Matthew used to respect Dominic, but Dominic hadpletely drained it.
Dominic gritted his teeth, his facial muscles twitching. If anyone else called him that, Dominic would instantly flip out. But when Matthew said it, he could only nod and go along with it.
"You''re right. Feel free to call me a brat."
Soon enough, Leo rallied about ten people. With more hands, the process of moving the bodies and cleaning the blood sped up.
Matthew stitched up Dominic''s wound, stopped the bleeding, and applied some ointment.
After everything was taken care of, Matthew asked, "Were they supposed to be over 100 elite soldiers, brat? Howe they are only a few enemies?"
After getting a pain relief shot, Dominic felt the pain ease significantly. However, his face remained pale, and his voice sounded weak.
"They''re turning the entire city upside down to search for someone. If my guess is right, they''re looking for Isaac."
Finding Isaac? Matthew was perplexed. "Is Horace unaware that Isaac is dead?"
Dominic shook his head. "Mr. Miles asked us to keep it under wraps. It''s best he doesn''t know. If he goes crazy with his troops, no one can stop him."
...
Inside a vi, Horace sported a cold expression on his wrinkled face. With his hands behind his back, he kept pacing around.
Something wasn''t right. Isaac had gone missing. Was he fooling around with a woman, or did something happen to him? Horace was more convinced that Isaac was messing around with a woman.
Isaac was Horace''s grandson, and Matthew didn''t know the influence the Wood family had when he made his move.
But now that Matthew learned that Isaac was Horace''s grandson, Horace couldn''t believe anyone would dare to harm Isaac.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the door. After a moment, a guard rushed in. "After asking around, we found out that Mr. Wood frequently went out with women. Sometimes, he''d disappear for a week or two, and people in thepany got used to it."
It was only at this moment that Horace understood how little he knew Isaac. "Why was he gone for a week or two? What was he up to?"
The guard was speechless. "Sometimes he''d take a cruise out to sea, sometimes he led groups into the mountains, and asionally he''d rent out hundreds of acres of grasnd. At least, that''s what the people in thepany said. They might be exaggerating."
Seeing Horace look more and more upset, the guard panicked and scrambled to take back what he said.
Only now did Horace realize just how wild Isaac''s lifestyle was. Those "gatherings" were probably just with women. Everything Horace spent his life merely imagining, Isaac had done.
There was no denying that Isaac
truly lived life to the fullest. He''d had plenty of women and spent money however he wanted. On top of that, he had already indulged himself in cars nes, and yachts. The only regret was that Isaked ambition.
After a pause, Horace suddenly thought of something. "Have you looked into the
Lambda City surveince as I asked?"
The guard sported a bitter
expression. "As it turns out, the surveince system of Lambda City is being updated right now. There''s no surveince across the city, and I frustratedly called the mayor He kept apologizing, promising to expedite the upgrading process."
Upon hearing the guard''s words, Horace couldn''t help but curse, "Motherfucker!
Of all times, they just had to choose now to rece it?"
As soon as the guard saw Horace started scolding, he was terrified and kept his mouth shut.
...
A car sped down the road in Lambda City. Inside the car, Brad was lost in thought with a solemn expression.
The mayor used the excuse of upgrading Lambda City''s
surveince system to brush things off. The few people who saw Isaac entering Opulent Club that day had all been detained. That should lock down the news and dy Horace from finding out Isaac was killed.
Brad had dispatched his men to dig up the illegal activities the Wood family had done in the past.
Just as Brad mulled over things, the car came to a stop. He turned to look outside the window and saw Matthew chatting with Dominic. So, he opened the door and waved his hand at Matthew.
Brad! Matthew was shocked. It was in the middle of the night, yet Brad was still awake.
Matthew got into the car. "Do you need anything, Mr. Miles?"
Brad sported a smile. "Are you close with your mentor, Matthew?"
Matthew didn''t know why Brad suddenly brought up Nichs. He replied with a grin, "We get along pretty well."
In truth, Matthew didn''t see Nichs for a long time. Plus, even if he wanted to meet Nichs, he couldn''t.
Nichs had sent Matthew a message through Ansel. Before hepleted the missions about medical sects, Nichs refused to see him. However, Matthew couldn''t be bothered to tell Brad about it.
Brad nodded. "That''s good to hear."
Upon hearing Matthew''s words, Brad felt more at ease.
Horace had military power and a vastwork of connections, so taking him down
in one go was impossible. If he was pushed to the edge, the consequences could be disastrous.
But Nichs had influence everywhere. If Matthew requested his help, Horace wouldn''t stand a chance. Brad showed up herete at night just to ask this.
