<h4>Chapter 17: Red zone</h4>


    A peaceful wide expanse of unmeasureablend with a few sand hills was now a huge battlefield Field.


    Loud sounds of different guns rang loudly with four huge M1 peacemaker trucks racing towards the direction of the gunfire, they left huge trails of dust which were hardly visible in the darkness.


    Soldiers armed in dark green exo-suit which were much more advanced than the silver ones manned the machine guns, their visors glowed with green light, no life signal escaped their sight, this was the red zone, a singlepse in vignce could be disastrous.


    "Perepare to engage"


    The captain''s voice echoed through the COMs of every soldier in the truck. They all began to re-check their armory, they knew there was no breathing space, not being prepared could end up badly.


    "Copy that, sir" the machine Gunner at the first truck answered and turned to his right, his gatling gun jerked and the barrels began to whirl and ming bullets spilled out Continuously, they left red trails as the bullets met a creature who was twenty yards away.


    The creature''s body was riddled with holes before it could even make a sound, it dropped to the ground and blood gushed out, dying the yellow soil.


    "Nice!" Another machine Gunner at the back praised while raising his thumbs.


    "You used ten extra bullet, so you''re still in second ce" the Gunner at the second truck scoffed, theymunicated through their COMs.


    A huge smile appeared on his face as he gazed at the number floating on the screen in his helmet, their new suit was way more amazing than the old one, apart from higher defensive capabilities, the advanced AI which could increase a soldiers calctive ability was the best thing about new suit.


    "It doesn''t change anything" the first Gunner grumbled while he stared at the same number floating on his screen with grudge, if the AI wasn''t there, he would have imed the first ce.


    The heavy gunfire at the distance was getting louder as they approached, the huge mes created by explosives reflected on the visor of the first Gunner.


    Red light began ring and the four Gunners went into action, each facing different directions, mes spilled out of their gun''s muzzles.


    Dark Shadows were rapidly approaching the trucks and their thunderous deep growling would cause any normal soldier to faint from fear.


    The first Gunner''s machine gun clicked, his bullets were finished, he didn''t bother and turned to a different direction while yelling.


    "Ammo"


    A small box opened under the metal casing covering some part of the gun and the exhausted cartridge came out with a new cartridge recing it. This new cartridge had bullets with liquid chemical mixtures inside.


    The first Gunner pressed the trigger and bluish mes spilled out of the muzzle, the bullet would melt the skin of any night wolf it met.


    Painful howls of wolves rang loudly. They became more aggressive and the four Gunners changed their bullets, the mes shing from their guns was the only source of light in this darkness.


    Thest Gunner used an advanced GPMG, although his gun shot only 1000 bullets per minute, it was scary.


    BOOM! A bullet pierced through the head of a huge wolf, it came out the back and hit the next wolf, blood spilled as the two wolves smashed to the ground creating a massive dust wave because of their size, other smaller wolves got caught up and stumbled.


    It gave two machine Gunners at thest two vehicles, a small breathing space.


    "Good job" the Gunner on the third truck gasped, sweat had covered his face, he wished he could just remove his helmet, his hands were also trembling, the recoil from these guns was no joke, even super humans like them could not handle it for long.


    He turned and saw the first Gunner still shooting, his first barrel had already been changed and he had exhausted two cartridges. He could hear the first Gunner''s madughter as he ughtered the wolves.


    The third Gunner shivered, his gun wasn''t as powerful as the first Gunner''s but he could feel his trembling arms whilst the first Gunner was still shooting like a mad man.


    After a while, a loud howl reverberated and the wolves retreated, the third Gunner felt relieved and pressed a button, he held his helmet and removed it, his damp brown hair was stuck to his face and his face was covered in sweat.


    "Finally!, I felt suffocated. why isn''t there any conditioning in this suit?" heined while breathing loudly.


    "What the hell... You fool! Wear your helm!!" The Gunner on thest vehicle yelled, he immediately jerked his gun and began shooting at the sky.


    The third Gunner felt the intensity of the breeze increase, soon it could no longer be called a breeze, he looked up and his eyes widened in horror.


    His entire body froze as he stared with bulging eyes at a huge creature approaching with great speed.


    "What are you doing, duck you fool!!!" The fourth Gunner yelled with his mouth widening to its limits, he kept on shooting but his bullets just deflected off the ck feathers of the huge condor.


    The others began shooting at the condor, they had not rxed from thest battle and the recoil of their weapons had left them slightly weaker than normal which caused their aim to be reduced drastically.


    Most of the bullets were shot into the sky missing the condor by arge margin.


    "Zach!!... Duck!!... Zach!!" Their voice couldn''t reach Zach (the third Gunner) as his entire body was frozen, the image of the condor kept erging in his pupils and when it got close enough, it readied its sharp ws that gleamed with a dangerous glint.


    "Arrgghh!!... Die you filthy animal" the fourth Gunner screamed with saliva spilling out from his mouth but he was wearing a helm so nothing came out, the screens inside his helm began glowing with red light.


    He ignored it, Zach is his younger brother, he couldn''t watch him die right before his eyes, his face turned red and his gun had begun to heat up, right now he had an impossible wish, he wished his gun could shoot faster.


    "Get inside, NOW!!"


    Rnd yelled, Zach was already doomed and he couldn''t lose three more men, the wind from the huge wings of the condor could lift the machine Gunners off the vehicles and once they were out of the truck, they were doomed. At the spot they were, there was nothing like stopping, you stop, you die.


    Until they reached the safe zone, they could not stop. They continued shooting at the beast who was now a few meters away from them, the wingspan of this huge bird was almost three trucksbined, its cold gaze locked on Zach and there was no escape.


    "GET DOWN NOW!!"


    The angry voice of the captain made the first two Gunners reluctantly enter their respective vehicles. Only the fourth Gunner was shooting at the beast.


    Rnd''s brows furrowed and his jaws clenched, he was really angry, before he said anything 4 who was in the truck Zach was, pulled Zach down, Zach was almost drawn down but a clip held him.


    The condor had arrived, the huge wind from the wings flung the fourth Gunner off his seat, his clip was useless as it couldn''t withstand the pressure.
