"What do you mean they are dead?" General Sun asked loudly, his face filled with shock and confusion.
The battle had not evensted ten minutes—how could twenty thousand soldiers have died just like that?
"Impossible!" he shook his head vehemently.
It wasn''t only General Sun who found this impossible to believe; all themanders couldn''t dare to believe their eyes.
However, when they saw the seriousness on the recon team leader''s face, they started to take the news seriously.
"Are you serious?" amander asked.
"I won''t dare lie to you, sir," the recon team leader responded.
General Sun still didn''t believe him and sent two of his trustedmanders to check it out.
Whoosh!
The twomanders rode their steeds quickly and disappeared into the distance.
Tension hung in the air, and all themanders had various expressions shing across their faces.
Just as everyone was wondering how true the news was, the twomanders rushed back with stunned expressions on their faces.
"General, it''s true," one of themanders reported, his face etched with shock and confusion.
For a couple of seconds, General Sun didn''t utter a word. He was trying to wrap his head around what had just happened.
Looking at the General contemting what to do, the twomanders exchanged a subtle nce and nodded.
"General, the enemies are closing in on us as we speak. What is your order?" the secondmander asked.
Even though the news about the death of twenty thousand cavalry in less than ten minutes had never happened before, they couldn''t dwell on it too much.
They needed to act fast if they wanted to defeat their enemies.
"Send the Green cavalry unit," General Sunmanded.
Instantly, the order was ryed, and immediately twenty thousand powerful soldiers rode their steeds toward the horizon.
Themander of the Green cavalry unit had a solemn expression on his face.
His unit was much stronger than the Blue units, but still, he didn''t dare underestimate his enemies.
As the Green Unit cavalry rode to the edge of the high in, they saw the iing Celestial Forte cavalry riding toward them at an rming speed, leaving dust in their wake.
"Maintain your formation. Don''t let the enemies break through," the Green unitmander said with a solemn voice.
The sound of horse hooves reverberated in the sky as the two sides rode toward each other, weapons drawn and ready to take the lives of their enemies.
As usual, the firstmander had his gaze fixed on the Green Unitmander.
Just as the two sides were about to collide, the Celestial Forte First to Fifthmanders jumped into the sky.
"It is going to happen again!" their men shouted in their minds, filled with pride.
Watching the deadly iing sword light, the Green Unit Commander was stunned.
His instinct screamed of imminent danger, but his body failed to respond to the call to jump off the horse.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A deafening sound echoed on the battlefield, with clouds of dust rising to the sky.
As for the Green Unitmander, he had long met his maker.
With the chaos caused by the fivemanders, the Green Unit, without their leader, was rendered useless.
Even though they were stronger than the previous Blue unit, to the fivemanders, there was no difference.
"Nine minutes!" the First Commander shouted.
And behold, the battle was over in just nine minutes, a littleter than the Blue Unit.
This time around, instead of the Celestial Forte Cavalry continuing their charge, they stopped without leaving their spot.
Meanwhile, on the Governor''s army side, the tension was palpable. Even the weakest soldiers knew something was amiss.
After a couple of minutes, the recon team appeared in the distance on their horses as they rode toward the army.
"General!" the recon team leader saluted.
"Tell me quickly," General Sun demanded impatiently.
"They are all dead!" he said in a low voice.
Gasps escaped from the mouths of the soldiers behind General Sun.
What the hell was happening? They screamed in their minds.
Their men were not ordinary mortals who could easily be vanquished by the enemies.
They were all cultivators.
The lowest among them had the cultivation of the Body Building Realm stage 3.
"Do you see how they kill our men?" General Sun asked.
"Yes. There are fivemanders leading the charge, but these fivemanders are unlike anymanders we''ve ever seen."
"Fivemanders?" General Sun muttered.
"What is their cultivation?" he asked.
"Qi Refinement stage 3."
"Are you sure?" General Sun couldn''t help but ask.
"Hundred percent."
"Is there anything else you wanted to report?"
"No, sir."
"You''re dismissed."
General Sun looked at hismanders with a grave expression.
The battle that should have been a clean sweep had taken another turn.
Now, they needed to take the battle seriously.
"Make camp," hemanded.
Meanwhile, on the Celestial Forte side, the main army had arrived.
Looking at the thousands of dead bodies in the distance, the soldiers couldn''t help but feel their blood boil.
When would it be their turn to show their strength?
They set up their camp at the foot of the high grass in, resting after the long journey and battle.
Inside the main tent, Zimo, Biyu, and other topmanders of the Cold Steel Pass sat around the table.
"What do you think their next action will be?" Biyu asked, looking at General Shi.
Before General Shi could respond, Meiling spoke up.
"They are going to send their elite team for a surprise attack," she asserted confidently.
"Why do you say that?" Zimo questioned, his gaze fixed on Meiling with fascination.
"They just lost close to fifty thousand of their men. They won''t sit still and wait for our men to regain their morale for the next battle," she exined confidently.
"Then what do you propose we do?" Zimo inquired further.
"Wey an ambush for them and kill them all," Meiling replied with a confident smile.
For a couple of seconds, silence filled the room as General Shi and his men contemted their response.
"Miss Meiling, you''re right if we were a normal army, but we''re not," Biyu interjected with a mysterious smile.
"Have you heard of Counter Ambush?" she asked, her tone cryptic.
