Fushi No Tori, 5x Kelbek, 4x Lesser Dragon, 5x Ninjitsu Art of Decoy, 5x Spike Seadra, 4x Spiritual Energy Settle Machine, 5x The Spell Absorbing Life, 4x Burst Breath, 4x Chosen One, 3x Contract with Exodia, 4x Enraged Muka Muka, 4x Exhausting Spell, 4x Life Absorbing Machine, 3x Metal Dragon, 3x Super Roboyarou, 4x The Shallow Grave, 4x Tornado Wall, 3x Archfiend''s Oath, 3x Armored Starfish, 3x Big Wave Small Wave, 3x Cave Dragon, Curse of the Masked Beast

150 cards to get rid of. That is a lot, but it''s just enough to get a toploader for each of the six Level ups. Well, I wasn’t going to use all of them for the Level ups, as I had something else I wanted to try first.

Lighten the Load, to be specific.

With it, I can sacrifice a level 7 or higher monster for a pack token. [Reminder. Pack tokens and daily tokens are not the same thing.] And with Emblem, I could get a level 7 Buster der every day. That’s at least one more pack each day.

As I stood at the edge of the training grounds, I activated the Lighten the Load I had thrown a sleeve and a toploader onto.

A system window appeared before me.

Oh. So it has a limit of four per activation. Interesting.

Well, four more pack tokens will be good. But I will need four level 7 monsters for that.

After a quick search through my collection, I pulled out 3 copies of Maju Garzett and one Buster der. I probably will never use the Maju Garzett, so I don’t need it. (and it ismon in Dark Crisis and Dark Revtion Volume 1.) And as I said earlier, I can get a new Buster every day. I should open more Magician’s Force so I have a second copy of Emblem. And DR1 as it is also there.

I inserted the four level 7 monsters into the system screen and the window changed.

“You just used one and didn’t even tell me.” Paulina said, as she realized what I just did.

“... So what? It’s my skill so I use it when I want to.” I said.

“Research. I can’t do it if you don’t give me a chance.” Paulina said.

“I already do that with Laura.” I said.

“Laura? Oh yes. I see.” Paulina said, seemingly recalling the short conversation we had about the name of my system support. “But still, perhaps you could use another one for me?” She requested.

Hmm. Should I? What would I use?

(How about Good Goblin Housekeeping? You could use it to change some pack tokens for some reprint tokens. And as the reprint sets have more cards per pack, it might be worth it.) Laura said. [Sure. Get mad because of how I tranted Good Goblin Housekeeping into the series. I just wanted it to do something fun that doesn’t step on the toes of Pot of Greed or Jar of Greed.]

(Oh. Not a bad idea. That way I can get some DR1 packs.) I agreed with Laura’s suggestion.

“Sure, I can show you one.” I said as I pulled out the Good Goblin Housekeeping that Laura had thrown a sleeve and a toploader on. “Good Goblin Housekeeping.” I said to activate the card. After I did, a booklet with a pen appeared in my hand.

“Did that thing just make a booklet?” Paulina asked.

“Seems like it.” I answered, before opening the booklet.

It only had one spread. On one side of the spread appeared my normal tokens and on the other were my reprint tokens.

… okay? So, do I just correct the numbers and close the book? Let’s try it.

I took the pen that came with the booklet and got ready to adjust the books. Hmm. I should probably first erase the 4 and the 0, as I want to reverse them. I wonder if I can just…

I flipped the pen around and used the end cap like an eraser on a pencil. It seemed to work, as the 4 after the pack tokens and the 0 after the reprint tokens disappeared.

Then I flipped the pen around and changed the numbers.

So with that, I should be able to transform the normal tokens into reprint tokens.

I was about to close the booklet when Laura said: (You might want to move a daily pack token into the daily reprint tokens as well. The reprint packs do have more cards per token, so they are more powerful that normal pack tokens.)

(Oh. Good point. I’ll do that.) I agreed and adjusted the numbers one more time.

I think that should do it. I closed the booklet and after I did, it disappeared from my hand, leaving the now grayed out Good Goblin Housekeeping in its ce.

“... what did you do?” Paulina asked.

“I used a card. Like you asked me to.” I said back.

“But you did something with that booklet. Then you closed it and it disappeared. What happened?” Paulina asked.

“It’s just managing my skill.” I answered. I don’t have to exin how the tokens work, so I won’t.

“... does that mean that you used one of those ‘cards’ to influence the system?” Paulina asked carefully.

“Not really. It only has an influence on my skill.” I answered.

“But that skill is a system skill, right?” She asked.

“Yeah, I don’t know what a ‘system skill’ is. As in what is the difference between a system skill and a normal skill.” I said.

“A system skill can open a system window.” Paulina said.

I thought that might be the case, but I wasn’tpletely sure, so thanks for the confirmation.

“Then I guess my skill is a system skill. But that doesn’t mean I can influence the system with it.” I said. Well, I guess in a way I can. At least on an individual level. Installing a card into a person will influence the system inside of that person. I think. Or at least it can raise their status and the status is a part of the system. I still don’t think it has an effect on the wider system as a whole, but individually yes.

“Ah. I think I got it. So you can use these cards to influence your own system skill. I see, I see.” Paulina said. I honestly expected her to pull out a notebook and write it down, like Alice often does.

Now, since I have four more reprint tokens, let’s quickly pull them open. And I think DR1 is back on the menu. For more copies of Emblem of Dragon Destroyer. And perhaps an X-Head Cannon.

“Mr. Brian. Did youe here to summon that orc for me?” Jonathan asked, after he ended his practice.

“Didn’t your mother say no to that?” I asked.

“Well she did, but she doesn’t need to know.” Jonathan said. “Would you please summon an orc for me to fight?”

“... I think going against your mother like that is not a good idea.” I said to Jonathan. “But as she only banned fighting an orc, something else should be fine, right?”

“Yes. Would you, please?” Jonathan asked.

Now, what to summon? I looked through my collection. Considering his skills, I shouldn’t summon a level 1 monster, as that will probably be too much of a joke. But a level 4 like Giant Orc is too much.

Oh. This will do. A level two fiend with 700 attack and defense. I would actually use an Ojama, but I’ve sacrificed all of them, except for the Ojama Trio that I just got.

“Winged Minion.” I said to summon my monster.
