Thorns tore into my legs while branches scratched my face, but I kept moving. The blood from the body I was carrying had already soaked into my coat and had started to cake over. I tripped over something and fell hard onto my knees and palms. His body fell beside me and let out a soft moan.

    Strong arms began lifting me up to my feet. I wobbled, and then stabilized.


    “We’re almost there,” The warrior replied doggedly, “Here, let me help you.”


    Despite her broken leg, she lifted up the limp man and put him over one shoulder and looked at me to do the same. Reluctantly, I placed his left arm over my shoulder and bore as much of his weight as I could bear.
